Sesame Street reveal imminent
Posted by TheBrickPal,LEGO has teased the announcement of the upcoming Ideas set 21324 123 Sesame Street on social media.
The short video features several objects related to these iconic Muppets, such as a fish bowl, rubber duck, and even a runaway cookie that a certain blue monster appears to be after!
We should expect a reveal to happen any day now.
What do you think? Are you excited? Let us know in the comments below!

So excited for this
Odd to have a stickered box of paperclips in the official tease. I was hoping Bert would get a pigeon or two.
Can. Not. Wait.
Depends on the minifigs. Some characters, even with special parts, don't translate well into LEGO. The Cookie Monster shown doesn't look bad at all. Although his furriness is hard to translate into LEGO.
But, this is exactly the kind of license LEGO needs to be pursuing; not pointless partnerships with fashion labels (especially Levi's and Adidas, both of whom have gotten into controversy in the past couple years). My Dad watched it as a kid in the '70s, and had toys from the show. So did I. With Sesame Street; KFOLS, TFOLS, and AFOLs are very familiar with it. LEGO can do Duplo, regular sets, and large premium format sets such as this. Hopefully, this becomes a long-lived partnership, and we get some Muppets sets, which I've wanted for years.
Still, I'm not crazy about how new episodes moved to HBO from the typically free-to-air (albeit, we never got anything OTA where I live) PBS. Not fair in my book.
Oh yeah get it on straight away, I’ll be a buyer most definitely LEGO
Very excited, it looks like an excellent set from the leaks!
However, I'm eager to see how Lego explains away its long standing policy of "No new molds in Ideas sets..." some people aren't going to take it too well!
I can’t wait for this set. No doubt I’m buying two upon release. One to open, one to keep preserved for all time. Maybe a third for cuddling purposes! :D
Though the show, and thus the set likely as well, are not at all my cuppa tea, I find that teaser brilliant!
Very excited. Day one purchase for me.
Good that reveals have been happening lately. Ideas and Creator Expert are the best lines, so anything released for them is good! Can't wait to see the globe, and the next modular as well!
Interesting. I’m now hoping for Muppets sets.
Images if this set have been out for weeks with all the leaks. Just search Lego Sesame Street set on Yotube :)

I think it'll be fine if this is the one exception to the rule, none of the other Ideas sets have warranted a new mold

This is a really interesting thing that has gone unnoticed to many people. At some point in the last year Lego changed the rules without telling people and now new moulds are allowed presumably with the success and growth of Lego Ideas in the past few years it's getting a bigger budget. At least that's what I have heard anyways...
I have had Bert and Elmo from this set in hand for a few weeks now after seeing them on Ebay and they are amazing quality and the printing is awesome!

I'm really excited about this set. I especially like that it isn't another huge set with 3000+ bricks, so that the price is also much lower and much more affordable among the many high-price sets of the last few months.

That's definitely the kind of change that would have been announced. They made an announcement blog post just to let people know that they *wouldn't* be changing the required amount of supporters, so I doubt that they'd change such a key rule and just let it fly under the radar. But if anyone has a source I'd be interested to see it

Nope, it wasn't announced. Under "How It Works" at the following link, they state "Should we deem it necessary, we may introduce new LEGO element molds, new cloth or other non-brick elements in the final official LEGO Ideas set. This would done on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the LEGO Ideas Product Development team." That's what was in the Instagram post that @Brick_Clicker saw. From what I remember, people first noticed the change after seeing the leaked minifigures.

They still have the line that says "We do not accept submissions that include proposals for new LEGO element molds, new cloth or other non-brick elements." So I don't quite see how the policy has changed. Do we have a copy of the previous policy to compare?

I don't think so, but the difference is that now they're saying they will make new molds if needed. I'm not sure of the exact wording before the change, but I do know that they wouldn't make new molds at all. It seems like the policy is now "your submission can't have new molds in it but we'll make them if we want to", which is kind of confusing.
This is again another Idea set that people supported because it was a beautiful set, and the final product does not in my opinion hold a candle to the original idea. I am really dissapointed with how this set and a few other Ideas sets have turned out.
Interesting choice of picture for the article...cookie monster soon to be unleashed globally on unsuspecting owners of 10246-1
^ Best shot we have from the video! :-)
If it has Bert and Ernie in it, I'm in!
Don't care much for sesame street, but that minifig head is is majestic!
So pleased it isn't another £200 plus set. The original submission, whilst I liked the concept, would have been another space hogger, that would have involved me lumping it from room to room.
This will be a great family christmas treat.

That seems along the right lines. I think they don't want anyone to deliberately put in something that has to use a new or retired element to work, but are willing make something new if it's on their own terms. The minifigures for instance could have been made with printed heads, but Lego knew that it would sell better (and look better as well) if they used new molds for things like their heads.
The "ADULTS WELCOME" at the end seems particularly strange for a young child's television program.

Considering it's a program that's been around for over 50 years, that doesn't seem too strange. I'd argue the Sesame Street fanbase that's older than 35 is larger than the group under 35
Hoping for a CMF line like the Simpsons more than sets to build with Sesame Street figs included. I don't want to build Bert and Ernie's apartment but I'd definitely want Bert and Ernie figs.
I am 100% down for this. It's been a while since we've gotten a theme like this for younger audiences. Unless you count Super Mario.
Guess Lego's marketing didn't get the memo that Cookie Monster has been promoting 'healthy eating' for some years now and doesn't go nuts over cookies anymore.
I think this sets going to end up being most popular in the USA. I remember watching it as a kid over here in the UK, but even then i wasn't that interested in it.. and when its not been on any mainstream channels for 20 years now... well I know my Grand kids have zero interest in it.
Cannot wait.

Didn't they use that policy already with the Flinstones set ? the cloth for the roof of the car is defnitely a new element made specifically for it even though the submission had a brick-built one.
Or maybe they just updated it by adding the new molds part ?
This looks so cute and fun! Can't wait!
As someone who watched Sesame Street this morning with a 2 year old and just nom’d on a cookie while reading this... I’m excited.

Agreed. They don't want people assuming they'll get a new element with a set...but if Lego themselves determine that it's worth the extra production cost to make a cloth roof for a Flintstones car or minifig head molds for Sesame Street characters, they'll do it. This may also be an indication that they plan to use those molds for other sets. A CMF series of Sesame Street minifigs would surely be welcomed by many people.
As for the set, I liked the original Ideas submission, but what I've seen of the final set looks like quite a nice improvement with the inclusion of Hooper's store and the courtyard. I will include this in my city (without the Sesame Street Muppet characters). Finally, a CONCAVE corner build for a change instead of all the modular corners!

I just got clarification from Hasan Jensen on Lego Ideas:
"Members may still not suggest new elements. In that regard nothing has changed.
But if we, during the development of a LEGO Ideas set, determine a new element may be necessary we can introduce such. "
The black “adults welcome” at the end reminds me of the 18+ design, but I would think they wouldn’t pick 18+ for a currently running children’s show. Makes me wonder what the suggested age will be. Doesn’t matter to me, I’m an adult who will probably buy it anyway, but I could see it being very confusing to the average parent stumbling across it for their young child and saw 12+, 16+, 18+. Would be cool if they ran with the license and made some younger sets too, but I don’t think that would happen with Ideas.

Theres no such thing as 'scare quotes', stop being foolish and trying to find offence in something where there isn't any. They're just simple quotation marks indicating a catch all term. Not something put there to frighten people like you are attempting to suggest.
No wonder there so much throwing of the term 'snowflake' when people can get offended over the term 'healthy eating' like you have.
And this is going nuts over cookies? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuSuyZpqTtg
@Weepy_Donuts:
But remember that Bert & Ernie had that one episode where Bert sold his paperclip collection to buy a soap dish for Ernie's rubber ducky, and Ernie sold his rubber ducky to buy a box to store Bert's paperclip collection. That special was broadcast nearly 42 years ago today, and it's still one of the most famous Sesame Street sketches of all time.
@cody6268:
PBS still gets them. They just don't get them _first_ anymore. I think they get them delayed, maybe a couple months to a year after HBO. The upside is that HBO is funding the show up front now, so PBS isn't reliant on pledge drives to actually finance production of new episodes.
@ArmoredBricks:
Remember, this is 2020. The molded head is just a tease. What you'll really get is a plain blue minifig and some of those white plastic stickers that'll flake off in a couple years.
@fakespacesquid:
Both Doc Brown and Peter Venkman got upgraded hair when they shifted to Dimensions. We had to wait until Dimensions to get a janky version of Slimer (and the Firehouse for a good Slimer). Steamboat Willie only got hats because they squeaked them through the process for the CMF line. Thats just the stuff that _did_ get new parts in subsequent releases.
The key distinction on the new molds issue is that a project that's just "make _X_ mold" will be rejected out of hand, while if they end up deciding that _X_ mold is necessary to make _Y_ project feasible, that's their prerogative. The important question is what happens if you submit a project that isn't just "make _X_ mold", but is clearly dependent on _X_ mold to work.
@yellost:
Cloth bits don't count as they aren't injection-molded. We found out with Detective's Office that the only reason they were able to make a chromed mirror is because the part they chromed technically counts as a "paper" element or something of that sort.

Assuming Cookie Monster has the same lifecycle as a person and was therefore already an adult when he first appeared in 1966, that would make him in his 70s now. Not bad going for a cookie addict. Supports what I suspected all along: cookies are good for you. I’m getting some Marylands tomorrow!

Take it easy. The term “scare quotes” is a very common phrase meant to indicate quotation marks put where they don’t normally appear. If you look at my response again, you’ll find that I didn’t take offense to anything; I merely said I was unsure why the scare quotes were there. Judging by your overreaction to a mild correction, I think your branding me a snowflake is laughable.
As far as that correction, I was simply correcting a common misconception. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve heard people saying that Cookie Monster has become Veggie Monster, or that he doesn’t like cookies any more, etc. Yes, there are times when he shows restraint. But I watch Sesame Street with my kids, and I can attest that he still goes nuts over cookies.

Won't buy this, I'm saving up to get Mos Eisley Cantina in about a year. I saw the leak for all figure, and they look great! "The "ADULTS WELCOME" at the end seems particularly strange for a young child's television program."
This kind of surprised me at the end of the video, but then I realized that this really is set for adults. For one, it isn’t Duplo or a 4+ set, and it also is for a show that children don’t watch anymore.
My kids have maybe seen a YouTube video of Elmo and have heard the C is for Cookie song on Alexa, but they really have no idea what Sesame Street is. We’ve cut the cord and Disney+ and Netflix are really the only thing the kids know. They do occasionally watch PBS via their streaming channel, but I’ve never even seen Sesame Street offered. Sadly the show seems to have become irrelevant. I think that the Sesame Street town halls they had recently were interesting, but I believe they were on CNN, which we don’t have access to, and I didn’t really care to get access to as my kids are completely unfamiliar with the show and characters.
I have to say that I think this set really is targeted towards adults, despite the content being made for preschoolers. I grew up with Sesame Street (and Mr. Rogers), but not everything lasts forever. I suppose these shows were the victims of too much choice, when I was a kid aside from Saturday morning cartoons and the after school cartoons at 4:00, PBS was the only channel that had programming for preschoolers during the day. Once cable became the norm, kids had nonstop entertainment on Nickelodeon and everything changed.
I’m intrigued by this set but doubt I’ll get it. But wouldn’t it be great if a follow up set was a PBS telethon and it came in a tote bag.
The Adults welcome may refer to the image of a Lego spaceman with two alien eyes on his helmet may be a bit scary for children.

I've seen the teaser video and honestly it doesn't look at all like something Lego would make.

Was excited by the full Modular-looking 123 Sesame Street fan-created brownstone — much less so with what they're shipping in the end.

The leaks suggest that the little white bird as seen in e.g. Jasmine from Disney CMFs is going to be used to represent pigeons.
As for characters, the leaks suggest Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Elmo and Cookie Monster plus a trash can with Oscar's head (only the head).
