The Super Mario starter set and the expansion packs are now available at IWOOT.
IWOOT ships internationally so is a great option for buying LEGO if you're in a country where it is not so easy to find or is expensive.

Don’t really get the Super Mario theme. It looks kinda bad.
Those forced excitement expressions are so disturbing.
It's like someone is pointing guns at them yelling "smile! have fun, or I'll shoot you".
That picture is super creepy.

Now that people have been getting the sets and sharing videos on Instagram, I have to say I’m kind of excited for Mario. I picked up a few of the character packs yesterday at Target because I couldn’t resist! Surprisingly the character packs were $3.99 - LEGO has them listed for $4.99
I don't get how this is a game. You can just touch Mario to the flagpole and win.

As a kid of the 80s, I remember "re-enacting" Mario with my LEGO minifigs and make-shift brick levels. Making them jump on "goombas" and head-butt bricks to get powerups etc. Matches up OK with how I played with LEGO as a kid at least.
My son and I are enjoying it quite a bit. Got the Starter, Bowser, 3 of the character packs and Target had the Surprise polybag for sale so I got one of those.
It is about re-creating the game and if you play through as is intended then you'll enjoy the journey. Yes you can go right to the flag but that's your choice. I do wish there was more of a game available but I like just having the characters also.

And only then you'd only get like three coins. If you don't touch any of the tiles you don't increase your score.
Look up Just2Good's video reviews. They sold me on it instantly.
