Storage solutions: I've run out!
Posted by Huw,I have no storage solutions article for you today. I'm waiting on a few to come in and also for a few previously submitted ones to be elaborated upon. So, sorry about that...
If you'd like to contribute to the series, take some photos of your storage and displays, explain what products you use, how you sort and store and so on, then send it all to helpdesk [at] brickset.com.
It helps immensely when I'm provided with a Word or similar document containing the text and images, and the images separately, so I can see where you want them placed in the text but don't have to faff about extracting them from the document.
Thank you!

I have no storage solutions too. I have completely run out of space.
Here's a video to watch instead of an article about sorting and storing Lego.

I have run out of storage solutions as well. I need less LEGO.........bahahahahahaha
I need to stop buying LEGO and buy some sort of storage system........bahahahahaha
I'll just carry on regardless.
@namekuji Same here :)

That video is a gem. No spoilers here, but I smiled all the way through it.
I'm tempted to submit my "solution" because it might provide some illumination (or inspiration!) for those who have limited space AND need to be mobile. Having moved house twice inside a year, I know how stressful it can be to deal with packing and transporting a reasonably sized LEGO collection along with everything else. It was the first packing that got planned! Well, you've gotta get your priorities sorted, right?! :-D
My storage solutions are certainly not worthy of an entire article. I only left my very long dark age about 18 months ago, so my LEGO collection is still relatively small. I have some unopened sets stacked up in a spare room and the sets I have opened are all mostly still built and on display, meaning I just have a small amount of loose bricks.
Those bricks are currently stored in Sistema food boxes of various sizes because I like the strong clips they have (and I got them on sale).
Having rediscovered a love of LEGO, I've found that I like the Creator 3-in-1 theme the most, due to the large number of alternative models that can be found on rebrickable.com and the different range of pieces in each set. I'm starting to design MOCs from these sets so my intention is to keep the pieces together for each Creator set, stored in zip-lock bags and then stored in Really Useful Boxes (lidded plastic crates).
Anyone got some ideas on how to display some lego Sets in a attic/Bedroom? Im stuck :/
Does "in a big pile" count as a "solution"?
Everything counts. Someone will be in a similar situation to you and will appreciate the inspiration.
I’ve started working out what kind of budget is required to make my Lego more searchable, and it’s more than my Lego budget...
Unless you want a ‘lack of storage solutions’, then I don’t think I’ll participate
Huw, would be interested in sending in my Lego room, but it’s more display than sorting, most of what I have is displayed with all the bricks in my Kids rooms! Would this qualify?!
I keep meaning to write and submit mine but haven't got round to it yet. I'll try and get it done.
I've seen a lot of articles about people, who have storage for pieces to build their own models. It would be nice to see some articles about people, who store regular LEGO models in bookshelves and clear cases. That would be awesome to see.
Would be interested to hear about anyone displaying and storing Lego in a Tiny House on wheels or RV, or some same such small space with multiple uses.
@BrickMage:
Eh, I've found Sistema to be a bit lacking in terms of design for food dishes. I bought some of the soup bowls because I got sick of having to do origami with wax paper whenever I wanted soup or chili. I quickly discovered that they're not really designed well for cleaning in a dishwasher. I was able to figure out how to place the bowls in the top rack so they stand perfectly on end (otherwise I'd end up with the bottom lip trapping water and occasionally food particles), but the lids were a bigger issue. There's a pocketed vent in the lid which also traps water. I eventually gave up and drilled two tiny holes in one end of the pocket so any water that ends up in the pocket will actually drain out by the time the dry cycle is complete. And that's not even getting into the fact that if you leave any small clumps of food clinging to the interior sidewalls when you heat stuff up, they can reach much higher temperatures that will scar the inside of the "microwave safe" food container.
And yes, it's gotten so bad that you just read an entire post about dishwasher physics.
Well... let me open this up to anyone who would like to see anything more specific from my collection. Just reply to this and I'll upload something to Flickr.
@Huw Maybe it would be easier on you (in terms of submissions) if you put out these once a week instead of one per day?
Are you still doing featured sets as well, or has that segment run its course?
My storage solution is to have every set I own (from the 70s up through 2020) assembled on tables in the basement in one giant city. Then the empty boxes are stored on wire shelves.
The exceptions are the sets that are on display on the bookshelf in my office and my son's Duplo sets which are currently scattered across the living room.
I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to this series but maybe Huw could change it to storage or display, because I love looking at how people have things displayed even more so than the storage solutions. I would have sent in photos of my displays but I've just packed them up ready for moving :(
Thanks again to everyone they have all been so interesting to look and read about :)
My storage solution consists of a few boxes under a bed and nowhere to do anything with them...
Would anyone else be interested in seeing the Storage Solutions of the 'staffers' at Brickset...? :-)
Still a work in progress for me. The past few articles have inspired me a lot. So Thank you Huw for this series. When my room is finished (hopefully within a month) I will contribute to the series as Well. I will have a mix of Ikea Metod kitchen stuff and built things of my own. I will take also Some pictures of the Wip, perhaps that is worth of an article too :-)
