Blocks magazine update
Posted by Huw,
The editor of Blocks has been in touch to say that the magazine sold out at the majority of branches of WH Smiths this week. Additional stock has been sent out today so if you're still on the lookout for it, you can hopefully find it now.
Clearly this has demonstrated that there is a market for such a publication, so with luck we'll see more issues in the future.
Update: The magazine has a Facebook page and thanks to DrDave, I've now been able to find it :-)

This is promising news. even I went to search for it. Pretty ambitious since we are living in Norway. But anyway - in special places in centre of Oslo one can find many magazines from UK, so I am not losing hope...
I don't get to the UK until Saturday - hope there'll be some left! Will probably check every WH Smith on my way up the M1 from Folkestone to Leeds!
One idiot is now selling them for £19.99 on eBay!
I asked in the Derby WHS who said the date range of the magazine's availability is set to September. They had ran out, but they only had 7 delivered. I think they missed the point of the mag though, as they have it classed as a 'pre teen' magazine!
Been asking my local WH Smith to get it in for over a week now, should be getting it tomorrow : ) ! It's the only one they'll have in and only because i ordered it! Don't know why they haven't got a couple in anyway, just to test the demand?
ToOK two members of staff at Huddersfield to find it in with modeling magazines
What was the number to call for ordering a magazine outside uk.. Let's say NL?
WHSmith Leicester useless! Couldn't find a copy although showing stock! Beaumont Leys a different story - small shop and a 'look at me' type mounting in front of all the mainstream magazines. Plus a couple of copies on the counter. Well done to them!
^^ You can order a copy by phoning 0044 7858 892859 or emailing accounts [at] ppcmag [dot] co [dot] uk.
I wish they shipped internationally we miss out in Australia and I expect them to be highly priced on ebay :(
From what people are putting, it looks like it was only a small print run, and only from WH Smith. Also, Smiths has not classified it to make it clear as to what section it goes in, which could make it even harder to find, or those shops that have it selling it to the wrong audience, who will buy one, be disappointed, and never buy it again (making it less available for the rest of those who want it :-( ), or (hopefully), people who it was not intended for buy it, and get interested, and increase demand (and become new AFOLs in the process :-)
Anyway, no chance of getting it in Shanghai. Flying back to the UK today, so hope I can get one whilst I'm over...
How about digital copies?
Digital copies would be nice indeed. I'd subscribe right now.
I would subscribe to a digital format.
Found it in deepest Essex with the Antiques/special interest type mags
Found it on a top shelf... Next to some craft/baking/knitting magazines in my local Smiths at the beginning of the week. Had a flick through out of interest but may pick one up at a later date as there still seemed to be the same 5 on the shelf today when I passed through, maybe because no-one could find it :/
Went in all excited for my ordered copy today only to be told the warehouse had made a mistake and didn't have any!! They're now looking internally to find me one! Shame this magazine is only availble from this incompetant company!
Just back from a disappointing trip to my local Smiths - the system says 3 in stock, the staff say, none on shelves... And yes, they had no idea where it would be either...
Ordered the magazine from Germany. Got it 2 days later :-)
It is really worthwile for AFOLs. I hope we will get a new edition at least 2x per year.
I just ordered mine for shipment to the US:
"Hi rock99rock,
The magazine is only on sale in the UK shops at the moment, but we can send the special edition from the office to the US. Just pay £12.99 (includes postage) by Paypal using (email address here), and give your full address. The currency is Sterling Pounds (GBP).
We are going to launch the magazine in the near future, but do not have a date yet. You're on our database, so we will contact you as soon as we know and give you details about subscriptions and distribution.
Any problems, please email me
Kind Regards
Michelle"
Check Matthews comment above for the email address. Dont just start sending them money, make sure they have a copy to send you before doing so. $22 is ALOT for a magazine, but I've paid close to that for DuPont Registry and other forms of serious eye candy so its not too far out of the realm of possibilities. If it entertains then it'll be worth it for me. Plus, I'm showing my support for something I like, and hopefully they have seen a larger interest than they anticipated. This may help lower costs, spread distribution, etc. Good on 'em.
I had a frustrating trip to WHS Kingston last night. Previously, I was there after the release date and before they got them. Now I'm there after all 7 copies have sold.
Bummer.
I might just mail order it!!
G'day from Australia I ordered mine last Friday was shipped on the Monday now just waiting for it to arrive
I'm in Canada, I ordered mine monday and it arrived on Friday.
This magazine is a nightmare to try and find. Low stock or can be simply anywhere in the store. My wife is getting rather fed up with, " Oh there's a WHS. Can we just look for the magazine?"
Been and gone in Derby, pah. Expecting a call if they get more back in.
Ha! I got one at last! :-D
I was just in WHS in Richmond and they had two copies on the shelf, next to the computer game mags.
