By in Australia,

I remember how much I loved those beautiful dragon shields, when I was a kid. They were the best.

Classic Castle?!?
Why don’t you pick something all the AFOLs on this site will actually like, Huwbot?

Like Clikits.

I love how simple this is, yet still effective. While I am a fan of today’s detailed sets, there’s still an appeal to this simple, classic aesthetic.

Whenever the Black Knights marched to storm an enemy fortress, one could see at the back a jolly man carrying a contraption not much longer than two men.
Every time the rookies would laugh "what will he bring down with that plaything?", and every time he would respond "not much!"
When the battle went sour and hope was dimming for the Black Knights, this man would move quickly to the front and, not removing his smile for one instant, pronounce the mightiest words ever uttered in the soon-to-be-shattered castle. Everything would fall, including the fruits of victory.
For it was not the contraption what battered. It was he, Ramone the Battering, who demolished enemy foundations and cemented on them the morale of his fellow warriors.

I don’t get this set. It’s called “battering ram” but I don’t see a ram. I don’t see a bat. I don’t even see any cake batter of any kind.

Next thing you know, Huw will be announcing the return of LEGO Castle! Huwbot predicts the future. Whatever did happen to Castle though?

Lego would it really kill you to just do 3 or 4 castle sets a year?

By in Turkey,

Such a beautiful set. I miss the simplicity of the 80's and 90's.

By in Netherlands,

Great set. Black Knights were an amazing fraction of Castle. Too bad that there is no Castle in stores. I am glad that I’ve managed to buy this set on BrickLink.

Storing your weapons in front of your cover might not have been the greatest idea XD

A tiny little ram for tiny little gates.

Looks like a bid pram to me. A battering pram.

Actually it reminds me of Stonehenge in spinal tap where they confuse feet and inches.

ROFL

I thought exactly the same thing.

Perhaps this ram can also go to eleven ;-)

Only problem I've really got with Classic Castle is the colors. Most of the heroic knight factions had the three primary colors as their coat of arms and outfits which over-complicates things a little. Compared to Classic Town and Space, in the end, it' doesn't really hold a candle.

Retro Castle with things like Fright Knights, Dragon Knights, and Forestmen really picked up the slack though.

This isn't a battering ram. It's a medieval soap box racer with a hella sick spoiler that generates tons of downforce. The Black Knights were obviously obsessed with soap box racing since they had all of those smooth slopes on the baseplates of sets like 6086.

'93 was when Castle introduced the Dragon Knights and the wizard Majisto with his glowing wand. I thought it was really, really awesome. I was just a dumb kid at the time and I wish I had bought less Lego in '93 and more Alpha and Beta.....even though the sets were great.

I still have mine. Plus a phalanx of dragon troops.
