What a nice monorail set! I did not even knew that it existed. Beautiful.

Gosh I wish I could buy the monorail, but after shipping it's heading for $2,000 AUD already :(

Hey, don't put the farm/pigtractor up! I want to win that lot, and this is not helping! ;)

The Futuron Mono is better than the Unitron in my opinion. That LEGO logo light is pretty cool too.

We are moving house, and I've just got my 6991 out from under the bed. Its used from when I got it aged 10 (obviously!) but still has the box. Are they seriously worth that much money?!

I snagged that Unitron monorail 3 years ago on eBay for a BIN price of $175.00. That's not a typo. For gods sake, don't spend 4 figure......

It’s only worth so much because it’s new. Used ones go for $300-400 on Bricklink/eBay. I think I got mine 10 years ago from a local seller for $200. So it’s definitely still appreciating.

Huh. I agree, the bidding for the 6991 is a little ridiculous to me, but then again, I bought mine almost 7 years ago. I paid around $600 for it on eBay, and the condition of the set was virtually identical to this one. The only thing majorly different was that both seals on the set were broken. Which, judging by the pictures on Catawiki, the one sealed flap doesn't make a hill of beans of difference since the whole set is pictured opened up with all the contents spread out of the box. And the box for mine looks nicer, too!

My expert analysis: while 6991 rivals Airport Shuttle for the title of "King of the Monorails", and has certainly appreciated in value since 2011, don't go blowing over $1000 for this! eBay is your friend; just need a modicum of patience. Find one that is opened with sealed bags like this for around $800 or so.
