Tips and Tricks #20

Posted by ,

Hello everyone, Tiago again with some more builds!

Today we're going back to City essentials that you can build in a few minutes!

Out of all the builds I've been doing since the beginning of the year this article features one of my favourite ones, I'll let you guys guess what it is!

Office Cubicle

The way all the geometry of the bricks works together on this build is just great. It is worth viewing the video even if you don’t care too much about the build itself and I promise you will learn something new.

In the end you get a cool office cubicle for your LEGO Cities complete with everything including a post-it note on the wall!

Luggage Scanner

When I wrote this article things were crazy with the world and I believe they still are to some degree (I hope I'm wrong when this goes live).

Times are changing and people aren’t allowed to travel as much and I for one miss queueing behind giant lines to have my luggage checked at the airport in machines like this!

I’m sure a lot of you miss travelling as well but at least we can start making some plans, and build our dream holiday starting with a LEGO airport!

Workbench

I’m not very handy with tools and my jaw drops on the floor looking on Youtube at what things people can build out of nothing!

My future self who won’t be scared of trying to do some serious work will need a workbench just like this one! I’m very good at following instructions though, so I can still handle IKEA furniture pretty well! https://youtu.be/vyQRoabhq0M

So what was your favorite? Choose wisely...

I love the Cubicle, but the Workbench is my favorite.

Great builds... I'm guessing the office is your personal favourite based on your enthusiastic description. Regarding the office office chair, if you flipped the modified 1x2 plt would the studs align with minifig legs?
As for my favourite, being a carpenter and furniture maker, I'll go for the workbench.

Once again, awesome.
So much detail and realism crammed into such small builds.
I am always amazed to see these things.

So bizarre to see a luggage scanner in Lego airport.

My favourite is by far the office cubicle! So amazing!

Just a suggestion, could you maybe have used some black grills for the luggage scanner?

I feel obligated to object to the toolbox. When I was in high school, I worked for a buy who builds wooden boats (some of which have appeared in famous movies). He made me make my own wooden toolbox. The logic there was that if you get one of those metal toolboxes, you _have_ to be able to close the lid to carry it anywhere, which means at some point you find yourself spending an hour or more trying to arrange everything just perfectly enough to get the latch engaged. The toolbox I made (and still own) is open on the top, has rails with notches cut into them on one side and one end, hooks to hold a hammer on the other side, and a few pockets to hold stuff that either gets used frequently or needs to be protected from other tools banging into them (like a banger chisel). I've been able to add a short-cut saw, a mini-sledge, and a wrecking bar that are all too long to actually fit down inside the toolbox because the toolbox's handle isn't attached to the top of a lid that won't close.

Unfortunately, minifigs have to settle for the metal versions, which don't hold anything at all.

The amount of praise being given to a cubicle is absurd out of principle
