We did it!
Posted by Huw,We successfully completed our Dash in a Day challenge yesterday!
Eleven of us cycled the equivalent of the distance between London and Billund to raise money for Fairy Bricks. We aimed to cover 1100Km but a couple of riders went a bit mad and did over 200Km each which took our total to over 1441Km, with a combined elevation gain over 10,000 metres.
The weather was not great: my ride was mostly dry, as it was for those in mainland Europe, but several of the UK riders had torrential rain to contend with.
We smashed our fundraising target, so thank you to everyone who sponsored us. If you'd still like to contribute, you can do so at GoFundMe.
Several of the team took the opportunity to ride to their local LEGO brand stores so you can view pictures of them while there, plus a few others, after the break.
Ed at the Brighton store, which was a 160Km round-drip from home:
Gary at Watford:
And afterwards at home soaking wet:
Ralph rode 100Km to the Leipzig store in Germany, then back again:
Jesper and Caspar started and ended at the LEGO House in Billund:
Martin had glorious weather for his ride in the mountains in central France
I had a some early drizzle and mist in the Hampshire hills close to home.
Elspeth and her friend rode in the beautiful Yorkshire dales on single-speed bikes.
Jon rode 100Km to the seaside in the rain, then back again.
Overall I think everyone enjoyed themselves, despite the weather, and at the time it was great knowing that we were all cycling at the same time, even though we could not do so together.

In my experience, a stop by the LEGO store makes any trip worth it. Way to go!

There was a crazy thunderstorm yesterday, hopefully it wasn't the case for any of you. Actually looked pretty dangerous, I heard a few houses were hit hard.
Well done to all who participated.
Didn't know central France had sights like that
Well done!
It's Victory Day for that, too!
