Fallen Order stuff eh? Wonder if it’ll spoil the identity of the Second Sister...

Razorcrest! Razorcrest! Razorcrest!

Ah yes, the global reveal of all the stuff we know about already.

By in Germany,

What, there is going to be new Star Wars sets? I've Not heard nothing about that, no siree!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Sets that are already sold in some stores and being reviewed on YouTube as we speak. *laughs*

Ha

By in United Kingdom,

Yup, sets that we've already seen on shelves, in stores I bet given we know that its the classic movies, Ep 9 and Mandalorian being pushed.

Star Wars/Disney and LEGO need a new game plan. Nothing like old news.

By in United Kingdom,

They’re a little late in the day for this ... all the sets have been seen and 99% have been reviewed ...by popular Youtubers. We’ll be live streaming ourselves next Friday (October 4) so please do pop by to chat whilst we build some of the new sets :)

Ah, the joys of a broken embargo. I understand and respect why sites like this stick to the rules companies impose, but it's still sad when a company pretends it has a secret that everybody already knows.

Edit: I haven't seen the sets yet myself, because this is the only window I have in my cave, so I'm still interested in the reveal :)

Unfortunately, with Brickset being such a high profile site, we are the first to be asked to take down material LEGO, or rather Disney in this case, does not want distributed.

So, rather than post and wait for the cease and desist to arrive we don't post in the first place, except under specific circumstances (images clearly showing the sets on a shop shelf, for example)

By in Netherlands,

We understand, Huw.
ps.
By 'we' I mean the editorial 'we', because actually I just mean 'me', as I cannot speak for others, though I think others will probably think so too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

yaaaaaaaa.... we knew this already.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

All of you will be surprised, if totally new and unfamiliar sets will be presented tomorrow, ha-ha!

By in Canada,

After seeing the video, unless these actors were « acting » , i wonder if it’s not other sets than the ones we’ve seen, because the ones in shelfs are remakes, more of the old stuff , and although they’re not bad, it’s nothing to get this excited about. Also, the guy that does Finn is late to the party as he has been in minifigs for years

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wait I’m in the LEGOs?!?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Hype is strong with this one...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Already found and bought most of the sets at a local retailer 3 days ago... very odd to "reveal them" now.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m just waiting for yet another person to comment on how people already have the sets..

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm waiting for an early leak of the live stream. Now that would be funny.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I mean for the Lego fan this news is like two weeks late, with reviews and leaks popping up well beforehand.

But for the casual Star Wars fan (say a parent looking for what to buy their kid come Christmas) I am sure these official livestreams will still be their first chance to hear about it.

By in Ireland,

Can't wait to find out .... oh wait hang on I've known for weeks now.

Im excited about some of them, the odd colour change here and there. My real excitement will be for the return of the clone wars sets. Fingers crossed we get an LAAT and AT-TE.

By in Germany,

People who have seen the reviews and pictures are just a small hardcore fan minority, the event is for the masses and will have much more buzz for the general fandom, I think. So it all makes sense, I believe.

Still, for me it becomes more and more difficult to get excited about these events. But I guess that's normal, when you're a SW fan since decades and a LSW fan since 1999. Been there, done it. The last movies were not really that interesting to me and I was never able to like the CW, not even talking about Rebels, Forces of Destiny, Resistance or whatever.
Having said that, I'm kind of curious about the Mandalorean and OB-1 series.

By in Germany,

From that announcement I don't get exited even though I haven't seen the new sets yet.
What does that tell me? Probably that I have too many Star Wars sets already.

Or more realistically, perhaps it was the line
"INSPIRED by a trio of UPCOMING Star Wars releases".

a) "inspired" to me means not faithful renditions of actual vehicles/scenes, but simply in the same style.

b) "upcoming" to me is the killer. Going by the latest flops in the Disney-Star-Wars universe, I have absolutely zero interest in whatever is coming next, let alone sets based on that stuff.

Nuff said.

P.S.: I watched the video without sound and I must admit, just going by the images, I didn't know even one of these people. Who are they? Actors in the new films? Voice talents? Artists? Set designers? I haven't got a clue - nor do I even care.
To me, Disney has killed Star Wars for good.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wait, you mean THERE ARE EPISODE 9 SETS COMING? I had absolutely no idea...it's not like I watch Youtube or anything...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The only way they make this reveal any good is if they also show us a sneak peak of some sets we haven't seen coming in January. Highly unlikely though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@AustinPowers, while you may not have liked any of the new Star Wars films, commercially Solo is the only one that could be considered a flop.

I don't think the whole Force Friday thing and set release dates to get people excited really works. I understand that they want to get people interested and draw crowds, but the merchandise is available the rest of the year; there isn't anything exclusive coming out, and as we've seen stuff gets leaked all the time, often by legitimate retailers.

It worked alright back in 1999 for The Phantom Menace because you didn't have the internet and social media like you do now. Nowadays though, there are so many outlets and avenues to see this stuff that timed reveals don't serve much purpose anymore. What they should do is reveal all of the stuff at once AHEAD of any planned release, far enough in advance that it doesn't have time to reach stores. That would get people talking ahead of time and maybe get excited.

Gravatar
By in United States,

And even Solo wasn't that bad.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Also, it is nice that LEGO does this a few days after the stuff is leaked because it gives me a few days to get excited and then I get to see higher-resolution images and see whether my excitement was worth it or not.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well we unofficially knew of a couple of sets but had not seen the Jedi Fallen Order sets (I am interested in both the game and LEGO sets).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Solo is arguably the most like the 1977 Star Wars type of film we have gotten from Disney so far, while Force Awakens copied the story beats of A New Hope, Solo better understood the spirit of the original film and crafted a new story that while slightly underwhelming, was very honest to the origins and spirit of the franchise.

The problem is someone at Disney got cocky and didn't pause to realize releasing Solo while Avengers 3 and Deadpool 2 were still in theaters was a death sentence... Honesty Solo should have been saved for December 2018, or even held off for a Disney+ release in 2019. I hope the rumors of a Emily Clarke and Ray Park lead Crimson Dawn series for Disney+ come true since the world Solo presented needs more exploration on the Qi'ra, Maul and Lando side.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Even though I have known about these sets for a few weeks, I am excited to see better pictures and the instructions.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

^^ Indeed, Solo is an underrated gem. It's plot is straighforward, but in the spirit of the old movies. And time will show, that it has its place between the truely good SW movies. Not like this Kylo-rubbish sequels. I would have liked to see more sets based on Solo.

Gravatar
By in United States,

In Wyldstyle’s voice:
“Triple Force Friday! Except... on a... Thursday!”

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

I couldn't even watch more than 1/3 of Solo, everything about it was awful.

Of the new films, I enjoyed Rogue One and thought Force Awakens was watchable, even if it completely plagiarized Ep 4. TLJ was laughably bad but I did watch it through the end, like a train wreck.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

A question worth considering is that even if the source material, i.e. the new films, aren't universally liked, does it neccessarily follow the Lego set based on it would be disliked too?

I don't think so. I've seen good ships/vehicles in films I don't like and would happily buy really good Lego renditions of them.

However, the big double-whammy of undesirabilty is created from a weak film with weak Lego sets.

PS I thought most of Solo was great, esp. the Mimban stuff, if the majority of the film was in that grungy battlefield it would have been epic!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw I'm glad you have the problem of being high profile--this site rocks and you earned it!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

To Austin Powers from Germany: and to me you are one of the biggest complainers on this website, make it constructive or quiet down. Nuff said

Gravatar
By in United States,

Apparently, I don’t watch YouTube enough or visit retail stores daily, so I actually haven’t seen any of the new sets yet. I’m therefore honestly looking forward to it.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@Antoine 23: I only complain when I see a reason for it. There are still plenty of - imho - interesting, creative and fun LEGO sets available, and whenever there is an article, review or news tidbit about those here on Brickset you will find that I don't complain about those at all. :-)
