Do you have any suggestions?

Posted by ,

As we approach winter it is likely that we will be spending more time working on and improving the site. So, we want to hear your ideas and suggestions.

We already receive quite a few through the contact form but some are quite demanding and potentially require a lot of work, and it can be hard to judge the benefit and whether it's worth implementing them.

With that in mind, I've just put together a page to both gather ideas, and allow others to support them (a bit like LEGO Ideas, in that regard). We should then be able to tell which ideas are popular and worth pursuing.

Are there any features you'd like us to add? Does anything on the site need improving? Do you have ideas for news articles? Any specific sets you'd like us to review? Let us know on the new suggestions page.

We are not going to make any promises but if ideas gather sufficient support we will certainly look at implementing them if it's at all practical.

Many thanks to BrickJonas for the awesome suggestion box image!

By in Slovakia,

it is possible to mark set as not showing in my collection stats ? I got in my collections also many sets from my childhood. But sometimes I want to keep track only on my latest collection. So some option or filter should be great - so main stats next to your name on main page could show different numbers

Thank you for always trying to make Brickset better! This is such a great idea, and it really shows your dedication to this site and the many people who love it so much! This is why Brickset is the best Lego fan site out there!!! Thank you!!!

I'd be interested in articles on (private) selling. Covering things like best time of year for certain types of sets, where to sell, etc. Thinking things like ebay, Facebook marketplace etc, and mainly for 2nd hand, although in my case also some bnib gwps.

I can't think of anything big. Really the only ideas coming to mind are easier access to the forums and/or a better way to set your avatar.

How about a Photo of the Day? You know, where people can send pics of their creations, scenes with mini figures, stuff like that. It could be a fun community effort and get some photographers going.

I bought a set without minifigures. How can I delete them from my minifig list?

Actually yeah, that's a good point. The ability to remove minifigs from your owned list. We need that.

How about getting rid of the popup ads on your site? They are so incredibly intrusive and obnoxious.

Just a reminder, I am not collecting suggestions in the comments. Please use the new page to submit them.

I find it weird when people comment under posts about ads, if they can comment they obviously have an account and therefore won't see ads if they are logged in.

A few months back I remember seeing a comment by (presumably) a father who was complaining about the type of ads that were appearing on brickset when his child used the site. 1. the ads are based on the users search history, has nothing to do with brickset. 2. if you can make a comment then you can stay logged in and hence get rid of ads.

By in Netherlands,

I would absolutely love 'dark mode': black background and white text, or perhaps even better the possibility to choose the shade/colours of the text as well. I have all pages and apps where possible in dark mode, even during daytime. All this brightness hurts my eyes.
Anyway, I am happy that this is something you can vote for on the user suggestion section.

Option to keep track of loose and sealed sets

I really like the recent additions of "unique" and "rare" parts lists to the inventories. Quite handy!
