Many LEGO set designers use our BrickLists feature to maintain a list of the sets they've worked on and often provide interesting insights about their involvement.

Once a week we publish an entry from one of their lists on the home page to increase awareness of this information and to encourage more designers to create them.

Ryan Van Woerkom wrote this about their work on 80019 Red Son's Inferno Jet:

The Inferno Jet began as a fairly normal plane but morphed into a hand-held blaster after an awesome sketch model by Niek van Slagmaat that fired two disc shooters with the pull of a trigger. I made a version that spewed multiple shots from tandem stud shooters like a flame thrower before arriving at the final double-shot spring shooter design. Graphic design by Paul Turcanu and Xiaodong Wen and the creative lead was Simon Lucas.

If you're a LEGO designer and you'd like to create a list of sets you've worked on, find out how to.

If you're a LEGO designer and you've already created a list you can opt in to having your notes included in this series of articles by editing the list and giving consent.

Major 8943 Axalara T9 vibes, but instead of being a technic shotgun, it's a handgun made with system pieces!

I think of 71736 : Boulder Blaster / 70747 : Boulder Blaster when I see this.

71736 also released in the same year (2021)

reading the note, it seems like they actually had to make sure they didn't get too close to get to that one design wise

Yeah if the original idea was a 6-stud shooter (flame thrower), and boulder blasters have that circle of spring loaders sounds about right, similar rapid fire functions instead of redesign to double-shot, especially since both shoot orange projectiles.

That's bull. ;-)

There are quite a few Monkie Kid sets that Ryan has worked on and with notes for almost all of them. Interesting reading.

Red Son seems like a young Dr. Inferno.
