Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 5

Posted by ,

Three interesting Christmas trees have emerged during recent days. Hopefully something entirely different becomes available behind door number five today.

Let's open that door and find out...

Banners for each Hogwarts house appear prominently across the Harry Potter series and this creation looks nice, featuring red and gold flags that represent Gryffindor. I like the reddish brown support which feels appropriate for the Hogwarts environment and the contrasting base is suitably broad, ensuring the stability of this model.

However, the design is reasonably simple and would not necessarily stand out within any bigger Harry Potter sets. Furthermore, receiving one banner suggests that additional flags might emerge for each of the four Hogwarts houses and this could potentially become repetitive. Hopefully they would be spread across the calendar, if four different banners are included at all.

Overall - 2.5 - While this model looks attractive, it offers little play value and makes me slightly nervous about the coming days!

It deserves a 1 the parts are worth under 10 cents together.

@Norikins - you are too generous, perhaps 0.1 as it is not an empty bag. At least City got a useful axe.

[Potential spoiler removed]... it spoils an otherwise interesting calendar...

By in Norway,

I was hoping we'd get two of these at once. It's nice looking and useful, but it was decidedly less exciting than the other builds, and I'm not looking forwards to three more days of these.

Reminds me of flag and standard bearers from marching bands, parades, and protests.

I just hope they fixed the red-brown brittle issue, especially with that clip on top.

@Norikins: I would love to know where you buy your parts that cheap.
No seller I know of around here has these parts combined for under 10 cents. That's just ridiculous.

You have every right not to be positive about this day's offering, but don't quote unrealistic part prices! The current part out value for these pieces on BL is 0.52 Euro going by average of past 6 months sales and even 0.62 Euro for current items for sale average.
Just saying.

By in Canada,

Battle of the Licensed Advent Calendars continues. On today's episode of "are you actually kidding me?", we have Gryffindor house colors on flags. Fullstop. This "gift" wouldn't pass the eye test in ANY situation, let alone a Christmas Advent Calendar. The author is far too kind with a score of 2.5. It gets a 0.5, just because there's actual LEGO branded plastic behind door 5. I'm in disbelief...

On the flip side, SW gets a well designed X-Wing. Today's match-up isn't even close. Point goes to SW in a true blue landslide. As such the score is:

HP- 3
SW- 2

To be continued...

@stevesheriw I hope so too... have had several 1x1 clips break in that color recently.

My Quidditch arena is happy for these banners—particularly the rare secondary colors (spoiler).

Let’s not forget the timetable they had for this calendar. Maybe that played a part in these builds?

I think the banners are great, they add to the Hogwarts Castle sets.

This brings classic Castle vibes :)

I actually like the banner. Fits very well in a Hogwarts build.

I don't really think it's fair to score this lower because there MAY be similar builds in later days.
