Hoth Bricks has uncovered a selection of Speed Champions and Minecraft set images in a German catalogue for the first half of 2017.

These will be released in March and are listed with prices in Euros so we can get some idea of what they will cost around the world based on the comparable prices of current sets. I have therefore made some educated guesses regarding pricing after the break...

By in United Kingdom,

That bugatti chiron looks really cool. Not that interested in minecraft.

Gravatar
By in Bulgaria,

Do my eyes deceive me or are those dark azure plates in some of the Minecraft bases? Those would be most welcome.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The speed champions are looking really good! Especially the FXX K development center.

Gravatar
By in United States,

There's an island with a giant red-and-white mushroom, but it's not part of a new Tintin theme? Sigh....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

A Chiron? I hope a koenigsegg appears next year!

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

new part!! blue one, just above the headlights on the Bugatti.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It looks like the Mercedes' headlights are printed, although that may just be the lighting

Gravatar
By in United States,

For the speed champions line, I'm only impressed by the Bugatti in this line up (big fan of Lotus and not seeing any of those...). I'm a HUGE minecraft fan, but none of these sets are calling to me. They all seem overpriced and not...what's the word I'm looking for, interesting, maybe? Luckily I go to school way out in the middle of nowhere where the one wal-mart within a 30 minute drive ALWAYS marks down sets. The Nether fortress was marked down to $40 USD, so I'm looking forward to the same. Otherwise, probably won't be buying any of them unfortunately.

By in United States,

Hey, the pickaxe in the Ice Spikes one is Enchanted.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Only 6 speed champions sets this year? My wallet can rest a bit easier now.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Are the 2 drivers in the Mercedes F1 set supposed to represent Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, or are they just random drivers?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That '66 GT40 is as beautiful as I imagined. Also, the Witch House is the first Minecraft set I've actually wanted (since the microworlds).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@jacob1998
It looks like the cars have the numbers 44 and 6, meaning that the drivers would represent Lewis and nico.
Also, the Ferrari appears to have number 7 (kimi raikkonen) on the model and a tile with number 5 (Sebastian vettel)

By in United Kingdom,

That's a very disappointing railway. The best I can say is that it matches the style found in #21118 The Mine.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Pretty nice all round.

Though that Witch Hut set is horrific.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Speed champions fan - there are seven in the database, but one has no picture - so I guess the Capn has only listed those with pictures available...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Have a number 44 on the Mercedes clearly for Hamilton... but don't make the figure the correct skin colour, really lego?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@applefanb0ii: But isn't the whole point of the yellow minifig skin colour to represent all races?

By in United States,

I'm not really a Minecraft fan, but I'm struck by how creative the newest Minecraft sets look! The big magma cube in the Nether Railway set has an interesting build that lets it expand and contract, and the railway itself has been greatly refined since the first appearance of similar minecarts in http://brickset.com/sets/21118-1/The-Mine, thanks to the new macaroni tile pieces. There seems to be at least one new piece used in this rail construction to create the brown "ties" between rail segments, and I won't lie, I'm excited to learn more about it. The Ice Spikes has a really stylish color scheme, and a pretty unique structure. The Jungle Temple is really distinctive and really conveys an adventurous tone, and the Secret Waterfall Escape set is a really lovely little house (I especially like the double doors!).

It's great to see that the Minecraft theme hasn't run out of mileage. With its emphasis on building and rearranging with basic bricks, it truly stands out among licensed themes.

By in Poland,

Guys, there are also ELVES pictures- and they are a lot more important than these licenced bubs :P

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@lordofdragons - The Elves set images were added to the database in November.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Nobody seems to be talking about how stupidly wrong is the Mercedes F1 set. Come on, Lego, us, F1 fans just want the cars, maybe a REALISTIC Pit-Stop and Pit Wall. That's it. No sandwich vending point! F1 is owned by Americans but it still hasn't become NASCAR.
Btw, a Speed Champions NASCAR car would be awesome. Have never watched an entire race, but they look really cool!

By in United States,

@lordofdragonss: Technically we've seen unwatermarked Elves pics before now (unlike with these themes), which is probably why most sites aren't mentioning them (despite the pics we have now being much better than the tiny, blurry pics we'd gotten earlier). I do agree about being more excited for Elves, but these are more likely to be things no one has seen before.

My brother just pointed out to me that you could probably pair the angled bow piece used in some of the Speed Champions sets with its counterpart at a 90 degree angle to create an inverted corner curved slope, something that's been pretty much impossible before now.

The tie piece used in the Minecraft railway seems to be a 2x2x2/3 part with two 45 degree cutouts and a stud and 1x1/2 section sticking off the top. It's probably designed explicitly with Minecraft in mind (considering this is the first decent solution they've had for minecart tracks, which are a pretty big part of the game), but I can see plenty of other potential uses as detailing. It's nice that that particular set doesn't include too much content besides the railway so that you can easily buy multiples to create a longer track.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hahaha a blue sheep in the Minecraft set. About time we got one of those. Will we get all 13 colors eventually?

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Mushroom? Mario comes to my mind.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm looking forward to the Ford set, those GT's look sweet!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Mercedes-amg looks a bit... Nose-heavy, right?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Those F1 sets are mine no matter the price!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Speed Champion sets look great! The Minecraft ones are a bit of a let down in my opinion

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Which to get first... Chiron... Ferrari f1... Decisions, decisions!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I for one believe you are wrong about the nether railway because if you look at the size of the box and compare it to this years the wither set and its prices it looks to be £29.99. I most looking forward to the ice spikes and the jungle temple to expand my minecraft world.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Ferrari Development centre is stunning - might be the first Speed Champions set I buy since the theme's launch.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'LL get them all - because I love cars and to keep up my 100% speed champions ownership record

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm pretty much done with Speed Champions, because I already got my favorite car, so who needs random cars you don't care about? :P

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Nice to see an F1 car in a cheaper car-only set. If only they'd also release some of the vintage cars in car-only sets too!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

What's with #75880 in the database (Mercedes Pit Stop). I've never seen any leaked pictures of it, and it hasn't appeared in any of the leaked catalogues. Does it actually exist, or was it just a guess because there was a missing sequential set number?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The cars look cool, but minecraft is definitely NOT my thing

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Excellent speed champion sets! I thought they cut ties with shell but 75879 still has the decals present

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@shadowwarrior016: It's a Ferrari branded set, not a Shell branded set. Shell is a sponsor of the Ferrari F1 team, which is why the logo is on the set. :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

That wind tunnel is pretty slick in the FXX set. Looking forward to all the speed champions.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am shooting myself if the Witch Hut is really $60.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wow, that Bugatti is terrible. Just awful. That might be the worst replica of the Speed Champions theme to date.

Without the branding, the Speed Champions theme would be a massive fail. Compare it with the Shell/Ferrari theme from a while back...much smaller, cheaper sets but far more aesthetically accurate. Speed Champions feels so lazily designed. They don't look professional at all. They look like models that a young teenager has MOC'd to vaguely resemble, at least in his head, his dream cars.
