Review: 42664 Travel Boat Adventure

Posted by ,

The last three Friends sets that I'll be reviewing this year fall under a familiar theme for Friends: vacation! The first of these is 42664 Travel Boat Adventure.

It's been a while since I've reviewed a Friends boat, which are usually excellent. I was happy to see that this boat is a catamaran – it reminds me of 41317 Sunshine Catamaran, which was a favourite of mine.

These are the reviews that we've published recently:

40773 The Goonies: The Walshes' Attic

The Walsh family attic was where the Goonies formulated their plan to search for One-Eyed Willy.

21363 The Goonies

This set will appeal a broad range of LEGO enthusiasts. It is beautifully designed and well constructed. It will be on lots of people's watch lists and I believe it will sell out quickly

41843 Family Christmas Tree Decoration

The model will make an attractive Christmas table centrepiece, but at a price

21358 Minifigure Vending Machine

21358 Minifigure Vending Machine is brilliantly designed, but its minifigures are the standout

10366 Tropical Aquarium

An intriguing and attractive display model that could have broad appeal were it not for its price

77239 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Despite a few inaccuracies, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS looks beautiful in LEGO form

This year's top ten best value sets, as nominated by you

Posted by ,

Last week we asked you to nominate sets released this year that you felt represented good value for money at full price.

Around 250 different sets made the list, suggesting that although many recent releases are not perceived to be good value, quite a lot are, by some of you at least.

I did consider running a poll to determine, from the ten sets that received the most nominations, the one that you think is the best value overall, but it became apparent that the one that received the most votes accumulated twice as many as the one in second place, making it a clear winner and a poll redundant.

So, after the break you'll find a full run-down of the top ten. There are some surprising entries, including the set at the top spot.

Review: 21363 The Goonies

For many reasons, The Goonies movie, that was released forty years ago in June 1985, holds a nostalgic place in many people's hearts, including my own.

Being able to review this set has taken me right back to my teenage years. I remember the movie well, and I have a link to where it was filmed: Astoria and the Oregon coast.

Read on and come on a journey with me down memory lane as I review 21363 The Goonies.
