City Advent Calendar - Day 9
Posted by Huw,Today's gift is either a minifigure or a pile of bricks, depending on how you look at it...
In the last few years BrickLink's definition of what counts as a minfigure has changed somewhat, and now includes 'brick built characters', among other things.
This snowman, then, is the 3rd minifigure we have encountered in the calendar, according to the LEGO marketplace.
To me it's just a pile of bricks making a not very impressive snowman. The one in the Friends calendar yesterday was much better.

Oh I don't know I think its quite good , nice shape and a real hat and scarf, yesterdays Friends one was nice and colourful but I didn't like the head it looked too small
It is from the better range of snowmen.
The bottom is round, the head is not a cube, it has a hat and arms.
I agree with the above comments, I think this is one of the better snowmen that Lego has put out. And I like those stick pieces as arms.
Personally, I don't consider it a minifig (it'd be one thing if it was a recognisable character like R2D2 or something, but this one's just a pile of white bricks).
I like this far better than the Friends one. There were some questionable colors on that one and it was very oddly shaped, whereas this is consistently and realistically colored and the proportions are good.
Probably one of the best they’ve done.
All that’s missing is a carrot nose or that printed head.
It's not a bad snowman, it just misses eyes. It's great when you compare it with the friends one though at how the same thing is made but with a clear different philosophy. Lego at it's finest.
Extra scarf piece always nice.
And the different style of tophat is a nice variation as well.
It does have a nice hat though
How anyone can prefer the Friends "snowman" to this is beyond me. This one looks so much better. The Friends one was oddly shaped, the base too wide, the head too small, nothing about it looked like how one would expect a snowman to look. This one otoh looks like one of the best we had in recent years. Not the best overall, but much better than many others.
Well this snowman seems decent. While there have been much better ones like the 2010, 2015 and 2016, this is still quite ok. The top hat is nice, and the design looks ok. At least way better than say 2014 or the 2018 ones. 3/5
My brother and I are alternating days and are very competitive. This most DEFINITELY counts as a Minifigure and now my brother has gotten all 3 of the Minifigs in the City Advent Calendar.
BS! (but Merry Christmas!)
To me it looks like this snowman is ready to rob a bank in the old west. . .
I think this is Lego's best snowman ever! The relatively new top hat, the bright red scarf, and the most realistic combination of pieces make this exquisite. This one stays away from any odd color choices as well. (BTW, most of my snowman bases end up looking like this one's anyway. I never got the art down.) So in conclusion, I definitely agree with the majority opinion that this is a great build.
I thought yesterday's Friends snowman was too colorful, and oddly shaped as well. I replaced the blue technic pins w/grey and it looked much better. My son will love this little build, we just watched Frosty the Snowman yesterday, so it'll be good timing!
Now that's deffinetly a snowman!
Printed eyes would have improved it quite a bit.
The only problem is the middle section, edges always look out of place.
Honestly, I quite like this snowman! That top hat isn't exactly the most common, so it's nice to get it here. The scarf is also pretty good. I suppose one can only build a snowman so many times before you run out of ideas, but the new elements help out a lot.
I agree with those who have said this is among the better LEGO renditions of a snowman. I'd be interested to see what it looks like substituting the printed snowman head from last years SW calendar in place of the plain white one. Maybe remove the scarf if it covers too much of the printing.
Yesterday's Friends snowman was atrocious, this is really really good.
I think this snowman is really good. The top hat is awesome. The only improvement would be the printed snowman face that came with last years Star Wars advent calendar. I wish they would use those more.
This is certainly one of the better snowmen Lego has made. It has a round body, twig arms, is all white, and has good proportions. If they had used a dalek brick and a 1x1 round tile with printed dots (like on Olaf) for the buttons it would have looked even better. Printed eyes would have been nice, even a nose, but they could easily mess that up and make it looked like a demented monster (Lego HAS done that in the past. *cough*yesterday's Fiends Snowman*cough*). All in all, it's a pretty decent snowman. I don't see what you're complain about, Huw.
