Posted by ,

Today's random figure is coltm10 Statler, The Muppets, a Collectible Minifigures figure that came in one set, 710330 Statler, released during 2022.

Our members collectively own a total of 23,350 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at Brick Owl or BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $7.40.

Look, this is what happens when you have critical without acclaim!

Oh ho ho ho ho!

Did the random figure database get erased when we swapped over to the new name? I know Waldorf was RMotD a while back but now I can't find the article anywhere.

"There's only one thing worse than being randomly chosen as Figure of the Day."

"What's that?"

"Being chosen on PURPOSE!"

"D'OH HO HO HO!"

Could it have been Random Set of the Day instead of Figure? Being a CMF, there’s not much difference between the two

I think a standard minifigure head would have been the way to go here, personally.

No, that’s not showing up either.

A set needs to have a minimum of 10pcs to qualify for RSotD. CMFs get counted by sub-number, not by series, so Waldorf would only include 7pcs and be excluded from the pool.

https://brickset.com/article/113066/random-minifig-of-the-day-coltm09 And 71033-10 couldn't have been RSotD for two reasons. One, a set has to be at least ten years old before it's eligible for RSotD, and two, sets have to have more than ten parts. Barring the release of a second series, 71033-8 is the only Muppets CMF that will ever be eligible, since it has sixteen parts.

"You're looking for private screening B"
"A private screening?"
"Yeah! they were afraid to show it in public!"
D'OH HO HO HO HO

"You know I'm really liking this movie so far"
"It hasn't started yet"
"That's what I like about it!"
D'OH HO HO HO HO

"That wasn't so bad"
"Yeah it was all bad!"

By in Turkey,

Can't think of this guy alone. It has always been Waldorf and Statler.

"If this is the figure they chose at random I'd hate to see what they picked deliberately! Do-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho!"

By in Netherlands,

You know they say if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all!

I'm sorry, keep going, I don't know where that came from.

Ah, my spirit-animal.

By in United Kingdom,

As they did the Muppets collectable minifig series I was expecting sets to appear afterwards but never happened, even though there are always submissions on Lego Ideas for the theatre. A Royal box with Waldorf and Statler would make a great accompanying GWP.

I don't know if you're referring to another excerpt or are just misquoting, but in any case the following exchange from "The Muppet Christmas Carol" is one of my favourite ones:

Fozziwig: My speech! Here's my Christmas speech. Ahem. "Thank you all, and Merry Christmas."
Jacob Marley: That was the speech?
Robert Marley: It was dumb!
Jacob Marley: It was obvious!
Robert Marley: It was pointless!
Jacob Marley: It was... short!
[turns to Robert]
Jacob Marley, Robert Marley: I loved it!

This one is also fun:

Robert Marley: Look, it's Ebeneezer Scrooge!
Jacob Marley: Looking older and more wicked than ever.
Robert Marley: I knew he wouldn't disappoint us!

And here's my favourite, which I actually used at the end of a presentation about Hamlet at university:

Statler: Shakespeare would have hated that.
Waldorf: You should know — you dated his sister!
Both: HO HO HO HO HO!
Statler: Boy was she ugly.

And incidentally, I was cracking jokes so often with a friend of mine while sitting just in front of our linguistics professor, that the latter eventually nicknamed us Statler and Waldorf to acknowledge the hecklers that we were ;)

By in Netherlands,

Boooooooo!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Statler and Waldorf talking to Big Bird:
"How should we know how to get to Sesame Street? We can't find our way out of this theatre box!"

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

LEGO was penny pinching. They made you buy two packs to get one full character in this Muppets CMF!

I love seeing different adaptations of a Christmas Carol, so when I got Disney+, it was a given that sooner or later, I was going to watch the Muppet version. When it started out "The Marleys were dead," I was like, "What?" Then when I actually saw who they had as the Marleys, I was like, "Ah, of course. Should have known"

I saw it in original release with a huge group of friends. Favorite Christmas movie, and top four Muppet films. That’s why I referenced it in my first comment in this thread.

Yeah, I also love this film, although I would consider "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" as the best Christmas movie.

What's fun is that the writers named Jacob Marley's brother Robert so that they could make an allusion to Bob Marley ;)
