Arctic Truck

©2015 LEGO Group

just2good has released images of first-half-of-2015 Technic sets in video form, or you can view them here in the database if you prefer.

They look to be a mixture of 'more of the same' (race truck, quad bike and loader), innovative (Arctic truck and 24hr race car), and the 'can't have too many of' (motorcycle).

By in Netherlands,

After a good Technic year in 2014 (Volvo), I think I will skip the Technic sets of 2015, which possibly the Arctic truck as an exception.

By in United Kingdom,

Until I know the true functionality of the 24 Hour Race Car and the Arctic Truck, I'll hold off, but they are definitely the most interesting to appear in the 1H wave at any rate.

The race truck baffles me though. It wasn't among any of the prelims circling the net, and that image is clearly of the race truck that was released a few years ago.

The Arctic Truck is very innovative by linking to the current City theme. There should be more of this cross branding to support and enhance through the themes.

^^ Good spot -- I thought it looked similar, but not the same!

^ It does look to be the best of the bunch, doesn't it.

Bar the repeat Race Truck, that is a fantastic range of models!!! Go LEGO :)

By in Italy,

42039 looked so great in the preliminary pic, Official set doesn't.

By in Puerto Rico,

Never been interested in technic but that truck up there looks awesome.

By in Canada,

The truck even has the same pieces as the old one. Just wish they could at least have changed the colour.

By in United States,

the image on the box is identical as well, does LEGO re-release sets often? i know they did it for some older sets but this seems odd

By in Australia,

Damn, 42039 got changed... a lot. I was really looking forward to this and I can't decide if I like the new version better or worse.

I guess that's what you get for drooling too much over leaked images.

The formula off-roader looks awesome. I did like the sleeker headlights of the preliminary race car, but that can be easily made.

The Formula Off- Roader looks fun, and both the 24 Hours Race Car, and Arctic Truck look cool. I will have to get at least one of them.

Glad to get a new motorcycle. It will display well with the off-road bike they did recently.

By in Netherlands,

As far as i can tell the only difference between 8041 and 42041 is the new rim mold.

I'm happy Lego decided to re-release it and hope that this time it will be widely available in the Netherlands because 8041 was never officially released here as far as I know. (Wasn't that set a store exclusive?)

By in Malaysia,

The front of the 42039 is a disappointment. I know prelim pictures are not final but the previous version had much sleeker headlights than the current version.

The previous headlights were like the Audi Le Man racer with its sleek LED headlights. This new round headlights design will get some getting used to.

The arctic truck lokks awesome, I'm probably gonna get it :)

It's interesting how the arctic truck looks orange and we get excited at the thought of that. But, I suspect it has less than 20 orange pieces in it!

Simply Just 2 Good.
Alot of new curved panels, and that new A-shaped panel on the yellow truck!

Exactly the same race-truck? Happy to get the new one, I missed out on the first. Will this set a precedent, I wonder. Please rerelease the 8265 crane truck, or the 8265 front loader from 2009, Lego, Take my money!!!

By in United States,

Um, why are they releasing 8041 again? I can tell it is exactly the same as before, and it wasn't a very good set then, either... :P

By in Germany,

The yellow panels ("triangle"-shaped) on the back of the mining truck seem to be new parts, also the orange 3x 11 panels on the Arctic Truck (new colour here)...

By in Ireland,

The first time around that race truck wasn't widely available but it wasn't that great a set. Might have something to do with the other racing theme that's coming next year?
I'll always buy the Technic motorbikes but from the box picture this doesn't look too exciting.
The Le Mans car looks good but I wonder how much functionality it'll have besides steering and an engine. Surprised it's a generic car and not a Porsche considering they have the license now.

42039 has changed dramatically from the prelims. It's just pictures but I think I like the official version better.

By in United States,

@ Huw. I count 22. :P

By in United Kingdom,

The not-Le Mans car is a going to look great opposite the not-F1 car on my shelf. Love it.

By in United States,

Le Mans Racer, Arctic Truck, Street Motorcycle: Sheer awesome.
Cherry Picker, Mining Truck, and Race Truck: Not bad, just rehashes.
Quad Bike, Formula Off Roader: UGLY

That just about sums up my thoughts. Too bad my local Target, which only has the small sets, won't have any of the good ones.

Technic has been getting better every year but what a step backwards! These are some disappointing sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

There may indeed be too many Technic Motorcycles, but I gotta say that one looks nice! I was really hoping, though, when I first read "Arctic Truck" that it'd be a reboot of #8660 :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not super into Technic, but regardless these all look great. The 24 Hrs Racer and Arctic Truck look fantastic, probably since nothing like them has been done before; there have been lots of Technic race cars but nothing like this one and the closest thing I can think of to the Arctic Truck is the Snow Groomer from ages ago.

Won't be picking them up just cause Technic isn't my thing, but they look great.

By in United Kingdom,

I have never purchased a Technic set in my life, but next year I may have to. These look great and should be extremely worthwhile sets. :-)

By in Netherlands,

Awesome sets. A big leap from the crappy 2014 year. All I want is all pieces in the most common colours. This year will deliver a lot of them. Orange 7 and 9 hole bars, a lot of green stuff. Stunning artic thing, gives a bit of feeling of maybe best ever: Unimog. Black chain tracks! One deception: why is the blue the new bright blue? Please complete the regular blue colour with all types of wings and panels.
