LeBrick Wear & Play T-shirt on KickStarter

Posted by ,

A new LEGO-related project has just launched on Kickstarter: LEGO Wear & Play T-shirt by LeBrick.

It's brought to you by the team behind the Artifex Creation YouTube channel, and essentially it's a T-Shirt with a transparent pocket on the chest into which an 8x8 plate, minifigure, or other LEGO parts can be inserted, thus allowing you to wear your creations and have them on display wherever you go.

Various rewards are available, starting at $25 for a T-Shirt, right up to $129, which will provide you with two shirts and a whole host of things to put in the pockets, including monochrome minifigures.

If this sounds like something you'd wear, pledge your support, or see the full range of rewards after the break.

Pledge your support on Kickstarter today. The project needs to reach its funding goal by 10th November.

Sounds awesome! But I'd make my own decorations, thank you very much.

I really enjoy Artifex Creation's set reviews on YouTube and wish them all the best, but I can't help but feel that this Kickstarter product is a solution in search of a problem.

Apart from at LEGO conventions/events, would you really want to be displaying your MOCs in your pocket for everyone to see? I consider myself pretty geeky, but that's pushing it.

Momma always used to say if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. So I'll just pass this article silently by.

It would look better if the plate was attached to the shirt, so that it wasn't inside a plastic wallet.

Lego used to make sweatshirts like that, where a minifigure had a connector on his back thta you could attach and detach from a shirt. I think blacktron or futuron.

^a couple of magnets stuck onto a plate, with a metal bar to go inside a t shirt like a conference name badge would do the job and not run the risk of getting damaged in the wash.

Why?

I mean... That's pretty neat, but it's just a plain T shirt with a pouch... I don't think I'd pay $25 just for that...

Hmm, I guess it's kind of an alternative to brick badges for conventions, but those allow for scalability and can also be used on multiple shirts, whereas this one only offers more protection for a smaller section. I'm sure there's a niche audience for this, but I think I'll pass.

I’m not sure I would even buy a shirt with any of those designs printed on it, let alone in a clear pocket. They could at least have made it big enough for people to show off their UCS falcons when they went around.

Some (hopefully constructive) observations:
- What will the plastic would look like after a ton of washes or bricks rubbing from the inside;
- Plastic reflects way too much making it difficult to appreciate what's inside in a bright environment;
- A superior solution (imo) already exists: magnet backed plates;
- T-shirt price is fair (imo)

I'm a sucker for drooling over Lego-based KS campaigns (I've supported three so far), but this one was a hard pass at first sight.

Put a second pocket on the right side and market it as an anti-nippletwist device

Neat but no interest.

I kind of like the essence of the idea to be able to display a Lego creation in a shirt pocket, as plenty of other T-Shirt gimmicks have passed by. However, perhaps it's just a personal choice but I don't think I'd find it particularly comfortable walking around - the weight of the Lego bouncing around on your upper torso. Also not sure what I would actually want to show in the pocket but some of the suggestions designs have a nice aesthetic at least.

Always love ArtiFex reviews and moc's. Great stuff. But this doesn't look good.
The plastic and velcro/seams around it, I assume, will be ratty after a couple washes.
BUT, this could be fun for Lego Kids club members. To build their pockets to the themes of the month or faces, creations, etc.
