Today we are meeting Kieran Lewis, aka TedBricks who's in Staffordshire, UK.

What is your first LEGO memory?

My first ever LEGO set was 3271 Bob's Workshop, I believe, it's a DUPLO set. Now I don't have many memories of this set because when I got it I must have been less than a year old. I do remember playing with it when I was around the age of 3 - 5 probably.

However I mostly remember playing with 4105 Creator Bucket a lot growing up as it was a great bucket full of LEGO to build what ever you want! I would say that my LEGO interest really started to evolve in 2008 with the release of the Indiana Jones sets. I believe it was either my 7th or 8th birthday I received 7623 Temple Escape which to this day holds up to be a fantastic LEGO set!

Did you have a dark age and if so what caused you to emerge from it?

I never had a massive dark age but I can definitely see a massive decline in my set collecting in 2016 from the previous year for some reason. I don't really remember exactly why I slowed down but not so long later the number of the amount of sets I collect a year suddenly went back up again in 2017!

Which set or theme has been most influential upon you, as a LEGO fan?

100% LEGO Marvel. I would say Superheroes LEGO as a whole because I do mostly collect Marvel and DC but nothing compares to my Marvel collection which I am very proud of and feel very fortunate to own. The reason I collect Marvel is simple, I love the movies! I mean who doesn't?! My favourite set out of this theme is 76007 Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack! I have so many fun memories with this set! I got it for my 12th birthday which I remember being so happy to get it!

What are you building right now?

Very soon I'm planning to build LEGO set 75549 Unstoppable Bike Chase which I ordered recently.

How do you store your LEGO?

It's funny actually, it was only less than a week ago I resorted all of my loose LEGO bricks and put them into sandwich bags all colour coded! It took a while as you can imagine, but it's just easier now for me to find different pieces when I need them. However, a lot, if not most, of the LEGO sets I own are still built, either on display on selves in my bedroom or in large boxes under my bed which is actually all my Marvel and DC collection.

Do you build MOCs? If, so what?

Recently yes, I don't normally build MOCs but I thought it would be cool to do as I've got nothing else better to do. I didn't realise how fun it was! It's fairly small but it's one of my first attempts in building something so detailed. Of course, it's a beach which is on two 32x32 baseplates. I'm rather happy with it, but I hope to do much bigger and detailed MOCs in the future!

Do you have a presence on Instagram, YouTube or elsewhere?

I have a YouTube channel called TedBricks which at the moment I don't upload too much there but I hopefully will soon!

Do you have any interests or hobbies other than LEGO?

I do art and design at college, so I'm a rather creative person in that regard.

How long have you been visiting Brickset?

Unfortunately only since the end of December 2019. I say unfortunately because I can't believe I didn't discover this amazing site sooner! It's so useful and I've always wanted a something like this, I don't know how I had no clue it existed! I really kick myself that I didn't know until recently but now I'm happy I have!

What's your favourite/most used feature of the site?

There're many features I like about the site but the one I think I like the most is the fact you can see graphs of all different kinds! Like value, years, themes etc!

I'm very fortunate to own a lot of old classic vintage LEGO sets before I was even born in 2001. A few of the sets used to be my dad's, like 853 Car Chassis. But most of those older ones are either second hand or ones I also got on eBay.

Thanks, Kieran

By in Turkey,

My son has very little interest in Lego's but I'm thinking a great surprise is waiting for my grandkids.
