LEGO teases a 'Secret Service' model

Posted by ,

LEGO has published a rather vague teaser for an upcoming set on Twitter, reading as follows:

"We’ve been thinking about creating a special Secret (Service) model that could help an agent out in a tricky situation. Any ideas? @astonmartin #LicenseToBuild"

That tweet has in turn received responses from the official Twitter accounts belonging to Aston Martin and James Bond. What could this mean? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Aston Martin DB5?

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Next Technic model car will be an Aston Martin DB5

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm calling it: speed champions v8 vantage (hopefully GTE). At least, that's what I want.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Personally I'd love a lego DB5 and bond minfig to go with it, so hopefully its something along those lines.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

this could be a teaser for them making a car for james bonds 25 next year??

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I don't know if a 1 year theme of James Bond would be well received; how well were Agents/Ultra Agents sales?

Interesting to see what they come up with. If its just another Technic model car then its a pass for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Both Agents and Ultra Agents sold well enough to get more models than I think were planned.

I get it's a Bond car. Hopefully one made from bricks and not Technical system.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Maybe the new Creator Expert car?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is this the next big creator expert car? We are due one in August... we’ve had one every August for the last few years.... the double decker bus, vw beetle, Ferrari f40, mini, camper van....

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I guess it'll be a James Bond LEGO theme. :-)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

To be clear, that image on the article was NOT from LEGO, correct?

Gravatar
By in United States,

A new Ultimate ULTIMATE SECRET $1000 Millennium Falcon?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Carolinaonmymind - it was tweeted in response to Lego's original post by the 007 account.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Considering how the Technic cars have been pretty bad I'm hoping it's a creator set for a DB5.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

A creator Aston. There are 2 VIP early access dates in July. One is the Docks and this is the other.

Gravatar
By in France,

What about a James Bond's Aston Martin with hidden rockets, tricks and other features? Licensed I guess...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As it says authorised eyes only. I'm going with the yellow 2CV from "For your eyes only" fits in with the iconic peoples cars (Beetle and Mini). Also the DB5 is silver and I doubt LEGO would make that many pieces in that colour.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A car is probably the only set LEGOcould make that would not violate the child-friendly image they work so hard to cultivate. Handgun-type pieces are only permitted far in the past or in futuristic outer space. And there is no way they would do anything to approve the agent's womanizing behavior. A car could make sense, as a gadget is unlikely or could stand on its own, but any set with figures would have to be too generic to merit anything like this.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

What I'm wondering, is Lego Thínking of a new set with Aston Martin/James Bond in mind, or have they already thought about it... :-) Let's hope we'll see something soon!

Gravatar
By in France,

Please an Aston DB5 Creator set. Please not Technic. Any missiles / gadgets or ejector seat would be awesome!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Well Aston Martin have replied and James Bond account has replied. Obviously a James Bond Aston Martin. But what type of set is the question... creator expert I hope

Gravatar
By in Germany,

James Bond is on Twitter? I didn't think he was the type.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another licensed set. Yawn.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Has it been taken down? I can't see the original post.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Probably a Brickheadz Bond.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Yes! Finally a model of the legendary and iconic BMW 7-series from Tomorrow Never Dies! Hope it's a Juniors set! Instant Buy!

Jokes aside, curious which James Bond Aston it's going to be and what it will look like. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a creator series.

By the way: my twitter doesn't show this post.

By in Canada,

If so, whether it’s Technic or lego system ( Mini Cooper, Camper van) , it better have A ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF GADGETS !! Missiles, nets, lasers, grapples, etc . If possible, being able to convert into submersible mode!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

If we consider Harry Potter D2C set and now this, LEGO is definitely getting better at preventing LEGO sets LEAKS!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think a Speed Champions sized Aston Martin and Bond minifigure would be cool, anything bigger and more expensive would probably be a pass for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If it wasn't specified Aston Martin was involved, I would have guessed the reference was to the US Secret Service: and thus a Donald Trump brickhead! All the cool new dark orange pieces we'd get! :P Just kidding...

007 is much cooler then! ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Who knows. I'd love to see a James Bond theme. I've always been fascinated at how Corgi was able to cram all the functions of the film DB-5 in a 1/43 scale model.

While I'd love to see Bond's DB5 in Technic, my wallet would like something Speed Champions sized.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Interesting...
The folder is signed 007.
James Bond was originally supposed to be in LEGO Dimensions year 3 before it's cancellation. Maybe they still want to use the license?
I'm not really a Bond fan, but if this teaser means what what I think it may mean we're gonna get a lot of cool minifigure pieces.

Gravatar
By in United States,

James Bond is a theme similar to the Simpsons and SW, a good dos epf adultos content diluted for public consumption.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

New Creator Expert car: James Bond's Aston Martin DB5. It's about time the 2018 Creator car set is unveiled.

Gravatar
By in United States,

i'm guessing a Technic car. James Bond theme doesn't seem to fit otherwise.

Gravatar
By in Mexico,

Give me a DB5!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I hope its the old one and not the new one with Daniel Craig

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I‘d also guess a Creator Expert DB5. They have a faible for the UK and they denied the Ideas Jaguar, so I guess it‘s going to be a convertable.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

next creator expert 10262

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Bond and Blofeld Mighty Micros. With the latter micro being Blofeld's cat.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

If it's a Technic car with James Bond gadgets, that would definitely interest me! Much more so than the previous two cars.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Although an Aston Martin DB5 and Sean Connery figure would be awesome, I would have thought that James Bond would be one of the last things Lego would ever consider making (for obvious reasons).

If they do release an Aston Martin I really hope it is brick built and it would be great to have a set replicating the scene in Goldfinger where Q explains the car. "Ejector seat, your joking." Now that would be a cool and interesting play feature....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So it's a special secret model. It's obviously an Aston Martin from a James Bond film. I'd guess at the DB5, since kids aren't interested in James Bond, Lego will go for the nostlagia of the dads. Here's the kicker though...it's a special model, a secret model...I'm guessing limited to just 007 sets.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

On a hunch, I'm assuming it'll be something absurdly over-priced?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think everyone saying it's a James Bond series probably have it right. There's no reason to tease the secret service aspect for an Aston Martin release. And you'll have a lot of espionage fans who would be disappointed if it turned out to be just a car model.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh man a Bond Aston Martin from LEGO?!? I’ll have to buy some as presents!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I highly doubt this would actually be a James Bond system theme so it's much more likely the a Creator Expert vehicle - albeit now with a more explicit license attached to it (which I would love I should add). I don't think they'd release (or at least hype) another Technic vehicle so soon after the Bugatti Chiron release as it wouldn't make marketing sense.

Hopefully our 'Creator Expert' Aston has a Bond minifig in there as well - in a similar way to Star Wars UCS sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lego Bond? awwww yeah =)

I know the Aston would be one, but please also make a Lego Lotus Esprit!
Also have it so each set comes with a different Bond in minifigure form -

Connery with DB5
Dalton with Aston V8 Vantage
Brosnan with Aston V12 VS Zao in Jaguar XK

etc ...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

No offense to the older afols, but I am 26 and I definitely don’t want it to be db5 , why ? Silly question, way, way too OLD! Ghostbusters and BTTF were fine but that one would be far too old, a model from a more recent movie would appeal too more. One from a Daniel Craig or Pierce or Dalton would be great.

Gravatar
By in United States,

don't they still have the Mission impossible license from lego dimensions?

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's Moonraker!

Gravatar
By in United States,

An Aston Martin of some sort in the Speed Champion Len I’m thinking (hoping for) this will be.

Gravatar
By in Romania,

Aston Martin DB5 - next Creator Expert car?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Whatever it will be, I‘m really looking forward to the GWP Creator Mini.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Going to make my set number prediction...
Either 10262 or 10263....

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

If this turns out to be anything but a Creator Expert model of an officially-licensed bond-themed Aston Martin DB5, I'll be utterly disappointed :p

@Antoine23 I'm "only" 34 but I still want the DB5 ... failing that one I'll take the slightly less old Lotus Esprit (an actually working submarine one of course :p ) thank you. All the newer Bond cars are somehow less unique in my opinion. Not to mention that the DB5 has been featured in more then one movie

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Ah, come on. I have to spend a ton of money on the Bugatti already... *sigh* life of a collector is tough. ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Antoine 23 Daniel Craig drives an Aston Martin in two or three of his four films. I always found it a silly anachronism more than anything else myself, and have no fondness for the car, but it's association with the Bond franchise is inescapable.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Oh man, if it isn't that creator db5 I've been dreaming about for years...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Perhaps the start of new Aston Martin and James Bond themes? Both would be excellent news.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Very very excited!! C'mon, give us the news :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Antoine 23
I'm a TFOL and I'm hoping for a DB5. It's much more iconic regardless of age.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If this is a James Bond car is there any possibility it'll have to do with The Billion Brick Race next year? I'm sure they'd want to put some 2018 LEGO sets in the film that aren't exclusively based on it as easter eggs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Minifig scale *pre-1987 films* & I'm all in...

Oddjob & Jaws minfigs, yep!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hope its a minifig-scale DB9 or DB11 or whatever the newest Bond car will be. Not a big fan of the older Bond movies so I don't really care about the DB5. I think classic Bond is a bit overrated. Casino Royale is awesome though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Little Nellie gyrocopter from YOLT? Could make a nice medium sized technics set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

No idea, don't really care, and will find out soon enough I'm sure...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m betting its a creator Expert. Every year there is one and this should be it. Guessing $100-150 range. It would be somewhat of a disappointment if it was related to Speed Champions and turned out to be a cheap 200-300 piece set. I highly doubt its going to be a Technic, as the Chiron just came out

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Judgeguy Errr...Bond never owned a DB9 or DB11. Even in the newest films, Bond's car is the DB5.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@Greendude
For the movie Spectre, it’s a DB10

Gravatar
By in United States,

thanks to eiker86 for the link.

it says 1:13 scale DB5 from 1963 Goldfinger Movie. and other 2 sets from goldeneye and Casino Royale- in august 2018.

Creator expert car scales somehow 1:17. so we are expecting the next brick built expert car !!!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

If it's old and cool, it's called classic.
