LEGO teases... something!

Posted by ,

LEGO has published a teaser video on social media for something that's coming soon. However, it's not clear whether it's a new product, a new game, or something else entirely. Whatever it is, it's a bit weird!

Take a look at the snippet after the break and let us know what you think in the comments.

LEGO-mon go?

By in Singapore,

seems like an AR game for mobile phones similar to Minecraft Earth

By in Germany,

something firebrigade, chima, dino-hunter, city, an amazon delivery drone. Put it into a mixer, stir and fry and see what comes out. Careful, it's hot so let it cool down before you eat it! :-)

Something to do with this 'Rebuild the World' set that just appeared? Mashup figures?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have no idea but set 40432????

Gravatar
By in Czech Republic,

there is an interesting post at stonewars.de. They think its related to a new campaign "rebuild the world" 40432

By in Australia,

I saw this video yesterday, and I honestly have no idea what it is for. I'm thinking it could be;
1) a really strange new theme of LEGO
2) some sort of in-real-life LEGO game (potentially AR as @cloud0 has said.)
3) Some sort of kids TV show about live-action LEGO??
Or, my personal favourite;
4) some sort of travelling pop-up theme park/event where you do various activities as a life-sized LEGO minifigure. Not like Legoland where its rollercoasters and stuff, but highly interactive experiences where you are deeply engaged with the story and activities.

... or it could be something else entirely. Despite having watched through this video many times to try to work it out, I still have no real idea.

By in Australia,

FYI I’ve seen the full commercial. It doesn’t mention any app, set etc. It’s a story of a hunter chasing a rabbit in the ‘real world’ with Lego elements thrown in eg. the couple holding the flowers. It ends with the rabbit switching out the hunters arrow for a carrot.

I like the Fabuland referencing!

Classic Space theme being revived ?

By in Turkey,

This video is clearly showing how we feel with the new VIP programme and site update.

By in United Kingdom,

With everything that’s happening around TLG the only thing I really care about is good bricks. Nice designs. Interesting sets & themes. The rest like games & merchandise of all sorts is just not my thing. A bit old fashioned but I’m a Lego purist if you will ... like my trains, town & creator. And of course I do not cut, paint or drill bricks...

By in Canada,

Please tell me it isn’t LEGO Fortnite.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

If it's not some kind of AR game that would be weird, because I can't think of anything else it could possibly be from this clip.
If you look at the 'Rebuild The World' instructions it says you can't mix the pieces up, they have to be in a particular order, which makes me think they need to be in that way for the app to recognise it as a particular character.
So I'm pretty sure it's an app that can recognise figures. Not sure how this extends into an AR game tho

By in Australia,

I'm pretty sure the girl with the over-sized camera was meant to be a mini-doll.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It’s definitely Rebuild the World. Also, that’s Fabuland, not Chima. Show some respect. Oh, and that guy looks like a mustachioed Rick Moranis.

Gravatar
By in France,

It looks like the drop ship from thunderbirds.... but that is totally out of whack with the rest of the clip.....

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Lego Prime if that for some reason is the case... I’m never buying another LEGO set ever again.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks to me like the thing that flies overhead is the underside of a yellow rib boat, though a more realistic one than LEGO make with a proper V-hull and inflatable surround.

Yes, I'd agree it looks like an AR game, and given LEGO's track record with picking hopeless developers (well, all except Traveller's Tales) it's going to be awful and dropped just as it gets its own small hardcore fanbase.

My question is, why isn't the guy with the snorkel wearing a full protective helmet as standard for every LEGO diver? I mean, I know LEGO eventually produced a hairpiece that can genuinely wear a facemask for the collectable minifig Spy, but they never actually use it, do they?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

After having watched this my reactions were:

a) they have the resources for producing silly crap like this, yet printed pieces in 200+ EUR sets are not possible because of "budgetary constraints"?

b) how do I get back the time of my life I have wasted watching such a stupid commercial.

c) thank god there are good alternative brands nowadays to satisfy my brick-building needs, as TLG are losing their minds as well as their customers.

d) if this is meant as a hint at a revival of Classic Space, Castle, Western or Pirates, I will take back everything I wrote before ;-)

The return of Galidor

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

looks like its Lego Rebuild the world

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

No! -It's a .. boat?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don't understand why the Lego company doing a theme you don't like should stop you from enjoying the rest they have to offer, so to the commentor who said they'd never buy Lego again if they did a fortnite line I think that's ridiculous.
I wasn't impressed by the acquisition of the angry birds license but hey maybe not everything's aimed at me I thought and carried on enjoying other Lego.
I feel that was just a lazy bandwagon comment that you thought you could score some points with the crowd by sharing your disdain.
I actually think fortnite seems like a good fit for Lego with the building mechanic in game translating well to a set. You could get locales, battle packs, different wall starter kits a cmf range, it has strong potential. Not what this reveal is though clearly

Gravatar
By in United States,

LEGO Jumanji game? *laugh*

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Ikea/Lego collaboration that's supposed to come out?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Got to be Rebuild the World 40432 related, since the minifig guy in that has the same camoflage jacket and mustache etc.

Gravatar
By in Philippines,

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

All will be revealed 9:30 tomorrow

Gravatar
By in United States,

A. Lego IKEA
B. Lego Fortnite or Nintendo
C. the zebra theme
D. something new

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

6 seconds of innocent/fun video and that’s enough to get some people all upset.

I can understand the need to state disappointment and frustration regarding a long awaited set that doesn’t measure up to your hopes, but to use something like to this to harshly criticise TLG seems extreme.

Looks like a game type thing to me, not of interest but more power to those who enjoy such endeavours.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks like the answer to this question; Things you see in LEGOLAND after eating the wrong kind of pizza toppings...

Gravatar
By in United States,

LEGO GO

Gravatar
By in United States,

New Looney Tunes set or theme?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

That’s totally the guy (or at least the head and torso) of that strange “Rebuild the World” minifigure that recently surfaced. (40432)
However, this looks like someone at LEGO marketing was doing a lot of drugs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The video was just plain weird. Kinda the thing I have in dreams when I watch action TV shows too late and eat junk food.

I just hope this guy's minifig, as appears in 40432 is in a cheap, easily had set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ah so Lego prime you decided to change your comment? Would you still buy Lego then if they made a Lego fortnite range?
My previous comment now looks like I am talking to myself since you revised yours lol.

Noticed someone saying 6seconds of fun got everyone upset but i can't really see any outrage here on this so don't understand your inference that were all angry.....

Gravatar
By in United States,

...WAT?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

So if this isn't an AR thing, people keep talking about "Rebuild the World".
What the heck is that.
Saw a billboard on the way into work it said "PiNK" and in the corner had the LEGO logo and "Rebuild the world"

Gravatar
By in United States,

I saw a ton of big LEGO pieces, maybe another AR LEGO game?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I think that hunter guy looks like J.J. Abrams with a fake moustache. And I believe in this video he’s exploring new filming techniques for the next Indiana Jones instalment after the obvious lens flares are out of style.

So it’s gotta be an ad for Indiana Jones V:
‘Invasion of the flying dinghies’

Coming to a movie theater near you in 2020!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can say with confidence that it has nothing to do with products, re-releases, themes, games, or partnerships. There's a video scheduled to premier tomorrow on Facebook, and I believe it's set to be a commercial on TV. Directly copied from the LEGO YouTube Channel on the video scheduled for the 17th, it says: "It all starts with a brick. And billions of possibilities. Build. Unbuild. Re-build. Experiment. Break the rules. Fail. And try again. This is the cycle of creativity. RebuildTheWorld. What are we up to?"

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think it might be something to do with legoland

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's regarding the pending announcement of a Control+ hardware controller, obviously.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the bit where the group of people are looking up at the sky. The bride appears to be carrying the groom "over the threshold" stylee whilst he holds the giant LEGO bouquet.

And I want to know where I can get a supersized upscaled mug set. NEEEEEEED!
(Though ordering it might be tough since I still can't get the LEGO website to work. I've added being completely unable to browse pab to the list of faults. Let's play guess what part should be displayed 1413 times!)

Billions of possibilities - could some of them include a working website?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I’m guessing it might be an augmented reality game.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Strange...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Very weird, but I appreciate the fact that when all the people look up at the sky, they tilt at the hips like Lego minifigures. :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Some kind of new VR game or experience... please :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks to me like adventures is coming back.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

a distraction from a StarDestroyer with a €700 pricetag

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmm. Lego Worlds with realistic physics?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

"Lego Brawls" mobile game launching exclusively on Apple Arcade (out Thursday) so presume it's a teaser for that?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think it is big lego accessories.

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

I guess whoever conjured up this at Lego Billund, it's tea for sure wasn't camomile.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

LEGO has done extensive market research on their Adult customers, and having decided they display all the signs of uncontrollable heavy addiction have decided to move into the production of hallucinatory drugs.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If they don’t use RebuildTheWorld as an opportunity to sell the lifesize (or larger) mugs/flowers/camera/accessory-of-your-choice as seen in the ad, then they’ve missed a cracking PR trick. More lifesize Lego accessories would make me very happy

Gravatar
By in Czech Republic,

@mojomarn.. hmmm. you mean more lifesize items made purely from plastic, right? I can not imagine your mug made from that unknown bio-originated stuff holding your hot coffee.. geez.. get real.. with the evertightening EU regulations that even cut off the straws?? .. oh. I forgot.. you will be gone from that pack of lunatics by the october 31 :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m just going to chalk this up to being lost in translation.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Whatever it's teasing, it's all about the creativity. LEGO can be what you want, whatever you imagine.

Why not have a dancing chicken mowing the lawn? They are our bricks, we build them our way. :o)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I got it! A 6-second clip! who would have thought?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Its Beautiful

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just saw a fill length commercial on Monday Night Football of all things. Just a new ad campaign, “Rebuild the World”!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Was not expecting to see this air during Monday Night Football. Looks like it's just a new Lego ad campaign

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Looks exactly like rebuild the world chap

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have no idea what this is but I'm so on board!

^ I agree with everyone who's said it looks like the Rebuild the World figure, and the AR game theory makes sense - especially given the recent success of similar games, and LEGO's recent foray into that type of thing with the Hidden Side sets.

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

I'm more interested in sets than games...

Gravatar
By in China,

The leaks say it's an AR game, and you know leaks always get it right just like iPhone 11...

Gravatar
By in United States,

My money's on an AR game, but whatever it is, this little teaser has me curious!

And also, to all those threatening to drop Lego if they produce X theme or Y game... um, why, exactly?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents...
