We recently reported that 5005376 Star Wars Anniversary Pod was going to be a gift with purchase over the Christmas period.

Unfortunately an issue has arisen which has resulted in the promotion being cancelled. Here's the official statement:

"We have to inform that as part of our internal quality screening process, we have found that the Star Wars Metalized Pod 5005376 does not meet our strict standards.

"As you know, we take the quality and safety of our products extremely seriously, and so out of an abundance of caution we have decided not to launch the Star Wars Pod.

"We are committed to continuing support for our Star Wars promotion, and will offer consumers 10% off across all LEGO Star Wars products from 18th – 24th December 2017, excluding 75192 Millennium Falcon."

Update: the 10% discount will not apply in North America and Canada, where another promotion will take this one's place. We'll provide more information when we have it.

What a shame!

Well that’s a blow :( nd 10% off but not including the falcon lol cheeky Lego.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Interesting... Given all the parts in the pod are standard Lego it must be an issue with the pod itself. I wonder if the other pods due to come out in future will also be affected.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Who knew? ;)

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

And that's why you can count on Lego.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

There would be "high" discounts between 18-24 they said. And now this changed to -10% and no vader pod? Pathetic

“10% off across all LEGO Star Wars products from 18th – 24th December 2017, excluding 75192 Millennium Falcon."

Now does that mean the 75192 MF will be in stock from these dates??

Gravatar
By in United States,

Interesting, I wonder if this will be available for May the Fourth be with you or if an issue arosse for the pod. The only Lego set I am interested is the Sandspeeder but I can wait for next year.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I guess I'll have to get Darth vader Transformation then...

Gravatar
By in Poland,

And Misako face meet your strict standards?!

:p

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Alas, some money saved. As 10% is laughable. We get 20 to 30% on Lego Star Wars almost everywhere else this time of the year.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Stop using Chinese factories! I never had any issues with paint applications on mini-figures until that started some years back. I think the newest factory that they opened will only sell those produced in that factory in SE asian countries.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Fireheart Wishful thinking! Prove me wrong, but I have given up hope on getting the MF this side of Christmas. I am getting less and less interested in actually getting it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well that's disappointing. Gosh, what a tease. I guess 10% is better than nothing; it works out to be the same as double points anyway. While it doesn't apply to the Falcon, it might be an incentive to pick up any of the other UCS still available. Personally, I'd rather have the pod. Hoping it makes it way around eventually.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I'm curious whether this has something to do with the 'metalized' aspect they mention and if this has any potential meanings for future chrome elements...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm more into marvel n Dc lego but I, d still love to have this one day, I, ll give it a few months and check on ebay, along with the buildable R2-D2..

Gravatar
By in United States,

Strange. I’m assuming it was an issue with the pod?

Gravatar
By in United States,

There's no way they're going to put out a wide release on the falcon. My store has barely put a dent in the waiting list. Pathetic.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Shame I was saving my money for tis promo, but I'd rather not have something that could be a danger. I hope they will release this though around Force Friday or May Fourth

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Lordmoral The Sandspeeder is [was?] on sale on Target's website this week for $23.99 with free shipping.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

A most unfortunate turn of events.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That gives the impression the pod is metallic?

Gravatar
By in United States,

All I wanted for Christmas was a Vader Pod....another year ruined!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That's my Birthday treat ruined then

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

English translation... the Chinese Factory put a bunch of dodgey materials in them.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Update: the 10% discount will not apply in North America and Canada, where another promotion will take this one's place. We'll provide more information when we have it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The lightsaber is pretty dangerous. Ask Obi-Wan.

Gravatar
By in United States,

No I was going to get it in January with the new sets

Gravatar
By in United States,

It was discovered that they were made with North Korean spent uranium.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I can see why they decided not to make it, Metalized pieces tend to have the "metal" worn off after a bit. Which is too bad, it's one of my favorite material types LEGO has made, the pieces look beautiful. It would be particularly bad for battle pods with repeated handling/rubbing/scuffing.

Some examples I've personally seen are lightsaber handles, firefighter helmets, visors (Think Mars Mission Astronauts.), and the treasure chest from 7622-1.

Does this indicate that the UCS MF will be available again by then? I really hope I can get this before christmas so I can spent the holidays building the set.

I'm checking the LEGO website and Brickset multiple times a day if not by the hour. I can't wait any longer!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@boneheadhh1, I had to laugh when I saw your comment. :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is the pod still going to be available after christmas?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Darn.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Maybe we get it during the May the Fourth event

Gravatar
By in United States,

The factories in China probably added too much lead to the plastic. It's happened all the time in the USA there was the time the first Friends Advent Calendar was cancelled. It happens.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's too bad, but it's great that Lego keeps safety in mind first.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Black Friday the Death Star was 20% off... but not in Canada. Now the Death Star is 10% off... but not in Canada :( Boo-urns.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So the Falcon will be available again by the end of the year?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Correction on my earlier post: my store has gone through the waiting list completely. It'll be open for non vips the next time they get shipments

Gravatar
By in United States,

Probably the metalized plastic didn't look good enough for LEGO standards. If it's a safety aspect I'd say maybe a residue or something was coming off? Either way it's not just LEGO doing it for their customers safety but also the safety of their coffers. Lawsuits will definitely put a strain on them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's some money saved then! And no 10% off in the U.S. or Canada. Which promo item are they going to recycle as an alternate for this? It would have to be a really good one at this point for me to bite.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My wallet is glad...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder what the new promo will be?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Funny: I was going to make a $60 Lego SW purchase ONLY because I wanted the pod. You just saved me $60 LEGO.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Was this pod a big deal? I really can't see the value in it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ People seriously can't spend the small amount of $25 on the Vader Transformation set so theyre upset they cant get this one I guess?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@CM4Sci

not everybody wants to buy a set for the figures. personally i can see why someone wouldnt want the vader transformation set. it's not particularly interesting to look at or anything (yes i have it before you ask).

Gravatar
By in Australia,

So I take it Australia just gets nothing? Not that 10% off is worthwhile anyway

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ diana What about Bricklink, EBay, Amazon, etc? If all you really want is a figure, you've still got plenty of options. idk

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

its ashame that the discount is not up to when the new sets come out after christmas

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Psychic Tempest Zero is right, those sources are how I plan on getting a lot of old Marvel/DC Figures, because I really just do not see myself using some sets in display. Like that one set with Tony Stark in his normal outfit.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm sure all of you already have a Vader Minifigure, if not pick up one of the transformation sets for £20.00 instead. Not a big deal.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So on the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars Lego are offering nothing. Missed opportunity. Still think a Leia and Artoo vignette like the Detention Block set released at the comic con would have been awesome

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I think it's because the silver plastic wasn't durable enough

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is the best news I've heard in a while.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like the pod series. I already have the Bat pod and Ninjago pod and was looking forward to the Vader pod.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I was holding off buying Kylo Ren's tie fighter in order to get this pod.
How timely that Kylo's Tie is 25% off today on Amazon, the same day I find out the pod is cancelled haha.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Damn. I already have the first four pods. This would have been the crowning glory.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was holding off on getting the two bigger Last Jedi sets so I could get two of this pod. Oh well...

Guess I'll be keeping an eye out for discounts on either of those sets...

Gravatar
By in United Arab Emirates,

imagine if they made a bunch of them before they cancelled them and they will be like super rare!!!

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Safety standard? I am guessing that the promo was canceled due to conflicting contract with Hasbro that does not allow for single figure sets? Always wondered how they were able to get around this to give away and sell polybags?
