Review: iDisplayIt acrylic display cases
Posted by Huw,
iDisplayIt is a UK-based company that manufactures a very large range of acrylic display cases for virtually every LEGO set you'd want to put on show.
We reviewed one of the largest, for the UCS Millennium Falcon, a while ago. This time I'm taking a look at a smaller, and more affordable one, for Architecture Skyline 21043 San Francisco.
The case comes flat-packed and requires assembly. The kit consists of six laser cut 3mm acrylic sheets which are shipped with their protective backing sheets in place to prevent damage in transit, plus 8 fixings to hold the sides together.
The base is black, and slightly larger than the base of the model, to ensure it doesn't look cramped inside.
The bottoms of the sides have protrusions that fit into the slots on the base to keep it in place.
To assemble the case, small plastic inserts are fitted into cutouts in the side panels, into which the front and back panels are screwed. An Allen key is provided so you won't need to hunt round for one.
Once the sides are joined together the top is simply placed on top. On larger cases it is also attached using screws but on this smaller case it just rests on top, which is fine because it's a tight fit and doesn't move about.
It's a difficult thing to photograph against a white background!
This particular case costs £22.50. Prices very according to their size, of course, so for the largest sets you can be looking at upwards of £200. However they are very well made and if you're looking for a means of showing off your favourite sets while keeping them dust-free they are just the job.
One scenario I can see this particular one being useful is in an open-plan office environment: you could show your love for LEGO and architecture while keeping fingers and dust off your beloved model!
Check out the entire range of cases at iDisplayIt.co.uk and at the US distributor kingdombricksupply.com.
Thanks to Steve at iDisplayIt for sending the case for review. All opinions expressed are my own.

First!
Looks good! Still on the fence for a Saturn V one.
First comment! (Well when I wrote it anyway) Also, these do look really cool.
@Huw How do these compare to the Wicked brick display cases?
Do they have a US distributor? I'd like to get some for these smaller sets, but shipping is such a pain.
These look great for minifigure display as well as MOC.
^^ Amen, @moop2000. The UK has two quality sources for Lego display cases, but the USA has jack squat! Any enterprising Lego enthusiast State-side want to start a new business for their fellow American fans?
@Lordmoral I've got 2 of their minifigure display cases love them. I'm looking to pick a few more up soon.
They advertise as holding 32 (8 per step) but I've got 40 (10 per step) and they don't look cramped or anything.
Price is a little steep but top quality from my experience. Great for keeping dust and little fingers off, haha.
^ Thanks for the feedback.
Looks cool. I’d better look into their stock.
I have purchased two of the minifigure display cases which come with little bleachers to help display the figures. I was well impressed with the design and how nicely they went together. I have two with white bleachers they do come in black too! I’m thinking of getting a couple of other display cases they do for some of my bigger sets so I can sit them on top of each other - they are fantastic also for when you have a large display on like the Disney castle and lots of air space next to it. You can use them in top of each other to display more.
These look good, I'd really like one for the Apollo Lunar Lander but they don't seem to have that in their site.
The ones for the Saturn V must be pretty big!
Yes, there is a US distributor: https://shop.kingdombricksupply.com/
Thanks Huw!
However, I just use baseplates, as I already have them.

Hello! There actually is! We are the US distributor for IDisplayIt. We maintain the same catalog and you can check it out here: https://shop.kingdombricksupply.com/
For those looking for items listed as coming soon, we'll be receiving a shipment within a couple weeks.
Thanks!
Yikes, some of these cases cost almost the price of the set its meant to hold. Sorry but these are drastically over priced for what they are, I'll admit I don't know how much these cost to make but surely not that much id imagine.
The Dinosaur Fossils set costs £54.99 but if you want to case it why not spend another £54 on a case, there are surely some better options that are cheaper than these.
Where is the new modular??? ??????
Thanks @Huw and @KingdomBrickSupply! That is great news. I will definitely check out your site. Wallet, don't fail me now!
Probably top quality products, but I want to buy one small case for one of my creations made in architecture style and for a £19.20 case the shipping is £60 to my country inside EU.
It looks lovely! I tend to go in and fiddle about with minifigs for my displays to change 'em up every few weeks so it's not for me, but very handy for professional displays
They are very nice cases but the shipping costs are beyond ridiculous even for inside the EU. Which is why I've skipped them thus far.
I'm not spending on a case nearly half of what the set costs due to unreasonable shipping costs.
