Tips and Tricks #5
Posted by Catarino,Hi everyone, Tiago here, on my birthday, with another round of Tips and Tricks!
Today some LEGO City essentials with a fountain and a bus stop, and for the kids room, a clever bunk bed, which might reminding people of the double-decker couch in The LEGO Movie!
Modern Fountain
I had this built for days but wasn't too sure about it, since it wasn't the type of rounded water fountain people are used to see.
But it has some clever SNOT (studs not on top) techniques, so go and check the following video for the parts list and instructions.
Bus Stop
This is a must-have for every LEGO City, so make sure to build a few!
Now I guess I should probably do a bus?
Bunk Bed
Inspiration from something I never had as a kid!
When I have enough elements I will want to change the yellow colour into tan as it will feel more natural than the bright yellow.
A very IKEAish bunk bed!
I would love to know what would you like to see in upcoming articles!

Happy birthday, essential worker!
Happy Birthday!
This might sound a bit weird, but I would like a bath with a showered to minifies scale if possible.
Thanks!
Oh, happy birthday!
And these are always so cool to see, so thanks for posting them :D
Happy Birthday! Mine's tomorrow, the 23rd.
I really like the fountain.
Thanks Tiago, many happy returns. Top Youtube channel also!
Happy birthday - and thank you for those new buildings and tips. Even if it's a bit uncommon, I like the fountain. Maybe because it's uncommon, but even more because of the hollow space under the trans-blue tiles, which really gives the sense of "deep" water. And the double decker bed is cute too.
Edit: I guess that there's a hollow space under the trans-blue tiles...
Happy birthday Master Builder Tiago! Already watched the bunk bed tutorial and it's on my list of Must Build creations. Looking forward to watching the other two videos and catching up on all of your others. Keep up the great work and hope you get some great LEGO loot today!

Happy birthday Tiago!
I hope all your birthday presents have that distinctive LEGO rattle!
Keep up the good work.
Great builds, I love that fountain and congrats.
Happy birthday! Youve posted some awesome builds so far, keep it up!
If your going to do a bus, could you please do an old fashioned one?
Either an omnibus (thats a WW1 era double decker with open roof and open staircase at the back, can be motorised or horse drawn)
A 1930s single storey bus along the lines of 'Bertie' from Thomas the Tank Engine
Or a 1950s Americana bus in silver specifically with the slanted rhombus windows!
Other ideas perhaps radios and televisions from different eras? Most people can build a 'flat screen' but older televisions are more difficult.
I used a 1x2 grille brick (not sure what the exact name is) and an antenna/lever piece to create a 60s transistor radio. Id love to see your take on a wireless (1920s-1940s style), 1960s transistor, oh and a telegraph machine.
And minifig scale 1932 Singer sewing machine! (that was my grandmothers model)
That bunk bed looks really good.
I've actually seen rectilinear fountains pop up in newer architecture, particularly if it's going for a more zen-like feel. Specifically, I think the Salt Lake City airport has a series of them. I don't remember what stone they used there, but slate or shale is pretty common for this type of waterfall, or any other natural stone that has similar cleavage properties.
@Brick_t_:
I only see two trans tiles. The deep water looks like it's 1x2x5 bricks laid on their sides. Part of what allows these to give that clean look is they're big enough to fill a 2x6 space with a single piece. Tiles larger than 1x2 would also have tubes or bars cluttering up the underside, which would be nearly impossible to hide on any transparent color.
Again, great article! Happy bday too!

Check Tips and Tricks 2! Is that what you're talking about?
Everyone! Thank you! Huw was kind enough to edit the article to include the fact it was my birthday, which he didn't need to do! :) Thanks again! And build something fun today!
@Catarino yes, but is it minifig scale?
