To be young

Posted by Blitzr in Australia on 14 November 2009

I know this was the third ever Lego set that I got...for the life of me, I have no idea who gave it to me and for what reason.

What I do remember is spending hours playing around with it.

Sure, the flex joint in the middle made scooting it across the floor a bit of a challenge. The little space ship on the back was my main point of focus. I reckon I spent days zooming around my back yard with this before I remembered that I also had two others that could join in the fun.

Shovel Buggy

Back in the day.

Posted by Blitzr in Australia on 14 November 2009

The second Lego set I ever got. My first being 6822 and the part I best liked about it was the flexible claw arm on the back. When my mum handed this little gem over it was more of the same. For some reason, I really enjoyed the funky flexible arm, and this kit had one on the front!

So two Lego sets in and both were digging vehicles of some sort. The kit itself is rather simple. At a pinch you could leave the antenna off the back and curl the shovel up over the front and zoom it around on the floor. That in itself made this kit a lot more fun.

I had no problems pretending that 6822 'could' fly, but 6821 could roll across the floors at home...no pretense needed.

For old times!

Posted by Blitzr in Australia on 14 November 2009

Looking back, this really was not much at all.....but it was my first EVER Lego model. As a result it still holds a special place in my heart.

It is a rather funny looking vehicle, but the flexible claw on the back was great fun when I was 7 years old. On it's own, it did not get too much play. Once I got a few more sets I used it a lot more, but also started to see just how basic it was.

Still, for a first ever Lego set, it made me smile.

I have given it a 3, although I think 3.5 would be more fitting.

GADUNKA!

Posted by Carl in New Zealand on 14 November 2009

Gadunka is a really great Bionicle. His head is glow in the dark and his teeth are the Ehlek spine pieces. His claws are the Mahri Matoran blades and look really great.

Pros:

Glow in the dark head
Ehlek spines used as teeth
Claws
Cool build
Suspension on legs
Hakann foot used as tongue
Leg armour
Chest armour
Highly posable

Cons:

Squid launcher sucks

Other than that squid launcher con, which is easily fixable, Gadunka is one of thee best Bionicles ever made.

Best spongebob ever!

Posted by sethlee in United States on 14 November 2009

I can't belive it! they may have re release spongebobs pinnapple but this time its better. Squidwards head isn't so scary anymore well he still has 2 legs. Spongebob looks like he's going to burn somebody. Patrick has a catapult car and looks like he did something to Mr. krabs.Inside is surprisingly dissaproved since it looks like somebody used a shrink ray. Gary has cherrys for eyes and looks like E.T with a shell. I can't belive that theres only 1 jellyfish and looks like a hat. I wonder why squidward is reading a book In front of spongebobs house? The TV is so small that Larry the Lobster can throw it at someone. The set is big so luckly I can trap my shrunken head in spongebobs house so he can no longer bother me.

Camper

Very nice, but needs a few more features.

Posted by Sammael in Yugoslavia on 14 November 2009

I bought 7639 a couple of days ago, together with 7641; it took me about 20 minutes to build, and it was an easy build (as expected).

The colors (white with lime green highlights) work very well together. The construction is fairly sturdy, although the two halves tend to be a bit flimsy if not secured with the handle.

There are quite a few stickers, but they aren't too obtrusive. Still, printed parts would have been a lot nicer.

Proportions are fairly good, although the vehicle is a bit too tall (slightly taller than the bus from 7641).

Vehicle doors are included, which is always nice. Unfortunately, there is only one seat in the front, and no rear-view mirrors (which I've come to expect on modern Lego vehicles).

There are plenty of accessories, including the TV (sticker on 2x2 tile), 2 cups, frying pan, fish, surfboard, and bicycle. I'm not sure why they didn't include any 1x1 trans-clear round plates for the bicycle headlight, though.

There are two minifigs, a fairly plain-looking male and a very nice new female.

The opening mechanism is not realistic, but it does increase playability.

One thing that bothers me is that it's a 6-wide vehicle, yet it has more or less the same exact features as my 4-wide 6590 Vacation Camper from 1988. It would have been nice to include a fold-up bed, a sink (6590 has a faucet), a fridge, or at least a place to store the portable grill. This is the reason why I'm not giving it a perfect score - it's good, but it could have been better.

I just got mine in the mail. He is kind of hard to stand. and when you stand it up you can't really have his digging claws down to the ground. besides that he's awesome. He's a good sized set. He's only good to play with if you play with others that are meant to be small or by its self.

Allready a classic!

Posted by Harm1 in Netherlands on 14 November 2009

This set has pretty much everything you'd want from a lego set. It has a nice colour scheme, rare pieces, it is sturdy, has good playability and it looks great in any city collection.

The big downside is of course the use of stickers, and lot's of them too. Normally I wouldn't even think of giving a set with these amounts of stickers a 5/5, but for once, the positives of this set weigh out the negatives.

To me, it's allready a classic.

A 3 star restaurant

Posted by sethlee in United States on 14 November 2009

Well the krusty krab is back but the fun is not. You see this 'Krusty Krab' isn't what you will be expecting. Its too small, and there's no more kitchen or cash register. And the most scarriest thing that happened is that it looks too fragile.Well the patty car is a nice appprovement but the rest is a bad aftertaste so 3 krabby pattys.

Almost as good as Nuparu

Posted by Carl in New Zealand on 13 November 2009

Being green is always an excuse for me to give a high rating. But personally, I think that this guy should get a higher rating than 5 (not as good a rating as Nuparu though, cause Nuparu rocks the earth. Teehee).

Pros:

Mask may look weird but is awesome
Crossbow
Zamor Launcher
Zamor Holder
Zamors are blue
Shoulder armour
Inika feet
Chest plate

Cons:

Limb armour isn't green

Other than that minor con, Kongu is awesome!

Toa Nuparu

Nuparu has been revamped... and is just as cool!

Posted by Carl in New Zealand on 13 November 2009

Seriously, this guy is awesome. The Earth Toa are just blowing me away. The mask is cool and the Piraka feet in black look great. The new liimb armour is great too. The shield is one of the best parts of the set.

Pros:

Shield
Mask
Pipe connecting to oxygen filter?
Black Piraka feet
Cordak blaster
Limb armour
Black!

Toa Mahri Nuparu is great, and just like his Inika version, is a must have for everyone.

the 2nd rebel blockade runner

Posted by sudorum in United States on 13 November 2009

I'll start with the minifigs. you get Lea, C3Po, R2, a rebel, and captain antilles. the only new character is antilles, who has a double sided face. The blockade runner itself is sturdily constructed. No gaps, or bad interiors. The cockpit has two seats, one one either side of the cone. the top and bottom gun turrets both rotate. The main command center has a desk for leia, however its a little too similar to the one in the ventator republic cruiser. the center also has computers and room to store a crate and two other minifigs. the near rear section has two identical escape pods, which can fit two people. compared to the ucs version of the model, this set is maybie too small. however, its inside and playability makes up for it.

great set

Posted by bobbythefish123 in United States on 13 November 2009

I got this set with my birthday money and I was not disappointed. It comes with excellent play features, and an okay selection of minifigs.

Walker- Good size, top gun rotates all the way around. It can normally seat 8, but i modified mine to seat 16. It has good pieces, and is easy to modify to make better seating and maybe other small vehicles. Interior is big, and pilot area slides out to reveal controls. It is a little bigger than the MTT, and is 10 dollars cheaper, so it is a good deal if you are looking for a big set. Ball turrets work well, and the missiles shoot very far( though they sometimes get stuck and have to be reset manually.

STAP- not much to say. It has good design, but the clear piece that holds it to the ground often pulls of the whole lower part of it. It makes an okay side part to the set.

Minifigs- okay. Nice captain rex fig, and the jedi are nice to have, but why does it need a rotta the hut? I hate that thing. It has no use on the battlefield and was never in an AT-TE! It is just worthless. The droid is nice. There should have been more clones, though. It should have included 4 clones, so you could drive it, man the main gun, and put some guys in the inside of it. If lego had just added 2 more clones and 2 more droids to oppose it, they could have bumped the price up to 100 dollars.

overall, good value for money, good size, okay minifigs, and a fun build with many large pieces. Definitely get one. I may be getting another one of these, mainly because of the walker itself, not the STAP or minifigs. It makes a good centerpiece for a battle, and is the largest land vehicle I have in my arsenal. Great set,
94/100

Absolutely the most brilliant Lego train set out there, but when it comes to Lego there's always cons.

Posted by Lolbrick in Sweden on 13 November 2009

Now I simply love this train, it's the best passenger train in Lego out there and has been for soon 19 years!
I got it back 1995 when I was 10 and had a lot of fun with it for almost 2 years.

The design of this set is outstanding and from far sight you'd think it wasn't even in Lego, so comes to the station which is quite simple but brilliant nevertheless,
and the inside is extreamly well done too, the first Locomotive has an engine and a shop, however I think the shop could've been better since it contains nothing more than two desks and four cups which seems abit... empty.

The second Locomotive has a bagage which can contain all the accesories which I might add are lots of.
The cons with the second Locomotive would be that they should've had a red flashlight instead of a yellow and I would suggest that you buy an extra motor so both lights works!

Now to the wagon.
It has the best details! Tables which has the abbility to contain suitcases and it also has a tap, yet leaving space for walkthrought and many seats.

Also, I do not like the empty gaps when you go by the walkthought, they could've added a window or something like that, I mean else the passengers will get sucked out, lol...

This set is despite the cons I wrote a masterpiece in Lego trains and is a must have, realistic, many minifigures and accesories!
No wonder it's still the king since 1991!

My First LEGO set

Posted by kairu in United States on 13 November 2009

I remember this fondly. The first set that I ever purchased/received. Don't remember which.

As a five (six?) year old, this set was it. It has just enough pieces that you can build a variety of things. I remember cars, planes, gliders, robots, cycles, and tons more! The minifigure is a rugged-looking guy with a bomber jacket, perfect for those cool kids in the neighborhood. I believe I still have the helmet and the wings but that's it! So sad. Trying to repurchase this now.

High Speed Train

Weakest Lego Train Set.

Posted by Lolbrick in Sweden on 13 November 2009

Now I got this for christmas and I gotta say it is really oddly designed... like I've never seen an Ace german green-line styled train with only one locomotive or whatever kind of model they try to mimic... but that's the only model I could think off.

It has no doors, and extreamly cheap detailed on the inside and the Cargo container? What were they thinking?
But I gotta give this set abit of credit after all, although I do not like the particular design on the front, I do like the front window, very aerodynamic.
Also, the ticket was a smart idea and the secret agent badge...
mediocre station.

You can do way better Lego... what happened to the ol' Metroliner spirit?

Heavy machinery ready to roll!

Posted by merkinized75 in Croatia on 13 November 2009

This clawish mean machine is not just awesome-looking, it's so sturdy built that you can't rip it apart even if you try your best. When you grab those handles on the side and rotate them, the claws move up and down and hack EVERYTHING in its way. The good thing is it came with two crystals(good for Sulfurix). The wheels are HUGE, I mean HUGE. And behind the roll-cage there are big floodlights. On the very front there is a scoop-basket so you can give a seat to those rockies and their crystals. On the back there is a dynamite and a saw. You can actually take off the engine by removing the pickax and then you stuck your finger below and then pull it up.

Pros:

-moving claws
-big wheels
-floodlights
-sturdy and challenging build
-scoop-basket
-oversized engine
-nice mud texture on the stickers

Cons:

-cross-axle going out of the back wheels
-antennas instead of a driving wheel
-computer isn't where it should be
-some gaps below the vehicle

ONCE IN A LIFE TIME OPPORTUNITY!

Posted by joelmama29 in United States on 12 November 2009

Well believe it or not I was able to buy this set for $50.00 bucks for a brand new sealed cloud city! Looking at all the prices on Ebay and Amazon I was not going to pass up on this deal. Well I was shocked this set is great even though most of the reviews are so negative. First of all the building is simple but its construction is solid. Just like Jabba's Palace you can seperate the play scenes for playbility or even to build and make it bigger. I like how you have five scenes from the movie to recreate. The landing pad is great you can put the millinum falcon or the Slave I ship. But the best part of this set has to be the mini figs that are exclusive to this set. This set is great and from what I can see on the web this is the ULTIMATE COLLECTIOR SET of all lego sets! If you have a chance to get one jump on it!

PROS:
Mini Figs
- Boba Fett with Printed Legs and Arms
- Lando in his Cloud City Outfit
- Cloud City Princess Leia
- Luke Skywalker
- Darth Vader
- Storm Trooper
Great Color Schemes
Solid Construction
Five Playable Scenes

CONS:
You need ample room for display with Landing Scene!
Price to buy this set is crazy on EBAY and AMAZON!
