Have ideas for Gifts with Purchase?

Posted by ,

The Gifts with Purchases (GWPs) that LEGO offers at shop.LEGO.com are very popular and often create a good reason to buy sets there rather than elsewhere.

LEGO is looking for ideas from the AFOL community for what sort of GWPs we'd like to see in the future.

Do you have any ideas for single sets, or perhaps a series of small builds?

Here are a few ideas to get you thinking: vignettes, small vehicles, bags of random or rare-coloured parts, prehistoric animals or other creatures, small Technic models, exclusive mini-doll characters, spaceships, flowers, mini Architecture models...

Let us know in the comments or, preferably, in this discussion in the forum because this article will drop off the home page in a few days. I'll collate the viable ideas at the end of October and send to LEGO.

By in Switzerland,

I need Saw Gerrera
If they don't give us a little set with him and some thugs, at least give us a may the fourth figure like R3-M2
Also there are many other characters I would like

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I dont shop often at Lego Stores/Shop @Home, so won't be able to even get them, but I like the miniature (poly bag) sets of bigger sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the rare colored parts idea. Five Sand-Green 1x8's or tan train windows with $25.00 purchase. Lego would make a lot of money off me and they would have to spend zero dollars on development.

By in Portugal,

I would certainly appreciate a greater concern with making sure everyone is able to get the promos they want. A few examples of polybags I couldn't get from Lego Shop @Home or any other retailer because they simply weren't made available in my country (Portugal), neither online nor on physical shops:
-30605-1: Finn (FN-2187)
-40176-1: Scarif Stormtrooper
-5004406-1: First Order General
-5002122-1: TC-4
-5002045-1: Pyjamas Emmet
-5002145-1: Rocket Raccoon
-30216-1: Lake-town Guard

By in United Kingdom,

Prefer exclusive minifig polybags rather than low piece count miniature builds...

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Sets are so much higher priced in Lego stores than elsewhere that the gifts need to be relatively big and very unique in order to offset the extra cost and give enough incentive. Personally I think the larger Christmas gifts are very appealing, for instance the wonderful ginger bread house. Smaller versions of larger sets, like the VW bug, I don’t like so much.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I would like to chose from different goodies. I collect mainly star wars and a bit Marvel/DC. So any city themed polybag or something like that is no real use to me..

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the Star Wars minifigures that are new minifigures we haven't seen before. It would be nice to see figures like taun we and boss nass that we haven't had before. Especially if Lego has no plan to put them in sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Having only been buying lego for the last 18 months or so, I have to say the fountain set (40221-1) was something I'd like to see more of.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Miniature versions of the Speed Champions series would get my vote.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

I would like some more obscure Star wars characters from the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy and the clone wars.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I am waiting with my purchases for a new give-away but there's nothing.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I can't buy from the LEGO store because I live in South Africa, so I can't really think of much for this question. I wish LEGO would open a South African store so I can buy off the LEGO Shop and get all the awesome deals.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Maybe polys that "go with" a current popular set like the aforementioned flower cart and fountain sets. I'd also like to see some more of those minifig-with-stand sets like the R3-M2 and Scarif Stormtrooper. Ooh, and Nien Nunb!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Being a Star Wars fan I think the small vignettes and micro builds that are packaged for special events would be very popular as GWPs. The recent Detention Block Escape (or whatever it's called!), the Escape The Space Slug sets plus the micro Tatooine and Dagobah and range of MicroFighters use very little in the way of special elements, mostly standard bricks and often no new minifigures but still vey desirable.

I hope the GWP schemes don't end up being physical store only in the future. A £90 mile round trip to get a Star Wars figure is a pain when it could be offered with online purchases as with past promotions.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I particularly like the polybags given away with purchases, I'm liking the battle pods that lego have made for ninjago, friends, Lego batman movie and nexo knights this year.

Also the latest give away of the mini jewellery box for lego friends is a good idea..

Lego elves and dc superhero girls needs more polybag sets throughout the year too.

1. A collectible series is badly needed next to the random promos, which would not randomly change every month. A quarterly/monthly series of mini vehicle builds, architecture minies, comic vignettes based on famous comic covers, small builds compatible with modular aesthetics (like the fountain or flower cart). With this should come a system where you can select which promo you want with the purchase, so everybody has a reason to purchase something frequently.

This idea is motivated by the fact that in many months I do not like the promo, so I order instead from cheaper third party stores. If I had something good every time at LEGO.com, I would use it much more. A collectible promo series - if LEGO commits to finish it at least a year in advance - is the sure way to generate returning customers.

2. Exclusive seasonal BrickHeadz. One of the promotions this Christmas is a built nutcracker. I just cannot see why it was not a Brickheadz with a series number, it could have easily been done. Collectors would sure make some purchases to get these. Santa, easter bunny, halloween monster, Star Wars, Super Heroes... everything can get a Brickheadz.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As it has been said, because of the cost of buying from the LEGO website directly they need to be or feel ‘special’ enough to justify the purchase.

Exclusive minifigures would be my preferred gift with purchase. Something rare and unusual that otherwise would not or could not be included in a usual set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I know they've done random ones in the past but I'd like to see a whole collection of figures from all past lego own themes.
The most iconic figure from each theme, that's a whole other debate I'm sure though.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Maybe some exlusive POTC minifigures for each movie. Maybe 2 figures in one bag.
Some ideas:
- DMTNT Mullroy and Murtogg
- DMTNT Shansa and Barbossa
- DMTNT Salazar (Flashback version) and random Spanish soldier (Flashback version)
- DMTNT Will Turner and (young) Henry Turner
- OST The Spaniard and random Spanish soldier (OST clothes)
- ATW Lord Cutler Beckett and Sao Feng
You could think of many more

By in United States,

I would like more exclusive Ninjago minifigs such as:
Bolobo
Chamille
Gravis
Jacob Pevsner
Young Morro
Young Wu
Young Garmadon
All the old elemental masters
Zane, Cole, and Jay in their golden suits
Dr. Saunders
Cyrus Borg
Ed (TV Series)
Edna (TV Series)
Lou
Dr. Julien
Pythor (Stranger)
Young Chen
General Arcturus
Police Commisioner
Khanjikan
Captain Soto
(Kevin and Dan Hageman?)

By in United Kingdom,

How about they simply stop the 'freebies' and discount the sets. In UK this year we saw £5 added to most under £100 sets and at least £10 on sets over that price point... LEGO has to counter the starting perceived notion that they are becoming too expensive...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I'm confused by this article/request. Is Lego looking to improve/increase sales on their website/Lego stores in general as a whole or are they only looking at only getting more AFOLs to make more purchases through the website/Lego stores.

I would suspect Lego is looking to improve/increase sales on their website/Lego stores. As evident by most comments (already) its all about "what I want" and not what's good for Lego in general.

If Lego starts release GWP which appeal to a narrow group of AFOLs their, not necessarily achieving their goal.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@shaase I think the way it's being asked implies that they're really interested in motivating AFOLs, specifically, to buy directly from them rather than from other retailers. Presumably they have other market research channels that they use to ask the more general population of parents buying for their kids. I think it's fine to go with what you personally would want, because if enough people want the same thing then they can decide for themselves if it's good for Lego/feasible to do it.

I must say it's nice to be asked; funnily enough I was just thinking about the Creator Fountain and wishing something similar would come along...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@blitzspear I think the rise of prices in the UK has more to do with the post-Brexit disaster the GBP experienced rather than any change in pricing policy. Actually, LEGO was quite generous as the prices have increased less than the fall in GBPEUR and GBPDKK.

Gravatar
By in United States,

For a GWP, I also agree an exclusive Star Wars minifig would be nice. That would be ideal for a rare or obscure character that will never make it into a set. I also agree rare-colored parts would be enticing. I'd make a purchase online if there were good [rare] pieces in a rare color.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

NOT small vehicle builds!!!
But I would like bigger animals: camel, donkey, elephant(!), those new big cats, (Lion, panther, tiger, leopard) and other that still does not exist in lego...
Also middle eastern figs ( shepherds, wise men etc) apt for traditional christmas scenes and other middle eastern scenes...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think there should be a small free random bag of pets, perhaps there should be different series of pets divided by species such as cats, dogs, hamsters, bunnies, birds, small reptiles and amphibians I think the customer should have choice what species they get but not which variant they get. I think it would be great for MOCers to get a bigger range of domestic animals. Also Lego would only need one or two molds per species. Thanks for considering!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Building on what has been said....I'm not sure how it would logistically work, but I think there should be choices for each theme. I collect city, creator, modular, Star Wars and when I get a Ninjango poly bag I end up giving it away or storing it.

But if I could choose something along the city, modular, creator, Star Wars line with my purchase, then it would be great. An example would be the Flower Cart polybag that I received for a modular building I bought. Goes together perfectly. At least maybe give 3 or 4 polybag options that relate to your purchase. Think of it as a mini add on.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Exclusive minifigs and limited boxed sets like the winter holiday one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd love a line of cute, Mixel-looking creatures as GWPs. They'd be the perfect size for polybags. They wouldn't replace Mixels in my heart, but serviceable enough - what, with all the eyes and mini ball joints we could get more of...

Gravatar
By in United States,

First Order Star Destroyer poly bag

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Still waiting for an Artoo and Leia vignette. It's 40 years this winter and both actors are no longer with us. C'mon LEGO, just don't make only 100 of them :-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Mini Modulars please.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not minifigures. Personally don't understand why people like them so much. I have way too many!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd like to see them do tiered 'freebies' that hang around longer and are scaled to the purchase size. For USD (b/c that's what I use) for example: $25 purchase tier, $50 purchase tier, $100 purchase tier, $250 purchase tier, $500+ purchase tier. If they made the freebies existing/current sets or groups of existing sets they'd always be in stock and people could choose the, say, polybag for the theme they're interested in as their freebie.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have made -so- many purchases just to get the exclusive. They're some of my favorite pieces to collect.

Brand characters - ala Lester from Leicester Square
Minifig people in event/promotional clothing - i.e. a minifigure kid with a Star Wars shirt
More mini sets that supplement large releases - ala 40108 Balloon Cart, 40140 Flower Cart
International minifigures that represent different nations, include accessories associated with their nation, etc
More classic sets - Classic Spaceman, Classic Pirate and Classic Knight are among my top favorites

Gravatar
By in United States,

Due to the dozens of themes offered, and those who only collect sets from 1-2 themes, it would seem beneficial to allow the purchaser a choice of several sets or polybags which represent several themes, which could be earned via a point system. Such as, spend 50.00 and get a point/credit for one GWP set, spend 100.00 and get two points/GWP sets, and so on. Seems like a fair compromise to allow everyone (w/their varied interests) to get something they truly want. My two cents, however I will be asking for a refund...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The list goes on and on for me. Captain Ithano, Saw Gerrera, Aunt Beru, Two Tubes (from Rogue One), Ben Quadronaros, and so many more!!! Any of these could go with the minifig stand polybags they're doing, and I think any of them would be great.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Exclusive freebies definitely hook me into buying direct from LEGO... if I'm interested in them. My personal favorites are little vignettes or minifig/accessory packs that can be added to enhance a layout. (Fountain, Flower Cart). I also loved the Snow Globe from last year, and the mini VW and mini Ninjago Green Dragon were cute. Really I'd like to see more City or fantasy (Elves, Castle, Ninjago)-themed vignettes that offer some special accessories, like critters, greenery, or other small builds.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would love to see rare minifigures or small models, most the of free promotional items tend to be disappointing. I find the latest Lloyd minifigure to be very plain and not exclusive. Exclusive minifigures like saw gerrera or other would be awesome!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I second the opinion that freebies should not be generic minifigures from the subject theme (like Lloyd); or polybags that can be either bought in stores or built from basic bricks. These are not attractive.

Huw: please also give feedback to LEGO about what we do not want. Generic freebies obtainable easily in other ways won't entice us buying anything, they are a waste of money for LEGO too.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Four words: speed champions formula ford. I'd buy anything to get one.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have to confess I like the minifigures as GWP, although as noted above, the Fountain and Balloon Cart were excellent.

What about a Collectible minifigure range spread across the year? One per month for twelve months? Themed seasonally or just randomly.

I also want to get my hands on some of those swirly, multi-coloured bricks that are presumably thrown away when they come out of the moulds. I don't know what they're officially called, but they'd make interesting keyrings or some such.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

My favourite are the small sets with rare minifigures, e.g. 40108 Balloon cart.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I collect minifigs, so always happy to see more exclusive minifig polys. It has "roped" me in to buying more on their website quite a few times already!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think microscale models would be the most fun tbh; personally I'm not too interested in minifigs though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I had another brain-buster of a thought: if none of the avail. GWP strikes the purchaser's fancy they could then opt-out of the GWP in exchange for bonus VIP points. I agree that more exclusive never before seen characters (especially from Star Wars please!) would be great as GWP.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think the rare parts idea is a great one.

However, here's how I think they should do it. At a $75 purchase you should get one bag a 5-6 pieces of the same part in a color previously unavailable. At $125 you should get two bags. And at $150 you get three.

Instead of being a promotion that only runs for a month or so, it should be an ongoing promotion that lasts for a quarter of the year or something. At the end of the quarter, they rotate the promotion to a new piece in a previously unavailable color.

It'd be a great way of adding new colors to the market.

EDIT: Or just make a bunch of parts in a new color., then have them as a promotion until they run out, then move on to the next part and color.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I would love mini architecture models. Or micro modulars, like the bricktober toys r us sets from a couple of years back. I love minifigures but the GWP ones are not exclusive. They've all been in the collectible series just with an extra cardboard box that is not enough of a bonus. Exclusive minifigures would be better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Of the small sets that they have given out with purchases in the past, my favorite are definitely the Christmas ones.

Other than that, the idea of bags of rare-coloured parts sounds great to me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Personally, I would love to get more gifts like the Darth Revan polybag which include characters we would not otherwise get in sets. I would especially appreciate more KOTOR/SWTOR characters like Darth Malak or Bastila Shan. The idea of miniature architecture sets also sounds intriguing, especially because the architecture range is one of my favorite current LEGO themes. I've also always liked the larger freebies they gave away around Christmas, like the Gingerbread House and Snowglobe.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Yeah, Saw Gerrera and any other SW-Char we didn' t get so far would be a nice candidate for such Polybags. I also like the idea of unsual parts or color-variants. Or those bags could be themed like: 20 plant pieces (mixed foliages, grasses, mushroom-disks etc.), or creatures of the sea, woodland critters. I think those Playmobil-Bags could be an other good example: There are figure and many matching utensils or animals in it for a low price. In short: themed bags with items other people sell for horrendous prices at bricklink.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@shirhac,

Having animals as a parts promotion sounds like a great idea. It'd be a fantastic way of using some of the rarer animals, such as the cow or bear. . . Maybe even the elephant.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I'd love to have more historical based minifigures from cultures around the world. It would be also great to have more minifigure scaled animals and vegetation!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Usually when I buy for a monthly promotion I prefer polybags with minifigures and small sets like the Flower Cart or the girl with bicycle/fountain. The Christmas vignettes are also something I enjoy collecting. If it is a Lego Creator set I usually pass. In the past it has been frustrating when Star Wars polybags aren't available to North America. if TLG could rectify that situation that would be grand.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I haven't read many of these, so I don't know if this was said, but: I like options. Maybe having a couple of different options to choose from instead of just 1 free set. For example, I do not collect Ninjago, so I am less likely to buy when that is there only promo. However, If I can choose between a Star Wars or City set vs a Ninjago or something, I will do so. I think a lot of us would love to have the choice on which promo to get. Some of us might even want to make multiple orders to get each one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ndisgize I like the idea. I think that would be great to have options on the free item. Right now unless it is a Unique Star Wars figure, such as admiral yularen, the giveaways don't give me any incentive to buy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think the Lego Branded "Gear" is cool but what I would want to see is maybe parts packs for different themes? For example if a new train just got released they could say if you buy this new train you get a set of carriage wheels free or maybe a train motor free. I do like the miniatures of the Creator expert sets. Also I think rare parts or colors in bricks would be interesting.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

like a lot of other people have already said: small sets that "belongs" to larger sets like 40140 Flower Cart, but maybe not just for creator. I would love some expansions for star wars sets!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I collect a lot of Technic but there is never a relevant free gift. Given that a lot of AFOLs collect technic and it is frequently highly discounted at other retailers I don't think I've ever bought technic directly.

Imagine buying the Porsche and they give you a complimentary set to go with it? That might motivate you to pay full RRP. Say a display plaque?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

One thing that would be great would be an end to the regional variations for GWP's. There's no real logic in releasing different promos in different regions other than creating demand in the secondary market for those who could take advantage of the relevant promotion in their region. An example of this was the Darth Revan promo polybag which has been given away twice in NA but never in the UK or Europe to my knowledge (luckily I had another Brickset member who helped me out to finally get one myself). Another recent example is the 5004932-1: Travel Building Suitcase which has been given away in NA but not Europe (other than as an offer with O2 rewards if you had a contract with them). Regional variations in offers helps drive secondary market demand which Lego could easily take advantage of themselves.

At present the holiday GWP are some of the best available including the 40223-1: Snowglobe from last year. Such GWP encourage me to buy from Lego themselves rather than elsewhere even if it may be cheaper. If the GWP is of high enough quality and appeal then the encouragement is there to buy from Lego rather than other retailers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Give everyone a chance to get the SDCC exclusives super hero mini figures. Lego gives them out free at the cons and then the people throw them up on EBay at a rediculious price. I shouldn’t have to buy a knockoff just to get the figure for my collection and I’m sure Lego doesn’t want people who buy their product have to rely and support knockoffs.

I only buy on Lego.com when they have exclusive mini-figures mainly Star Wars, Marvel, and DC Super Heroes. Would love if Lego did a rerelease Chrome Darth Vader and Gold 3-CP0.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

There are a near-endless number of polybag characters they could include from Star Wars, DC and Marvel. These are a few I'd love to see.

Force Ghost Obi Wan (Was dissapointed that this figure wasn't our May the 4th polybag this year)
Nien Nunb
Huntress
Mystique
Logan
Exclusive Darth Vader/C3PO/R2
Unique protocol/atstromech droids like we've seen in the past
More SWTOR characters
Unique Rebel/Resistance pilots
A GRAY GHOST MINIFIGURE, PLEASE!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The first suggestion I have would be to stop using any polybags that are going to turn up later at another retailer as GWPs. Those just have no incentive when I could go into Target or Walmart at a later day and buy the gift by itself as well as get the set potentially on sale.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Although the question is about GWPs, I'd fundamentally extend my suggestions to the VIP scheme as well as the provided sets (the scheme isn't always connected to them though).

It's become pretty clear through occasions such as the Millenium Falcon launch that being a 'Very Important Person' with Lego is essentially just being a 'Person' because anyone can become a VIP up to the second they make their transaction. I'd suggest that VIP points and GWPs are much more closely tied together.

For example - let's say there are 3 exclusive mini GWP sets of different themes available at once. However! You can only obtain these sets if you've accrued enough VIP points to exchange for them - but you can choose the one(s) you want. This takes the GWP further away from its original purpose but gives more flexibility.

In terms of the actual GWP sets themselves, I think a lot of fans would just like to see more substantial small boxed sets rather than only polybags. I would very much like to see Lego's idea of a roughly £15 size Star Wars GWP with one exclusive minifig and some interesting scenery or a small vehicle. The polybag exclusives are nice but I'm just not enthused by a lot of them. I guess a really simple suggestion would be more interesting Star Wars polybags! Stormtrooper sergeant? No thanks.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Polybag with four City stop lights
or street lights
or City steet signs like the 80s with Stop Signs, zebra crossing signs, Do Not Enter, Speed Limuts

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Fountain and Gingerbread House were the most outstanding GWPs for me the past few years although I also like the Darth Revan and Shadow ARF Trooper polybags. I guess what I go for are the uniqueness or fun of the GWP. For example, 30609 Lloyd is too similar to the others available to incite me to spend enough to earn him as a GWP. So put me in the camp looking for new, never-seen-before minifigures or fun small builds.

Also, how about a lower threshold for in-store purchases – say, $30 in-store or $40 online gets you a GWP. That might drive more traffic to the brick & mortars, which usually translates to higher spending per transaction.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That last part was a suggestion to TLG on how they might get their sales numbers back up.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I got an idea: exclusive themes and licenses that CANNOT be bought with cash. Make some of the giveaways common, but others ultra rare... all promo. For a hypothetical example, if LEGO was able to acquire the license to produce Nintendo Super Mario sets, then some sets would be free polybags with any purchase, other sets would be small box sets, free with minimum purchase, some would be large (think 500 or 1000 piece sets) with large minimum purchase (like $300), and yet other sets would be like the Bat Pod, only 5000 made and given to lucky winners. An entire licensed theme only available as giveaway, over the course of 2-3 months. How cool would that be!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Licensed minifigures that don't really fit in with any set but are still essential characters - for example, as someone said, Saw Gerrera - or Bail Organa! And also, please make them all available in Australia. It gets a bit frustrating when it's Europe and US only... :)

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

As a few other posters allready said: offer the same promotions at the same time across the globe for starters. It's really annoying having to buy interesting polybags from bricklink/eBay/... because they weren't offered in my LEGO.com region.

I don't mind seeing more of those recoloured CMF minifigs like the caveman/woman we got a few months back. Perhaps expand on this idea by making themed packs selected from the CMF line. For example: Roman, Greek, Aquatic, Space,...

Another kind of polybag, or rather box I like are the fountain, balloon cart, proper winter village add-ons,...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I thought 30611 R2-D2 was the coolest GWP to date. Obviously, exclusive minifig polybags are always desirable, but 30611 was a really cool take on that. Not a fan of tweaked stormtroopers et al; rather, I like exclusive figs like Darth Revan. I don't really collect creator but the Creator Fountain was an awesome little build and GWP.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

How about the mixed colour bricks that are produced from when they flush out a mold to produce the next colour, I saw some in a lego documentary and the production manager said they are thrown out and not even recycled and IMHO they look super cool.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Maybe a mix of printed bricks and tiles from sets we don´t usually by. From juniors, friends etc.
Shop signs, food prints etc.

Gravatar
By in United States,

What I like:

-Licensed Minifigures; Star Wars being the most popular choice. Characters who are absent from the main sets (Bail Organa, Saw Gurrera, Aunt Beru, named Imperial Officers, etc.) being the type that would draw me in. I also think licensed minifigures from Superhero lines would be a good pick too, as there are so many unique hero's it would be impossible for Lego to include them all in sets; yet getting them as bonus purchases would be a great promotion.

-Small vignette builds. I like the small corner room builds like we have been getting as some Christmas tie-ins. I would like to see it expanded to include other holidays or non-holiday scenes of real life. Like something that could be dropped into a City display. Like imagine getting some silly Lego renditions of real life such as a goofy white collar office build or a meta-Lego collectors room.

-And one last thing, I would like to see some "classic throw backs" done as shopping bonuses too. Imagine getting a figure such as the Galidor guy in Ninjago City or Johnny Thunder as a bonus. Good chance to throw in some updated Lego Space figures, Pirates, Castle, Western, or Adventurers. Maybe even toss in a Bionicle tribute (Mask of Ultimate Power or G2 Vahi anyone?) or a small Technic build. It would touch on nostalgia in a good way, and keep the old stuff "present" in modern Lego even if their themes are retired.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I would either like no freebies but a faster delivery service or a choice of 2 freebies - I've ordered from Amazon instead to get a faster delivery before, especially if I haven't been interested in the freebie. It would be nice to have a checkbox to choose say a city polybags, Ninjago polybags, star wars polybags etc. Not just a theme related to what you're ordering

Gravatar
By in United States,

Too often the licensed and "collectable" minifigure GWPs are done in such a limited run that very few people can get them and they get snapped up by resellers who then try to flip them for huge markups. I don't blame the resellers, but it doesn't actually make business sense for TLG if the demand FAR exceeds the supply. You just end up with unhappy potential customers and missed additional business.

So I'd like to see GWP go more the route of last year's Fountain 40221-1, which was a small and unique build with interesting parts and scenery.

Gravatar
By in United States,

25 Sand red brick textured bricks with $25 purchase.

Or lowering the cost of the normal sets and just get rid of promos.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really liked the creator-related, minifigure-sized flower cart and fountain sets they did a little while back. Also, I wish they would go back to the little Christmas promotionals that fit with the winter village sets instead of the more random sets we've seen recently. Though ultimately what I'd love even more than free sets would be more frequent x2 or even x3 VIP points.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd suggest having sets that link in with big sets (think Flower Cart linking in with Detective Office), or with new themes or with updated themes. I started collecting Lego in earnest when I got an unexpected 40079 Mini VW T1 Camper Van with 10237 Tower of Orthanc - that got me to buy 10220 - the big version of the Camper Van. And I started collecting Elves because of the original promotional polybag 30259 sent with an unrelated item. (It didn't work with Nexo Knights, though...)
The common theme here is NOT forcing someone to buy a linked item (e.g. Eleves polybag only if you buy full priced Elves set), but rather offering sampling of other themes/sets that may attract further interest in those themes, so generating more sales.
Thinking more about this idea, it only works, I feel, with actual sets, not just a minifigure bag.

By in Denmark,

I would like to see more gifts matching the sets you buy e.g. a rare Star Wars mini figure when you have more than $xx of Star Wars sets in you basket and a Dublo related gift when you buy Dublo and so on. I'm sure LEGO IT can figure out how to set that up in SAP to make it smooth on webshop and logistics.

Sometimes the gift is so fhar from your interest that it just stays in the poly bag. For instance there are very few technic gifts that I can remember, but a lot of Star Wars and seasonal polybags.

@Brick Dangerous

Yes I've added 40170 to my town but it's only one street light per set. How about pack of ten?

By the way if anyone wants to see my "traditional" layout, at least the 2015 version check out my Flickr page at www.flickr.com/photos/nordictour2009 and go to my Lego album

By in United States,

It'd be neat if they do some Star Wars: The Last Jedi minifigs, like the Praetorian Guards or some of the new FO stormtroopers, just something unique from TLJ.

By in United States,

I absolutely want more of the Collectible Minifigures in the star wars line (r3-m2 and scariff Stormtrooper style), maybe of Saw, a special first order trooper, unique rebel, etc.

By in United States,

I'm still waiting on a mini Ferrari F40 to go with my mini Sopwith, mini Camper Van, mini Mini, mini London Bus, and mini Beetle. (Target sold mini Tumbler and mini Batmobile polys.)

As for those requesting rare pieces, the thing to keep in mind is that mostly AFOLs and TFOLs will be submitting suggestions, while many of the polybags and other promotional items are targeted towards children. For example last year's multiple Nexo Knights polys or the recent Ninjago items. A bag of just sand red or sand green parts (of which the mini green ninja mech dragon included several) is not going to entice any children to beg their parents to make a purchase.

Perhaps to placate both sides, they could offer an option of choosing either a poly or a piece/parts pack.

I also enjoy the ornaments offered as GWP the past three Decembers which have a printed tile for the year (2014, 2015, 2016).

I would also like a Nien Nunb.

By in United States,

A chrome Captain Phasma or death trooper would be awesome, but as far as mini builds, I think mini architecture sets with each build at about the scale of a skyline would sell well.

By in United States,

We have seasonal vignettes which are somewhat US-centric (Im American)
How about some small international scene builds with themes like Bastille Day or Dia del Muerte? Changing of the Royal Guard at Buckingham Place?
I know its a stretch but just throwing it out there. All in all some great ideas sent in from the community.

I have no interest in Star Wars...I know lots of you love it...but, please, don´t use them as promos for other product lines!

By in Portugal,

For me, special minifigures polybags are great, some examples, the darth revan and those batman movie characters, would love the scariff trooper but it was not available in my country, that’s something that LEGO Shop got to stop doing, whenever a promotion is going on, it should be worlwide. But small vignetes and small city elements are awesome too, like the fountain, and the snowglobe.
Long live the polybags with special minifigures !

By in Portugal,

I would like to second some opinions already made above. The only concern for me is that LEGO should make sure that some of the offers that are available in some countries are also for my country (Portugal). First, because I would really like to be able to get them but secondly, and most important, because LEGO would start to take measures to avoid side/secondary markets.

With that said, please make available:

-30605-1: Finn (FN-2187)
-40176-1: Scarif Stormtrooper
-5004406-1: First Order General
-5002122-1: TC-4
-5002045-1: Pyjamas Emmet
-5002145-1: Rocket Raccoon
-30216-1: Lake-town Guard

Like a few others have stated. I would also like to see Lego do promos for figures in the Star Wars range that Lego wouldn't otherwise produce for a regular set. Ideas for figures include C-3PO with wires(episode I version), Boss Nass, Taun We, Lama Su, Zam Wessell, Tion Medon, Wat Tambor, Bail Organa, Mas Amedda, Saw Guerrera, etc.

By in Norway,

I like the minifig sets that complement bigger sets, e.g. winter scenes, the flower cart and the fountain.

What I would like to see more of is animal moulds included in the sets, e.g. a reindeer for x-mas and a turkey for thanksgiving :)

No matter how well build an brick animal is, in minifigscale animal moulds will always look better..
