Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 6

Posted by ,

Poe Dameron's T-70 X-wing Starfighter emerged yesterday. Another new item associated with the Resistance therefore seems very likely today and many potential options are available.

Find out what arrives on day six after the break...

The distinctive Resistance Transport has not appeared in an Advent Calendar before and this vehicle looks splendid. I like the combination of light bluish grey and blue elements which correspond with the source material and this shaping is also reasonable, featuring an enormous laser cannon towards one end while the other incorporates an attractive cockpit.

However, the stabilising fins which should be placed above both the laser cannon and the cockpit have been completely omitted. That does detract from its appearance in my opinion, although I appreciate the varying textures and the trans-orange engines look superb. Ideally, these would have been trans-pink but I am quite satisfied with this design and am pleased to receive something entirely new.

Overall - 4.0 - This model seems relatively detailed and is definitely recognisable, although I think certain areas could have been improved.

The design looks great, but I fail to see kids getting any play value out of this one.

Battle of the Licensed Advent Calendars continues. Day 6 produces another buildable ship in the form of the Resistance Transport. The author rightfully notes that certain features have not been represented. That said, the design is respectable and SW fans receive a good, albeit middle-of-the-pack, offering.

On the flip side, the fallout of Day 5's massacre on the HP circuit left their fans with a great deal of uncertainty heading into Day 6. However, behind Door 6 stood a magnificent Prof McG- a figure that many casual HP LEGO fans haven't had the luxury of owning. For these reasons, and based on respective scores, a shy point goes to HP. The score is now:

HP- 4
SW- 2

To be continued...

I normally like to try and build these without looking to see what it is or how to build it. I got 100% with yesterday's X-wing, but had absolutely zero idea how to connect this little bag of parts to make anything resembling something from the SW universe.

By in Germany,

Bonus fun feature: It can also be easily rebuilt into a mini version of the Resistance Transport Pod.

I mean it is a little lacking without the fins, but I instantly knew what it was when I saw the picture.

When I opened the door, my first thought was that this might be a Resistance Ski Speeder. Building it, I realised what it was, but now I want a Ski Speeder in this calendar.

I got a spare piece with mine, not sure what it's called but it was a 1x2 light gray tile with texture on it. I put it on top of the ship but I guess it was just a mistaken inclusion?

I was baffled by that piece too but you can barely make out from the drawing that it goes on the back.

By in Ireland,

I had no idea what it was I was building and I had to refer to Brickset to find out so thank you Brickset! What is particularly galling is that I have its larger companion and was still none the wiser. (Me slow!)

I received the same piece as you so I placed it on the back!

Would be nice to see a picture of the instruction as well (if possible).

My kid threw the stormtrooper on the studs and started flying him around the room. He's 5 though

It's a hoverboard! Of course, I see it now, that's genius. Never doubt the young ones.
