Review: 11370 Stranger Things: The Creel House

Stranger Things debuted ten years ago and was an immediate cultural phenomenon, becoming a great tribute to 1980s pop culture and cementing Netflix as a huge force in entertainment. 2019's 75810 The Upside Down recreated the humble beginnings of the series and is a beloved set in its own right.
In the years and seasons since, the terrifying Vecna emerged as the true big bad pulling the strings of the Upside Down. Born as Henry Creel, his family home has now been immortalized in brick form as 11370 Stranger Things: The Creel House, depicting scenes from the fifth and final season of the series.
The model not only features a brilliant transformation function, but there is much more to discover, as well. This unique set definitely warrants a closer look.

Box and Contents
The typical 18+ branding adorns the box, with a light blue glow behind the model. The black design is appealing this time, as it matches the dark tone of the source material.
The back showcases the features of the set, as well as the interior of the house. Its dimensions (29 centimeters / 11.5 inches high and 50 centimeters / 20 inches wide) are also documented.
The box contains twenty-two numbered bags and two sticker sheets. I could harp on the amount of stickers (25!) and poor color matching with the pieces in some instances, but that is a usual problem for LEGO and I don't see that changing anytime soon, so I won't dwell on it!
Two reddish brown Technic track rod elements are loose in the box. This piece last appeared in reddish brown eight years ago, in 41195 Emily & Noctura's Showdown.
Three instruction booklets are provided - one for the Creel house and most of the minifigures, one for Steve and his BMW, and one for Jonathan and the WSQK radio van.
The usual introduction common to 18+ set instructions is included in the first booklet, with the beginning explaining the Creel house, as well as showing a timeline of important events that occurred there.
We also get a message from the LEGO Icons design team, with some concepts of the transformation function!
Finally, we see some photos of the cast, in both live-action and minifigure form, and construction begins...
Minifigures
Eleven, or Jane Hopper, is arguably the main protagonist of Stranger Things and is the one responsible for Vecna's existence, so this set would be incomplete without her. She looks great, sporting the training outfit worn throughout season five. I also like the serious alternate expression, which is common when she uses her powers. She is holding what I can only assume is a Gatorade bottle, used following a rigorous training session.
Mike Wheeler is Eleven's boyfriend and the leader of the party. He sports the jacket and shirt seen earlier in season five, and the hair piece chosen seems appropriate.
Dustin Henderson is a fan favorite character, and his likeness is captured remarkably well! His hair and hat combo piece returns from 2019, but with a new color and printing, which looks superb. I love the Hellfire Club shirt, which Dustin wears to honor the late Eddie Munson, who sacrificed himself in season four. However, the tan jacket he wears over it is missing, which is odd.
Lucas Sinclair is another member of the party. His hair and facial expressions suit the character well, with the hair being a new mold unique to the set. The WSQK radio station shirt matches Lucas' appearance when at the hospital with Max in season five. His boombox makes sense, too, as he uses one to wake Max up from her coma.
Stranger Things starts with Will Byers being abducted and taken to the Upside Down. By season five, that experience had permanently altered Will, granting him psychic abilities to tap into Vecna's hive mind. I love the alternate expression depicting these powers, as well as the torso, which corresponds with one of the outfits he wears in the final season. However, his hair piece is not perfect, and I would have developed a new mold in this instance. Nevertheless, this basic one suffices. Like many minifigures in the set, Will carries a flashlight.
Robin Buckley was introduced in season three as a friend of Steve Harrington's, and she forms a close bond with Will in season five. The character has become beloved by fans, but I am not sure this minifigure does her justice. The mold is fine, but Maya Hawke's hair is more brown than red, so the color feels off. Furthermore, she deserved a new face print, as this existing one used for characters like Princess Leia just doesn't fit the character. For an accessory, Robin carries a dark red 1x2 masonry brick, representing the brick she uses to smash the Creel house's front door window in season four.
The aforementioned Steve Harrington also makes his minifigure debut in this set. The usual babysitter of the group was conspicuously absent from 75810 The Upside Down, despite being in the series from the beginning. Like Robin, I wish I could say LEGO did him justice, but there is a lot to criticize. Firstly, the faces do not fit Joe Keery's likeness at all, with prominent cheekbones printed for some reason. And although Steve is nicknamed 'The Hair', I dare say that this hair piece is too big for him! Han Solo's stylish hairdo would have worked much better. The rest of the minifigure, however, is accurate to Steve's look in season five.
Steve's ex-girlfriend is Nancy Wheeler, who looks almost perfect in minifigure form. The hair piece, used for Gabby from Gabby's Dollhouse, looks spot on, and the facial expressions are very good. Nancy's sweater matches the show in both design and colors, though I do wish her jacket were over it, as it is in the series.
Nancy's boyfriend, and Will's brother, is Jonathan Byers, whose minifigure suffers from similar problems as Robin and Steve. The hair piece seems very inaccurate, and the light color is inappropriate; I definitely would have gone with something else. His head is another reuse from several minifigures, and unique printing would have been preferred. Even the torso is reused from Ron Weasley in 76454 Hogwarts Castle: The Main Tower, which is unfortunate.
Max Mayfield was introduced in season two of the series and quickly befriended the party, becoming Eleven's best friend and Lucas' girlfriend. The minifigure's resemblance to the onscreen character is extremely close, with an appropriate head piece (which was exclusive, but has since reappeared in 21369 The X-Files), a unique hair piece, and authentic torso printing. 'Mad Max' is equipped with a walkie talkie.
While comatose and trapped in Vecna's mindscape, Max aids Holly Wheeler, the younger sister of Mike and Nancy, who finds herself there as well. She is attired in clothing found in Henry Creel's sister Alice's room, and carries a telescope. The ochre yellow hair piece was created just for this minifigure and looks marvellous.
Mr. Whatsit is a friendly persona of Henry Creel, used to lure the children of Hawkins, Indiana and abduct them. The hair piece is the same color as Holly's and also looks great. The exclusive head and torso fit the character well, and a stopwatch accessory completes the minifigure.
The highlight of the set's minifigure selection is Henry's true form, Vecna. The iconic villain looks phenomenal in LEGO form. I love the tan and purple highlights, and the special claw element is very cool. The dark red color isn't perfect, but it's probably the best match for how Vecna's skin tone appears in most scenes, particularly in season five.

The Completed Model
Steve drives a 1983 BMW 733i car - nicknamed Beamer - throughout Stranger Things, and this is one of two vehicles included in the set. It looks pretty good on the whole, with accurate dark red and black bodywork.
The license plate on the rear of the car is a reference to the set number of Stranger Things: The Creel House.
I really appreciate the curves and detailing of this model, as well as the spacious interior, which allows Steve (or any minifigure you want) to fit in the car easily.
A nice bonus is the ability to fix the radar dish from the WSQK radio van to the top of the car, which is done early in season five by Dustin due to the van's unreliability. It looks a bit silly like this, but then, it does in the show too!
As I mentioned, the WSQK radio van also features in this set. The party takes over the radio station as their base of operations during the fifth season, and use the van frequently.
I love the colors used on the van, which match the source material, and the shaping is true to the actual vehicle as well.
The interior is even larger than the BMW's, as one would expect. Two minifigures can sit up front, and the back has plenty of space for accessories or other minifigures.
Before getting to the Creel house, some supplementary builds must be discussed. The party is commonly associated with using bikes to get around Hawkins, and one is included here. This bike belongs to Will, according to the box. The mailbox and lamppost are also nice, and help fill out the scene.
The Creel family house is the star of the set, and looks wonderful. The colors are spot-on, and I love the detailed exterior. This photo does a great job of illustrating how accurate the front of the house looks compared to the real one, which was filmed in Rome, Georgia.
One of the more iconic parts of the exterior is the front door, with a stained glass window depicting a rose. This looks great and is totally accurate, while the surrounding archway and supports also appear authentic. A stone path follows from the stairs, with some studs allowing for minifigure posing. Bushes sit on both sides, which are simple but effective.
In 1959, the Creel family moved into the house and Henry soon manifested powers. This led to the devastation of his family. The house is quickly abandoned and boarded up, with its dilapidated appearance in the 1980s depicted here. The boards can be removed, though, should you wish.
I don't like the skeletal trees much, as there are very obvious exposed Technic pins and other parts. However, the reason why they look like this will become apparent later!
Many different sloped elements are used to capture the architecture of the roof, which looks fantastic. The two chimneys are in the proper places and also look good to me.
Hidden in the central second story window is a conspicuous grandfather clock...
...which leads us to the grand transformation! Pull the trees apart from the house and it opens before your very eyes, allowing a peek into Vecna's Mind Lair. See here to view the process more clearly, or see below.
The transformation is incredibly smooth, and works back and forth seamlessly. The building process of this is intensive, but certainly worth it in the end. I also like the subtle rearrangement of the rooms, making the house look quite chaotic! We can also see some stickered details that were hidden before, such as shots of the Upside Down, and the twisted mindscape version of the Creel house.
Again, the skeletal trees aren't ideal, but I enjoy seeing them transform into dead trees when the house is pulled apart and track rods pull the branches down. You win some, you lose some, I guess!
The transformed Creel house makes for an incredibly striking display piece, with the grandfather clock in the center of the action and very prominent.
Remove the clock, and Mr. Whatsit can be found standing behind it! That begs the question: what is going on inside the house?
The clock is a hallmark of Vecna's curse and its hallucinations; when you see it, it's likely game over for you! The model is quite detailed for such a small scale, and it looks awesome.
Let's transform the house back to normal and head inside...
Mr. Whatsit appears inside when the house is 'normal', but you'll have to wait a bit to see the other side! I think the hallway wallpaper design looks nice, though the area seems a little strange when no minifigure is placed there.
In the foyer on the first floor, you'll find a lamp and old-fashioned telephone, both true to the real life house.
A quaint living room can be found to the left, with some cleverly constructed furniture. The newspaper clipping references the West End and Broadway play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which explores Henry Creel's childhood before his banishment to the Upside Down.
As a child, Henry discovered a fascination with spiders, foreshadowing his dark tendencies. A book about spiders can be found on the bed in his room, as well as a jar used to catch them. Present on a chest is his drawing of the Mind Flayer, with a design inspired by black widows.
A spider can be found in the attic, as well as candles that Henry lit while studying arachnids.
The attic contains all of the necessary details present in season four, when Lucas and Max are waiting to distract Vecna as part of the party's plan to kill him in the modern day.
Notable details here include a lantern, Max's Walkman used to lure Vecna, and the drawing she creates in response to Lucas asking about a movie date if they survived the confrontation.
In season five, Henry disguises himself as Mr. Whatsit and kidnaps Holly Wheeler, as well as other children. Holly takes a liking to his sister Alice's bedroom in the mindscape version of the Creel house, and its LEGO counterpart looks pretty close to the series. Next to the fireplace is a fire poker that Holly later uses against Henry, and Henry's fedora can be found on the bed.
The dining room is an important part of the Creel house's lore, as that is where Henry murdered his mother and sister. It was imperative to include here, and the designer has done a great job of recreating the table, chairs and hutch.

Again, I really love this function, and it is just as effective on the other side. However, I would not necessarily display the set this way; it just looks more interesting from the front.
The mechanism at the top assists in the transformation, and it's a bit distracting, but that couldn't really be avoided.
One of my favorite references in the set is a nod to Max Mayfield's escape to the Hawkins cemetery, when she initially evaded Vecna in season four's Dear Billy.
When transformed, the hallway spins and shows Vecna's mindscape instead of the wallpaper. Vecna stands in front of it, ready to give the party a living nightmare!
Combined with 40891 Stranger Things: WSQK Radio Station
When 11370 Stranger Things: The Creel House was released in January 2026, it was accompanied by a gift-with-purchase, 40891 Stranger Things: WSQK Radio Station.
The WSQK radio van works well with the radio station, and I would recommend that fans of the series look to acquire this small set if they're able to. Doing so also gives you Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper to complete the main cast.

Overall
When rumors spread that LEGO Stranger Things would be returning, I had high expectations for the resulting model. Fortunately, my expectations have been greatly surpassed! This is the quintessential Stranger Things set, with a varied selection of minifigures, an iconic location, and cool references. I have minor complaints, and not every minifigure is perfect, but 11370 Stranger Things: The Creel House hits way more than it misses.
A lot of this set's success is owed to the transformation function, and that was the make-or-break factor for the model, given how much is dedicated to making it work. Fortunately, it works beautifully; the transformation is unlike anything seen in a LEGO set before. It is fun to play with and also looks stunning on display, no matter how you configure it.
However, the sheer quality of the design has commanded a high price: £249.99, $299.99 or €279.99 feels just a bit too expensive for a set of this size, particularly in the US. Even for a set as well-made and cool as this, I can understand some hesitation. But for fans of the franchise looking for a rich building experience and a unique conversation-starter of a display piece, if you choose to part with your cash, you will be deeply rewarded by the finished product.

Look, we're already collectively suffering from Billund Syndrome in that we're trying to befriend our captors by giving them increasing amounts of money for the same amount of stuff or less. I don't think we should -also- get numb to the fact that the increase in stickers and decrease in prints and print-quality "isn't going to change any time soon". It's like that one song goes - "if you tolerate this, then your children will be next".

I do like this house, I like the transformation-sequence which - hey, Hidden Side cribbed from Stranger Things, and now Stranger Things cribs right back. That seems fair. I also like Steve's ridiculous hair. And speaking of hair, Lucas' flat-top is amazing. I hope to see that appear in other sets, and in fact, real life. Who cares about mullets? Flat-tops is where it's at, man.

Not a hot take, but I think losing the opening Playset-style “feature” could have made this 50 dollars less. And after you do the house opening once or twice the fun is over and it becomes a display piece anyway.

Oh look - Lego CAN create a classic 80s/90s van look, unlike that abomination in 21330.
I still prefer 75810 to this one (and I'm constantly kicking myself for not picking it up), but I do really like the transformation feature on this.
My brain wants to make a joke about needing a Brand New Day Sadie Sink figure since both she and Eleven were moving in the direction of having a Dark Phoenix Saga moment.*
(* For those who weren't tracking, Stranger Things snuck in a lot of X-Men references.)
Quite a reasonable looking building, even with no interest in 'Stranger Things'. Personally I'd be far more likely to buy if it was available in a £50 cheaper set without any minifigures. (Apparently I have 1533 minifigures, none of which I would have bothered with if minifig-free sets were available!)

Everything from 2019 forward is safe. They announced the fix was started in 2019 sets.
The scale and transforming features of this set make it a great companion for the Hidden Side range, especially since a few of the later sets are “corrupted” by blue and black elements.

Never watched even a single second Stranger Things, but the Upside Down set seemed like an amazing set nonetheless. Just by the unique concept alone. I don't get that here. Probably a great set for the fans, but also just for the fans.
The one thing that stood out to me was the van. Positively just in being one of the best looking vans Lego ever made in this scale, a bit less so in those stickers with what might just be the worst color matching we've seen in years. Only the worst is good enough......which at this price point is just beyond shameless. And even if it won't change, a reviewer should never overlook this disregard of quality standards.

I didn't overlook it - I acknowledged it - and it is a major issue, I agree. I just don't see this changing, and it doesn't affect my opinion of the set much, as most sets have this issue. It's just not worth me dwelling on it for too long. That's what the comments are for. :-)

I still live in dread of brittle brown (and brittle dark red). When I got out of my dark ages, I was fascinated by these sexy new colours, and I bought quite a few sets heavily featuring them. I still have some Monster Fighters-sets MISB and I'm looking forward to building them - but I'm not looking forward to some of those pieces crumbling to dust in my hands, my powerful hands.
The real horror isn't the monsters, it's not even that Man is the greatest monster of all; the real horror is risking the wrath of Customer Service.

If a set relies too much on stickers to look decent, I simply won't buy it. More people should do that if they dislike a product, LEGO or otherwise. That's the only message a company understands.
However, your claim that LEGO has gotten more expensive on a PPP ratio is flat out incorrect, as is (sarcastically) attributing a Manic Street Preachers song to Chumbawamba. Especially when inflation is taken into account (which it should), you'll see that, on average, LEGO pieces haven actually gotten a little cheaper over time. Of course, there are instances where that ratio is out of whack, as far as you'd consider this to be a good metric to calculate the price of a set, but there are still plenty of sets where the PPP is below the coveted 10 cents.
Concerning the set on review: Looks nice, but essentially another haunted house, just in a different shade. Meh.

As long as Lego doesn't stop asking premium prices for products with glaring problems, just keep pointing that out.
BTW: props for including pictures of the sticker sheets! Seems to get more and more common on Brickset reviews, much appreciated!
I'd like to see the red car as a $10 City set, but I guess I'll just have to bricklink the parts instead. Too bad the van isn't built to have any playability or accessible interior besides the front seats. I'd like to build it too, but it'll take too much structural modification to make it worthwhile.
I think it's currently my favourite lego house in term of how it looks. I haven't build tudor corner yet, but I like it more than my modulars, very nice shaping with the roofs and it's not a completely flat facade. pillars give some nice depth too
"Beamer" is an Americanism that refers to ANY BMW. They're all beamers.

I just took this out of my wantlist not that long ago. I still haven't seen the final season and frankly I'll have to rewatch the earlier seasons to get the vibe going again.
The set looks good for what it is, especially compared to the real house. I just don't know if I have the affinity for it like I did back when the last set came out.
If I ever find a sale, maybe I'll consider it.
I'll also have to return to this review sometime after I watch the final season so I don't get too spoiled with stuff.
I'm surprised that it took this long for someone to review it. We didn't get a review when the set first released and the hype was fresh; we're getting it now. Eight months later, most people agree Season 5 sucked if they even remember it. The play feature is cool, though, and I like that edgier shows are getting LEGO representation.
not sure if anyone else finds this but my interest in this set dropped off a cliff after that abysmal finale. They fumbled it so hard I dont want anything to do with this show now, in stark contrast to how hyped I was for this set before January 1st.

Couldn't agree more. The last season ruined the entire show for me. The story is good, but the execution is terrible - I fast forwaded many parts to make it bearable. Even more boring than The Hobbit movies. The last 45 minutes of the last episode can be skipped entirely, it's like the 5 endings of The Lord of the Rings but easily predictable.

Seriously, what is up with all the recycled faces in such a high-end product? Same with a lot of faces in the LOTR sets. For such prices, the very least I expect is unique face prints on every MF
TBH, I'm kinda fine with the exposed technic pieces on the tree. Makes them look rotted, which helps with the haunted house-esque design.
I don't hate the late review--with so many of these large one-off sets it's easy to forget them. Better late than never!

Don't worry guys, the sticker sheet is actually a reference to the super secret ninth episode that will make sense of everything - including the unexpected timing of this Brickset review.
I have no opinion on the set or Stranger Things but I did want to say I’m fine with reviews coming out a bit late. I don’t think everyone is buying everything day one of release (I’m certainly not, and I don’t think they’d bother keeping sets on the shelves for 1-3 years if most people were) so there isn’t really a problem with it.
Well, I have one opinion: The transform thing is fun. I like moving wotsits.
When I see that grandfather clock I can Hear that disturbingly-eerie backwards-distorted chiming sound it makes (season 4 was peak for me).

I didn't even manage to get to the finale yet. I started the last season but just kept getting bored with overlong episodes and something better would pop up in my watch list.

Unfortunately I felt the same way, the last episode had its moments but generally felt like such a disappointment, season 5 as a whole was a bit of a mess in my opinion, after the excellent season 4 which I thought was so dark and gripping.

I figured the delay in the review was because they were pulling the same stunt as the creative team of Stranger Things with their huge gaps between seasons...
Either way, thanks for the efforts of bringing the review to us. I will agree with some other poster about how some of these can slip through the cracks once the hype dies down a bit.

Look, I don't like spoilers - but the show's been out and over for months now. The first episode of season 5 aired in Poland a whopping nine months ago. When something is an entire pregnancy long, you really need to take responsibility.
At some point - either directly, or through osmosis - you're going to find out what happens on page 569 of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", at the end of FFVII's disk one, or in Matthew 27:32-56. And most heartbreaking of all, what happens roughly 24 minutes into the 1986 Transformers-movie.
And it's okay. We've all been there. Just let it all out, big guy.

To be honest, I think the sentence in the introduction that says the set depicts events from series 5 was a pretty clear spoiler warning. But I’m sorry you missed it and saw something you’d rather you hadn’t.
