I wonder who the pirate captain will be.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

According to the choice of the ships boring name it will be "Captain Brick". Meh. :o(

By in United States,

Soldiers sets?
Yes, please.

By in United States,

Well, it looks like there won't be another Imperial Flagship then. I do like the Pirates theme, so I plan to pick up a copy of each set. It helps that they all look relatively inexpensive too.

Gravatar
By in Viet Nam,

I wish they could do a pirate theme mixed up with steampunk

Gravatar
By in Australia,

If the pirate captain's name really is Captain Brick, allow me to say, "make him walk the plank."

I like that pirates is one of those themes that never really goes away. That's nice. Those smaller sets seem intriguing. Their names would indicate larger sets, but the prices clearly make them smaller. If we get a half-decent pirate ship out of the deal, I'm onboard.

By in Germany,

It is fantastic to see this theme reappear after the PotC sets are finally gone. Generic pirates, yaaarr!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome! I was afraid we wouldn't see a non-IP pirates theme for years after LEGO licensed and released all those Pirates of the Caribbean Sets.

The only thing I'd like is for a larger land-based set. I know the top set in any Pirates wave will probably always be a ship, but they still need somewhere to raid, like a village or lighthouse or something.. It'd be nice to have a larger and more detailed land-based set than the couple City-style facades that this set will probably be.

By in United States,

Hype intensifies. I hope they don't suffer from being "kiddish" like the latest iteration of Castle though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was hoping for a soldiers' fort similar in size to #6276 or #6277, but it looks like both are about the same size as before. There's still a chance though; the last pirates series' second 'wave' was the flagship, so perhaps this time around the fort will get the UCS treatment.

By in United States,

Captain Brick? Meh. I'm calling him Brickbeard.

Ooh. I wonder if they'll use the Loot Island baseplate for Treasure Island. Either way, Soldiers' Fort sounds good.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Oh yes, once again lets enjoy some pirate ships and loot!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Looks nice, I've never been really a pirate fan, but if they are nice, I might pick one up. hope the outpost and fort dont have an ugly baseplate... :s

Gravatar
By in United States,

There is still an unknown pirate ship seen in a picture of the LEGO PMD office. Based on it's size I don't think it's "The Brick Bounty" (Wouldn't be priced at $89.99). Could possibly be a new ship released in 2015 or 2016.

By in Canada,

I love Pirates, but I'm a bit disappointed at the set names and price points. Nothing new, at all. I hope Soldier's Fort is modular like #6242 was. Still waiting for that pirate tavern set :)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Kiddish? These absolutely will be targeted towards their main target market. What made you think Lego caters to adults? I'm sure they will throw us an adult oriented boat though. Oh they already did. Its called the Sea Cow. :P

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Interesting but I am more interested in the "upcoming" construction line (hopefully those sets have a Sci-Fi feel to them.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Oeh nice!
Big change I will get from each set at least one copy. But you never know.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome! Can't wait... so long as they don't pull a '13 Castle and make the sets bland. Surprisingly affordable sets for the most part though... looking forward to these either way.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really dig the name of the ship! It's something that can appeal to kids and adults, I think. Adults because, hopefully, we actually get the reference, and kids because they will get the word-play of "brick", too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome! Besides the ship, the soldier's fort sounds interesting. Based on the price it could be a pretty decent size set. :)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Can't wait for the pictures!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Interesting that 2 of the sets are 20$

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Based on the names it looks like a very similar lineup and cast to the 2009 theme with soldiers vs pirates... Which is no real problem as I bought all that line except the exclusives (Imperial Flagship and Shipwreck Hideout) It gets some more use out of the classic soldier had mould and more cannons! Still severely underwhelmed with the name of the pirate ship Brick(beard's) Bounty

@UtarEmpire + TannerTheHunter - that is always a risk, but they could still have good things to incorporate with older sets, such as minifigs or parts and considering they're generally low priced that will help

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

I loved the Pirates theme as a kid in the 1980s, still love those old sets right now (having not been LEGO-active for the better part of the last 20 years). Was kind of disappointed they weren't around anymore, so I'm pretty sure I'll be getting one of each of these sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wasn't the name of the ship based on a contest?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Pretty underwhelming...let's hope for a more substantial pirate ship, a civilian outpost or ship of some kind (pirates plunder, and they never have anything to attack other than soldiers), in the summer sets if there are any. Something different would be awesome, kind of like the windmill set in Kingdoms.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The names sound good. I'm hoping for some new/rare coloured gems or other treasure, I'm tired of all the clear, green, red and light blue ones.

It is disappointing that impulses seem to be gone for good. It was nice when pretty much every theme got a nice little £3-5 set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey guys, www.thebrickfan.com has 3 new rumored set lists up for Top Gear, Creator, and LEGENDS OF CHIMA as well as some Simpsons-related news that a lot of people are not going to like at all.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A Top Gear theme? Oh, just shoot me now.

New Simpsons minifigs?! Ok, maybe shoot me after I get those.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, Top Gear or some licensed Racers thing. Why isn't this an actual piece of news yet?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope it isn't like recent castle. Not my cup of tea. Not sure how it sold with children though.

I can't see any reason why they won't change the soldiers again. The last series was from 2009, and to sell more figures they will update them (just like the constant stormtroopers changes). I'd like more consistency so I can amass armies easier. If they keep changing army builders what is the point?

The ship name is boring, but hopefully it will look good.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@PicnicBasketSam - Usually news makes its way around before it winds up here, because I think Huw likes to print more than just rumors. Other than the April Fools articles, you can usually trust what shows up on Brickset, and I'd like it to stay that way.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

A rumoured link with Top Gear is interesting since it's a BBC property isn't it? Now what other famous BBC property is currently in Ideas form? Could Lego be linking up with the BBC?

Now that's how to spread a rumour!! :)

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Brings back the hope for an updated version of either the amazing #6274 Caribbean-Clipper or the great #6276 Eldorado-Fortress

Gravatar
By in United States,

bout time the land lubbers came back! yarrr!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmm... I like the Pirate theme and all, but the repetition of sets (like with Castle...) annoying- We've only gotten one good Imperial ship in, what, 14 years?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@SprinkleOtter: That's because there haven't been a lot of waves of pirate sets in the past decade. A lot of kids have never had an opportunity to own a LEGO pirate ship, desert island with hidden pirate treasure, or imperial fort before (a seven-year-old kid in 2015 would have been just three years old when the Pirates of the Caribbean sets were released, and just one year old when the first wave of Pirates sets were released) , so you can't exactly release a new pirates theme and not include those things.

If there are more waves of Pirates sets, we'll definitely see more diversity in their subject matter, because all the basics of the Pirates theme will already be on store shelves and the new sets will need to stand out. But when it's been four years since the last full wave of Pirates sets, you basically have to start from scratch.

Anyway, it's true that these are really just the basics of what a Pirates theme has to include, so there aren't a lot of surprises here. I am curious what "Shipwreck Defense" might include at such a low price point. I hope there ARE additional waves of Pirates sets and it's not going to be one-and-done like the 2013 Castle sets were. Castle, Pirates, Space, and City are some of the LEGO Group's evergreen themes, so it's frustrating that only the last two seem to regularly get a decent number of sets released.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@SprinkleOtter: Hold on one moment! And I just realized you completely ignored #10210 Imperial Flagship from 2010! How is THAT not a good Imperial ship? It's arguably one of the best LEGO seafaring vessels of all time!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ Anchir.
I can understand that those are the basics, but it seems like every now wave of Pirates and Castle is exactly the same- like LEGO is merely recycling sets.

Um, I said we DID get a good Imperial ship, but just one. :P Too bad there wasn't anything for it to fight... Ah, well, I guess it'll just have to make up for all the undersized Imperial ships :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sounds a bit bland/generic/(insert negative adjective here), but, ehhh, I don't know yet... I think I'll have to see pictures before I make any judgement. I just hope the sets are better than their names!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

@Green Brick Giant-

Your memory is correct. Rebrickable? Had a contest, you could enter 5 names only and the winner gets a signed copy.

When it was announced that it was THE SAME NAME as the last ship- everyone spewed on the boards.

And with good reason too

Gravatar
By in United States,

The same name, just worse. Sigh....

Also, it looks like there's some kind of minidoll Castle theme "Elves" next year. That is a slap in the face of Castle fans.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I find it odd that this list ended up on Brickset. Eurobricks is abuzz today with leaks from multiple sources that confirm each other. One of these sources is the origin of this list, but none of the other lists for City, Friends, Technic, Supercars (Top Gear?), Ultra Agents, Chima, Ninjago and 'Elves' or whatever it is called was posted here. I understand the policy of not posting rumors, in fact I like it. But why post the Pirates list and not the others?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ahh, looks like the usual—A shipwreck, an outpost, a deserted island, a remake of the old Eldorado Fortress, and then a remake of the Black Seas Barracuda... Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'd like to see how they spin them this time, and it's always nice to see them returning to some of their origins.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@TomKraut: I agree, Brickset could post some more of the rumored set lists. It's... annoying.

Overall though, the Pirates sets sound interesting. Treasure Island is a must-have!!! :-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Even though I never got any of the old pirate sets I'm really looking forward to seeing these sets!.:D (if there real. :P )

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yay, Pirates are back - they have the best soldiers

Gravatar
By in United States,

@PicnicBasketSam: Hang on, the "Elves" theme is a slap in the face of Castle fans? That makes about as much sense as saying the Galaxy Squad theme was a slap in the face of Hero Factory fans, or the Legends of Chima theme was a slap in the face of Fabuland fans.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

After poring over TLG's current pricing policy, the UK Pirate sets should be:

- Shipwreck Defence: £7.99
- Soldiers' Outpost: £17.99
- Treasure Island: £17.99
- Soldiers' Fort: £34.99
- The Brick (beard's) Bounty: £69.99

This is based on translating the US prices on [email protected] to sterling rather than straight from the NZ prices. If I did the latter it would make the sets inconceivably cheap. I still think it's a bit odd to have 2 sets exactly the same price in the same wave of a classic Lego theme though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So excited to see these sets.

Gravatar
By in France,

If you look at the visuals of the German seller (who spoil by putting the sets on his website), do not expect something huge...Unfortunately very poor sets...
