My dream LEGO Star Wars Battle Pack

Posted by ,

38 different Star Wars Battle Packs have been produced since 2007, featuring an extraordinary selection of minifigures from numerous popular factions. However, many further characters with army-building potential remain absent.

MandRproductions' unwavering campaign for LEGO to produce an appealing 501st Clone Trooper Battle Pack has gathered notable momentum. Furthermore, this has inspired me to consider which four minifigures would appear in my dream Star Wars Battle Pack.

What factors create successful Battle Packs?

LEGO has released numerous excellent Battle Packs and the reasons for their popularity are equally diverse. For example, 8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack is probably among the most outstanding Battle Packs because the set provided an excellent collection of Clone Troopers for army building. However, 75167 Bounty Hunter Speeder Bike Battle Pack exhibits the notable importance of character variation and exclusive minifigures.

What would be my perfect Battle Pack?

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith introduces an enormous array of different Clone Troopers, occupying various roles within the army and belonging to separate legions. I think a Battle Pack which includes four of those troopers would be extremely interesting, providing adequate variation while also offering excellent potential for building an army.

The most recognisable of those Clone Trooper units is probably the 501st Legion, especially following their remarkable prominence during Star Wars: The Clone Wars. One such trooper would therefore be appropriate in this pack, updating the previous minifigures which appeared in 75002 AT-RT and 75004 Z-95 Headhunter.

Commander Bly's 327th Star Corps also appear memorably during Revenge of the Sith, executing Aayla Secura on Felucia. 7655 Clone Troopers Battle Pack was released in 2007 and included one member of this division, although an entirely new design would be greatly appreciated and could be provided alongside other troopers from Episode III.

7655 Clone Troopers Battle Pack included a Clone Shock Trooper too. These distinctive soldiers have been absent from subsequent Battle Packs though and remain exceptionally popular, hence I would be pleased to see them in another small set for army building. Much like the aforementioned 501st Legion, two Shock Troopers were found in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars range but there is potential to improve upon those minifigures.

One member of the 21st Nova Corps, alternatively known as the Galactic Marines, would also appear in my perfect Battle Pack. I love their unique armour and colour scheme which separates the Galactic Marines from other Clone Troopers and incorporates certain features of Imperial Snowtroopers. Their leader, Commander Bacara, could subsequently appear in a UT-AT set which would complement this Battle Pack.

These four troopers are thematically connected by their involvement in Order 66 and I could envisage LEGO producing an Order 66 Battle Pack. However, I anticipate Clone Trooper Specialists Battle Pack would be the more probable name. This set would prove extremely popular in my opinion, appealing to those who enjoy assembling armies and those who collect exclusive characters. An accurate AT-RT or BARC Speeder would complete the pack nicely.

What would be your dream Star Wars Battle Pack and which minifigures would it contain? Let us know in the comments.

I would be happy with any clone battle packs

By in Belgium,

As an OT fan (though I do not hate the prequels or sequels), I don't care for Clone troopers much. As a result, I'd prefer a pack with Stormtroopers, Imperial officers, Scout Troopers, Mimban Troopers, TIE Fighter pilots, etc. Generic Rebel soldiers and officers would be nice, too.

By in United States,

I'd prefer a Scout Trooper battlepack. Whether it be just plainvanilla RotJ Scouts, or includes a spread of different deco patterns on the same armor style, I don't really care. Just Scout Troopers and a couple speederbikes.

Any clone battle pack that has four actual clone troopers (not 3 and then a random extra figure). Kinda sad that this is rare for battle packs

By in Canada,

I miss the days of generic trooper battle packs. Of the ones currently avaliable:

Inferno Squad: Great to get the figs but you don't need more than 1
Praetorian Guard: Same thing, you don't need more than 1
Sith Trooper: Great battle pack, but for forces that didn't get much screen time (I'll get like 2-3)
Mandalorian: Great figs but again they got very little if any screen time (I'll get like 2-3)

We need to see clone legion battlepacks where people will be buying them by the dozen again like the ones from years ago. And how about a droid one with like a spider droid 4 B1's 2B2's and maybe a variant of another droid (since they're cheaper to make than minifigures)

Also we could use things like an updated Imperial Troop Transport with 4 stormtroopers (dropship doesn't count due to the inflated price due to the han solo and shadow stormtrooper) Also there's tons of varients of Imperial troopers. Give us one with 2-3 stormtroopers, a scout trooper, and like a tie pilot.

And a rebel one with a fleet trooper, ground crew and a pilot. Even take a page out of the Friends book and have something in one of them be random (random of 4 pilot helmets maybe?)

Exactly. Battle packs are for building armies. If you look at 75206 one cannot buy this set more than once. No one needs so much Barriss Offee and Ki-Adi-Mundi.

I would love a 501st legion battle pack, with Rex, Fives, Echo, and a generic 501st trooper. Or even a 501st battle back with three generic troopers, and an unnamed blue ARC trooper (Fives).

My dream Battle Pack would be for my favorite companions in Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. Canderous Ordo, HK-47, Bastila Shan and Jolee Bindo. That being said, the spirit of Battle Packs should always be for army building and I would never expect Lego to release these characters in a Battle Pack. Sadly, I also seriously doubt these characters will ever be immortalized in minifigure form at all so it's a moot point anyway.

Purge trooper battle pack from the fallen order. Four figures all identical.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You hit the nail on the head my dude. As much as I would freaking love a 50`1st Battle Pack, I see the problem it would pose - it would be cheaper to amass large amounts of say, Fives, Tup, Hardcase, and Jesse, than it would to amass regular 501st troopers. Exclusive figs just don't suit the battle pack format, as much as I love the Bounty Hunter pack.

But this concept right here, of including completely different Clone divisions in the same pack, sounds super convenient, and would massively reduce the retail value of the figs you actually want to mass-collect.

I could see it applied to other factions, like a Rebel pack with a Fleet Trooper, Hoth Trooper, Endor Trooper, and Scarif Trooper, or an Imperial pack with a Stormtrooper, Snowtrooper, Scout Trooper, and Shoretrooper

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have 2 ideas, but would probably be unpopular. First is a from Solo, a Mimban Troopers battle pack with 2 Mimban stormtroopers and 2 Mudtroopers. Build could be a trench build similar to the build in 75202 Defense of Crait with a cannon. Second, from Rogue One, s Scarif Troopers battle pack with 2 Shoretroopers, 1 Death Trooper, 1 Stormtrooper. Build could be a master switch station with turret and an orange imperial crate.

By in Puerto Rico,

I would buy at least x4 of that pack but I would also add that other BP should be:
-Fallen Order Imperial BP (x2 Purge Troopers with melee weapons, x1 Flame Trooper, x1 Heavy Trooper (Rocket launcher or a Machine Gun);
-Fallen Order Partisan BP (x1 Wookie, x1 Female soldier, x1 Male soldier, x1 alien);
-Imperial Mandalorian BP (x1 Flame Trooper, x2 Stormtroopers, x1 Death Trooper).

Galactic Marines are long overdue in Lego. I think a 501st Battlepack would be neat but I am honestly a little sick of hearing about it ever since Mand's campaign started. But we have had ZERO Galactic Marines in all of Lego's Star Wars run so I think they would look great in a pack.

Also... Gungan soldier pack. Would be an interesting pack for the Phantom Menace.

Now outside of the Prequel Films, what else has potential? I think a Mimban Stormtrooper pack would be great. I know Solo wasn't the biggest hit in Star Wars films, but I think those muddy and battered soldiers and stormtroopers look awesome and I would love to get more of them. Rebels are overdue for another Rebel Marine (is that what the troops in the Tantive IV are called?) pack. Or maybe a Cantina Pack, not so much "battle" but include something like a few Bith and an Ithorian to get our aliens out there easier.

Sequel trilogy... hmmmm. We have had enough stormtrooper packs from there to satiate my desires, but I wouldn't mind one more Resistance trooper pack. After that Resistance pack... I wouldn't mind not seeing anything from the ST in battlepack form for several years. On the TV side I wouldn't mind seeing a battered Stormtrooper legion from The Mandalorian.

Now if we dive into Legends... lets get a Yuuzhan Vong pack out there. Those would look super unique. Or something like the silver KOTOR Sith Troopers.

By in Canada,

It may break the rules as it consists of 5 troopers, but Domino Squad would be my perfect ballet pack. Droidbait and Cutup would appear in standard Phase l Clone armour with standard blasters, Hevy would be similar but include a brick-built Z-6 rotary cannon, and Echo and Fives could appear in their Arc Trooper gear. Another one I’d like would be Delta Squad from the Star Wars: Republic Commando video game, as the Clone Commando has never appeared in minifigure form.

I would love a battle pack with 4 clones from each legion/regiment/battalion 104th,187th,212th,501st. It would include both phase 1 & 2 helmets. I would prefer blasters, but since I’ve been purchasing brickarms weapons I don’t care as much. I would definitely buy 10-20 of these

It would be cool to have a jedi battle pack with random jedi from the arena battle in AoTC or tatoine inhabitants with the Lars homestead (Owen and Beru) or the imperial spy in Mos Eisley and cantina patrons

Gravatar
By in United States,

A true Republic Commando pack would be stellar, be it Delta or Omega Squad. I'd like to see a Jedi battle pack as well. Two Knights, one Master, and one Padawan.

I agree with @Thego76 and @JaredHinton, too. Cantina aliens or an Ewok pack would be fun!

Great and thought-provoking article to start off my Sunday!

Only clones? Well, true to your name I guess :)
I'd like to have a no similar to the previous clone and jedi, true these are not for army building but a great way to get interesting minifigs at a good price.
Maybe some tuskens? Perhaps not just man, but women and children too?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want a 212th with 2 212th troopers, 1 212th airborne trooper, and a Phase II Commander Cody. I know we got one a while back but they’re probably my favorite clone battalion.

By in Canada,

Aside from the above I would enjoy the following:

Wookie Warrior Battle Pack. Includes RotS Wookie Warrior x2, Heavy Gunner Wookie Warrior, Tarfful leader of the Wookies and a buildable fly-creature thing to ride on.

Ewok Battle Pack. Featuring Teebo, Princess Kneesa, Widdle Warrick Wicket's Brother and two Generic Ewok Glider Pilots with buildable Gliders.

Separatist Specialists Battle Pack. Includes two Commando Droids, two Aqua Droids a Destroyer Droid and a Spider Assassin Droid. (No B1s allowed.)

Senate Guardians Battle Pack. Includes two Senate Guards from the Sequel Trilogy. A Senate Commando, buildable Air Speeder and Chancellor Palpatine. Include bonus parts to make the Senate Guards into Royal Guards and it would be pretty impressive and unique. We had the Senate Commandos before, but they were Clone Wars inspired and I'd like to see an update with realistic prints for the Prequel Trilogy.

By in United States,

Most of the time, Lego releases battle packs in pairs (e.g. The Mandalorian BP and the Sith Troopers BP). I think that for each new wave, one battle pack should be designed for army-building, with unnamed, desirable soldiers. The other should be more of a minifigure pack, following after the exceptional Bounty Hunter BP. Since we can't get a Star Wars CMF series, battle packs are the best way for Lego to produce desire characters at a low cost.

I would like to see simultaneous releases, of Battle Packs of opposing factions, again. Any Clone Trooper variant Battle Pack will do, Phase I and Phase II armor. A Delta Squad Battle Pack would be great for the exclusive minifigures.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

I'd like a pure army-building battle pack.
So 4 similar figures instead of the mix they're doing nowadays.
I'd like to see those with Imperial Stormtroopers, Sith Stormtroopers, Separatist droids (they could bump it to 8 in this one), and Republic clones. Maybe also one with Naboo Royal Guards for fans of the prequels (all 3 of them :P).

I don't think LEGO should do identifiable battle packs. And definitely no 501st battle pack (they won't anyway, specially after that whiny YouTube brat had his child viewers spamming LEGO's social platforms with silly comments about it).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gungans, Ewoks, Cantina, Rebel pilots with individual helmet decorations, Phase 2 Clone Troopers, Jabba's minions- anyone from his palace we don't already have, Bespin- two Bespin Guards and two Ugnaughts.

I’ll take any battle pack with just troopers. No officers in dark suits who never even appeared on the battle field. No jet pack whatevers or flame this or that. Just grunts. And sargeants. And lots of em. Can you skip the vehicle and put in a whole squad? A Sargeant and 10 troopers. Please. Thank you!

Gravatar

A Battle Pack is meant for army building.
So, no individuals, no stud shooters and a usefull proportion of special and normal troopers.

Spot on, you’ve nailed 4 of my favourite figures in those 2 battlepack selections. A slight refinement would be either a Death trooper or Shoretrooper squad leader/captain in favour of the standard stormtrooper.

The orange crate is a winner for the additional build, even better if stuffed with short, medium and rifle blasters and thermal detonators! Not a stud shooter in sight.

By in Australia,

Maybe a Phoenix Squadron Battle Pack. With updated Season 3-4 Zeb, Sabine, Rex and Ezra. Another could come with the others,(Kanan, Hera, Chopper and possibly Ryder). Builds could be a sort of Speeder Bike or Phantom Microfighter.

Another Rogue One Pack might be cool, considering that we don’t see any sets from the film now. I can probably see a Saw Gerrera (with Saw, Moroff and two other rebels), Rogue One (Scarif Jyn, either Chirrut or Baze and two other rebels) or Scarif Troopers being successful.

Or a Gungan BP with updated Kakadu.

As for Clones, either a 501st or regular phase I or II would please me, and probably most other fans as well.

Sorry if this is too long. I just have so many ideas.

For each of the OT movies:

ANH: Cantina Patrons: Chalmun (Wookie owner of the Cantina), Bith Musician, Ithorian (Momaw Nadon) & Snivvian (Zutton/Snaggletooth) with a curved bar section

ESB: Cloud City Denizens: Two Bespin Guards (B&W duo), Ugnaught, & Cloud Car Pilot with modified red passenger transport

ROTJ: Ewoks v. Troops: A redo of 7139 Ewok Attack would real nice.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Your idea is terrible because all notable ROTS clone legions deserve their own separate packs instead of a weird Hasbro Actionfigure style 4-pack box like this.

It's sad that Lego removed clone troopers entirely from their line-up after 2014 despite their packs having been the most popular.

The worst offender is the absence of Phase 2 clone battlepacks. Only one exists, the orange 212th Attack Batallion, all others don't really count due to the camouflage color schemes or because it's the very first battlepack that uses a more than outdated helmet mold. The following are just the most notable legions and theoretically Lego should have done all of the legions from ROTS a long time ago already, not necessarily as battlepacks but in some form at the very least.

501st Legion Phase 2 version
plain white Phase 2 clone troopers (maybe with jetpacks inspired by Genndys Microseries and a Saleucami trooper/Captain Fordo)
Galactic Marine Nova Corps
Grey or dark red clone Legions Phase 2 from 2017s Battlefront 2
Geonosis Camouflage Phase 1 and ARF troopers (this is the worst because had Lego already did this but packed in the wrong helmets, preventing many from wanting to buy even one of those battlepacks)
Republic Commandos
ARC Troopers Phase 1 style

Phase 1 legions are all TCW styled so maybe do some of those. A set with 4 different versions would make the most sense here as those episodes showed different legions operating together more often.

Then there are major omissions from the new movies and the shows since 2012 of seemingly all the best designs.

Canto Bight Police
Mudtroopers and imperial officers with coats
Resistance Troopers Crait style
Shore Troopers with AT-ACT Driver
Range Troopers and more winter coat imperials
Resistance Troopers from episode 7 that were actually visible onscreen
Rebels from Rebels (that concept art inspired design with the shell helmets and goggles)
Imperial Rocket Troopers from Rebels
Clone Sandtroopers (Wolfpack from TCW season 6 finale)

And even if they think all the same white troopers are boring there certainly have been better choices than friggin Jawa & Tusken Raider, choices that have actually been involved in battles.

Gungans
Naboo Palace Guards
Senate Guards (with capes)
Geonosians
Ewoks
Wookiees
Aqua Droids
Magna Guards
Darth Mauls Mandalorian army
Mandalorians from Rebels or just invent some Mando color combos like Hasbro since they are all canon
Neimoidians (think of 1 or 2 Warriors like in the Vulture Droid 2014 set and 2 Controlship officers)
Umbarans

And don't forget the last few OT&PT options that have been kept exclusive and rare to bigger sets and could need an armybuilder

Battle Droids
Superbattledroids
Sandtroopers
Endor Rebels
Hoth Rebels

Think about non-canon color variants and weird alien/civilian type packs after all of these have been done.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Echoing another previous comment, in the name of army building, I too would like to see full squads of troopers with specialist roles in a battlepack rather than specific, named characters.

Obscurity, or limited screen time would not concern me, in fact it would be a positive bonus to see a unit of bomb disposal clones, engineers or whatever. A standard selection of 2 troopers, a section leader and commander, or similar, would be good to see replicated across a number of disciplines. Each having their own battlepack. Well, we are talking fantasy/wishlist territory aren’t we?

Also packs from prequel, OT, sequel or stand alone films (and video games) wouldn’t worry me. Although I think clone troopers from prequels have been under used and also exhibit the most scope for new novel battlepacks.

Some more random thoughts for one-off battle packs:

1. Cantina Battle Pack (Doctor Evazan, Panda Baba, Garindan, Hem Dazon)
2. Takodana Battle Pack (Sidon Ithano, Strono Tuggs, Bazine Netal, GA-97)
3. Clone Wars Crime Battle Pack (Cad Bane, Aurra Sing, Embo, Hondo Ohnaka)
4. Clone Commander Battle Pack (Rex, Cody, Fox, Wolffe)
5. Jedi Battle Pack (Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, Shaak Ti, Oppo Rancisis)
6. Nightsister Battle Pack (Asajj Ventress, Savage Opress, Mother Talzin, Nightsister)
8. Jabba's Palace Battle Pack (Bib Fortuna, EV9-D9, Rystall Sant, Gamorrean Guard)
9. Rebel Fleet Battle Pack (Admiral Ackbar, Nien Numb, Mon Mothma, Crix Madine)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think they should release Battle Packs with 1 of each trooper/soldier.
For example, an O/T pack of Original Stormie, A Hoth trooper, A Speeder biker and a Tie Pilot for the empire or a Rebel Fleet trooper, Hoth Soldier, Endor Soldier and Pilot for the rebels. If you put four different heads in each of the packs you could mix and match to make a whole load of variant troopers . They could do a similar thing with the CW era and ST era so that you could build an army of varying troopers to what ever size you wanted.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would love to see the random officer left out of the battlepacks. If we're going to get four minis and an OK small build at the approximately $15(US) price point, then they should be useful for force building.

I would love to see four regular troopers with a random pauldron for NCOs and Officers, with how to read them right on the sheet, with an OK small build, and keep it at $15. I would love to see this go a slight different way, and given how the CMFs have sold I think it will work. It's going to "break the rules", so bear with me.

An ACTUAL battle pack. Four regular Stormtroopers in every box. And they have a "blind" module. Lets say there are 12 per cycle. Four of those are fixed, the others are in, for lack of a better word, "blocks" which rotate on say a six or nine month period. So the four in "A" class are always going to be in the mix, "B" would be the premeire, limited edition ones, and "C" the first of the regular rotation. At the start of the second period (phase?) B goes out and D comes in. Each module has 2 minis and a micro build or two, or a minifig and a small build. Examples that come to mind are:
-Scouttrooper and a minfig scale speederbike and some terrain
-2 Stormtroopers with a second pauldron and equipment
-2 Snowtroopers and an E-web
-2 Imperial Guardsmen with... something?
-2 Rebel Commandos
-etc

And the blind modules would also be available on the side like a booster pack.

And maybe with every cycle there is the one "different box". Four Jawas and four to six droids. 4 rebel pilots, 4 astromechs and something like a tredwell. 5 clone troopers and an AT-RT. 6 B1 battledroids, a B2 heavy, and a STAP. Something like that.

But I'd be willing to spend 50 bucks on a Mos Eisley People Pack. Heck, I'd spend that for a pack with 20 stormtroopers, two e-webs, and a couple of pauldrons, so long as they had blasters rather than stud shooters.

I don't know, I'm dreaming out loud.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I dont think there should be four clones from different legions/battalions/corps in one set, when at most you see two fighting together. I would like one 327th, one 442nd (white with light green markings) and two plain phase II clones.

For any legion/battalion/corps, two regular clones and two special variants e.g. arf trooper or paratrooper will always work.

If they want to include a jedi, temple guards are somewhat massable. They could do a coruscant battle pack with one of those, two shocktroopers, and one of the arf troopers with sniffer dogs that hunted ahsoka.

Maybe they could do larger army building sets, like the city people packs. A few named characters wouldnt be minded in a set with like 12 generic ones.

I'm sure they can do both. It is only 4 more pieces. Recently they have been making lots of single molds that contain multiple pieces, like the clone commander gear in the first wave of clone wars. They could make one of those with 4 blasters and put it in every battle pack. that would only be 1 extra piece

Gravatar

@TheWackyWookie - I love the Phoenix Squadron idea . . . although I think that would be too character driven to technically be called a Battle Pack. But please more REBELS Sets!!! I'd love a new version of the Ghost!!!

And I too am hoping the new season of Clone Wars will come with some tie sets from Lego.

By in United States,

I'm honestly fine with most clones, rebel, imperial, etc. type of battlepack, the only issue I have is the inclusion of named figures or "specialized" figures. Including jedi and named characters in a battlepack is just a ridiculous and, in my opinion, unprofitable decision. I get why they want to do that, however, they can just throw them into other $10, $20+ sets. The purpose of battlepacks are to make an army for battle. And by including named characters defeats this purpose and removes the motivation to buy more than one. So the ideal and probably most profitable way to design the battlepack is to have 4 generic (but not like the rebels stormtrooper one...), maybe customizable, figures (e.g 2 plain clones & 2 501st clones) in a batlepack. If not then, 3 generic figures and one specialized and unnamed figure. But overall, this trend of having named figures and seemingly anti-army building extra figures, LEGO is really not doing a good job in satisfying consumers and making better profits.

By in Sweden,

I wish they did post-apocalyptic Lego Movie 2 battle packs. I need them scavenger warriors in greater quantities.

By in Canada,

If it's for army-building, I completely agree with CapnRex101's choices. If it were to be specific characters, I'd have to go with Delta Squad from Republic Commando.

I greatly prefer the design of phase I clones from AotC. There has been a severe shortage of those unfortunately.

Would be cool to see Boss, Fixer, Sev, and Scorch as minifigures.

This is a actually a really good idea for a Battle Pack, and imo is better than just purely a 501st battle pack

By in United Kingdom,

I know people love Army Builder Battle Packs but I love the ones that contain otherwise rare figures like the Jedi. A great compromise would be 3 army builder troops and a unique figure.

The Solo Imperial pack was great as the speeder was accurate to a vehicle from the movies

By in United Kingdom,

I know this is talking about Star Wars but Superhero battlepacks would be great, especially from the final battle in endgame. One consisting of 4 of Thanos's Soldiers and one of heros, a sorceror, a wakendan, a ravager and an asgardian. I saw a Moc of such a battlepack on instagram back when Endgame was released. These would have sold loads, I think at least as much as the average Star Wars battlepack.

By in United States,

I agree that clones and stormtroopers woukd be great. I would also like to see more packs that could fill in gaps. Like a droid pack of different astromech and protocol droids.

Ewok bp: teebo, a baby ewok and some random ewoks
Cantina bp: ponda baba, dr. Evazan, Zutton, hrcheck kal fas, Elis Helrot
Jabba bp: Tessek, yakface, Ananaman, Nikto, Klaatu
Jabba musicians: sy snootles, max rebo, droopy mccool, twil’ek singer and rodian flutist
Home one bp: orrimaarko, major panno, nien numb, ishi tib or a random mon calamari guard, y-wing pilot

By in Netherlands,

For me, 501st BP (yes cliche) with 3 phase 2 troopers and 1 ARF trooper on an AT-RT would be ideal. It fits nicely with the Umbara arc.

Battlepacks, by virtue of their name, are based around combatants in the SW universe. Army building is important to some (I would include myself in that group) but less so to others. But we should accept that multiple purchases are far more likely with these sets than any other from the SW theme.

I think it is important to make the distinction between a Battlepack and a Character pack. A Character pack is not without merit as a concept, but they will nearly always be single purchases, i.e how many Cantina bands would one need? I think they made an error in this respect with the bounty hunter pack. I appreciated getting the figures, but only a single purchase was made. Call us mad, but some people would, and in my case definately did, get a dozen Batlepacks to build ranks of Deathtroopers. I just love ‘em!

Also, doesn’t just having four figures per pack (and adding some usually pointless brick built items) get round the whole “Lego aren’t an action figure company” restriction that the SW license made some time ago. If this has expired, let’s go for it and have 8, 12 & 16 figure battlepacks. But joking aside why not go to 6 figues, 4 troops, 2 ancillaries? The ancillaries being a droid, commanding officer or support member such as a rebel mechanic?

By in United States,

I'd really like to see the format of Lego City with the theme of Star Wars. Lego Star Wars needs more world building in general.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would have two 501st and two 212th clones in a battle pack. When they were in the same battle, you know they would win. Another battle pack could be the commandos ("you", Sev, Scorch, and Fixer) from Republic Commando.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They should make one with 4 of the new Imperial Stormtroopers, one of which would have a commander flag.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I pretty much agree with everything said in this article.

however, i think i'd prefer to have a plain ol' 501st battlepack and a plain 327th star corps instead just because i d get more of each type

"I have 2 ideas, but would probably be unpopular.

"

I've never even considered any of these 2 Battle Packs,
But now I'm a bit bummed out.
Because I know that they will never happen.
Great Idea Dude,
Seriously way to think out side of the box.
I absolutely Love both ideas.

LEGO, stop making insanely overpriced LEGO city “people packs” and more Star Wars battle packs

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'd like a Jedi battlepack, maybe from Geonosis, but a "generic" group would probably appeal more to me... I'd just like the opportunity to create (more) non-specific Jedi characters... perhaps even with a set of new lightsaber moulds?

By in United Kingdom,

Great article with some great comments and ideas. Can't believe no-one's suggested a Bespin BP featuring the legendary Ice Cream Maker Guy though. Two camps of thought, it seems, army builders and character collectors though currently we're getting a bit of both so we can all be happy. We need Ponda Baba and more wookiees and any kind of creature that can be ridden, imho.

By in United States,

I agree! While I’d want 4 Troopers, I don’t need 4 of each, 4 different types (similar to Mando Battle Pack) is the way to go... that way if one wanted and army of storm trooper or clone troopers, they could buy multiple, to grow armies of 4 types of each. Good idea!

By in Finland,

My ideal battle pack would be 3 regular stormtroopers, a scout trooper and a scout speeder bike

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Definatly some 501st troopers and 332nd troopers. maybe add a shock trooper or 212. A barc speeder would fit nicely with them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My current favorite battle pack of all time actually isn't from Star Wars at all. It's the Green Army Men from Toy Story 3. I usually only buy one of any battle pack, but in that case I bought several and modified them with different poses and accessories to make a full spread based on actual plastic army men poses.

But what would really geek me out is if they gave us a Claw Alien battle pack. TS4 looks like it's done as a theme, so unless they produce TS5 someday, I very much doubt this is likely to happen...but it would be so awesome if it did.

Agreed! One with scout troopers and one with 2 Endor rebel troopers and 2 Ewoks

In fact, we only have a few rebel packs, most are either outdated or not from originals

How about a new resistance battle pack as well? Or a seperatist battle pack?

By in United States,

Love the idea of doing an iconic range from all 3 trilogies:

1) Stormtropper, Sandtropper, Snowtrooper w/ cannon, Scouttrooper with speeder bike

2) Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 Clonetroppers with Unique, yet to be made Clone Armor with AT-RT.

3) First Order Special Forces Trooper or Watertrooper (Resistance) newer Snowtrooper, Sith Royal Guard, Sith Special Forces Tie Pilot (The Rise of Skywalker) with TBA

This could be also be extended to cover ranges from The Clone Wars, Solo, Rebals, Rogue One, etc...

By in United States,

I'd love to see a Republic Commandos battle pack. Though their canonicity has been relegated to relative obscurity, ever since the original video game came out, they've been my favorite troops.

Gravatar
By in United States,

We all want the minfigures from the Cantina and Jabba's Palace. Lego should make sets that are not battlepacks but are modular and help build out a large version of both places. Lego should design a large building and break it up into small sections like the alcove that Han and Greedo sit in and sell those. This is not a new idea; it is done all the time for 3.75" inch Hasbro figures. Lego should make more special star wars minifigures.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I also say if LEGO City can give us massive 50$ people packs, Star Wars should do the same.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Slightly off topic, but we need Galen Erso, Saw Gerrero, Dryden Vos, Ponda Baba, Dr. Evazan, Garindan, L3...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think Ewoks would make for a great battle pack, as would Hondo’s pirates, and Chem’s twilek resistance.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Ok, for myself...even though they're not cannon anymore: Zero-Grav Stormtroopers. I imagine a 'Axel'-like body (from 'Nexo Knights') w/'Woody' like legs (from T.S.3 not 4); not sure what the vehicle/device build would be though.

Oh, and something to Hasall bananas: A 'heroes' pack: Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewy w/an armed speeder bike (akin to that one the Rebel Pack had years ago). 'Look' wise, don't know: Endor would be a given, but would awesome as well; or their 'first looks' might be seller too..

Also I agree w/BOBJACK_JACKBOB: the Superhero sets should be doing 'Battle Packs' as well.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want a pack of various aliens to fill out my cantina.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I'd like to see more location based Battle Packs, like an Endor set with different Ewoks, or a Mos Eisley with the Cantina patrons.

PS I like most of Ryan's videos but his logic towards the Battle Packs really annoy me. He knocked down the Jedi & Clone Troopers and Bounty Hunters Battle Packs for containing named characters, even though not all of us use the packs for army building but a cheaper way of obtaining certain minifigs. Also for some reason he disliked the Senate Commando Battle Pack for making a formerly rare minifig common.

By in United States,

@MarxMarvelous:
It sounds like a great idea at first, but the trick is you need to get a constant refresh on the assortment for it to really mean anything. If you get four aliens in jumpsuits, and that's it, then if you buy multiple copies it just looks like you've got militaries from four alien worlds comingling. Maybe you can swap bodies and heads and get a little more variety, but to really have the effect you want, they'd need to do a new alien battle pack every few years. You know, put it in rotation with some of the other stuff that gets regular coverage.
