The first LEGO (aka First and only DUPLO) I've ever owned

Posted by knuclear200x in United States on 09 November 2009

I'm not sure why we never opened this a long time ago, as it hid in the closet's upper shelf in my bedroom for some undisclosed amount of time, but when I discovered it in there I humbly requested that it be brought before me to be built right away.

It was just a simple train set complete with straight and curved tracks, but I too was simple and played the dang thing for hours. My sister was underage at the time, but back then I already believed that age was just a number and we played together as we shared the "great wonder" with all the other toys in my toy box.

The Train set consisted of the main engine, passenger car, and a teetering animal transporter each connected by peg and hook. The main car also had those uh...train wheel things that connect to make...the wheels move or whatever I dunno what those dang steel rods are called on train I aint no train mechanic guy why do I have to know these sorts of....uh...and is driven buy a male conductor figure. And to be placed in the middle of the connected tracks would be the train station. It also comes with a female passenger who has strangely packed her suitcases in a box for some reason. Yeah, instead of suitcases, a service phone and a mailbag are blocks that have pictures of suitcases, a service phone and a mailbag on each one. A recurring theme for the safety of our young, pre-LEGO enthusiasts.

Aaaand the lamb, who rides in the teetering animal carrier. Which I believe is against the standards of proper animal transportation of all rail systems...I mean...for lamb-rocking fun as you move the train across the tracks or off of the tracks. Oh wait that's actually for the mailbag brick. There is a yellow, empty crate brick for the sheep but the sheep can ride in the former if you want it too.

Placed in the middle of the tracks is the train station. It's not too small but it has enough room for some chairs, the phone brick, and an oval block with a clock in it to tell time...the same time. Just remember and check it constantly, as the train will arrive at 10:08, then depart at 10:08, and expect any delays due to daily mandatory maintenance and inspection by 8 minutes for any departures that are scheduled at 10:00. All passengers are expected to be on time, as otherwise must wait for the next departure.

The set has a few useful pieces like the cars with an open front and a flip top roof. Then there's the train fender and front chimney. If you have enough regular lego bricks you can modify this as easily as your imagination can take you.

The owning value of this set isnt really much. It's really for the completionists who dont have it yet. But if you already have it, then go ahead and keep it. I just checked ebay and there's only 2 results as of the date I submit this.

Pros: Nice figs, nice pieces and accessories. Will provide hours of fun for your child.

Cons: Not that much useful pieces. Will provide minutes of fun for you by itself but maybe even more for custom designing.

You're probably not looking for this set and only discovered this review in an update. The reasons I reviewed this set was for nostalgia and that it took me long to figure out what the product number was. But if you are looking for it, I hope this review helps you well enough, as it appears no one else had a review for it. Soooooo...bye.

Great

Posted by Exo-brick in United States on 09 November 2009

I bought this set so I didn't have to have star wars guys as civilians. I like that it comes with four minifigs for $10. Time to break it down:

Section 1: People
Subsection 1: Police Officer
Not much new here. Just another police officer. This is my eighth officer.
Good for a town with no police.
Subsection 2:Girl
A nice figure, with a good color scheme. The shirt is one I didn't have,
so thats nice.
Subsection 3: Delivery man
This guy looks like a jerk. He looks like he'd be on a rocking chair
saying "You darn kids, get off my lawn!" Always a welcome person, one who
is in the delivery system.
Subsection 4: Business man
Nice fellow, seems good for a corperate worker.
Section 2: Items and signs
Subsection 1: Items
The bench is a nice addition. A fire hydrant is essential. The radio is
awesome for a kid. The hand truck is great; you can never have enough.
Subsection 2: Signs
A few nice signs and the trafic light is cool.

Conclusion: A nice set great for boosting residents.

*What did you think of the section/subsection system? It would be better for larger sets. Use the "Was this review useful button" to reply. Yes for good, No for complete failure.

City car zips in for the win!

Posted by Exo-brick in United States on 09 November 2009

I just got this set today and it goes well with my city. I've been holding out to get it for a reason I don't know. I like the slick design of the car.

Pros:
-Compact
-Car for city
-Rare-ish parts
-Cool design

Cons:
-Could have been packaged with a roof and rear windshield for convertability.

Great set for city builders. Must have for those who need more cars.

Imerial Guards Port!

Posted by Armada in N/A on 09 November 2009

This set was really neat, it comes with a lot and has some cool functions.

Pros:
1) Comes with 6 minifigures, a crocidile, and a monkey.
2) Cannon that really fires!
3) A crane that rotates that can pick up and set domn a tresure chest.
4) Can pull 4 seperate sections apart making your own unique fort!
Cons:
1) Only one cannon (I wish there were more).
2) No other special functions to the set besides the back of prison opens.
3) A bit small (could be bigger for your money).

Over-all rating: four stars
This set was nice and all getting the soldiers, but mainly I think they should make it bigger for $50.00.

Best movie yet!

Posted by james3426 in United States on 09 November 2009

This is in my opinion, the best movie ever! There were a few parts though, that seemed a little abruptly ended. Please do not read the following if you have not seen it yet.

WARNING:HUGE SPOILERS!

I am not going to make a full summary, so click this link, then I will say what I thought of it:http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/BIONICLE:_The_Legend_Reborn.

Earlier when I said abruptly ending parts, I specifically mean the part where Mata Nui, Ackar, and Kiina are in the underground lab of the great beings and are talking about the great beings and why Mata Nui feels like he has been there before. To those of you who are wondering why there was more than one "Stronius" those were just special forces Skrall. Tuma appears to die here, but he did not (see here:http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/Tuma#Biography).
The way they made the Agori look the same from each tribe and all the Bone hunters look like Atakus was kind of weird though.

This is a very good movie which seems to be the most accurate movie since Mask of Light. I recommend this to any Bionicle fan.

An incredible saucer!

Posted by Commander Jaller in Netherlands on 09 November 2009

This is my biggest UFO set so far, and it is AWESOME!
Includes four minifigures:
Alpha Draconis, the leader of the aliens that were in the UFO line, other than him there also is a red colored alien, a blue colored alien and last but not least, the blue droid.

The saucer itself has many awesome details, including panels, antennae, magnet pieces, and a bunch more! It also has a cool name, the "Alien Avenger".
Let's get on with the pro's and con's of this beast...

PRO'S:
- Alpha Draconis minifig
- The top can be detached and easily put back again with the use of magnets
- Some round plates change color with heat
- One small wheeled vehicle that can be hidden in the saucer
- One bigger wheel-vehicle (car?), which can be hidden inside too
- Magnetic crane that pulls up anything else magnetic
- One main cockpit, and two cockpit-like things on the sides (one on each)
- Laser things on the front
- EVERY single minifig can be put inside!
- Two extra panels not used on the set

CON'S:
- NONE!

OVERALL:
This is a great set and highly recommended to any space fan!

Great starters set!

Posted by Commander Jaller in Netherlands on 09 November 2009

This was my very first Power Miners set, and it is pretty good.
The vehicle has a red diamond on its side, and I've got no idea why it's there. But it's always nice to have something extra.
The front has two orange "blade-saw" pieces, and in the middle we get a circular piece. On the back there is a wheel. Includes a red rock monster and Power Miner minifigs.
It also has a few nice stickers, they've got a rough feeling if you touch them, only ever been in PM sets (so far).
The double sided head of the miner fig has a scared face on a side, and a, to me, evil-like face on the other.
Let's get on with the pro's and con's...

PRO'S:
- Red rock monster with a crystal
- Double sided head
- Nice looking engines on the front

CON'S:
- Hard to move the vehicle around
- A little bit expensive
- Could have included some dynamite

OVERALL:
This is a nice set for people who are getting their first Power Miners set, but not a must-have at all.

Nice little guy

Posted by Carl in New Zealand on 08 November 2009

To me, this guy looks like he means business. And with that awesome Kanoka disk launcher, he looks like he can take on a Visorak army any time, any day.

Pros:

Turaga Vakama's mask
Two toned mask - black and silver
Nice build
Kanoka disk launcher
Looks dangerous

Cons:

NONE!

Overall Tehutti is my second favourite Metru Nui Matoran and he is a must have for all Bionicle fans.

Armpit?!

Posted by james3426 in United States on 08 November 2009

Now that you mention it Carl, it now looks like his thornax launcher is in his armpit. This does not bother me much though (It actually made me laugh hard!)
I wanted to tell you an easy solution if it bothers you. You could either switch the piece that makes the old hand piece (Also used to connect his head on) from the side to upwards, or put the thornax launcher between his claws (They actually work) Now I will redo the pros and cons:

pros:
Flame Claws.
Dark red Hordika Feet.
Pose-able (armpit mounted) thornax launcher.
(very) heavily armored.
Flaming roman helmet.
Chest cover

cons:
NONE!

In my last review, I was in a hurry, so I accidentally submitted it before I finish, so i will start that again; He is just plain cool.

Darth Vader's TIE Fighter

My Review of The Tie Fighter

Posted by skippingboy123 in United States on 08 November 2009

PROS

-The cheapest set that has Darth Vader
-Cool ship
- Area for lightsaber
- Missiles

CONS
-Overpriced ( most legos are overpriced though) should have been 20 - 25 dollar instead of $30
-Flimsy wings
- Missiles aren't spring powered which make them go about a foot

I mainly got this set cause it has Darth Vader. The only other current set with Darth Vader is the Death Star which is $400. When I first made it the wings broke and i had to rebuild the wings. Then the whole set broke cause my friend was playing with it. So I rebuilt it again. Now it sits by my xwing which overpowers this sets blandness. I suggest not to buy it and save up for a bigger and better set. It only comes with one mini figure and is bland.

3) Unique flags that look totaly awesome.

Still a cool set even though some parts could be better. I modified mine so it has two cannons.

The Extemely Fragile X- Wing

Posted by skippingboy123 in United States on 08 November 2009

Pros
Very nice lego set for show
Come with Chewbacca, Leiah, Luke, A rebel , Han Solo, and R2 D2.
Wings Can move

cons
Fragile
Should come with CP30
All of the minifigs should come with weapons

I like this lego a lot. Its actually my favorite set right now. But, The first time I built it I put the wings on backwards. When I took them off thw whole thing broke. The wings are connected to the main base. Its really the wings that are so fragile. So I built the wings again making sure to put them on right way. When I went to put on my shelf something broke then another thin broke and then another. The last time I made it I made sure to press the pieces very hard together. Overall it was worth it. Its not overpriced and is not to big but is just right. But on the other hand it was the most frustrating time I have built a lego.

Fantastic Set!

Posted by chavez365 in Switzerland on 08 November 2009

I was feeling kind of bored over the weekend, so I decided to take this set out of the cupboard that has been its home for approximately three years and build it. Eventually, I discovered that too many pieces were missing for me to build both, so I just decided to build the blue one, as the mask for the aqua Tarakava was missing anyway. Does that mean this set was a flop because I couldn`t build both? One word:NO!
This set was not only fun too build, it`s fun to play with, too. I finally got sucked in to the building process of the set, a feeling that I hadn`t had for a pretty long time. Every time I added a new piece, I quivered, knowing that I was one step closer to completing a surely fantastic set. But, back to the set itself. As I was saying, the build was very fun, and I`m sure building the second one would have been just as much fun, especially as it looks like there are a couple of differences. So, in a nutshell, the building experience was unbelievable.
Now to the playability. There`s lots of it here, I`ll assure you of that. It is one of life`s most pleasant experiences to have a monster on treads shoot up to another Bionicle(particularly Brutaka, who`s height makes him the perfect punching bag for old Tarky here) and punch the living daylights out of him. And Tarky, as I have affectionally named him, has a special move that works with certain Bionicles, such as the Rahkshi: if you punch them in a certain spot, the little "fist" will keep hold of Tarky`s sparring partner and draw him towards you. Punch again and your amigo will fly away from you like a rag doll. Be warned though, it might give Mohamed Ali a.k.a. Tarky a serious hernia. Whilst beating up Guuhrak, Tarky`s arm came off! So, to answer your question, yes. Tarky is INCREDIBLY fun to play with.
Now, for Tarky`s final grade. Out of ten, this big guy gets a score of 19.6! With an incredibly enjoyable build and hours-no, wait, DAYS- of fun, Tarky really makes me wish that Bionicle made more guys like him. But sadly, the days of Tarky and his never built partner, and the surely amazing Nui-Rama and Nui-Jaga, as well as others like the Bahrag Twins, are over. The good thing is, if you`ve got one of these guys, two words: guaranteed fun.
Here are Tarky`s amazing final scores:
Playability: 29/10
Building: 13/10
Overall: 19.6/10
Should I Get It?: Hmmmmm, how about... 50/10? Particularly as YOU`LL get two!

I bought it for the lightsabers. . .

Posted by Alfred in Canada on 08 November 2009

I bought this set on Bricklink for way more money than it was worth and I was rather disappointed with it. Although you get Yoda and Count Dooku (who aren't even very good minifigs) the rest of the set is just garbage. Count Dooku's speeder is way out of proportion and doesn't even look like it did in the movie and I can't even tell what that other thing is supposed to be. The main reason that I bought this set was because I really wanted that curved lightsaber. Now on to the pros and cons.
Pros
Curved lightsaber
Speeder works well as a clone trooper vehicle
Count Dooku and Yoda minifigs

Cons
Speeder doesn't look like it should
That other thing is just a random pile of bricks
Yoda still looks like he did in episode 5 and 6, I'm glad Lego finally redesigned him to match the clone wars time period
Count Dooku' face doesn't look like him

Toa Hordika Matau

Great Set!

Posted by chavez365 in Switzerland on 08 November 2009

Matau is really cool! He has a fantastic Rhotuka Spinner that flies really far and two cool weapons that look like swords. His mask/face is pretty cool, and bears a slight resemblance to the mask he wore as a Toa Metru. His colors are nice, and look dark and intimidating. One of his arms moves if you turn a gear, but unfortunately the other is simply a Toa Mata leg. His chest armor is nice, and he has cool leg armor. Now to the pros and cons.
Pros:
Cool mask/face
Spinner goes really far
Looks good
Weapons are nice
Good armor
One arm moves
Cons:
Other arm doesn`t move
Legs aren`t very good
Spinner gets lost a lot and isn`t accurate
Those three minor flaws are hardly anything compared the the positive traits, and overall, I think this is a very good set. If you have the chance to get it, get it!

Guurahk is so cool! I got him from a friend along with one of the Vahki, and even though he`s missing a few pieces(kraata, gears for shoulder movement) he is still really awesome. He has nice colors and a very cool weapon, a special staff.
Pros:
Colors
Looks great
Very posable
Staff
Cons:
A bit too floppy
Overall, Guurahk is awesome.

Really Cool!

Posted by chavez365 in Switzerland on 08 November 2009

Onewa is my only Toa Metru(for now!), and he has not disappointed. He has two very cool weapons that are like special pickaxes. Then he has a very neat mask with two awesome blue eyes. He matches his element well, because there basically only brown on him, and he is a Toa of Earth. Here are the pros and cons.
Pros:
Mask
Weapons
Matches element well
Has cool blue eyes
Cons:
Weapons are bendy, so they could break.
Onewa is really awesome, and I think is perfect as a starter for the Metru.

Awesome Set!

Posted by chavez365 in Switzerland on 08 November 2009

Tahu is a really cool set! He was one of my first sets, and I still like him a lot. He has a very cool mask, which looks pretty dramatic, and then he has an awesome flame sword, which is really cool. It might be one of the coolest Bionicle weapons ever! Tahu also has a sort of special hand to direct his elemental powers e.g. shooting fireballs. Tahu has a very nice color scheme. He is red and orange, two colors that go together well and match the element of fire.
Pros:
Cool mask
Amazing weapon
Good color scheme
Cons:
None!
Tahu is a really great set and a must-have for any Bionicle collector.

A Jungle Warrior With Painful Inaccuracy!

Posted by chavez365 in Switzerland on 08 November 2009

Gresh was my first Glatorian and is my favorite Glatorian. He is a really fantastic set! First, you have the new(and cool) hands, and the iron man-like head. He really looks like a jungle warrior, with his spiky armor and different shades of green. His weapons are both cool, and can be combined to make a shield. His mask is another thing entirely; a sort of helmet, with a very tough look. And the rest of the set is great too!
All of these traits make Gresh a fantastic Glatorian, and he really is "A jungle warrior!"

Lewa, The Jungle Warrior!

Posted by chavez365 in Switzerland on 08 November 2009

Lewa is incredibly cool! He is really a fantastic purchase. First of all, we have his pickaxe-one of the coolest Toa Mata weapons. He also has a special hand thing from which(at least the way I play) he can shoot fines and direct his elemental powers. His mask, the Miru(Mask of Levitation) I believe, is also awesome. It makes him look like he`s laughing. Since Lewa is supposed to be a jokester, it matches him. Well.
In a nutshell, Lewa is a must-have. With cool weapons, a cool mask, and overall coolness. He is really great and is needed for any Bionicle fan.
