I'm the first to review this set!

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 11 November 2009

I recieved this set yesterday in the mail and was surprised. This set is excellent! Lego litterally improved every flaw of the origanal. There are no flimsy turrets, but instead, clear studs. The bulkyness has been eliminated and instead, the set is thin and sleek. It is possible to close the doors by switching around the panels, but the effect really isn't worth the hassal. The best fact is that it is exactly accurate to its big brother.

Pros:
Very accurate to its bigger model
Improved in every sense
New grey joystick peices

Cons:
Too small compared to other minis
The cannons are too squated over the wings and gives the top a flat appearance

1 year later...

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 04 November 2009

While its been a little over a year since its release and I just thought I'd give you guys my opinion on this amazing set. I won't go into immense detail since by now you probably know all the features, pros, cons, and ratings.

How it stands up to whats out now:

Big. Very big

Two exclusive minifigures that are still not available anywhere else

New pieces also unavailable now (Asajj's llightsaber hilts and skirt)

Price value is not as good as compared to vehicles such as the Venator which is bigger and has more money value

One of the first sets to feature the capsule escape pod design

How it stands up to the rest of the Star Wars Universe:

This is the best remake ever done. Every flaw was fixed. every detail was enhanced. Every peice was made use for. This stands up there right next to the X-wing 1999 and the Sail Barge. Its just that great.

Overall: A beautiful work of Lego art. Lego not only pushed their limits, they broke them and set new standards with this one. Get it in its last few months of availablility. Also, looks for the rest of my "One year later" recap reveiws on The Twilight, The Republic Fighter Tank, and The V-19 Torrent.

Quality over Quantity

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 03 November 2009

Yes we know this set is $25 dollars and while that is a lot for a set this small, it is worth every penny. I decided to take a break from clone wars and pick up on the OT sets. WOW, is all I had to say. This set is great in every sense. The figures are incredible and best of all, we finally se an E-web turret. The taun-taun is so inovative, I would go as far as to calling it the next Lego horse. I mean there are absolutely no flaws on this figure. The new rebels are clearly happy about fighting in snow trenches. While their goggle cover their face. The snow troopers are great in every sense.

Pros:
Great minifigures
HAN SOLO
Taun-taun
E-web turret (Finally)

Cons:
The rebel's goggles droop over their faces

Overall:Guys, trust me this set is wonderfull. Its expensive, yes, but has 5 minifigures and that alone should be enough. Pick it up while it lasts.

Never send a Super to do a Magnaguards Work

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 27 October 2009

I've had this set a year now and I just barely am getting around to reveiwing it. First off, this set is superb. With its new windsheild, new mini-figs, and overall design, this is one of the best looking starfighters out there. For once, Lego actually was able to get the set design smooth, but yet nice and blocky. The size is very decieving. It looks small, but is very decently sized. I'm impressed with the magnaguards, but I really wish they didnt have the shoulder capes. The staffs are sweet and the new purple cones have many uses. The back mounted flick-missles are a good idea. Best of all, the swooshability on this thing is amazing. You can almost hear the thrusters roaring as you swoosh it by. I really like the windshield. Its not too big, but its not overly small.

Pros:
Size
Fair price
Overly armed
New peices
Brand new Magnaguards
Perfect and I mean perfect colors
Extremely detailed
I have two, so my shelf looks sweet

Cons:
The magnaguards heads and capes are disappointing, but not too bad

Overall:
Guys, trust me this set is great. I had my doubts but when I built it, I was astonished. $45 is a very reasonable price considering the overall quality of it.
Get it before its gone.

I Finally Got It!

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 25 October 2009

After 3 years I finally got this AWESOME set yesterday. Wow I gotta say this set is huge. I was really impressed with all the details and features it had. I was able to get it for $45 without Luke, R2, Jabba, or Han, but thats okay. The skiff is incredible seeing as the origanal skiff just seemed to be thrown together. The Sarlacc pit is cool, but I think it should have been deeper and had an tentecle or two. The sails are a little low, but managable. The overall size of the top is large, but should have come with more detail. The interior is a lot bigger than is let one and best of all, it come with heavy blasters and a chain!

Pros:
Massive but very lightweight
Good selection of minifigures
Landos mask is awesome
Leia ;)

Cons:
Not enough guards
The material the sails are made of seems too thin
Deck cannon is flimsy

Overall:
An excellent set by all means. This really shows the limitless possibilities of Lego. Even though it may be impossible to get, buy it because its worthy every penny. Its a great centerpeice to any collection.

Whoa

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 13 October 2009

In all honesty, I had no idea that this book would contain as large a database as it did. I mean this book has a profile on just about everything. The images are great and the amount of information given is astonishing. I learned so much by reading this book. Small facts and subsections are added on almost all the pages. The book is devided into 3 sections: Movie Saga, Clone Wars, and Collecters. On certain sets, dimensions and minifigs are given, but all sets feature a 4 part block of Year, Piece Amount, Set Number, and what Apperance the set made. I only wish that DK would have included prices as well. The Luke minifig is great and is one of the few Lukes with long hair.

Pros:
Price $22 dollars is a steal considering that a star wars visual dictionary is 21 dollars on its own.
Luke
The size of the database
The interview at the end
The overall amount of information is incredible
The images are really well shot

Con:
The small boxes do their part, but don't give enough information

Overall: A must have for any Star Wars or Lego fan in general. Get it well its hot. In my opinion, the Luke fig is worth 22 dollars alone.

Worth every penny

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 04 October 2009

This has to be one of the best priced lego sets out there. I mean, this set is BIG. What I like best is its Video Game/movie accuracy. I recently played Battlefront II and noticed how extremely accurate this set is. From the missiles to the quad-lasers, this set has it. I really like the design for the "eyes". In my opinion, this is defiately the biggest and best droid aircraft out there.

Pros
Nice and big without the pain of an empty wallet
Extremly movie accuare details. Watch episode III and you'll see what I mean
Bomb dropping function works great
Overly armed! This has enough firepower to take down the Attack Shuttle
Enough standing room on top for a small squad of troops
The stickers that are used make the set look better
The cockpit doesnt flop around

Cons:
I didnt get 2 :,(

Overall:
An outstanding droid set that adds a flare to any army. Lego should pull a republic fighter tank and re-release it. If you can find it: buy it

AT-TE Walker

1 Year Later...

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 04 October 2009

Well, today was the one year aneversery of my At-Te. This was my first clone wars set. Recently, I've compared it to the newer clone wars legos and heres what came up:

How it stands up compared to Wave 2 and Wave 3:
Its definately big
Less features
Good amount of figs
Exclusive Cpt. Rex
One of the very few spring loaded missle sets
Accurate color sceme
A remake that accatually made the origanal look bad

Whats it doing now:
Well the At-te is now only available at Toys R Us for $100
Its still one of the best vehicles out there
A LOT bigger than most $90 sets out right now

Final thoughts:
Just thought I'd share my observations with you guys. This is definately one of the best Lego investments ever. Get it before it fades away completely! I look back now and see that this is definately a 5 star set.

Pirate Tank

Which side are they on???

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 18 September 2009

I'll admit that when I purchased the Pirate Tank, I had my doubts. I opened the box, poured out the pieces and began examining the minifigures first. I was astonished. The pirates are superoir in every aspect. Turk's headband actually raps around his whole head. Lego even included his ponytail on the back side of the torso. Ohnaka is my new favorite fig. He looks great and is extremely TV accurate. The set itself is great and truly does show off the sleekness of the vehicle. The build was challangeing and was about an hour. Its easy to get confused with all the brown pieces. The pop-up feature works well but the doors are way to flimsy. The turrest is kind of far from the gunners seat. I wasnt impressed with the gunners seat because of the lack of space. Money-wise, this is one of the best deals out there.

Pros:
Pirates
An extra(but strangely different) Obi-Wan
The design
The color scheme
The features

Cons:
Flimsy doors
A lot of stickers(I just dont care anymore)
Flick fires dont fire too well.

Overall:
A great set especially if you're looking for something different. If nothing less, get it for the figures.

"These arent the droids your looking for. Carry on"- Ben Kenobi

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 04 September 2009

Yeah, Im pretty sure no ones clamoring for assasin droids. Anyway, lets get on to the review. The minifigs are decent, but arent spectacular. Im actually very surprised that lego didnt deciede to make a new mold for the heads. Oh well, the classic IG-88 head will do. The speeder is very well done. I really like the color sceme on the spike wing things. Lego also shows off its new transparent purple cone. I also want to add that the speeder is extremely long. I compared it to my Jedi Starfighter and noticed that it is almost as long. The place to put the guns is kind of pointless though. Lego did think ahead and included two sets of extra flexing arms to clip on to the controls firmly.

Pros:
Huge speeder
Good amount of figures
Decent amount of weapons
The cheapest way to get the new purple cone pieces
For once, the flick missles do fit in well

Cons:
As great as this set is, I really dont think anybody wants endless amounts of assasian droids. In other words, this was a wasted battle pack
Those black Assasin droids really dont pass off as "elites"
Boring coneheads

Overall
A good set that fits in well with any droid army. Even though its not a necesity, mabye buy one to have some officers for your droid squads.
The set itself is large, but lacks firepower. All in all, another winner.

"sigh" Oh well at least I got some troops out of it

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 17 August 2009

When I first got wind of another snail tank, I was ecastatic. I misssed the first one so I wanted to grab this one up ASAP. I was dissapointed. This set is VERY lackluster. It brings nothing new to the star wars seen and is actually quite boring. The bumbers in the front flop around and the treads always get stuck. There is no droid pilot(unlike the last one), the eyes are too small(unlike the last one), and the colors are accurate, but boring(unlike the last one). I could on and on about the negatives but hey, I got it on sale for $19.99 at Target! This is a fair price considering it has 4 figs and slightly over 200 pieces. The jettroopers are nice, but overall, kind of boring. They feature no excess detail besides the jump pack and have no unquiness to them.

Pros:
The figures are good, but overall, nothing new.
No stickers
Good price for what I got it for, but $25 is way overpriced.
Good army builder, and I still want to get 2

Cons:
Too small
The cannons dont move
The treads get stuck a lot
The eyes are too small
The figs are boring
The launcher is dumb
The bumpers flop around
The set has no features

Overall:
If you need seperatist forces, get it. If not pass. I want 2 because I have no MTT, so my seperatist army relys on size and not big vehicles. The sale lasts until saturday at your local target, so pick it up for the price it should be. Think of this though: for what it costs to buy two of these, you could buy an AAT.

The "Big One" of Wave 2

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 16 August 2009

If you havent noticed, this is the biggest(and most pricey) of Clone Wars Wave 2. I guess thats okay seeing as Wave one had 3 big ones(I bought them and reviewed them all. My wallet is still recovering. LOL) Unfortunately, it seems lego slacked off a bit. The set is way too small. In "realtity", the shuttle is about the same size as the gunship. It can hold a small amout of troops (about five-six) and has room for two pilots. Unfortunately, the set only holds about three standard figures in the main compartment. The cockpit does hold two clones though. Four blasters fit in the weapons area. The ship is heavily armed and can easily take down an AAT. The bombs are a bit too colorful for me. The repeating launcher works excelently. I'm glad a clone tropper was included, but it couldnt have hurt to spring for two. Mace Windu rocks and looks like he means business!

Pros:
Very detailed and extremely color accurate
Great figs
No sticker, but it really isnt a big deal
A fair price considering the amount of pieces and the size

Cons:
Very disproportionate. I would have gladly forked out $90 for a big shuttle that fits a lot of troops and lets a figure walk out through the front.
Not enough clones

Overall:
Despite its size, this set is great and is the main attratction to Wave 2.
Although the set is smaller than it should be, lego made the right deciesion buy keeping everything evenly sized and big enough to battle the other seperatist vehicles without completly dwarfing them. Get it because in the long run, its better than most of the Wave 2 sets and is the best priced Clone Wars set so far.

A late start to wave 3(for me anyway!)

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 16 August 2009

As stated, this is my first of the Star Wars Clone Wars wave 3 line. I was too busy buying transformers (I do have other hobbies). The set itself is fantastic and very well built. It is a lot taller than I thought. The color scheme is surprisingly vibrant. For once the grey is too bright and makes the set less TV accurate. The dark blue does work well though. One common complaint I have heard is that the cockpit has no room for anything but the battle pilot. While this is true, certain pieces can be moved to fit a standard minifigure. I really dont understand the antena on the cockpit door but it isnt a complaint. The door opening feature works a lot better than I thought. The area where the Viceroy sits is cramped, but it keeps the figure from sliding around.

The figs are wonderful. Nute Gunray is obviously the star of the set. His hat is entirely new and covers about half of the back of his head. His outfit is a little boring, but otherwise, very TV accurate. Gunrays head is supposed to be faded green (like most Nemodians) but the grey works okay. They could have just used the green dementor head instead. Senator Farr fits into the story (as seen in episode 8 Bombad Jedi) but is kind of useless and random. I just stuck him in my attack shuttle. Same old droids, but its okay because we can always use more. The droids came with 2 straight arms so I took 2 of my old "megaphone" blaster droids and simply converted them.

Pros:
Okay price
Figures
Everything can be used with with regurlar Star Wars sets
Good features
The landing gear works
Gunray isnt too "Clone Warsy"
Another Rodian

Cons:
The shade of grey is too bright
Lets face it: Senator Farr is boring
Not long enough

Overall:
An excelent set. You dont have to be a clone wars fan to enjoy this one. Sorry for the long review guys! :)

Simply Perfect

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 09 August 2009

I give a lot of 5 brick reviews but this set is just outstanding. The jeep is virtually flawless and works with the Iny 4 sets too. The truck is excellent too mainly because of its size and movie accuracy. Im glad lego included the horse too.

Pros:
The size of the vehicles
The sheer detail and movie accuracy is amazing
3 Nazis
A weapon for every character
The horse

CONs:
No Ark, just a golden treasure chest.

Overall:
If youre looking for a set that will blow your mind, pick it up(but good luck finding it!)

Wasted potential

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 30 June 2009

This was a good set by the looks of the box and the design of the base. Unfortunately, this is (in my opinion) one of the worst agents sets. The base is flimsy and unstable. I was very disappointed with my first breakjaw fig. He looks truly stupid and has a pointless jaw piece. He is easily the worst bad-guy. The cycle saves the set. It is one of the most detailed and realistic agents vehicle in a while. I was dissapointed with charges head. It has no dual side expression and has no hair-piece. Therefore, the extorshinests at lego force you to purchase a $50 dollar and over set to obtain charge.

Pros:
The motorcycle
The robo crocs

Cons:
The base itself. It was too flimsy and felt incomplete
Stupid break jaw
The fact that charge has no hair is stupid

Overall:
If your a die hard agents fan, go for it. If not, mabye you should pass. It isnt impressive at all

Every bad-guy needs a giant robot

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 23 June 2009

This is the best Infernoe vehicle so far. The amount of new peices is awesome. The flame piece, the dome, and the vest are great additions to the Lego piece family. The jet is swooshable and pretty decently sized. The ATV is cool too, but the grappling hook is too long and is too hard to reel in. Infernoes escape jet is cool too and has a laser on the bottom. The flying torso is strange, but welcomed. The legs and lower body are blocky, but add to the classic look.

Pros:
The detail on the robot
The Agents and their squad
The random civilians
The new pieces

Cons:
The ridiculously long grappling hook

Overall:
An awesome set and a great addition to Infernoes army. I recomend it for any Agents fan and even star wars fans looking for a bad guy vehicle.

Bigger than I expected

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 23 June 2009

I'll admit, when I boughtthis set, I was doubtful. The box wasn't very helpful either as it was damaged and torn. I built the set quickly and eagerly. You start off with the figs and the detachable sub. The sub is a lot more detailed than I thought and has a printed sonar brick. The figs are boring and the chase I got has overly painted eyes. The boye or tower thing is better than expected and has a launching boat. The boat is terrible and feels incomplete. Either no boat or okay boat but not this. The speed boat is pretty big and has a lot of features. The sub detaches with ease and the new harpoon piece is pretty sweet. I like the color scheme too.

Pros:
The new sharks
The speed boat itself
The new harpoon
The tower thing

Cons:
Same agents
Same breackjaw
Crappy boat

Overall:
I like it. If you really like agents or just feel like buying a good set, pick it up. If not, mabye you should pass.

The military should use this jet design

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 17 June 2009

Seriously, if real jets looked like this, they would be swooshing across the battle field in no time. Well lets get down to it. I'd like to start off by saying that in these versus mode sets, one vehicle is usually better and bigger than the other. Not in this one. Lego really focussed on equallity this time. The jet alone looks like a $20 dollar set. The truck is amazing. It can fit a total of three people with a gunner seat in the back. The trucks suspension feature doesnt make the truck rock back and forth like the 4-wheeled pursuit vehicle.

Pros:
The jet is very large
The characters
The henchmen and his crazy machine guns
The size of the vehicles
There are stickers, but not that many

Cons:
The infernoe logo in the front is divided, making it look too wide
The jet has chrome and grey pieces. Choose one, but not both

Overall:
An excellent set that was worth the low cost of thirty dollars. Get it while you can and before Agents 2.0 phases them out. Oh, and it goes great with Swamp Raid.

Pros:
Simply everything

Cons:
Well, the spider copter is a bit opened at the bottom, but thats fine.

Overall:
A must-have for any Lego fan.

Wow, just wow

Posted by captain radda radda in United States on 15 June 2009

I was lucky enough to find this set, so I got it. This set is simply fantastic. It has so much detail and retains the natural volcanoe look. Dr. Infernoe looks just as pshycho as ever, and clawdette has a claw(wow, thats cool). Fire arm looks like a terminator and has a flamethrower/bazooka arm. The agents are nothing fantastic, but will do. In my opinion, the sets biggest flaw is the jetcopter. It is big, but it looks way to blocky. The stupid net doesn't even fire! Oh well, its no big deal. The base has details and looks great with Dr. Infernoes army behind it. It folds up pretty easily and the laser cannon is truly outstanding.

Pros:
Big
great money value
Minifigures are great
authantic look

Cons:
Agent Jet
Dr. Infernoes chair gets in the way of the door

Overall:
If you have the money and you can find it, BUY it. It is a must have
