21313 Ship in a Bottle to be released soon

Posted by ,

Rumours concerning the imminent release of 21313 Ship in a Bottle, the next LEGO Ideas set, have been circulating for a couple of weeks. This seems to have been confirmed as Promobricks reports that the German LEGO store calendar for January and February contains a teaser for the set, suggesting that it will become available within the next couple of months.

The teaser image simply shows a dotted outline of the model, yielding no information regarding its piece count or price. Nevertheless, I think it is safe to assume that the set will be officially announced very soon given its apparent imminent release. We will relay more information about 21313 Ship in a Bottle as soon as it is revealed.

By in Germany,

I've read something for January 17th for the release date. But this might be just rumors

By in United States,

I've seen it. It's gorgeous, but I'm worried about the price. Still, it's a third, maybe a forth, of the submitted fan model on the Ideas website.

I thought the next ideas set was the Tron motorcycle.

Hmmm... I've got mixed feelings after seeing a pic of it.
The original submission was a definite purchase. The final version...well...not so sure.

By in Canada,

I'd agree from leaks I've seen I'm not nearly as excited as I was about this will wait and see. I thought the original design was nicer than what I've seen as the final product.

Can't wait! The leaked images look epic. Let's just hope it costs $80-$100.

I’ve already seen the set on Instagram and it certainly does look quite nice.

It's much smaller than the dotted outline but still different and nice for LEGO.

So which is it? Half of the commenters are saying how epic it is and half are saying how unimpressive it is....I guess I'll have to wait until I see pictures and judge for myself.

The idea sounded neat, but at $100, it is likely another set I'm going to have to pass on. IDEAS is really hitting that high level of dollars lately.

EDIT: Just searched the internets for it and the ship looks worse, but the bottle looks a lot better. The scale is definitely different from submission. I think it is safe to say pass at this moment. Too bad.

By in Poland,

I'm on the side of disappointed ones after looking at the leaked picture. But maybe a closer look will change it?

By in United States,

When is the Voltron set coming out?!?!?!

By in United States,

Does anyone know how much it costs?

Modified bottle (with cap) and base are much better. The ship is worse.

By in Netherlands,

You can find the image on Youtube, it's really a nice set....

By in United States,

They better not calculate all those 1x1 round water pieces toward the price ;)

I love that this set exists, it's unlike anything Lego's ever made before--I'm on the fence over getting one, but everytime I see it, I want it more.

Well, if the bottle is built first, as it's supposed to...

I have to agree, the ship itself is worse but I think it was a clever choice to make it smaller. The bottle looks more round now and doesn't use to many pieces anymore. That makes it look way better and reduces the price. We have been getting so many large and expensive sets recently so I think a lot of fans will be happy about a new Ideas set with a really unique look and a (hopefully) reasonable price.

I like the base and all but it doesn't really compensate for a meh ship build. If they had provided a simpler base and used those parts to create a better ship I would be happier.

I've seen a leaked image, I have no idea on piece count or price but it is a very cool model.

By in United Kingdom,

Just seen the images on the net , yeah the bottle looks better but only because it's a third smaller than the original so there's less joins in it but the ship inside is meh. The point of a ship in a bottle is to marvel at a well detailed mini model which would look good on it's own, even if it wasn't in the bottle. The original creator managed this, Lego's version is not so good.
I wouldn't buy it, it might be cheaper because of the piece count but on a model like this thats not where you want to skimp. For me I would have paid that little bit extra to have a better ship with a smaller stand.

Leaked image suggests a nicer bottle and stand but a fat, badly proportioned ship inside. I’m sure there will be better ship MOCs made in due course.

Seeing the leaked images, the set looks pretty decent. When I voted for the project I was hoping they would shrink it down like they did, but from what I can tell, they compromised the quality a bit on the build. I guess I will wait and see the official images that are clearer to assist me on my decision.

@florespete The Voltron set will be the 2nd Ideas set this year, so I'd expect it to release either May, June, or August 1st. The Tron set will come out in either November or December.

Took me ages to find leaked images! My googling skills are ailing...

The rounded bottle, though smaller, does look more like a bottle, and, though the ship is smaller, it does nicely convey the concept as well as being just as effective a display & conversation piece.

Sadly though, this year's Ideas sets just don't seem as exciting & inspirational (or even aspirational) as 2017's beauties. #subjective

Personally I am waiting for news of the Voltron set, that is far more interesting to me than what I see with this ship in a bottle.

By in United Kingdom,

Just looked at the leaked box image on the eBay sale listed in the Brickset entry for this set. What a disappointment. A squashed ship. Not much of a Leviathan, is it? Moreover, the new stand doesn’t seem to allow the bottle to be turned 45 degrees so that a MOCed taller ship could fit in. Double whammy. Do Ideas rules allow the designer to publish the instructions of the original submitted model?

Don't try Google, search Instagram for LEGOleaks. Some of the Solo sets are up.
