Those who purchased 75192 Millennium Falcon during 2017 received a black VIP card, granting access to some exclusive offers this year. Those promotions have been disappointing so far but a truly exclusive item has now been revealed.

5005747 VIP Star Wars Gift was listed on shop.LEGO.com earlier today. It features a brick-built holder for the VIP card and a unique minifigure with a Millennium Falcon graphic on its torso.

The precise details surrounding this promotion have yet to be confirmed but we will provide more information as soon as it becomes available.

Do you have a black VIP card and are you satisfied with this promotion? Let us know in the comments.

It’s taken them 11 months to come up with that?

By in United States,

Don't suppose there's anything for those who bought in 2018...

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

thank you Lego, it's awesome !

Gravatar
By in United States,

the mini-figure should have black hands not yellow.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That print is gonna be pretty valuable in the future I'd guess, looks nice too, the yellow hands are a little weird IMO, but it's cool

Gravatar
By in United States,

@CapnRex101: The number in the article is typoed.

By in United Kingdom,

LEGO, you are 'aving a laugh!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm perfectly fine with the lack of promotions for this. As someone that doesn't have a Falcon or Black VIP card, the whole thing was just unfair from the start, and it seems like LEGO realised that.

Withholding promotions and GWPs from customers that either couldn't afford it at that time, weren't able to get it because of availability issues, or simply just not wanting the Falcon, is just kinda scummy from a company that typically treats its customers with great respect (I mean, look at their customer service). So I'm pretty happy there hasn't been anything too major for this. (Plus, LEGO doesn't owe you anything, you got what you paid for in the Falcon, so please stop complaining)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It's a small token and no mistake, but I do like that it's both commemorative and exclusive :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yellow hands?? Lame!! I wonder if anything is printed on the 1x2 tile the figure is holding. Hmmm

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm hoping the 1x2 is a printed black VIP card?

Gravatar
By in United States,

So does this mean I get something for the Bond Aston Martin sometime next year?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As a lucky chap who got in early it's nice but I believe that a VIP club in a VIP club is something of a damp squib for all those that struggled with a very haphazard supply issue for the majority of this 'exclusive' period.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder how long it takes for MandR to make a video about this

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Why yellow hands?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Who's the creepy dude all in black? Can anyone say "Lego serial killer"?

Gravatar
By in United States,

This confirms for me that Lego over promised and under delivered on the black VIP promotions for the year. I don't care too much for the exclusive torso... I was looking/hoping or an exclusive minifig from Star Wars universe and/or an exclusive micro fighter or other small set. I worked so hard to get my Falcon by the year end and now I'm just disappointed and feel cheated as a black VIP cardholder.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Edit: It took Ryan 21 minutes

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is this like a December Fools joke?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I wonder how many will keep their black VIP card in this ridiculous holder? I for one always carry it around and am proud to show it every time I go shopping in the Store. So this gift is pretty useless and just a black dust collector. Glad TLG made something useful for the black aftersale market (pun intended) :(

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I don't have the Falcon but if I did I'd be pretty disappointed...this isn't even a free gift for purchasers of the Falcon, it's a gift with purchase...
Edit: Ok so according to MandR, apparently they were up for a few hours for general sale on the Lego Shop website for mere pennies each, and some people ordered 99 of them.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

At the time I was really upset for not getting the Falcon in time for the Black VIP card, but it seems like I was wrong all along: can't have a bad feeling about this anymore and hope others agree with me :) Nonetheless a really mischievious game for those who got the Black VIP card...

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Isaac The Animator were you just monitoring his channel? :)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@tfcrafter if that’s true then LEGO can do nothing right. This is supposed to be an exclusive and now some reselling scumbag is out there with a literal stockpile of them.

Bad enough that this program was a complete letdown, that’s just icing on the cake

Gravatar
By in United States,

Bwhahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like it. Just need the deets

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

And it was available accidentally for £0.01 with a max quantity of 99 or $4.99 with max quantity of 5

Lego has screwed up big time on this promo, i love MandR reaction though :)

Oh and also the figure is holding a 1x2 black tile which i guess might be a miniature Blsck Vip Card but that’s a assumption

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

At least it's something lol.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You know, according to Lego HQ communications to store employees, they stated the main reason for having the black VIP card was for experimental marketing purposes to determine if "special" things like this could raise sales. Well it might have raised sales, but it sure raised a good amount of angry customers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Whoever Lego put in charge of this exclusive VIP card promo should have been fired long ago...

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

What a fizzer this whole promotion has been, did Lego actually have some big plans and ideas that never eventuated or were they making it up as it went?
How hard would it have been to make all Star Wars purchases this year min double VIP points (the odd special triple VIP points offer). Include a special polybag or give away every month and with something very special back at May the 4th?

Gravatar
By in United States,

People are really gonna lose their minds. That falcon print will drive collectors crazy!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't wait to put my card in it's LEGO coffin!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I was hoping for something a little more interesting for the final offer of the year....but I do look forward to receiving this promo. Fingers crossed don't have to spend too much to get this...

Gravatar
By in United States,

LEGO really dropped the ball on this whole deal from the start and “dirtied” one of the greatest sets ever made. They totally underestimated demand leaving many (myself included after a 2 hour drive and getting there 3 hours early) empty handed on launch day. I was finally able to get one in Dec. last year. Awesome set! The promotions have probably been so basic since the demand was much, much higher than expected.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was't a part of this promotion, but it does sound like LEGO has let down a bit on their promise of great promotions. Probably a case of over-hyping. Reminds me of Ralphie getting his decoder ring in A Christmas Story.

Seems like if they didn't make it such a big deal, and/or at least made the promotions a little better.

At least give the exclusive minifigure to black VIP members for free...and yes, why make the hands yellow on an all-black black vip promotion...that's just sloppy thinking.

I mean, if I'd been lucky enough to get the Falcon during the promo time, and getting the black VIP card, I think I'd be happy with at least one decent freebie (and cut out all the hype). Like just give out the exclusive minifigure with the Falcon print...that's pretty nifty (of course, still, should have had black hands).

Gravatar
By in Canada,

it's been horrible, plain and simple... where is the exclusive Star Wars polybags? Just one good CMF would have done... except we get weak double points and like nothing... for all the money I spend on Lego this was poorly done and this frame does not make it any better

Gravatar
By in United States,

So LEGO can give out limited figures for free at Comic-Con no problem, but can't do right for the people who bought an $800 set. Then they let any buy up to 99 at [email protected] Way to screw over your customers LEGO.

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

Let's see, if there will be sellers with like 10+ of these on BL/Ebay then we know that TLG managed one last insult to the Black VIP holders and shipped the wrongful orders.

Whatever the outcome, I think that for years to come they can forget to plan any marketing promotion around some special loyalty cards. Any social media about that would be spammed with reminders of this Black VIP fiasco...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The VIP card promotion was a bust! All I get out of it is cheerful admiration from the LEGO store employees. Actually, I ended up with two cards, since I had my wife by another Falcon. We gave a fake name of "Leia Organa" and LEGO sent us a printed card with that name. The best part about the promotion was the donation of the card to the Brickworld 2018 auction and it sold for more than $200. I'm sure that it will be work alot more in the future.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m so confused. So, how do we even go about claiming one? I got one or two emails this year about the “special” Star Wars vip promos, but I’ve received no information about this and do not see it on lego.com. I have to agree with others that this was a huge bait and switch. I like the Falcon just fine and it’s not like I entirely regret rushing to grab one in time, but marketing for this card has been bonkers. It would have been enough of a promo to just have a cool card; otherwise it was just a bunch of vague and mysterious promises of something else that have ultimately led to the let down.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That looks great but I suspect that Lego fans expected better and things in months.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks Awesome! I love it! My only question is: Why are his hands yellow?

Gravatar
By in Austria,

In my opinion, @FreewheelBricks is totally on the money. Giving Black Card members Exclusive SW Figures or something similar would have been extremely unfair to those who can't afford it, or have no space for it, or don't want it.
While this brick-built thing is at least "something" and has exclusive printed pieces, I think they should've just granted the Black Card holders %-discounts on future purchases.

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

@polyester333 supposedly one should get an email with code like what was done for the Y-wing poster in May. Then use the code online with any SW order. Start date should be 7th December, at least in Europe.

@Ephseb and @FreewheelBricks - in light of TLG making special issues of sets for SDCC and such events where they fall mostly in the hands of people reselling them, the option to give something of real desirability to the real fans and early MF UCS adopters is nothing to frown upon. With few tens of thousands of 2017's MF sales even something with the size of lets say Blizzards special Omnic would not rise over 100-200 in secondary sales. Right now you can buy the MF with some planning for -20% off which would give the later adopters a choice money or special set on secondary market.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

@Ephseb, no worse then those of us who cant afford to make it to a Com con and pick up an exclusive set.
Lego do a heap of exclusive sets, whether they be for special events or special countries or companies. Not too mention their own end of year employee gift.
They promoted this as a big deal, we didnt ask them too.
They failed to deliver big time and now when they had a chance to redeem themselves slightly, they screwed up!

Gravatar
By in United States,

So exactly where does this show up on the Lego site? I have one of the black Vip cards, but I don’t see this anywhere on the Lego [email protected] site.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Given all of the whining that been done all year long about this, none of the poor little rich kids that have one of these cards are going to be satisfied with anything Lego does at this point. I'm sorry you poor little rich kids think you deserve free stuff because your a poor little rich kid.

Maybe this is cool. I'm not sure to be honest. What reminds me of black costume Spider-Man/Venom. As a couple of others have pointed out; Why the yellow hands?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LusiferSam Im not a rich kid, or even a kid. I work hard for my money, and dont have alot of disposable income. LEGO promised a year of deals and exclusives. The only special thing we got was a black card, and a piece of paper. I understand if it overwhelmed LEGO, but they did nothing in my eyes to make it better. A simple email saying they were sorry, and we weren't go to get anything would of been better then how LEGO handed this.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

@CapnRex101, to answer your question, unimpressed, overall, however...

LEGO did not have to offer this, nor any of the other gifts with purchase items, that they do, throughout the year. So, for my having to spend $800 plus tax and countless hours trying to complete my cart on [email protected] on launch... I welcome the gesture.

Totally disagree with some commenters, who say this promo was unfair. Why? Almost all of their promos require a cash spend level, one could argue that having to spend $75 or $100 within a Theme, for a pollybag or small set is unfair, right? Come on... in the retail business,, they are called ‘premiums with purchase’ for a reason!

My only ‘complaint’ centers around the fact that most AFOLs, who bought this set, have expressed their desire for more exclusive figures. Seeing as the set ‘s design & minis focused on both The Empire Strikes Back and The Force Awakens... perhaps they could have stayed on that theme or expanded. Imagine if, on offer were Lando’s former first-mate, L3, who became part of The Falcon’s Hyperdrive or... what if we had a shot at Lando, from the final scene of Empire, in Han’s New Hope attire? How about a boxed 4 pack from Return of The Jedi like they just did for Potter, Marvel & Ninjago?

LEGO is such a creative company, with compelling products and amazing customer service... hopeful, they continue all the great things they do and learn from feedback to be even more awesome!

Excited to somehow incorporate this promo with my display...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@Brikkyy13 what makes it worse is the order was already confirmed to be in the warehouse, meaning Lego can do nothing to cancel the order or offer a refund - those 99 exclusive sets are going to be sold.

@LusiferSam this has nothing to do with "poor little rich kids." This has to do with Lego failing to follow through with their black VIP 2018 program, which has pretty widely been seen as a total disappointment. I'm sure the people that worked hard to buy the set and drove hours to buy it on opening day, partly for the black VIP card and its promotions, are very disappointed.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

@LusiferSam ridiculous comment.
Jealous much??

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

My order of 99 was cancelled yesterday. Way to be a party pooper, TLG.

Gravatar
By in France,

Finally something nice! I actually didn't know where to put my black card, so this is welcome.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Hilariously useless.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wish it had more hard to find parts on it! Rather than just a load of black brick that u could just build from your lego collection!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Lego have definatelynstuffed up on this again... no exclusive release to Lego VIP card holders if it got released to general public... Lego should be emailing ALL Black card holders and providing an explanation... would love it if somebody had a contact at Lego to ask the question as the customer service line have no clue

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Not really impressed with this, I was hoping for a cool Star Wars figure or a miniature build.
What I thought Lego might do for the final promo, was release a polybag to kit out that empty room in the UCS Falcon.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Black VIP card. Here in Norway we don't get VIP cards, so it's nice to finally have one I can use whenever I'm in a Lego store in the UK, (I used to bring a yellow post-it with my VIP number on it). I just feel they over hyped the whole thing a bit too much.
I could have saved $300 if I'd waited, I'll probably be a bit more wary of similar promos in the future.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I would be interested to hear from anyone who was able to order them and their order was stated as “in warehouse” if it was cancelled at that stage or were their orders only cancelled in the “processing” phase

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Lame!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The whole thing has been pointless. It's been a waste of time carrying the card in one's wallet, now we have somewhere to dump it. Hat's off to you Lego for the biggest "non-event" in Lego history

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Finally! The special snowflakes are getting something they can hold over the rest of us.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Amen gmonkey76

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hilarious listening to all those who don't have a black VIP card and their bitter writings
Almost pleased that fellow AFOL don't get what the exclusives they were promised just because they couldn't afford something.
I don't begrudge anyone who got a Lester because I couldn't get down to the shop because I work and others don't or could get time off.
I don't begrudge those who have the first Cloud City because I couldn't afford it at the time.
I don't begrudge those in ride queues at Disney who buy a fast pass. I know I would every time if I could!!!
Horrible way to be.....

As for the promotion it has been a disgrace.
The card has meant literally nothing although it is a nice card to have.
Don't make promises of exclusives etc and then fail to deliver.
Polybags, minifigures, events, triple points. All of these are simply delivered.
Not cool Lego, not cool.

The worst thing about it is I would have bought it anyway. Its the undelivered promises that are disappointing.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

How much do you have to spend to get a black VIP card? Looking at the value of my collection I wonder how much more I have to spend.
The MF was bought by me in 2018 unfortunately

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That's a hard to find minifig mostly going into the hands of hardcore collectors.

Assuming it's not distributed more widely that is surely gonna be a £50-100 minifig to sell on Bricklink?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I think it is perfect - and also very appropriate.

I have the Falcon (and love it ! ), but was unable - like so many - to get it during the exclusive period - which was never really a big deal. I am more than happy with the Falcon, any exclusive item, to be honest, should be seen as a bonus and not an entitlement.

Besides it actually looks great -and I shall enjoy it from afar.

Gravatar
By in France,

It was just confirmed that all those who managed to order them got their order cancelled (as they were put by mistake on the website).

I am personally looking forward to getting mine, it looks nice and I am sure it will grow in value with time.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That's actually a pretty neat little gift though I'd be annoyed if it was the only decent promotion I'd got all year after the promises made. Like others have said the yellow hands are an odd choice, it makes the minifig very creepy as it implies it's a person with a hood over his head! The torso print is awesome though, shame it won't get a wider release. This has inspired me to do something similar with my normal card and last years red minifig from the mini shop GWP.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

cant wait for the ebay rush

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As someone who tried to buy the new MF but it was unavailable, I have always been a bit miffed about the black VIP card thing. I mean I have the vast majority of Star Wars sets released over the past decade or so and am obviously a major SW Lego fan. So to miss out because Lego couldn't make enough units seemed rather unfair. If they had supply issues then they should really have extended the qualification period for the card. And although so far it hasn't amounted to much, if these exclusives continue it will be one kick in the teeth after another :(

Gravatar
By in France,

Replace the V on the card with an R and you have a good idea of this year of high promises in the special offers linked to this famous Black Card. Which will be in the hall of fame of one of the biggest mess of Lego business IMO.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Re: "according to MandR, apparently they were up for a few hours for general sale on the Lego Shop website for mere pennies each, and some people ordered 99 of them"

As someone who hasn't got one of those black VIP cards, I can honestly say I am LMFAO!!!!!
This is so typical TLG, especially typical of the [email protected] team who are so utterly incompetent it is mindboggling.

The only competent and sympathetic people at TLG to me are those working in the customer service department. They really shine way above the rest!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As has been said, A rather you could just build it yourself set, apart from one torso and possibly one tile. Maybe the idea is you add your own head/hair and Legs so its you with a VIP shirt standing next to your card........ Might make one for my ID badge at work.............

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Does Brickset make a statement in this matter? When I call the Lego customer service as an individual the employee doesn’t have a solution for me. Maybe an apology, but that will be it. But if we protest as a community (read: Brickset) the impact will be much bigger right?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Keep it up y'all, on both sides!

This is great, and I have plenty of popcorn left.

Gravatar
By in France,

TLG set expectations too high concerning the advantages of the Black VIP card. Most who have the black aren't impressed and thos that missed out due to MF product availability are unhappy because they missed out on black card.

It'll be interesting to understand the conditions (if there are any ?) for obtaining this promotion. I belieive that TLG need to make a special effort concerning the trials and tribulations of the VIP black card experienced by thousands of Lego fans.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If anyone actually spent $800 for a set just to get a little black plastic card, then you deserve to get burned for being utterly stupid. Otherwise you spent $800 on a great Lego set that will give you decades of enjoyment and conversations, which also happened to include a failed promo. Either way nobody has a valid reason to complain. If people are so hurt from not getting promos then talk to Lego and return your Mellenium Falcon (I’m sure there’s more than a few that have never been built) for a refund and go about your merry way. Sure it may be a bit upsetting that Lego dropped the ball on this one, but stop complaining already. If someone simply paid for a card upgrade and got nothing for it, then sure, go and shout your disdain to all.

Personally I could care less, I never got one and never desired one. I also possessed the vision and insight not to buy into it in the first place as the whole idea seemed a bit half-baked and too good to be true from the get-go.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Gravatar
By in United States,

Come on people did you seriously think you could pull a fast one on LEGO and they would sell you these for pennies on the dollar? Once they discover errors like these they can always feign some kind of issue - which obviously it was. Where does it say they absolutely have to sell you this, especially at that price?

As far as the promotion goes, I'd be disappointed because that minifig is pretty bland but please help jog my memory where LEGO ever said they'd be giving away free exclusive merchandise with purchase? My understanding was the opportunity to BUY exclusive stuff but not free. Yes, LEGO screwed up on the inventory demand and follow through promotion but they most certainly don't owe you anything for free.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sweet. $800 to get the UCS Falcon and a gimp minifigure. Money well spent!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It’s been utter rubbish! Complete and utter waste of time! Just a huge disappointment! They didn’t even do anything for my birthday which is actually May 4th!
A special year for the black card VIPs is just a joke the 2018 calendar had better things!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lego not only cancelled my order of just 3 of these things for 3p they also cancelled the other 8 items I paid for. Way to compound the error, Lego!
Edit: I just checked my payment and they never took the money but they did take the VIP points I had used & they failed to give them back. Does anyone in Lego have the faintest idea what they are doing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I always thought that when they said they'd do something exclusive for the black card peeps, they'd offer very exclusive models like the insider tour kits, or employee kits, etc. Even that Bat-Pod for ViPs a little while back. Stuff like that.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Phathead (and others)
Funny how the people saying to stop complaining also don't have any interest in or not the means to have bought the set. Of course you don't care. We were promised an exciting promotion "all year long" and got nothing. I didn't buy the Falcon for the card, it's a false argument to say anyone did. Lego broke it's promise, plain and simple. Why would anyone want to display their Black VIP card after this fiasco? To constantly remind themselves how Lego let them down?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don’t understand why people think “it’s not fair” for people who have the black card to be entitled to additional privileges. TLG said they would and they didn’t. If they had, it would’ve been completely fair. Do you all also think it’s not fair that some people drive better cars than your own, or own bigger houses, etc?

This “promo” though is a total joke.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I would hope the person or persons responsible for this VIP idea is made to read these comments as part of their 'learning experience'..

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lots of angry people. I would of bought my UCS Falcon on day one regardless of any offers if there had been enough stock. I waited until November last year even though I knew a year later it would be reduced, just as I bought the UCS Slave I on day one. For those that bought a Falcon just for the card and offers, perhaps have a quiet word with yourself for being a bit naive. For those that want the GWPs, eBay will be flooded with them just as it does with each new Comic Con set release. Life is full of winners and losers - you can't have everything

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Well this thread has been an interesting and entertaining read.

I myself tried to get a MF on launch and missed out with the website timing out. The reason i wanted one was more that I had missed out on the previous UCS MF set as I couldn't afford that one at the time. This time around I knew this set was coming and knew that I had saved enough to get it. I finally got one last year on the off change that I was in the Leicester Square store and they just happened to have it in. I personally think the hype around the card is being made by us all, if you read the notes that used to be on the VIP section of [email protected] then it did 'imply' that there would be 12 months of promotions or that is how you could have read it. It wasn't stated that is what you would get. Was there 12 months of promotions - Answer: No. Was there some promotions then yes, potentially 2-3 I think. It did also say that they would do a promotion at the end of the year which is this one. The promotions that we did get like double point on certain sets weren't exactly big seller sets or sets that I would have considered having in my SW collection. I find with all double points sets they are either 6-12 months old or ones that I bought on launch or don't want in my collection. Recently the best double points for VIPs was the Hogwarts Castle so soon after launch.
Whenever we think we are getting something for free this heightens our expectations and therefore we will feel disappointed if something isn't delivered.
If TLG want to redeem themselves its an anniversary of LEGO and Star Wars next year I believe so they have some different sets coming out, they could decide to extend the programme and do stuff then.
It seems like a great idea that hasn't been executed well. For those that are doing the most complaining about it maybe you should write to LEGO and ask them for a job dealing with VIP promotions. Might be worth putting your action where your mouth is... it is difficult to please everyone.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As much as I admire the new UCS MF the price put me off; for the money I'd rather invest in all of the Creator Expert Theme Park sets, which I'm slowly doing. However, that printed torso on this Minifigure is pretty sweet. I'd love to have a few of them for figures standing in line for the SW movies at my Palace Cinema (which I bought aftermarket SW movie posters for :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ooh, look, he's wearing a pair of yellow proctological exam gloves! How appropriate! Actually, the yellow hands do make sense when you consider that people may want to use the torso as a shirt for a regular minifig. Put a yellow head on it, and it looks like a normal minifig.

@theguru1974:
I'm seriously tempted to display mine with the card facing away in shame.

@mr_skinny:
There will probably be some, but I wouldn't count on the market being flooded with them just yet. SDCC tradition is to finance your trip with any freebies you can scoop up, so most of the SDCC minifigs probably go to people who aren't serious AFOLs, while you couldn't even buy the Falcon in 2017 without being a registered VIP.

There will certainly be a market for these, and partly because of the minifig it will command high prices, but there's no way to know how many AFOLs will decide to hang onto their set vs how many will be tempted by the cash payout (the fact that this could be considered a LSW set with a LSW minifig complicates this for completists). We don't have any idea how the demographics break down on AFOLs vs scalpers or single copies vs multiple copies, and we don't know if anyone who bought multiple copies of the Falcon will be allowed to secure matching quantities of this cardholder set.

But compare this to Mr. Gold. It's a highly desired minifig that pulls in ridiculous prices and has tons of interested buyers, but you don't see a ton of them being listed. Kids may not know how valuable the minifig actually is, and adults may just want to hang onto them. Certainly it'd be hard to let one go if you were someone who was trying to stay 100% complete on the CMF theme, no matter how much you could make off of it.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

To anyone saying people should stop complaining: no, they shouldn't.

It is quite simple. TLG promised special promotions for Black VIP Card holders over the whole course of the year. They delivered next to nothing.
They simply broke their promise, which is inexcusable, and VERY bad marketing.

What they should have done (sure, easy to say in hindsight of this fiasco, but nonetheless, smarter people in the marketing department could have come up with this plan) is they should not have promised anything other than the special Black VIP Card, delivered that one on time and in sufficient quantities, and then provided a gift like this card holder as an added surprise, either for May the 4th or at some other point during the year.
I bet everyone would have been happy that way.

As it is, I can understand everyone with a Black VIP Card who is unhappy and voicing their disappointment.

Has there been any official word on how/when these will be available. While I am on the fence about whether or not I really want one, I feel like it could be considered part of my overall Lego Star Wars Collection, so I don't want to miss the opportunity to get one. I tried putting something in my cart that was Lego Star Wars and the only thing it added was the Christmas Carousel, so clearly it's not active (yet).

Did you buy a Falcon from Lego in 2017 ? If not then you can't get one of these from Lego, wait for Ebay. If you did, you should have received a Black VIP card and be on the 'special' mailing list to receive info.

I have Black VIP card but I don’t get any ‘special’ email or information about the special offer!

I am also a Black Card holder but have not had any communication regarding this offer. I hope Lego doesn't screw this up any further by not making sure everyone gets one.

I should probably let this die, but the whole thing just doesn't sit right with me, so if anyone is still playing attention and is as frustrated as me:

Did Lego commit fraud with this promotion? Fraudulent misrepresentation or something like it? They were probably careful, but I feel like they are walking a thin line here. I feel I was deceived into making a purchase with the promise of receiving access to promotions throughout the year.

I assigned a value to these so-called "promotions" based on the information that was advertised and that's what drove me to make the purchase asap and without waiting to buy during a double VIP points period. So I immediately forfitted $40.00usd of VIP points by not waiting for double VIP. The promotions I've received with additional Lego purchases have been of significantly less value than what I expected. Certainly less than $40.00usd. Also "Contests" and "Rewards" are plural and I can't recall multiples of these. There was only one contest. Was double VIP points the rewards? Because we already get those throughout the year.

Anyway, regardless of intent or wrongdoing, Lego has reminded me that they are in it for themselves even though they pretend to care about their customers. They will do whatever they can to maximize profit, and the black VIP card just seems like a case of generating buzz to increase sales and demand at the expense of the most enthusiastic Lego Star Wars fans.

I'm so disappointed in the failed execution of the black VIP card promotions. And particularly this promotion of a box with spare parts and a torso print which maybe satisfies the fact that this is an exclusive Star Wars minifig even though it's far from what we expected.

@Lego - you know the consensus of the black VIP cardholders is that you failed us. Why would you think we would want to display the infamous card which would just collect dust and constantly remind us of the year of failed promotions and all the negative experiences around constantly hoping for something... anything... and then every time being let down?

The US shop.lego.com site has information about this set. I found it after logging in then going to My Lego VIP -> Lego Star Wars VIP Card. I don’t know if you must be a black card holder to see this information. I have one.

It doesn’t say how a purchase qualifies for the set. I added around $400 of Star Wars sets to the bag but this set never appeared.

I feel ripped as well. The black vip was one of the main reasons I maxed out my bank account to buy the Falcon.

This has been a joke all year, so I really hope they expand the offer to last for 2019 as well, and start bringing os real exclusives.

And to run salt in my wound Toys’r’us just had a black friday sale on it and it was sold for just 3.800 kr. (580$, 510€) instead of the 7.000 kr retail. :(

Well, I built a black card display stand months ago...I'm quite liking the minifig though.

By in Ireland,

Mine has shipped. It didn't require a Star Wars purchase and it can be combined with the current carousel 40293 promotion.
