I've handled the cheerleader's pom-poms!

I went to the London Toy Fair today specifically to visit the LEGO stand. The event is the first on the international toy fair calendar and as usual LEGO has one of the biggest stands there. Also, as usual, it is shrouded in secrecy and admission is by invitation only which is unlike most of the other stands there. Because of this photography is not permitted, so you'll have to wait for pictures from the New York toy fair in February to see anything new.

However, I can tell you something about what was on display, and perhaps as importantly, what wasn't.

A lot of space was devoted to HERO FACTORY, and as well as the six good guys we have pictures of, the baddies were on display as well. To the untrained eye the range looks pretty much the same as Bionicle: certainly some of the pieces in the sets are Bionicle pieces but there are also a lot of new pieces. To me, they didn't look quite as good 'in the flesh' as I was expecting because the images we have seen of them make them look slightly metallic but in reality they are just normal plastic.

The City Trains look absolutely fantastic and a return to old-school train sets made from real pieces instead of large ill-fitting ones.

The three summer Atlantis sets look interesting: there's another creature, a lobster I think, an underwater base and the 'portal of Atlantis'. The pictures shown elsewhere of these are only a small part of them.

The Toy Story 3 sets were shrouded in even more secrecy than the rest of the exhibits: their shelf had a hinged lid and only the very priveleged were allowed to see them. I caught a glimpse and I liked what I saw...

It looks like being a great year for Technic with four sets due in August including a motorised excavator with 4 motors and 4 linear actuators, and a mobile crane.

The summer Star Wars sets looked to be a bit of a mixed bunch with Emperor Palpatine's shuttle looking a bit of a mess in a hotch-potch of colours. However the minfigs are incredible: General Grievious has a new body, Cad Bane has a teriffic hat, and Bossk a nice head :-)

The five Prince of Persia sets, to be released in April, all looked pretty good although the animals and some other parts were stil prototypes so it was difficult to tell how cool they are going to be.

I was pleased to see that most of the Harry Potter sets were on display and as I speculated The Burrows is indeed a very cool set. Ginny Weasley has a new hairpiece which is fabulous and makes her just like she does in the films. In fact there were a lot of new minifigs: somewhere around 20-25, including Dobby with a flesh head. However I am disappointed to report that Hogwarts Express does NOT use the new train wheels and looks just as bad as the last one which really is a shame.

So, what wasn't on display: Bionicle, no surprise there, but also Kingdoms, the new Castle subtheme. This suggests that they will be sold only through LEGOshop.com and the brand stores.

Last but certainly not least, the collectable minifigs were on display: both series one and two. They are just so awesome and series two has just as many very cool figs as series one. Nearly every one features something unique be it a printed torso or an accessory which hasn't been available before and (I'm told) won't be used elsewhere. I learned some other facts about them: They will cost £1.99 in the UK. The yellow outer box will contain 60 minifigs. Some will be rarer than others. They won't be available in newsagents like WHS but from normal stockists. Series one will be out around May and series two in September-ish, so that gives us a reasonable time to collect them all. You can't really tell what's in the bag by feeling them as they are quite stiff. And, as the title of this article suggests, the cheerleader has a nice pair of pom-poms :-)

Feel free to ask any questions you have and I'll do my best to answer them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome! I can't wait for the New York toy fair!

Gravatar
By in United States,

OMG I CANT WAIT TILL HARRY POTTER I wish some1 can leak some photos

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can you say anything on Toy story 3? Also thanks for the info.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You couldn't just slip out your phone and snap a pic? ;-)
Just kidding.
Good, Hero Factory has baddies. Hopefully they have a storyline, although I'm NOT getting any.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thanks so much for the update!

For the collectable minifigures, what do you mean by a stockist? Are you saying that these will be available at Toys R Us, Target, Walmart, etc as opposed to just Lego Stores? And if my math is right, they'll be about the same price as an impulse set?

I can't believe some of the figures will be more rare than others. I just know I'm going to end up with 5 whole cheer squads in search of outlaws, Indians, cavemen, and robins hood. >:o(

Tell us all about Series 2! Cavalry, Aliens, Army Men, Conquistadors, Farmers?!?!?! We must know!!!! :o)

And on a related note, when can we expect the Modular Shop or the fantastic limousine?!?! :o)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

you can only get a certain amount of info
it was good for amount you got
could you give us anymore info?
if not dont matter
thanks

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Do you have any pics? If not do you know where I can find some ?

Gravatar
By in United States,

monkey man he said they were not allowed to take pictures during the convention. Try brickshelf once in a while. Hope this answers your question.

Gravatar
By in Greece,

so can you tell us what the next wave of special minifigures will include??

did you see the new city sets for this summer and if so was there a city house?

How sure are you that the new castle theme will be a exclusive only?
this dosent make much sense as this is a full new theme and it even has impulse sets so why keep it so limited?

thanx for the info and hope you can answer my questions!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Wow.... he said the yellow figure box has 60 figs on the outside. But there are only 16 figs in each series - so mabye, we've only seen what will be the common ones :-D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

How much are the new trains? I've seen pictures, and heard stuff, but they sound great (I hope the cost isn't to great in my wallet)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Were there any new Space Police III or Power Miners sets?

Gravatar
By in United States,

when should we expect these new sets to be out? particularly the star wars ones...and is there still a toy fair coming up next month?

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's sweet! Trains, Technic, and the Atlantis descriptions really caught my attention (Plus the collectable minifigures, they rock!). I'll just get myself a cheerleader... :P

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@sammy1, there are only 16 different figs but the box in the shop will contain 60. I didn't get the impression that every box would contain every fig, but I guess there's a fair chance they do.

@phoinix, there was too much to take in: I can't remember any specifics!

@TransformR, no

@WedgeAntilles, the NY toy fair is 12-14 February. They tend to be more permissive of photos there, because a lot of companies use the German toy fair (4-9th Feb) to officially unveil their products, and I think this includes LEGO.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hi, can you describe what Harry Potter sets were on display and what they consisted of? How do they compare to previous sets? Thanks!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These sound absolutely amazing and I will definately get some

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@BigHobbit,

Dobby's release: 30-odd pieces and three figs including a new Dobby
Quidditch lesson: 5 or 6 figs, 2 per team plus a teacher and/or ref., plus hoops and stands
Hagrid's Hut wasn't on display
The Burrows: 3 storey house, 'twisted' and asymmetrical like in the films. 5 or 6 figs: most of the Weasleys and Harry probably.
Hogwart's Express: Red loco and tender, and one short coach, perhaps only 16 studs long and I think Mr Weasley's car (the light blue one) came with this or possibly with the castle
Hogwart's Castle: a new design, 7-8 figs, new dementors, folding-open design. Another visitor remarked that it looked smaller than previous ones but it looked about the same as the others to me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

what was in colletable minfig seirs 2?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

who comes with palpatines shuttle i know palpatine, medical droid and vader but who else??

Gravatar
By in United States,

@es09, a clone pilot.
Oh gosh I can't wait!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't wait to see this at the NY Toy Fair. I am attending and hope to get into the LEGO booth. That is the main reason I attend! It is so exciting to see the new sets so early. These collectible minifigs are really striking up quite a lot of excitement in the online community. Can't wait to start trading them with other fans of LEGO!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Even if you don't remember ALL of the series two figs, do you remember some of them? For example... was there a pirate fig? Or a bluecoat?

You realise that until we have pictures, what you have inside your head is very valuable right now.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, thanks for all the Harry Potter details. I'll be anxious to see this "new design" for Hogwarts. Maybe by the US Toy Fair, Hagrid's Hut will be available to show as well.

Gravatar
By in United States,

WOW I CANT WAIT FOR..............everything! But 3 US bucks a bag for a single minifig? better be worth it. Were there any new mystery figures that you saw?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is it just me or is anyone else having flashbacks to Elizabeth: The Golden Age where HUW is Sir Walter Raleigh returning from the New World with news of wondrous things and collectible minifigures, etc? :o)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks like you had a great time!
A few questions:

-Did they had the 2 'vehicles' sets on display?

-What were the prices of the Hero Factory baddies?

-Did the Slave 1 had Boba w/ new jetpack?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've seen the "kingdoms" sets, I think it is still Castle, but I read somewhere that Castle would change its name.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hi,

By any chance did they mention an expected release date for the Toy Story 3 LEGOS? And were they any of the Disney CARS DUPLOs there and when is the expected release date for those as well?

Thanks,

Gravatar
By in United States,

One, as stated, ANYTHING you remember on the series two figs? You can't have that bad a memory... just any new pieces or anything stood out from those? Two, with the burrow (or Hogwarts, I guess), did they have Fred or George at all? I really want those two.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have a few questions concerning the minifigs:

First, I know you probably won't, but can you tell us what any of the second batch were?

Second, are they going to be available in the U.S.?

And third, your article makes it sound like all the minifig packages will contain one complete minifig, rather than pieces from five or six different ones. Is this true? Because a month or so ago, it was mentioned that the pieces to the minifigs would be packaged randomly (so you'd get, for example, the clown hair, zombie legs, spaceman head, etc. all mixed together). But now it sounds like - while the packages will still be unclear as to what minifig is inside - one minfig's complete pieces will be in each package. Am I right?

Thanks

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can't wait. I would have gone crazy not being able to take any pictures...

Gravatar
By in United States,

can you desribe dobby's head for me? you said it was flesh colord, but is it round?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Can you tell us more about the Technic sets due in August, particularly the excavator with 4 motors and 4 linear actuators which sounds really good. Did they have 10211 Grand emporium on display?

Gravatar
By in United States,

how much does a minifigure pack cost in the United States? (dollars)

and can someone please tell me why my comments never seem to be submitted correctly because the last one didn't work!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Did Grievous' Starfighter still have a big square cockpit piece?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Anything on cad banes speeder or star wars 10122

Gravatar
By in United States,

What is kingdoms? Anybody have a link or something to explain it?
Thanks!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't know what to think of the Hogwarts Express train described by Huw. On one hand, I am sad about none of the new trains wheels being in the set. On the other, it's good because none of my other trains will be dwarfed by the engine. (As the Emerald Night did to my custom engine.) Oh well, I guess it can't be too bad... I hope.

Gravatar
By in United States,

8D Harry Potter sounds awesome! A new Anglia? Assymetrical Burrow (NOT BURROWS)? Fig-heavy Quidditch set with new Madame Hooch? *Salivates*

Do you have any sort of estimate on the piece count or physical dimensions of The Burrow, or, better yet, a price point? I'd really like to get an idea of how big a set it is.

Gravatar
By in United States,

wow, the new minifigs for star wars sound awesome! i can't wait for them to come out soon later this year. I have personally i think its a little strange thet are bringing back the harry potter theme, after all, it didn't do very well. also the new hero factory seems like a sad theme, something to replace bionicle with.

Gravatar
By in United States,

also, will the collectible minifigs be availible to be ordered from LEGOShop.com? If so, i see about 2 or 3 every time i order haha

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Wow sounds great anything on the Star Wars sets Turbo Tank? Will there be a way to tell each minifig bag from another???

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey, I wonder, has anyone stopped to consider that perhaps the bases are new parts too and could possibly be a valuable part for MoCs? (The figures are still the highlight).
Also, I've estimated that they'll most likely cost $3.50 USD, if this is the case, then 1.99 in Pounds is somewhat cheaper. But if it does in fact cost $3.00, then they'll actually be cheaper in the US (which may be a first). And while a few cents is not much, when it comes to buying in large quantities (which I'm sure you ALL will do, me included), that can add up to a few free figures.
Still, I CAN'T WAIT!! They look awesome.
And as for series 2, only time will tell...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh yeah, and one absolutely burning question, how do the pom-poms attach to the cheerleaders hands? Do they have a depression for the tops of the hands, or are there clips/bars to hold onto? I'm sure sports fans are dying for their own cheerleader squads for their teams.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow Huw, have fun answering all these questions....hah
I also am wondering, is the Dobby head the same, just in flesh tone?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cad Banes speeder?????

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey Huw i don't want to ask to much but can you describe the Atlantis sets please :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Stockist? Do you mean minifigs will be stocked by Toy R Us, Target, Walmart (Argos, ASDA, Tesco in UK)?

Gravatar
By in Colombia,

Hi Huw
I have an invitation to the Toy fair, do I need an special invitation to enter the Lego Stand?
Federico from Colombia

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Do you know which figs are rarer, or at least how the rarity system works. Like 10 very common, 4 rare, 2 ultra rare.

Also does each figure come with one of those little black base pieces?

Thanks in advance.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Does the new General Grievous have a new head and bent knees (and possibly poseable legs)?

Gravatar
By in Kazakstan,

Hi there.

What about "Fan choice" set?..

Thx a lot!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@krysto2002, that would not be a first. LEGO sets are almost always cheaper in the United States than anywhere else. I bet the figures cost $1.99-$2.99 in the U.S.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think it's lame LEGO is supposedly not gonig to use the new pieces from the minifigures. Does anyone really believe that?

Everything you said about the minifigures makes me want to 'collect' them less. A shame.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I take it the excavator is the larger of the Technic sets still to be released? I suppose there is no sign of a return to good old fashioned, proper brick style Technic sets that we all loved. Its a pity Lego don't do a mega-sized £250 Technic model, like they do in starwars and really pull out all the stops.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hi there Huw,

Sounds like you had a really good time! Wish I could have been there :-)

A few (dozen!) questions on the Technic front, a couple are similar to meccanotwitchs' above though.

1. With Regards the Excavator, are we looking at something like the 8294 "tracked digger" or is it more like the 8455 "backhoe"? I have found it a bit tricky with the names as I was brought up in the dear old Blighty tradition with "diggers / excavators" covering both "Tracked Excavators" and "Backhoe Loaders"!

2. What colour are they going for with the Excavator? We have seen both Red and Yellow recently... are they settling on one? I suppose I should also ask about stickers here too.

3. Will this be the "Flagship" Technic model of 2010? if so what sort of size are we looking at? 1800+ pieces? As meccanotwitchs mentions above I'd love to see a really big Technic set with a lot of working details too. Can you go into any more detail about the construction? Is it continuing the recent "brickless" builds?

4. I am aware that you stated the kit as having 4 actuators and 4 motors but were you able to see if the bucket moved independently of the boom arm? I have been tempted by some of the "diggers" in the past but I really don't like the idea of having the "scooping" motion of the bucket controlled for me.

With regards Technic in general, was there any indication of more pneumatic sets? I was brought up on the darn things and whilst the actuators are nice I miss my yards of rubber tubing :-D

Did they show off any of the other Technic sets for this year (8051 (Bike), 8052 (Container Truck) or 8053 (Mobile Crane))? If so are they a decent size?

I noticed that the recent 8041 set was a "Limited Edition" kit, I must admit I haven't seen to many Ltd Ed Technic sets recently, is this an indication that more are to come? If so how long are they likely to be around for?

Cheers,
Harv

By in United Kingdom,

Hi lust2luv,

Thanks for the linkie, first time I have seen that pic!

Looks like a cracking model if it is the Flaggy, I would like to think so as it looks like a nice build. This would be my first IR model (well, since the Barcode Reader back in the day!)!

I guess that wraps up a few of my questions to Huw but I think some still stand so I won't delete my post just yet :-)

Can't wait to read / see / hear about the rest of the 2010 Technic line-up!

Cheers,
Harv

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

what does ginny weasley new head piece look like, is it an orange colored hair that the collectable nurse has.

what female minifigs comes with the collectable minifigs series 2, i hope they are nice ones.

and the kingdoms theme, is there a red princess in the tower set,if there is what does it look like.

if you have pics that would be awsome thankx

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

AAAAAHH....I really envy you.
Please some more news about the second line of minifigs. I cannot believe you don't remember one of them!

And about "Kingdoms": since it is the theme I am more interested about, I am kind of scared that the fact they were not present at the fair could mean they are not going to product them anymore. Even if the sets where not present, do you have any other news?
Thank you for sharing.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

so huw do u mean that the minifigs wont be available in martins or newspaper shops ?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@theenigma, your Qs 1 and 2 are answered by the picture linked to by lust2luv (which incidentally is from the retailers' catalogue and I should really delete the link from here but seeing as it's been around for an age, I'll leave it)

Q3, there appear to be twp flagship products. The excavator will cost £140, I think, and come with PF components. The crane will be nearer £100 and won't come with PF, but they can be added. It looks very similar to 8421: 8 wheels, yellow, low cab, etc. but it uses a linear actuator to raise the boom. It might actually be a late addition to the lineup because it's not in the main retailers' catalogue: only on a flyer that came with it.

Q4, yes it is operated independently, with a LA.

The 'container truck' also uses a LA to operate the mechansim to unload the 'container' although it's not strictly a container at all: the vehicle more like one of those large skip lorries you have probably seen at your local tip.

The motorbike is red (again) and like all Technic bikes looks wicked :)

No more pneumatics this year, or limited edition ones, at least through normal retail channels.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@albero78, LEGO only show sets they that are offered to retailers in the UK at the toy fair. Last year we didn't get Space Police 3 in normal shops, although elsewhere in Europe you did. So all I would read into my observation is that Kingdoms won't be sold in the likes of TRU in the UK, only from brand stores and online.

As for the second line of minifigs, I have vague recollections of a vampire and a South American musician in green/red cape and maracas but that's about all.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

If you saw any Star Wars sets does the Wampa Cave come with the Snowspeeder or do you buy that seperately?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

the wampa cave comes with the speeder theres pics on flickr

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

hi can you explain a bit more about the atlantis and star wars sets you saw plz? and wat do you mean if the collectable figs wont be sold in whs where will they be sold?

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

@Huw:
South American Musicians?! My brother will go bad for those! And he's 19! I'll look forward to that myself as well. I just hope they bring 'em out!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hi Huw,

Many thanks for the replies, truly appreciated.

I have another question, I should have included it in my above post(s) but only just remembered :-)

The info on the Excavator is great but did you get any clues to the overall size / pieces for the other models in the 2010 range? I have seen quite a few more "sub-500" piece kits being released, whilst they are good for some I much prefer to buy something I can get stuck into!

With regards the container truck, it wouldn't be anything like 6668 "Recycle Truck" would it? I would love it to be a "Tech" version of that kit. It was one of the kits I used to really love playing with as a youngster :-D

Cheers,
Harv ;-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder what thew new Ford Angila is going to look like... I have a black MOC version of the orginal, and mabye I'll have to update it! Oh well.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Do you happen to remember some of the minifigs that came with Hogwarts, or what details it had (like if it came with Fluffy the 3-headed dog or the Whomping Willow tree)? Thanks!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@theenigma, yes it's a technic version of 6668, in blue. The container/skip is half-height though, and open at the top. It's probably 40cm long or so. It and the bike are both well over 500 pieces.

@bighobbit, no to both of those.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

a bit of math for an earlier comment in the thread:
If there are 16 minifigs and 60 in a box, and all minifigs are just as common (which they will not be according to the post) there is a 2% chance that at least 1 minifig is missing in a box. If a minifig is rare this chance increases.

So if they make 3 common minifigs for every 1 rare there is a 27% chance that a single box will not contain the rare minifig.
So: Don't get your hopes up, just start buying and figure out which ones are rare.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huw, can you tell us a little more about the Star Wars sets?

What does the Wampa look like finalized?

Did you get a good look at the new Greivous's Starfighter, what's changed?

What about the new minifigs on the Slave I? What does frozen Han Solo look like?

Thanks!

Gravatar
By in United States,

What did the new Atlantis sets look like?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The new Harry Potter and Prince of Persia sound epic (and so does the redesign of General Grievous). I'll definitely buy and review some of them.

BTW: Any news on Summer 2010 Miners?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don't think there will be Power miners in the summer :(

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Another question, sorry Huw.
Are there any new teachers in the hogwarts castle, or new students from Ravenclaw or Huffelpuff.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

just found some great high res pics of the new POP theme sets on the Hamleys uk website.

very cool

Gravatar
By in United States,

The title of this article sounds dirty... Oh, well! I envy you, with all of your new found insider knowledge!

Gravatar
By in Bolivia,

Many people are speculating about the quality of the plastic in the collectible minifigs. Since you were able to even touch them, do you think they were of normal LEGO quality or more like the toy story minifigs?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Huw when are the Harry Potter sets being released?
when you say the Mini-figs are being sold from normal stockists do mean like TRU or Tesco with other impluse sets etc?
and I'm worried when you say you handled her Pom-Poms!!?!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

So many sets which appeal to me come out this year! I'm gonna have to pick and choose!

Thanks for the pics R4-G9!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow cool pics R4-G9.

Cad bane's face is a epic fail although ayala looks nice.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Katdude180 and carding, I think you have twisted minds: I'm talking about the decorative balls she's holding: what did you think I meant?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Hang on a sec... THESE MINIFIGS HAVE STANDS!!! YES!!! I think people will buy these just for the stands...

Gravatar
By in United States,

i saw pics of the kingdoms sets on flickr. i hope this helps

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Hey hey hey, everyone's forgetting about Racers! :P

Huw, you didn't mention it in the topic, could to tell us if there were any there? I'm anxious to find out what 8022 Brick Street Escape is. :D

Thanks! :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@rifraphy, everyone forgets Racers: they are the same every year. I can't see the one you mention in the retailers' catalogue.

Gravatar
By in Guatemala,

Any idea about the SW sets prices?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey Huw,

Can you tell what the size approx for the clone turbo tank and general grievous' starfighter, compared to other sets? Thanks

Gravatar
By in United States,

that Toy Fair where one can take good pics can't come soon enough! I'm already preparing my priority list for this summer!

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Hello, I'm new.
As I understand it the collectibles will be invisible. That sucks! If they want to try to imitate the 'Specials' of Playmobil you should be able to see what you buy. Someone might be interested in 10 Indians for his Western while someone else wants 10 Cheerleaders for his football field. And 32 in a year is way too much to keep up.
Regards, Andy, Belgium

Gravatar
By in United States,

What does the portal to Atlantis look like?

Gravatar
By in Bolivia,

@Xialong: I really prefer that you can't know what is in the bags. Else all stores would ran out of cheerleaders and robots too fast and all we would have left would be scuba divers.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I also went to the London Toy Fair & having spoken to my LEGO rep. they informed me that 'Kingdoms' sets were not shown as it will be an exclusive to UK independent shops. They were not prepared to display them at the fair where national accounts would be asking about them. We should be given further news on new sets in coming months.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@grayie: hi! since you were at the toy fair also, can you please tell us some of the other mini figure collection series 2?? pleaseeee, I mean you have to remember a couple (at least) one other mini figure besides a vampire and south american musician. Please let us know! Thank You, Nick. :) P.S. I'm dieing to know!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

As long as Castle/Kingdoms can be purchased at S@H or my lego stores, I'll be fine. Not making some sets available at all to certain regions is terrible, in my book.

Gravatar
By in Bolivia,

Well s@h does not support a lot of places and LEGO stores do not exist in many of them. My country is the intersection of those sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Woah ,Woah c'mon guys Huw can't answer all these questions! give him some time, Huw take all the time you need to answer all of these questions. Oh, and @TransformR, they did show a shadow of the "portal to Atlantis" in the commercials but thats just a thought of what it might look like the "dead" sharks and warriors turned into dust and flew into it who knows if its the portal, check out lego.com for some trailers. Im only worried of how Emperor Palpatine will look like old version, Death Star version, or Clone Wars version...hmm.

Does this mean there won't be any Kingdoms sets sold outside of the UK?! I hope not! Please clarify this!!

Hi Huw,

I just want to ask about the new Harry Potter sets. Specifically Hogwarts Castle and The Burrow... What were they like?

Were the plates used the same as the old 8x8 stud tiles? Or Were there new base plates?

How about the minifigs? Were there new ones for Hogwarts Castle like Prof. Slughorn, Bellatrix, McGonagall, Tonks, Aurors, Death Eaters, etc.? Did they retain the flesh color?

And how would you describe the Castle? Much like the 5th one? Or the 3rd? Or the 1st?

And lastly, do you think these sets are promising? I mean, are they not just a repetition of the previous sets / models? I'm sure The Burrow will look great... But the rest... I just hope they're beyond expectations... most especially the Castle... I hope there's more neat stuff this time and new structures like the Astronomy Tower and the Great Hall.

I'm sorry for the long post and for the many questions I asked. I just missed seeing and collecting Harry Potter sets... Thanks in advance. :-)

I'm glad they're making an Atlantis underwater base. It really puzzled me when I didn't see one at my LEGO store.

By in Norway,

About Kingdoms. They are definitively being launched outside UK. I have seen them in a norwegian retailers catalouge, and they will hit the stores in june this summer. And if they are to be released in Norway , I`m pretty sure they are to be released in Poland to.

Hi Huw, can you explain what the new general grievous body looks like (what pieces or new pieces used). Thanks

By in United States,

Oh wow! I can't wait for Harry Potter and Prince Of Persia!

By in Poland,

@ Legoman72: Good. It's probably the best thing to look for this year.

By in United Kingdom,

That image has been doing the rounds for over two years. Generally believe to be a MOC that someone mocked up with box art for.

By in United States,

I saw some pictures of the Kingdoms legos on flickr. I would put the link here but i know that there cant be anything with confidential on here so you will just have to go see it yourself.

By in United States,

Does anyone happen to know if the theme Indiana Jones is going to be discontinued? There are a few scenes I would like as a set. :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

No more IJ and no more Power Miners, certainly this year.

@BrickBob09, Grevious is a completely new mould, tan with painted black features. He looked well wicked...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is there any news about any new ferrari sets?

Gravatar
By in United States,

that sucks. how could they end power miners without some kind of awesome monster being released at the end. im gonna go out and buy the temple of doom

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm disappointed about that Indy is ending but I'm sure that Prince Of Persia will be just as great or even better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ tman682 your awesome monster was the crystal king

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'd prefer if Lego makes a 'Lava king' to properly end Power miners.(if they discontinue at all)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@merkinized75 that would be so cool if they made the lava king and i hope the power miners dont go cus the rockmonsters are cool!!!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I personally am glad Ij is ending, but truely upset that Power Miners won't have anything new this year

By in Sweden,

The Big Excavator looks promising and a must have.

If the Mobile Crane is as previous modell but with linear actuators and the new PF, then it will be a run and buy this autumn...

The Race Truck is also tempting, but still just another in the crowd.

The mini excavator will be bought as soon as I can afford it, it will fit nicely on the Crane truck.

:p

By in United States,

It's too bad that they got rid of Indiana Jones. I was hoping that they would make that awsome tank from the third movie. Oh well. :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

That was a set i was hoping for too! :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thank you for the London report.
I am most excited that they are bringing back the Harry Potter sets. I believe that it is time to re-construct my total castle (All Hogwarts kits + MOC Extra towers, Quidage field/teams, Green House) on my counter. I'll probably need new base plates to hold the whole thing?

Gravatar
By in United States,

In regards to the Indiana Jones sets, you mentioned that they are discontinuing the series. Is it just for a certain region or world wide? And is it taking a year off or indefinitely discontinued?
Thanks in advance!
