Not the slightest interest... 72037 + 72050 was Mario all done for me!

Some of the best Box art ive ever seen lego! I'm grabbing 3 of these day one!

These look super cool. The price points are very reasonable too, especially for licensed sets.
Definitely adding a few of these to the kids' collection.

I really wanted to love these sets and they're decent, but I think the minifigures look kind of bad and the Mario Kart builds aren't different enough from the electronic figure sets.

I like molded heads but the proportions on these are completely off IMO (except Toad, he looks fantastic). The heads are bigger than their torsos and the shapes seem way too puffy. Even Bowser who looks better than the rest has that weird stick-straight stance when he's usually bent at the knees and hunched over a bit more (ironically like a standard LEGO bigfig).

The smaller playsets and Bowser's Castle are great builds. I wish LEGO would do something a little more innovative with Mario Kart though, instead of just giving us cars and traffic cones. I'd love to see the Technic pullback motors in those sets so you can actually race with them, and some kind of track build like the old K'NEX kits would be cool too.

The castle looks amazing! The interior looks better than I was expecting. I love the "trapdoor" feature that allows you to drop Bowser into the lava, referencing the castle levels of the original game (or the climax of the 2nd movie, lol).

Mario riding Yoshi looks cute too. Yoshi honestly looks better without that oversized shell piece.

Normally this would be true for me as well but most of my space is reserved for 'Space (Classic and IRL)'. I have a very small shelf dedicated to video games related stuff; so 72052 will do the trick for me. We'll see what comes in the subsequent waves.

I have played quite a few but not all the Mario games - is there really a place where he is in a bathing suit? (I guess, that might be possible for beach volleyball in a 'Mario Sport' type of game - but i don't recall anything like that in a SuperMario Game - Galaxy, Odyssey, etc)

Yes, Lego will be doing a Mortal Kombat theme, along with a Showgirls movie theme too.

Adults will not be buying these sets because the boxes aren't plain black.

And even if you want regular (non-fire flower) Luigi, it's pretty much a guarantee that a major character like Luigi will appear in his default outfit in another set sooner or later. Just gotta be patient (I know I personally will be passing on the two 4+ sets with the mindset that it's only a matter of time before Luigi, Bowser Jr., and Yoshi show up again in other sets).

Look closely at the torso – it has that very familiar cracked torso line near the arm/neck area!

I guess even graphic designers working for LEGO have to deal with brittle plastic (or at least render errors that feel way too realistic)

Overall these look solid. I'm not enough of a Mario fanboy to need any of them. If this had been a decade ago I likely would have bought the lot. But I'm jaded enough now not to worry about being a completionist.

Going back nearly 50 years, there has always been a weld line in the plastic under the arm. It’s a direct result of the way the torsos are molded. Plastic comes in through the neck post, which you can verify by finding the pip from the gate in the center of the molded LEGO logo at the top of the post. It flows down over the shoulders, and when it hits the arm holes it has to flow around them, like a river flowing around an island. It can’t flow through the hole, unless you want to drill out the hole after the torso is molded, so now the plastic flow is split front and back. When it gets past the arm holes, the two halves or the flow rejoin, and have to fuse together. When torsos crack underneath the arms, it’s not always for the same reason. Yes, if the plastic turns brittle, that’s probably going to be the first indication as those weld lines are stressed by the arm in the arm hole from above, and the leg posts in the torso cavity from below. It could also be that the settings on the molding machine weren’t properly adjusted, and the weld line itself just formed a weak bond. It could be that the material chosen just doesn’t have the strength to handle the stress, which is why we never saw transparent polycarbonate torsos. Or they could have used a color that has reduced strength (metallic flakes seem to be a particular problem here, and not just for LEGO minifig torsos).

It is still weird that they show the line at all in the render, and weirder still that it’s incomplete. That weld line goes all the way from the arm hole to the waist opening, though it gets less pronounced closer to the waist.

Legs are normal size, and that giant noggin means he’s technically taller than a Stormtrooper, possible even one that’s wearing a helmet.

Nope. And before you go into your tried-and-true Hedgelord-mode - Beach Mario -is- an outfit from Mario Odyssey. Mario's a short king, and you're just going to have to live with that.

I think the question you need to ask yourself is if you're suggesting a 2" tall minifig is as tall as a human being.

Yes, it does look kinda awkward for you.

I really like these and will most likely get all or most of them, but not a single mushroom in any of the sets seems like a big oversight. Could also use a Super Star.

Given that 72056 is a 4+ set, I guess those launchers will come pre-assembled, like wheels in some 4+ sets have Technic axle pegs already inserted.
