LEGO Minifigures Online to launch Open Beta in June
Posted by Meiko,Funcom, the developers behind the next LEGO massively multiplayer online game, have announced that LEGO Minifigures Online will be launching an open beta this June. The game is also scheduled to be released for PC, iOS and Android this autumn. The game has been in closed beta for several months.
Funcom also includes a bit of other news with this announcement: LEGO Club Magazine readers will get a "special treat" in the June issue. The June issue of the magazine will include a full page dedicated to the online game, where there will be instructions to vote for which exclusive minifigure will be included in the September issue of the magazine with a special code. The minifigure will only be available to those with the code, and only LEGO Club Magazine readers can vote for which minifigure it will be.

Well, I'm certainly excited for this. I've been following the progress of this game since early in its development and I'm excited to finally get to play it. :D
i got the may-june early so i saw that.
I hope I can vote for a golfer fig. I've been wanting one for years.
I don't understand why the LEGO Club magazine says "Play it today!" Even though the beta doesn't open up until June...
i hope you can vote for a lego movie fig

there is were you can vote
I almost forgot about this game coming out - wish I had signed up for closed beta. Universe's downfall was lack of initial F2P and extremely limited once we got it. I liked the concept and graphics, I hope LEGO and Funcom don't make the same mistakes this time around. (Didn't Funcom do LU?)
I am somewhat interested, however I believe there are better online Lego building experiences, such as Blockland. What's even more funny is that Lego has already ready made an offer to the game's creator, Eric Hartman.
This probably means Lego CMF is going to keep being produced? into Series 13, 14, 15 etc etc?
"This probably means Lego CMF is going to keep being produced? into Series 13, 14, 15 etc etc?"
Didn't they already announce that future series will come with a code to activate the figure's digital counterparts in the game?
I guess that means yes. ;)
Hmm.. I can't seem to log in. It *is* the same account as you'd use on LEGO.com, right?
"The minifigure will only be available to those with the code", a code which will end up all over the internet within 5 minutes unless they're able to print a unique code (for the same character) in each copy of the Club magazine?
Hopefully, you'll be able to vote for S1 Minifigures... ;-)
@Jonbuddy Lego Universe was developed by Netdevil and Gazillion. I really enjoyed Lego Universe it just had a lack of content. I actually played the closed beta for a bit, didn't find it all that enjoyable (when it worked).
LEGO Universe had a lot of promise in the initial design stages, as a place to meet and share and build co-operatively. But after a lot of internal wrangling it just turned into a rather limited combat game, with so little content that hardly anyone was willing to keep paying for it. Any LEGO fan would cry if they ever saw all the designer and fan-insider content that got left by the wayside. The building part of it was promising, but it was way down the list of priorities to get its bugs fixed and worse, required a lot of fighting and levelling-up just to access it; that was a big mistake.
This is just another linear combat game, just like TT's licesned LEGO games. Is it free or are people expected to pay for it? Or does buying minifigures credit you with more game time? If you have to pay regularly, I'm not sure it'll hold the attraction for long, any more than LU did.
One thing I like is the lack of no 'members' so everyone gets the same game.
will the exclusive minifigure be avaible in all countries? i dont know how it is in other countries, but in Denmark the magasine is free, and there have not been something with it before (since i signed up for it at least)
^It's not a free minifig. But a code to 'unlock' an exclusive playable character (that will be a minifig from the CMF theme).
Will the "special treat" come to nz?
By "exclusive" minifig, do they mean an actual minifig?
Will this minifig be available in the US issues.
It seems I only get a couple issues a year, when I should be getting six.
Even though Universe has some issues with its gameplay, I do still hope to see its revival along with the Collectible minifigures' MMO rather than just regard its as a previous failure. Excluding Simpsons, it looks like other special series wouldn't join this game?
Good news you can vote.. for your favorite series 3 figure.... ;-)
