Tropical fish models from ReefScape
Posted by Huw,British company Tropical Marine Centre is offering a range of fifteen custom LEGO models of tropical fish for sale. They'll be available later this month exclusively at branches of Maidenhead Aquatics which you often see in garden centres as well as stand-alone stores.
They've been designed by Bright Bricks and just 500 of each model will be available. Bright Bricks also made a large ReefScape for the company, which will be on display on the Bright Bricks stand at Bricks 2014.
The full range can be seen on the ReefScape website where you'll also find parts lists, posters and instructions for the models so you can have a go at building them yourself.
Brickset does not receive a commission on sales made via the links in this article. It has been posted as part of our support for small LEGO related companies.

Checked our local Maidenhead Aquatics store this morning and they had the first set (Single Clownfish) in stock at £30 (123 pieces). They haven't been told when they will be getting further sets but have agreed to phone us as soon as they come in.
The back of the box confirms that they are coming out in 3 series.
$30 for that? I like the build, but for that or even higher, no thanks. I probably have all the parts already anyway.
EDIT: I just checked the site. Those are amazing, I particularly love the lionfish. The asking prices are too much, but the ones I can't build would be fairly cheap to Bricklink. I love where they are going with this!
Are the pieces holding the dinosaur tails the hollow stud

or the Clickits bracelet piece?

I really hope it's the former. But are they bright yellow, or a different shade? If they aren't bright yellow, it'll be a new color for both parts.
They are the former, and yellow.
I'm not really into aquatic sets or models, with the exception of ATLANTIS. I'll pass. ;-)
Nicely build!
I am guessing, looking at the size of some of the models, they can be a bit expensive.
Ah well living across the narrow sea I probably won't be able to get my hands on them anyway...
@CCC: I agree. The pricing is way too much. Money hunters, aren't they! Although, I must admit, this is a clever marketing plan, because hardcore collectors will want these desperately.
I saw Bright Bricks' reefscape at Sandown racecourse and it was awesome!
Unfortunately, models like this will always get price-per-piece comparisons and they could never compete with TLG. So they will always seem very expensive.
But as limited releases, they should sell ok, I suspect. And if not, they'll be on sale in a few months time ;)
