"Your such a beautiful freak"

Posted by Carl in New Zealand on 07 November 2009

This will be a part by part review of a truly amazing set.

1: Sarda

Sarda is the red Matoran. He has Toa Metru Vakama's mask, a silver Toa Mata Onua claw and two of Mantax's claws, the latter looking sort of strange but still cool.. His build is the same as Defilak and Dekar, apart from the feet. The Hordika chest plate is great, and the Toa Inika feet add a nice touch to Sarda, seeing as Matoran feet are usually quite boring. Although, Idris has Toa Metru of Earth(black colour) Whenua's mask but in blue, whereas Sarda's was red on Toa Metru Vakama. I think that they could have had Toa Metru Onewa's mask in red, but otherwise Sarda is a good Matoran.
Sarda: 4/5

2: Idris

Idris is the blue Matoran. He has Toa Metru Whenua's mask, but in blue, a silver Toa Mata Onua claw and a Solek sword with fang-hilt. The feet are great and the Hordika chest plate looks good on the Mahri Matoran. He is built using exactly the same pieces in exactly the same places as all the other Mahri Matoran, but with different colours. Unlike Dekar, Defilak and Sarda, Idris's leg connectors are transperent blue instead of dark grey. In my opinion Idris is the better of the two Matoran.
Idris: 5/5

3: The Trap

The trap function is really well and it stands up straight when placed on the ground. It securely holds Karzahni when he is put in it and it is a really neat little addition to the set, seeing as most Titan sets only come with the Titan. The trap is really cool in my opinion.
The Trap: 5/5

4: Karzahni

Karzahni is a mutated being, once the ruler of the realm Karzahni. and he certainly looks mutated to me. His head has finally made Pridak's size 17 feet look good: coloured green and with two transperant red fangs as eyes on top. Karzahni's head also has two horns, in silver, which just add that little bit of awesomeness to him. The Carapar chest-plate/Mantax shoulder-pads are used as Karzahni's chest-plate and shoulder-pads, and they look amazing in green. Toa Vakama Hordika heads are used as leg-pads and Mantax's feet in green are Karzahni's feet. Ehlek's heads are Karzahni's hands, with a dark green horn in each eyehole, like fingers. The Vezon chains look cool and are his primary weapons. Vezon's cape is also used as Karzahni's cape and that looks quite cool too. Two of Takdox's blades are on his chest as... well I actually don't know what they are. But they still look cool on him. The squid launcher however, as I've said in previous reviews, sucks. It can't even fire properly, and from what I've read on Brickset it seems that almost everyone agrees with me. But you can just take it off and so it's fine.
Karzahni: 5/5

In this set there are lots of re-coloured pieces and they have re-used lots of awesome pieces. The Matoran and the trap add extra awesomeness to an already awesome Bionicle.

Best Mummy

Posted by ledaKat in New Zealand on 07 November 2009

This is a fantastic, albiet tiny, set. The mummy is perfect. Absolutely perfect. The set is tiny, but easy to expand upon if you have lots of sand coloured bricks and a liking for the Adventurers Egypt series. As with the Vampire from the same theme, the Mummy has a dual face. Open eyes and sleeping eyes. And yes, there is a glow in the dark skull!

Although it is small, it is well designed. I like the lion/spynx-type roof of the sargophagous. My only con would be that the spider has nowhere to sit, wherever you attach him his legs get in the way. A great addition to the monster studios theme - and a must have minifig.

I Liked It

Posted by samuraiturtle in United States on 07 November 2009

The main model is a helecopter. And when you turn the wheel on the side the two blades will spin in unison a good feature to have. Their is a seat to put a technic figure in the cockpit (to bad one is not include). The other model to bulid is an airplane. And when you role the wheels on the ground the propler will spin. And, like other technic set their are instructions to hook up an electric motor, in this case it is for the helecopter to spin the blades on it.

It's Handy...

Posted by samuraiturtle in United States on 07 November 2009

It's handy if you are not sure what the lenght some thing is. It mesures four things in the inside is for lenghts of technic axles. The short side is for the hight of bricks up to a ten count. The middle lenght of the triangle is to count the number studs up to a 20 count. And the long side of the triangle is for rounded technic beames it goes to a 15 count.

Send In The Clones

Posted by samuraiturtle in United States on 07 November 2009

Like the title says if you have one you basicly have them all. Now I have two of them the black one and the white one. The only differences between them are their "claws" and color of their skin. They do have some cool things to do like curl into a ball and head-butt their enemies.

The Motor Is The Star

Posted by samuraiturtle in United States on 07 November 2009

I got this set for the pull-back motor. And the giant flames did not hurt the sets likableness. For those that do not know the maine model is a funny car or dragster (as some people would call it). The second model witch I am guessing is some sort of furtue car, and yes it does have the pull-back motor in it. One thing I do not get on the maine model is the flame placement, it should be out the exhaust pipes on the sides of the vechicle not out the back on the model as you can see above.

Lets Go Sleding

Posted by samuraiturtle in United States on 06 November 2009

That is what it looks like he is going to do. Maybe they should not make these thing so small. If he is going to try to out race a cop it looks like he is probably going to lose. I think his "speeder" needs some meat to it to give it a chance of winning. It does come with the new telescope and helmet.

We need the K-9 Unit

A impulse set with a space cop and a robot dog. Now I do not know about you but I think the dog kind of sucks. The reasons the dog is not too good is because it does not want to stay together at the technic peice that holds the flick fire missle. And, speaking of the missle does any one like those things. I will admight to dog does look nice the only plus for the thing. I real do not have much to say about the cop just a regular mini figure.

Power With Your Fist

Posted by samuraiturtle in United States on 06 November 2009

What you do is smack the pusher down and it makes the car move. It is basicly a red race car (and I think a cool looking one at that). It does have room to fit a technic figure in the race car but, sadly one does not come with it. And it does have cool stearing wheel if you like the one from Knight Rider a plus in my book. Like most technic set it does have alternative models. The other maine one is (I am guessing here) a selker race car. The other two just showes how to turn the main model into a pull-back motor car and how to add some sort of digital reader (I guessing it is for speed).

Nice smaller castle set

Posted by natro220 in United States on 06 November 2009

I always thought this set was fun to play with. It has a good variety of minifigs (a forestman, crusader, and knight), a horse, and a decent color scheme. While it's obviously not as fun to play or build as a lot of the castles in the genre, it's a good addition to your medival world.

Here Comes The Wizard

Posted by samuraiturtle in United States on 06 November 2009

This set is just a wizard with his treasure cart. It comes with a wazard and his magic wand, a gray bird, a treasure chest, and two wagon wheels.

It seems this set came in multiple packages. I am not 100% sure witch one I got but I do know I have one of them.

Need A Monkey

Posted by samuraiturtle in United States on 06 November 2009

This set is mostly a parts pack like I said need a monkey for cheap get this set (at the time it was first came out, I am not sure about todays price). And, you want a treasure chest with gold coins, or even a pirate with weapons. But, the reason we got the set at the time was we did not have shovel and we wanted one. So, it is a good set if you want some rare parts.

Best Toa Mata (excluding Nuva)

Posted by Carl in New Zealand on 06 November 2009

I was 5 years old when the original Toa came out, but the canisters said 6+, so I couldn't get any. My brother on the other hand was 7, so he got Taha, Kopaka, Gali, Onua and Pohatu! That left only Lewa, which was perfect for me because back then I was even more fanatical about green than I am now. So when my 6th birthday came around, I was so excited to get Lewa, my first ever Bionicle! I didn't get disappointed.

Lewa is an awesome Toa and is truly worthy if the title. The colour scheme is great, using emerald and lime greens to make the Toa Mata of Air truly awesome.

Pros:
- Kanohi Miru
- Colour Scheme
- 'Hand' is cool
- Swivelling arm function
- Axe is supreme
- Build

Cons:
- Canister picture shows him posed in a way that you can't pose him

But that con about the canister picture doesn't count towards anything because thats about the canister, not the actual set. Overall, I give Lewa a 5/5.

The Toa Mahri of Water!

Posted by Stronius8888 in Australia on 06 November 2009

Toa Hahli is my favourite Toa Mahri (2007). She has a typical Inika build, and the Cordak Blaster of 2007. Now I will reveal her (the set's) pros and cons.

PROS:
-Talons are pretty cool.
-Cordak Blaster looks cool and is actually pretty easy to use.
-Wings are a awesome design.
-Kanohi Faxon (the mask) is a very nice design.

CONS
-Lime pieces are very crisp and break easily.
-The breathing tubes slightly impair head movement.

Overall, Toa Hali is a fantastic set and I reccomend it to any Bionicle fan.

Orange Matoran

Posted by Carl in New Zealand on 06 November 2009

Photok is a really good Matoran. The mask looks like Pohatu Phantoka's. And seeing as I like Pohatu Phantoka, its cool.

Pros:
Mask
Weapons
Orange

Cons:
Not like old Matoran

Photok is a really great buy.

Great Information for a Lego Star War Dictionary

Posted by Moscadini in United States on 05 November 2009

I want to say that they made this book very well made. I like how they separated the characters as well as the "playsets" by sections. Too bad they had the idea for the Yavin 4 Playset and it never made it out to the product line. I did however find 1 mistake (I am sure there are a few others, but this one caught my eye)... On page 81, not only is the V-19 Torrent backwards, it is also upside down. I am sure this is a minor mistake... but just wanted to give heads up on it.

Pros:
1. The price is excellent.
2. Luke Skywalker in Ceremonial Outfit.
3. Shows all the SW Legos that have been made.
4. They mention that the Hailfire is actually "proportioned" to the Mini-Figures unlike the regular set was not.
5. No "Stickers" :-P j/k

Cons:
None really.... thought they would split up the movies by Chapters rather then by sections.

The surface of the moon

Posted by Rollo Tomassi in United States on 05 November 2009

On its own this set is pretty bland, of course. But in conjunction with other sets it greatly expands the play factor by having a surface for your ground vehicles to explore or add to the size of your other baseplate sets. Combine them with a few landing plates for an impressive Starbase.

The more the more magnificent

Posted by Rollo Tomassi in United States on 05 November 2009

I agree on it's own this set doesn't do much, but combined with other base sets with crater plates it really adds to the play experience.

And if you can get multiple sets, the fun increases exponentially. Imagine having three or six or ten of these laid out for a mega Starbase!!
