CapnRex101 reviewed the 3306-piece set a couple of weeks ago and concluded that "it captures the crucial combination of menace and elegance which distinguishes this celebrated Batmobile from others"

By in Belgium,

And the site has crashed. Thanks again, Lego, for nothing.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

@z@z Crash!!! @£@z@z

Gravatar
By in Estonia,

As expected. identity.lego.com has probably crashed, can't log back in. "Internal Server Error" etc...

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Damn, their infrastructure sucks so much :( It’s so frustrating to be awake for nothing...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I nearly fell off my chair when it came live to buy (I was expecting midnight) But managed to get one bought before the website crashed.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I was on the site looking at non-Batmobile stuff and it just fell to pieces 15 mins ago, same errors as the commentators above.

Feel sorry for the fans wanting to get the set and associated offers, I'd be fuming.

I genuinely don't know of another online retailer who's website fails so regularly.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

F+++ing Lego website FFS

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

You couldn't have kept to yourself for just a little while could you ??????

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

...and crash! As expected.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It's just sprung into life with Friday's 30% deals

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Possibly for you, but I can’t even sign in!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Me neither - I ether get an "Internal Server Error", or it seems to work but then shows that I'm not signed in. Adding the Batmobile to the bag just results in the usual "an unexpected error has occurred". Not happy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So guys, is the mini version batmobile going to be ever available separately? Have they ever made GWP available separately? I like it so much and I don't have the money and space for the collectors edition one....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not great.. the item is there.. cannot sign in, cannot complete order..

Edit: yes it worked!! Sorry Brickset, I clicked your affiliate link for this, but if it worked or not I don’t know... so many times trying and trying!

Gravatar
By in Estonia,

Success!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That’s a good question - non specific GWPs have turned up, the pods and Chinese New Year animals come to mind, and certain polybags have also popped up. This is quite large and seems to be specific in the way of the limited Christmas ones though, so probably not. I”d have thought that if it did reappear it would be a purchase with VIP points, but you never know....

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Lego has such success with its websites.

Aren't we just thrilled they now own Bricklink?

Gravatar
By in Estonia,

I'm sure most of us would forgive LEGO all this fuss if only they made the Winter Village X-Wing (or whatever it's called, the 2019 employee Christmas present) available for purchase at shop.lego.com, instead of eBay...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’ve managed to order one. Free mini Batmobile, Christmas tree and PAB order too

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't wait to get the Batmobile GWP without getting the UCS Batmobile!
@holdre007 well why not work for LEGO then ;)
Can't wait to get all these!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Any other Americans having issues with the LEGO website while trying to buy this?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Sorry an unexpected error occured...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dear TLG,

Every penny spent on buying BrickLink apparently should have gone to server space and IT support. Nice Black Friday fail...again.

Gravatar
By in United States,

How many time can an "unexpected error" occur before it should no longer be unexpected?

Gravatar
By in Iraq,

A good buddy of mine was able to place his 4 minutes before live time and I followed his lead and had easy success. After it hit midnight the site went crazy!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I jumped on it pretty quick and preordered with no issues.

From the sounds of it, I got extremely lucky.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

It's still not working...

Update: I have one in my bag now, most of the time, but I cannot pay for it. I give up for now and try again in two hours or so. I'm sure it'll be gone by then, but this is ridiculous. Good thing is that I fully expected this to happen, so it's more funny than disappointing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It took a good 45 minutes of hair pulling but I eventually got it to go through...

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Got them at the LCS in Singapore. Only 30 copies of the mini sets to give away. No online pre-orders allowed. Need to go down personally to collect. Should be gone by now. ^^

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The UK S@H site finally pulled its act together about 25 mins after 12, the email arrived another 20 mins later - all the usual problems of not being able to log in, then not being able to add to basket, then the checkout failed....the same every sale time every year.

I wonder if despite all the issues as we mostly persevere through the website issues to get the new set(s) at the time, if when Lego crunch the data the drop rate is low enough to outweigh the cost of fixing it...hmmm

Gravatar
By in United States,

It went live 10 minutes before midnight in the US, and luckily my order went through just 5 minutes before midnight which is when the site collapsed. I'm glad I wasn't trying to get one of the Black Friday doorbusters! The Christmas tree promo wasn't added to my cart since I ordered before midnight but hopefully I'll be able to pick it up at another point during the weekend.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Ordered it 10 min before midnight as well, just before chaos struck. Hope to get another one at the Lego store @ Amsterdam this afternoon. guess that will be chaos too..

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Should have checked the website just before midnight as other folks here :/ Did not succeed after the midnight, only finally now after more than one hour of fighting. Fortunately both GWPs were still available.

Gravatar
By in France,

Website seems to be fully back and working.
I manage to place an order smoothly when 1 hour ago it was a battle at each page.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

At Lego Birmingham store no queue yet (except me)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Finally managed to get it into my cart a couple of hours ago, couldn't manage to check out, just tried again and the GWP mini batmobile is gone :-(

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks like the GWP BA T-Mobile has run out. Already? Meh.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yes GWP gone.. any backorder now shipping on the 10th December doesn’t include the GWP Batmobile!

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Oh, lucky me :) Despite what I said above I gave it a few more tries and was finally able to order at around 7:30. Confirmation mail lists both GWPs. I am sorry for anyone who failed to get it!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

What?! The worst promotional action ever. No way that I will buy it without small batmobile.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Loads of GWP 40433 now available on eBay for £60-75.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ Snap them up.. LEGO collectible for the future..

Gravatar
By in Poland,

So... I wanted to buy that and... Won't. No free batmobile after less than 10 hours of promo? Bad joke.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^^ selling one?

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I'm so frustrated that I decided:
1. Not buying directly from Lgeo - it's too nervous experience, and a lot of sets are cheaper if you wait a few months.
2. Not buying 76139 unless it will be available at least 30% cheaper.
Good work Lego, fantastic marketing work - two effects with one action!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Due to the server errors I didn't manage to buy the Batmobile. :( Now the exclusive bonus set is not available anymore. :(

Gravatar
By in Germany,

There should be an advantage to be a VIP card holder, but last night it was disadvantageous as the name / identity server crashed and to place an order as VIP was almost impossible. Almost, as after roughly 45 minutes I finally got it, inkl. the bonus. Reading the above, lucky me!
Anyway, a company like Lego should be prepared. Amazon with trillions of customers has no such issues. Sorry for those who didn't succeed.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@yuffie .. not selling, just buying them up..

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

@Michael_Wiese in all fairness, Amazon built up a sophisticated server infrastructure themselves because of its billions/millions of customers. Having said that, they offer it to other companies as well, so Lego could look into that maybe

Gravatar
By in United States,

I started my order of the Batmobile at 11:56pm, tried for an hour, and it's now 5:30am and I STILL can't get my order to go through! This is beyond frustrating! I understand that this isn't the place to complain, but I thought it would be useful for other users to know that the American site still isn't working.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Was going to my LEGO store early today for a batmobile, but saw it available online at 4:30est, got my order in with the two GWPs, try now GWPs still available

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

@meliander - It is unlikely that it ever will, as it's branded as a Limited Edition model. However, they may make a similar model in the future.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Brickset is it worth doing a quick survey of Lego.com experience ? I have to say I seem to have been oblivious and lucky. I didn't even think of buying anything at midnight when I woke up this am I thought I might try to wait until the 2nd for the Minifigure but as there was 30% of something else bought today...... had a failure but lucky as I had not yet added my Voucher code, tried again, vouchers added (or taken away) paypal, order placed. Stressful but successful. It looks like a lot of people are having issues all over, and I have had lots of failures previously, promotions not yet live at 7am etc. Is it something we can feed back to TLG.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I think that you should ask Lego about this SCANDALOUS promotional action. We, your readers, deserve it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Got mine at a real shop. Didn’t bother with online - it’s pants at the best of times so i avoided the stress above.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Am going to wait til after Christmas....and justify it as a late birthday present to myself :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

U.S. site was down at midnight EST but was able to get some promos this morning and I was even able to use my VIP rewards

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

No UCS-BM-1989 available anymore in NL (within 10hrs since launch),
and free mini-BM seems not to be included with post-shipping.

Really really REALLY disappointed!!
This sucks!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I admit I'm lucky, work is close to Leicester Square store. Arrived with staff saying plenty in stock - got mini batmobile, Christmas tree, Santa polybag, Brick Friday er, brick and some VIP wrapping paper stuff as GWPs too! I would recommend calling now before making the journey if you are thinking about it, despite their claims there were a LOT of people wandering around with the UCS version tucked under their arms when I was there this morning..

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Placed my order at 7am GMT got an email, 10 mins later saying out of stock but delivered in 2 weeks time, hope I get the mini batmobile and Xmas tree or I’m going to feel a little let down, was on the site at 11.55 pm and completely crashed, Lego knew this was going to be a massive hit so why weren’t they better prepared. I will be writing a massive complaint if I don’t get my freebies.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's after 8am and the US site is still not working for me. How hard is it to get the website running? I'm no IT, so I honestly don't know.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If you are near a Lego store, that is now the best way to get the Batmobile 76139 and the GWP 40433

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Couldn’t order last night due to the site issues, so tried again at 0900 and successfully ordered with both gwp showing on the order confirmation page, but on the subsequent email confirmation and linked order status page the mini Batmobile has disappeared!
Can you imagine if this happened in the physical store, ie you have the gwp in your cart, pay for it at the till and then the salesperson just doesn’t put it in the bag?
I am extremely disappointed, and have emailed Lego CS as such. I’ll be cancelling the order if the gwp isn’t reinstated.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

In Canada lego.com was online at 12 Midnight Eastern
It Took 12 minutes to Complete my order.
PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE
I had to wait upwards of 60 Seconds for each screen to Advance to the next page.
Your information is not lost, and is in a Que.
My order went through and completed after about 12 Minutes.
DO NOT GO BACK TO THE PREVIOUS PAGE after each KEY ENTER
This the Process I Use On Every Special Release Event.
Good Luck

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I’ll get it, but Lego.com is having a few issues (as mentioned before) and my nearest Lego store is six hours away in Sydney. I just hope it isn’t sold out.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@YendorLego I had a much different experience! I was online just before midnight, and as soon as the batmobile was available I tried adding one to my cart, no luck, same error as everyone else. Tried sooooooo many more times, nothing. Gave up, went and did other things. Tried again about 90 min later, actually got into the checkout process but couldn't get past the address confirmation. Tried for about 10 more minutes, and finally got through, with my GWP's. Interesting how we had two different experiences! I'll have to try keying Enter next time. Are you in the East or West? I wonder if we were hitting different servers...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Haha and I didn't realize until about step 3 of checkout that I had 2 batmobiles in my cart...but I didn't want to edit the cart because it took me so many tries to get that far, so I just bought both. Ridiculous process, and I'm shocked that Lego hasn't had enough black friday events .

Gravatar
By in United States,

I woke up today at around 10 AM est. in cozumel Mexico aboard the MSC Meraviglia enduring my 7 day cruise and read some of these "HORROR" stories.......... I got some breakfast at a 5 star restaurant and then took a dip in the hot tub for a bit. I then signed onto the Lego online shop and purchased the Batmobile and got the mini batmobile as well as the Xmas tree FREE. Oh yeah I used $250 in VIP vouchers so I literally payed $0 for it as they do not charge tax on VIP dollars spend AND I got free shipping................. so yeah that's my horror story. One more thing while you guys were scrambling at your computers/phones at midnight last night I was out partying having the time of my life!!! LOLOLOL All true BTW :) moral of the story CHILL OUT!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

After getting back into LEGO and having all the fun of reliving my favorite childhood toy I have to say the only real (and massive) disappointment has been LEGO.com. I have had orders cancelled out of the blue, shipments claim errors with shipping address where all other orders are just fine, payment issues with backordered items through paypal, some pretty uninformed customer service, and some slow page loading among other things. THEN THIS! Wow! Over an hour to place my order. It did go through, but MAN do they have some work to do with their online site! BrickLink watch out!

Gravatar
By in United States,

So I guess the mini-Batmobile GWP was so limited that it couldn't even handle a day's worth of orders for the larger UCS set? I finally got on this evening to buy the UCS set and get the GWP and all that it will add to my cart is the free Xmas tree. Bummer. Oh well, didn't really want to the UCS set this moment, was only going to do it due to the GWP. *shrug*

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just happened to be on the site before midnight on the 28th and it went live a few minutes before. Thankfully got everything order before the site apparently got bogged down.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@deejdave , You have your priorities right! I'll be on that ship on January, yacht club. Been on Seaside and Belissima before.

Glad you're enjoying it!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Decided that, regarding special/exclusive items, I'll be at my closest LEGO brand store by the time they open. It is the only way I know of to ensure my order goes through and avoid GWPs being depleted.

There are reports that the site wasn't working by 8am in the U.S.

I already had by Batmobile and GWPs (40433, 40338, Mini Surfer Van, and VIP stationery gift set) by 7:30 (store opened at 7am for Black Friday).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can you buy the mini Batmobile?
I'd rather get the smaller version than the large one.
Shelf space and all ...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Every body needs to now what really means GWP Gone Without Purchase.

They should stop saying "play well" as part of your slogan. If TLG care about their customers, they would not release a high consumption product for a black Friday.
TLG are not prepared or aware of the demands or care of their customers.

I'm so frustrated that I decided Not buying directly from Lego any more.
lot of sets are cheaper in other stores.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

Come on, I don't want this huge thing! Looks gorgeous, but it is just too darn big. Why not make it, let's say, as big as the Aston Martin or the Mustang? As it is, I just want the 40433, but would have to pay a fortune on Ebay. So, no.

This is frustrating.

@meliander :
The most significant one I know of is the AT-DP polybag, which was originally a GWP with _any_ SW purchase (no spending threshold), and sold out in less than three days of a 3-4 week promotion. It showed up again later as a seasonal polybag, I believe at Target (no idea if it was Easter, Halloween, or Christmas). Now you can buy them super cheap on Bricklink. I think there have been others that were LEGO Brand Retail GWPs that just ended up being sold as regular sets at LEGOLAND stores. Generally speaking, though, they're one-and-done offers. For something like this Batmobile set, I highly doubt it will just pop up again unless they get so much negative feedback over this that they do it to appease the angry mob.

@holdre007 :
That one does seem to be aimed squarely at the pants of all the people who complained so much about the regional exclusives that they had to start making them available worldwide. I've got mixed feelings about that one. If any of the minifigs have exclusive Christmas print, I'm going to be very upset. It sounds like the pilot has a standard outfit, though it may be new deco. No idea about the astromech, and I can't tell what Santa Yoda's print is (the white hands has me hoping it's just the generic Santa Claus torso they've got at Build-A-Minifig this year).

@Dwelve , GoldenNinja3000, kinzz:
For those who ordered before the promos officially kicked in, it'd be interesting to hear if either of them showed up in your bag when placing the order, if they were later added to the order sometime prior to shipment, or if you just missed out on one or both. It's also possible that if you contacted them about it early enough, they might have been able to manually add any missing items to your order.

@kfr :
In all unfairness, I also just read an article about how terrible a company they are to work for, at least at the warehouse level. They even got the state of Indiana to brush off an employee death as being 100% the employee's fault when Indiana was still in the running for HQ2. You're lucky if you get out with nothing worse than being fired for being unable to keep up with their excessively high minimum transaction thresholds.

@jdm :
"it’s pants at the best of times" @CCS :
I'm a bit miffed about the Brick Friday brick and Black Friday minifig exclusives, neither of which is available in the Land of Black Friday. Best guess is they whipped up those promos to help build up the concept of buying with reckless abandon on Black Friday, a day which is quintessentially tied to a uniquely American holiday. Here, there's no such need.

@BaronVonVaderham :
I had one instance where the LEGO Store employee forgot to ring up the GWP near the end of the promotion period and I didn't realize it until I was halfway home (called and asked them if they could hold a copy until the next time I visited). I also had one time when I got shorted a pack of those TLM2 trading cards, and even though I mentioned it the next time I shopped there, I got home and found exactly how many my second purchase qualified for. So, all told, I'm still missing just that one pack of cards.

@deejdave :
Careful with the bragging, there. People who post their travel itineraries online risk having their homes broken into when they're away.

@Abelinkin :
Regarding the shipping address issues, do you place all orders using the same payment method? I've bought online by card, and also by Paypal, and I know that Paypal often feeds the merchant your address. I _also_ noticed that Paypal somehow managed to collect multiple slightly

By in United States,

For myself, I drove around Somerset Mall for about ten minutes trying to find a parking space before realizing that my best chance was to head up to the roof (rich people don't even like to park on the second and third decks, much less the roof). I waded through a sea of people who seemed oblivious to the fact that they weren't the only people in the mall, both on the way in and out. I couldn't go in for opening, so I missed out on the mini surfer van, and I have no idea if I got yet another set of wrapping paper, but there was so much demand for the Batmobiles that they had them staged by the checkout. As soon as someone bought one, they'd bring another out from stock to replace it. Got a second tree, too.
