LEGO Ideas Music Contest
Posted by CapnRex101,
An exciting building contest has been announced on LEGO Ideas, offering an opportunity for your creation to become an official set!
Furthermore, numerous excellent prizes are available, including previous Ideas products and a unique LEGO trophy. The contest information is as follows:
We’ve got a contest, which we hope sounds great! You will remember your favorite songs lyrics off by heart. You will remember your first concert or maybe the first time you played an instrument. Almost everyone loves music in one way or another, how would you show off your love of music using LEGO bricks? We want to see anything and everything to do with music in this contest and to see some of the best composed work.
The LEGO Ideas Judges will select all the entries that participate in the Fan Vote.
Excitingly, in addition to the regular contest prizes, we are piloting a new type of contest prize and process. What this means is that all entries that reach the Fan Vote phase, will also be included into a special review by the LEGO Ideas Review Board and will stand a chance of becoming an official LEGO Ideas set IF* one submission can wow them enough.
For full details on what they’re looking for, see the ‘Judging’ section of this contest page.
* Like the regular LEGO Ideas Product Idea Review process, the additional Product Idea review phase does not guarantee that any entry will be turned into an official set.
Prizes
The Grand Prize winner of the contest’s Fan Vote will win:
- A custom LEGO trophy
- 21104 NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover
- 21306 The Beatles Yellow Submarine
- 21301 Birds
- 21109 Exo Suit

IF the Review Board decides to approve one of the contest entries as a Product LEGO Ideas product, the winning fan will be compensated as a Product Idea prize winner as outlined in the Product Idea guidelines and Terms of Service. Meaning they will receive the following:
- 1% of the total net sales of the product

It is nice how they're branching out with the Ideas platform and offering more chances for fan designs to become LEGO sets.
If a set is released for sale, will it have a sound brick...?
Music contest? Does this mean that the Lego Ideas Piano set will follow on from this competition?!
Exciting.....got to start thinking about what I could make!
I can't participate myself for the lack of bricks in deep purple (will not use magenta or bright purple instead).
And everyone who has enough Fabuland parts, please participate - maybe, just maybe if there are dozens of Fabuland bands and music stores and orchestras with Peter and Gabriel and Mike and Robby and Tubby entered, LEGO will bring Fabuland back?

Digital entries are allowed as well.
Does this hint that one of the winners of the next review will be "Queen: I Want to Break Free?"
@Norikins: It'd better be another Beatles set!
This sounds fantastic! Gotta think of what to make!
I'm assuming the next Ideas set will be the grand piano. For anyone that hasn't seen it, I'd recommend looking it up on YouTube. It's pretty incredible.
This is music to my ears. Better not tune out. Need to bass this on instruments, or it's treble.
Gaming music......
Busily working on my entry.
Another contest? How about a winner for the last one?
Trve Norwegian Black Metal set? Minifigures of Varg Vikernes (from Burzum) and Mayhem, and a church that bursts into flames, Hidden Side-style?
Better than the Beatles...

Don’t you mean ‘I Want to *Brick* Free’? :~)
I’d be seriously impressed if anybody could create a working xylophone or glockenspiel out of LEGO that can be used to create a mellifluous sound.
Generic clap trap. please move on....................
That stand in box is much too small for what the next LEGO Ideas set is going to be.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall...
Just sayin’...

Pink Floyd. Or according to LEGO, Light Reddish Violet Floyd.
I just want the Sesame Street to come out!
