I have a few of the planet sets, but this one. Very nice! I like everything about it.

This Coruscant can actually pass as a decent model of Cybertron from the High Moon games.

Always reminded me of the Death Star having internal structural issues before blowing up.

A great and very underrated series!
I gradually bought a few of the common, cheap ones, before realising how much I loved the planets and small ships, and then ended up splurging on the last 3 sets I needed to complete the series: 2 of which had to come from overseas as they were never released in Australia!
And now they are stuck in my ex-wife’s home, until we can hopefully settle the divorce in the next few months!……

I with they would have continued this Planet Series. Everything about it was made with love. Exclusive printed planets and tiles, a lovely microbuild and minifigure and pretty cheap too, plus the best part was the use as Christmas tree ornaments.
Now they only do overpriced display slop or Smart Play for dumb people. :(

You never examined them? They cheated. Except for the Death Star (which was molded and had no crossover pattern), every planet had one pattern that was repeated on both halves of the planet. Then each pattern had color blocking that had to be rotationally symmetrical along the mating edge, every 90°. The result was you could just rotate one half of the planet a quarter turn at a time, and the pattern would always appear to line up. But the downside is that the pattern was largely meaningless, except in the Death Star and asteroid field. Coruscant did have a pattern that made sense, except it was scaled up way too huge. Those huge circles would make more sense being, at most, the size of a large Earthican city, not an entire continent.

I actually just got my hands on sealed copies of Wave 4, and built 75011 while watching Ep4 on Actual Star Wars Day (5-25), 75009 while watching Ep5 on 6-1, and 75010 while watching Ep6 on 6-8. So it took 13 years, and an uncomfortable amount of money for how little set you get, but I’m finally Planet Complete.

Yep! Ours come out every Christmas and go on the tree! Unfortunate that the one wave never made it over here, but I have the others. @PurpleDave congrats! Hope to be there myself some day...

I was lucky enough to get my hands on the entire collection (all 4 series) back in 2013. My parents were able to find Series 4 for a very good price on eBay, and they bought them for me for Christmas that year. I remember being really excited to get them.

Just like the chrome C-3PO, I’m kicking myself for not jumping on them before the prices got crazy. I got them below market rate, at least, and a _LOT_ cheaper than picking Goldenrod would run. I’ve given up on that one.

Nah. My list ends at two. I like the rest as part of the sets they came in, but the nonsensical design of the prints bug me every time I look at them. I’ve seen people do NPU as domes on buildings and such, but even then the patterns almost make them look like clone bricks instead of actual LEGO parts. But those two I got extra copies of, primarily for the planets. I also got a second B-wing, which means I really didn’t need to buy it again this time around, but I wanted an extra pilot minifig from that set.

I'm very much aware of the 90° rotational symmetry, that's why I appreciate the patterns lining up, but Naboo is the only one that doesn't work. Or at the very least my prints were not as well aligned because there are areas where the lines break. Even the official images, even if they're just renders don't line up for Naboo, but do for every other set.

Also, how many astromech domes have you gotten after 2007 that have a wonky line because they decided to just print top down, and it isn't perfectly centered? I'm sure they did a lot more with the hemispheres given their size, but misalignments still happen.

I've mentioned this before, but I still remember the astromech droid MOC that used the upper dome of 9676.

These were such fun little sets. Managed to pick up the elusive last wave on clearance at £4 each.

On a guess, because they didn’t sell very well. They cost quite a bit, for what little you actually got. Those planet shells were a large part of that, especially with the Death Star requiring two unique molds.
