Summer sets now in the database

The White House

©2020 LEGO Group

LEGO has made images of the summer sets available to retailers on its B2B asset portal. That has resulted in many smaller ones publishing them, probably before they are supposed to.

Unfortunately, those found so far are miniscule so it's difficult to see them properly. It's a mystery to me why LEGO does not make full sized images available to fan media sites at the same time as it adds them to the asset portal to avoid this problem.

Anyway, I have now added them to the database and you view them all here, including City, DC and Marvel Super Heroes, Hidden Side, Friends, Dots, Jurassic World, Ninjago and Architecture.

Thanks mostly to bouwsteentjes.info for the images.

As great as the new architecture white house is, the set looks fantastic, that box art really ruins it for me, to me part of the joy of architecture sets was the minimalist black box art with a nice picture and line artwork of the set and that was it but now they've added some awful looking white banner on the bottom, combined with that horrible white house set name, it really makes it look like some awful star wars playset, (but hey that's just my opinion)

I agree, its strange they made the box look like a Star Wars UCS box, I'm fine with them using it for the actual Star Wars sets but this doesn't match at all.

Yep completely agree, ngl I was kind of worrying that I would be alone on that opinion ;)

By in Slovenia,

All superhero sets look like 4juniors ... I miss old sets like the first Avengers wave.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

When are these sets released? Are they all June releases? Or do we get some sets in May?
Also when are the Monkey Kid sets going to be released for sale?

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

What about 60265?
This should be some kind of an undersea base...

Gravatar
By in Italy,

This new White House is much better than the old one, but with all the cool buildings around the world, why do they have to issue remakes?

Gravatar
By in Finland,

Definitely a lot of great sets, the new Dots and Ninjago especially look especially good and that new pirate ship too (and the new dinos too)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Probably going to pass on all the Mario and Hidden Side sets, unless they are really reduced (at least 50% off).

I like the look of the White House but I'm also not a fan of the box art.

I can't believe that too many collectors are going to be buying the Marine Research sets, which makes me think the line is for kids but the $130 price point on the big ship doesn't agree with that opinion. I mean, who is going to buy a big ship worth $130 for their kid? It's not even Christmas yet. The most interesting Marine Research set, for me, is the smallest: 30370, with the new coral piece and the sting-ray to add to the ever-growing LEGO animal collections.

The Hidden Side box art really puts me off, like there's something to hide.

As for Marvel, another Helicarrier? In my opinion, I think LEGO should just make a UCS type of microscale model and be done with it. The microscale model would sell so much better than a play set, especially one that we already have.

I am looking forward to the Ninjago Legacy line, although it has the same problem as the Helicarrier, in regards to the Destiny's Bounty. However, this one is scaled down quite a bit with a lower price tag, hopefully.

I'm not really bothered about the DC sets. Meh.

I've pretty much given up on DOTS, because I'm a young, male TFOL and the printed parts are not very interesting to me.

Same with Friends.

Being an avid Star Wars fan, I'm really looking forward to the 501st Legion Troopers. And.... that's about it!

By in Singapore,

I agree, shame about the new Architecture box art. At the very least they could've gone with the black background, not a white one. I'm also still disappointed about the discontinuation of Architecture Studio.

Stephanie's House is very reminiscent of 10686 Family House, but there are much fewer outdoor goodies. There does seem to be a good chunk of wall extending behind the façade, but how much of that will be playable remains to be seen. Either way, I'm putting it on my wanted list as I need a proper Stephanie minidoll.

I LOVE MIA'S TOP IN HEARTLAKE CITY PARK CAFÉ! And there's a cool new e-scooter piece in Emma's Fashion Shop.

DOTS will be the end of me. I wasn't expecting the range to expand this much. There's even going to be a mega pack of the wristbands. And the series 2 extras pack is going to have a Super Rare print.

HAMMERHEAD SHARK IN 60263. I'm hoping it'll be priced right around the same as 60090, but... that new hammerhead shark element, as much as I love hammerheads, has me worried. Hope I'll be able to nab that polybag with the blue-spotted stingray too!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@LegoSonicBoy I'm afraid your Hammerhead shark dreams have just been crushed 60263 is $9.99, whilst 60090 was $6.99. I am sorry for your loss. :(

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

@Slobrojoe Bummer! I just realized it could be not just because of the hammerhead element but the new 4+ minisub chassis — it looked brick-built I couldn't tell. Oh well, there's always a sale...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don’t mind it actually. I mean, if this was the art which was on the first architecture sets, would we have hated it then?

It’s probably just a small marketing ploy to differentiate the 18+ sets from young ones.

Also, I just noticed, is that Ninjago set meant to be called ‘Zane’s Mino Creature’ or ‘Rhino Creature’?

By in United States,

Still waiting on pictures for Harry Potter sets...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looking through the Friends sets, it seemed the figure selection was very limited. Even with sets that had opportunities for other characters you just get 2 of the 5.
Would be much more interesting if it was 1 & 1 other character

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Have to admit I may be a little disappointed by the White House, perhaps because I was expecting a slightly larger version with greater detail compared to the previous White House (like how last years Empire State Building was a larger version). Instead it looks to be smaller but with extra building. Will have to see more pictures.

Any rumours on what 21053 will be?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I've seen the monkey kid ones on Instagram they look cool, 3 of the friends ones my kids will want and the sloth and white tiger especially,
Myself I love the jokers trike one and the hellicarrier ok but not a patch on the UCS one based on the movies...
Is there no more Disney princess or speed champion sets to come out?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The underwater sets look pretty decent. I love all the new animals.

The superhero sets are a pass, except for the big Helicarrier (with little flying MODOC).

Friends sets are okay (yay for more animals).

I love love LOVE the new dinosaur moulds (but still no Stegosaurus, Lego? C'mon).

The Hidden Side range continues on a downward slide (except for that gorgeous firetruck).

How freaking awesome does the new Ninjago stuff look?

Gravatar

1. I believe there is a baby stegosaurus in Dr Wu’s Lab
2. I honestly think the fire truck is the worst of the bunch. It misses the core appeal of the line to me, since it can’t really function in a “normal” setting.
3. Very.

Still nothing from the 2020 Overwatch sets, even though there are entries on Brickset's database. Fearing that the theme was dropped and the new sets cancelled.

The theme had such fantastic sets and minifigs...

I wish that was true, but I'm almost certain it's a baby Ankylosaurus. I'm a Power Ranger, Stegosaurus is my dinosaur avatar, and I know stegs :).

"2. I honestly think the fire truck is the worst of the bunch. It misses the core appeal of the line to me, since it can’t really function in a “normal” setting."

I'm sure you could rebuild it quite easily into just a normal fire-truck. I just don't like that it's 8-wide. And I like the creepy villain figure that comes with it. The jail's not too bad, but I'm not feeling the other two.

"3. Very."

The new red mecha looks like it'd make the most beautiful companion model to Lloyd's Titan Mech (that came out last year).

Gravatar
By in United States,

I didn't know there was add ins to the White House. I thought it was just the main white building, but I guess I never considered the press room and all that. The set looks completely different from what I expected, but it still looks cool! Can't wait to see the Technic sets in the near future.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@Nabii The mobile base was one of the sets I was most looking forward to being revealed, and I think it looks wonderful. I can't wait to build it!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Everyone is talking about the Architecture box art, but I can't really get over the Hidden Side and Ninjago box art's immense visual clutter. I understand that they want to make the Hidden Side sets look unique, but I still feel like focusing the primary side of the box on the renders/art takes away from the fantastic builds that the theme has to offer.

And some of the Ninjago boxes... Ugh. Maybe it's just the low-resolution images, but everything just blends together into this big mess of unappealing colors to me. The mech looks nice though, I'm sure it'll go well with the Monkie Kid mech (Which I hope isn't $150 as the rumors go, but that's another topic.)

By in United States,

Maybe it's for the better that the Monkie Boy set images aren't officially released yet. The theme looks very... interesting. In an Asian market it may do well but a Western one it may be a bit much. Hopefully there's a good support back story like a TV/web series or similar to further explain the plot.

As for the other sets, I'm looking forward to the new City aquatic animals and some od the Ninjago line.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't mind the Architecture packaging. It still looks suitably refined, though I don't quite get the white stripe at the bottom.

I'm going to be interested to see how the Friends sets created for the National Geographic partnership compare with the City sets created for NG. The other Friends sets look very similar to those from a few years ago; the airplane looks just as impractical from an aerodynamic standpoint as the last one did.

Totally agree with you on the look of the thing. I believe it is possible to grab a bunch of totally random pieces and slap them together in the dark and arrive at something better looking than this abomination. There might be minor redemption with some useful parts though. I feel sorry for completist who might have to buy this. Still waiting for HP and Lambo Sian.

By in Canada,

A nice selection of sets to satisfy the needs of most everyone! But do you know what I'd really really really want to see made from Lego?

A set like https://brickset.com/sets/45029-1/Animals but at minifig scale.

The Friends line is getting there somehow but why is it so hard to do it minifig style?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The only three sets that interest me are the Fire Truck and Castle from Hidden Side, and the Gallimius and Pteradon Breakout.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So far I like what I see! I'll just do a rundown of each theme. The biggest plus I've noticed is how good the value is in the smaller sets.

Jurassic World
I really like all the new dinosaurs. It'll be great for adding variety to the park, and many of them have been long overdue. I also love the lab set for including two baby dinos to play with. Still, I'm expecting to get gouged for these, so I won't be picking the sets up. That is, unless my brother needs a Christmas gift.

Hidden Side
-Mixed, but they are addressing one of the biggest issues I've had with the theme. We're getting better ghosts! This wave and the last have really added to the variety that we get and it looks like there's even a ghost that's an ally in the submarine set. There's even an actual boss-level ghost included in the firetruck set that looks creepy. I love it. This also alleviates my issue with Hidden Side where all the cool ghosts were pretty much only in either expensive sets or only appeared in the videogame. I hope there's more brick built ghouls and monsters to come.
Although, I am worried this theme is on it's last legs I dread people being able to finally play the game on current hardware that's widespread only to have the sets discontinued and expensive second-hand.

Ninjago
Someone at LEGO has been playing Dungeons and Dragons recently. While I'll likely only pick up Wu's dragon, these sets are awesome! I love the underground aesthetics with the lava and skeletons decorating the area. Kinda looks like a kid-friendly heavy metal album cover come to think of it. The new variety of enemies is also nice with trolls, orcs, new skeletons, and even what appears to be a witch doctor of some kind. The board game element will be interesting to see, and reminds me of when they did similar content with Adventurers.

Monkey Kid
LEGO is really bad at keeping these leaks off of Instagram, aren't they?

Super Mario
I love Mario, but I'll have to wait for a sale.

Avengers
I love the new Captain Marvel minifigure. A good new helmet, more detail, and is actually colorful. The helicarrier actually looks like a well-sized set for the value. I will say though that the avengers tower is laughably bad. Why didn't they just make the set have a theme of battling on the roof of the tower like they did with Clash of the Heroes? That would've worked and kept the price down.

Batman
-Well, at least the builds have improved. Still wish we got more location based sets.

City
-Overall Great! But I feel the value gets worse as the sets get bigger.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Helicarrier looks nothing like the " real" thing from 2015.... but ok kids will probably like it.

Love the new JP dinosaurs and next seasons Ninjago sets. Only wish there will be another addition to the Ninjago city line.

I dont understand the Super Mario sets. If Lego would have made minifigure based sets it would have been a major hit for adults and therefor for kids too....since parents would have bought their kids all super mario sets for sentimental reasons.

Love the White House. Even like the box art ;) will be my first architect set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Easy pass on all these sets, except I might get the diver polybag to get the new helmet mold. I do agree with others here that it is an odd decision for LEGO to change the box art for the White House, looks like an SW hybrid. The only thing that is and has ever been good in Marvel sets are the figures and the new wave keeps that trend. Could care less about the other waves since there not for me. Hopefully, the new SW wave will not be disappointing for once...

Honestly the Lego City Airplane that is releasing for 99$ also looks pretty impractical. Something about the new cockpit piece just doesnt make the plane look right, make it looking pretty big and thick compared to the actual wing piece.

Airport sets are awful, I might get the Airliner, but the rest are too junior. This is disappointing as there appeared to be some hope for the City theme with some of the earlier sets this year but these have driven the car off the bridge. Just keep those licensed themes going so you can continue to alienate the classic theme collectors.

By in United Kingdom,

I don't see what all the fuss is about the White House box art. The architectural drawing is just a small detail that can tie real world building sets together in the future.

Imo, Lego have up until now had two problems - first, that they mixed skyline and building sets together in the same theme / style. Larger scale buildings and smaller skylines are quite different things.

Secondly, a black box isn't necessarily that distinctive by itself, and there are a few Creator Expert sets that have been black or nearly black - James Bond, Harley Davidson, and most confusingly, Old Trafford (which in most senses felt like an architecture set but was themed as Creator Expert).

Hopefully this is a step towards solving both of those issues.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Almost surprised they continue the Hidden Side theme - the entire first wave is currently 40% off in my local store (just picked up two of the 70425 School set). And trust me - Lego discounts are *rare* around here (especially in actual stores), it's not like in the US where you can pretty much expect any set to go on 20% sale after a month or two. As said earlier I believe the problem is the poor and confusing box art, it's too hard to see the actual model (seems to have improved slightly on the new sets) and most people thinks the app is required (according to the cashier it seems like the overall spookiness turns off potential buyers too, again a reason to tone down the art a little).

Spacebug - While I've never been a fan of these single-piece cockpits, I agree that the new one looks particularly bad. I think it's how the part above the windows is just a bit too tall, making it look like a mix of an A380, a Beluga and a white van (just noticed how they've painted the new Beluga XL like a dolphin to make it less fugly).

Don't feel there are any real must-haves here, the Pirate Ship is interesting (have to see better pics) and the same with the Space Rover (but I feel the front window is a bit off and makes it look like a combine harvester).

Gravatar
By in Poland,

New Ninjago looks uber cool to me, those connecting sets are very nice for castle and pirates setups which makes them more universal. I love the box art, even though obviously it's far from classic town or castle boxes, but it's the sign of times and by today's standards that boxart looks marvelous. New friends sets are nice, those transparent tubes are really intersting for mocs. There's also a couple of hidden side sets I really like, and creator pirate ship is a must buy.
