Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 7
Posted by CapnRex101,
Two vehicles belonging to the Resistance have emerged during the last couple of days. I think another addition to this selection seems rather likely today.
Let's open door number seven and find out...
Chewbacca has now appeared in more Star Wars Advent Calendars than any other named character and this minifigure looks marvellous. Dark brown and medium nougat shades replicate the Wookiee's thick hair and I like the metallic silver bandoleer which crosses both sides of the torso. In addition, the eyes and teeth are beautifully highlighted.
The minifigure includes a dark orange turkey leg, although the accompanying campfire suggests that this may be intended to represent an unfortunate porg. Fortunately, the designer chose to provide the turkey leg with a longer bone instead of the shorter alternative piece, thereby enabling Chewbacca to hold the accessory comfortably.
Overall - 4.0 - Chewbacca is relatively common across the whole Star Wars theme but the minifigure looks great and I appreciate his accessories which are slightly unusual.

Best gift so far from the advent, though not as good as the 2016 snow Chewbacca which is the best variant of Chewwy.
If I don't have a Porg during the 18 days then I'll know what happened to it.
4.0 points? Is that some kind of april fools joke? Another Chewie to put to all of the Batmen and Emmets and R2s. Boring as hell.
Welp, today I learned there are two different turkey legs
Useless fig for my collection as I already have several....at least make him holiday themed!

Doesn't mean he isn't a desirable character and a great minifig
This version of Chewbacca is new for me, so I'm happy with today's minifigure.
@The_Toniboeh
Thank you! I feel exactly the same way, especially about Spider-Man or Batman. Kids, who are the main target audience for LEGO, don’t collect every single new set, and so they don’t have 37 Spider-Man minifigures, they have one or two. And just because the figure is common doesn’t mean it isn’t excellent.
And there's me delighted with my first fever Chewbacca minifigure when I purchased the UCS Millennium Falcon earlier in the week-sigh.......
Only my second new-style Chewie, so I'm glad to have him. Little campfire is nice too.
Reminiscent of the scene from TLJ where Chewie is about to munch on roasted Porg when the other Porgs start whimpering. lol
You're saying Chewbacca has appeared more times in an advent calendar than a stormtrooper? Capn, are you sure?
@shirhac - You and I may have this minifigure already, in which case it is of limited interest, but its broader appeal must be taken into consideration when giving scores.
@LuvsLEGO_Cool_J - I did mention 'named characters' so generic Stormtroopers or Clone Troopers are excluded.
Actually there are 3 kinds of turkey legs.
My extra Chewbaccas I just use as generic wookies.
This is the third Chewie in a calendar, right? If so, he won't be the sole record holder for long.
Battle of the Licensed Advent Calendars continues. After HP gained some ground with yesterday’s entry, a “slippery table” emerged today. It’s a well designed table that serves a function and provides a foundation for a potential Great Hall scene, an iconic venue for a Hogwarts Christmas.
On the flip side, SW graced us with a Chewbacca minifig with turkey-porg leg. While the figure has been around before it’s still an impressive one and adding to a Wookie army might be a great use for the fig.
If what goes around, comes around, then where HP took a shy point on Day 6, SW takes a shy point back today. The race remains close and the score is now:
HP- 4
SW- 3
To be continued...
I'm a bit confused by all the animosity towards this figure.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the front of the box generally shows everything that's coming in the calender (but not when) so there should be no real surprise when a certain figure turns up?
If what's in the calender isn't what's wanted, why but it?
