Thanks for posting!
In the past few hours I have reviewed the U.S. sales page several times and have found nothing even approaching 50%. Does anyone know if further sales are forthcoming?
I look forward to celebrating May the Fourth online and in person (and a bit with my wallet)!
EDIT: FBTB does provide a list of all the May the Fourth Star Wars discounts from TLG, but as far as I can tell by viewing the set pages for each of the sets discounted at 50%, these sets, excepting one of the watches, are not currently available in the U.S. on Shop at Home. Has anyone else noticed anything like this? It appears that they all sold out - I'm guessing that is the last time they will be stocked.
Just placed an orde:
Death Star Troopers;
Jek-14 Starfigther (the ship has a discount);
Pick a Brick
Darth Revan
Poster
I didn't notice any SW sets 50% off for the US either. I ordered the Rancor Pit on sale and a few other smaller sets to get to $75
Not sure why the last part of the link (more-27965) is not highlighted. Just copy the whole address into your browser.
If the currently posted offering are going to be all of the sales, then you might as well check out TRU of all places and Walmart online for better prices. It totally shook up what I was going to buy:
Jedi Defender is $66 at TRU, on sale at lego.com for $81
Jabba's Barge is $88 at Walmart, on sale at lego.com for $108
I can basically buy the two sets I was looking to buy for $35 cheaper, spend probably $15 to get the Revan and still come out $20 ahead. At least that is what I'm hoping for...
Thoughts? Is everything posted as of now (1:30AM CST) or are they going to change it up more tomorrow or on the 4th itself?
The only thing I saw at 50% if I recall correctly was the Pre-Vizla Mandalorian fighter, but it is already sold out. Unless they make some changes tomorrow, it will be an underwhelming sale in my opinion.
Thanks for the input, I'm just at a lost at what to do at this point.
The 50% off sets are Malevolence, Pre Vizsla's Mandalorian Fighter and the Desert Skiff. All 3 sold out very early at LEGO.com so you'll have to get lucky at LBR for to catch a deal... Store by me has none of them
There were 3 sets, 9496, 9525 and 9515 at 50% off that was sold-out within 20mins.
At 12:00am on the May 3rd, I found only two sets are 50% off in US Lego.com. One is 9525, and the other I forgot. But now, the 9525 became the original price again.
I was waiting for any discount on Milennium Falcon in the US but it's only in Europe and Australia :_(. So, I went this morning to buy some set with discount, and all of them are sold. Good Job Lego!!! :@
the 50% ones were at least sold out at 4 in the morning us east coast time. I purchased jedi defender class cruiser. I plan to buy 6 battle packs for next purchase once my points from todays purchase arrives so I can get 5 dollars of! this time I will remember to link it to brickset
Went on at 12 A.M. today to purchase the 50% off Malevolence and Desert Skiff. The Malevolence sold out within 15 minutes. I was able to order it, but Lego.com sent me another e-mail saying it will be back ordered and won't ship with my other items. Hopefully I wasn't too late and they can find one in their warehouse to ship to me! Nevertheless my order still qualified for the May the 4th promotions.
I saw that only a few sets were 50% off. I noticed they were gone by the time I checked this morning. I recall 2012 May 4th, I ordered everything at 7:00 in the morning and went through fine. If I had done that this time, I would have missed out. Granted, I didn't order anything anyway because I've purchased almost all of those sets I wanted for much cheaper at other retail outlets. The exclusives are the only thing I really want and those are banned from sales.
No deals on the X-Wing or the Ewok village in the US. That's bull sharkey! I waited over a year for this deal to happen to the X-Wing.
Unless Lego is planning on whipping out something extra special on the eve of May the 4th, this year's promotions have been a real slap across the face. It's a waste of energy to click on the Lego.comSales&Deals banner these days. It's not too much to ask for a once a year promotion to exceed 5-15% off MSRP. A petty amount of VIP points, some stupid poster, and a random polybag just isn't enough to justify spending $75. Heck, in terms of sales, TRU Canada has a better promotion of between 20-25% off the majority of Star Wars sets... including the 2014 ones!
I wish the U.S got 15% off the Death Star like Europe did. Wish Lego would just do the same deals across the globe rather than giving certain places better deals.
Quite disappointed to say the least. I was hoping for a rebate on the ucs x-wing or economic incentive of some kind but nada . I was at TRU Canada this morning and all SW sets were on sale with much better rebates....
I really don't understand why lego has a different sale in US. I was hoping to get all the Death Star, Super Star Destroyer, X-wing, R2D2 etc that are on sale in Europe. Really disappointed... Also, I was up late on May 2nd night just to catch the sale and I still missed malevolence 3 minutes past 12AM.
You must be kidding US guys. US still have much better prices than Europe.
^^ Don't forget the UCS B-Wing went for peanuts on May 4th last year in the US.
The May 4th promotion is simply a means to reduce overstocks and old lines. You'd have to be naive to think otherwise. When the 2014 Star Wars sets were first released on LEGO US set they sold out quick. LEGO have made their money, replenished stocks and don't need to reduce at the moment. In the UK they've been slow movers and all retailers have started reducing them in the UK, hence LEGO UK knocking 15% off.
LEGO will never offer the same discounts internationally as stock levels and sales will differ country to country. They use whatever strategy necessary to shift units.....oh, and you get a novelty minifig
20 minutes. You gotta be kidding me.
20 minutes - that sounds about usual. But the deals are really subpar. Even TRU has deals better then these (minus the minifig).
For the USA: 9496 and 9525 were gone within 30 minutes. Seemed 9496 was gone within 10-15 minutes. I started as soon as possible and never saw 9515 in stock.
Definitely not impressed with the deals this year. Would have been nice to see some decreases on the 2014 sets...
However, snagged 75024, 75035, 75036, and 75037 to just barely cross the $75 threshold.
I was disappointed but not too surprised that there was no discount on the Ewok Village.
Maybe next year?
it is not 50% it it 10% off
Its a sad May the 4th when I go to lego.ca and have offers of only 10% off ( nothing off the sandcrawler !) then I go to toys R us and am offered 25% off most star wars sets.
Then after all of that I end up on ebay getting 40% off some random guy on the internet...
Come on lego...
May the 4th should be like Christmas to star wars lego fans...
I ordered the AT-TE yesterday. Unfortunately, it was out of stock, but they've gone ahead and shipped the poster and Revan. Now I just need to wait until they actually ship the set. :P
This was the biggest non-event I have seen in awhile.
