Today's recommendation in the $50-100 category has been made by Green_Bricks:

75968 4 Privet Drive is perfect for both fans of LEGO and fans of Harry Potter; it doesn’t require you to already own other sets, it offers the perfect experience all by itself.

It contains the whole Dursley family, along with Harry & Hedwig, Ron and Dobby, so there are ample opportunities for recreating scenes from the movie.

Interior details include the cramped cupboard under the stairs, the family living room (complete with letters flying through the chimney!), and Harry’s bedroom complete with all his Hogwarts equipment.

The exterior is perfectly dull and suburban, and features authentic details such as foliage, drain pipes and a staggered tile design on the roof. It also contains the Weasley’s flying Ford Anglia, which as well as looking great as a normal civilian vehicle, can be used to free Harry from his barred up bedroom window using a chain hidden in the openable trunk of the car.

Also, when building as a family, the younger children could build the car and play with the minifigures, whilst older helpers take care of the main house build. Another pro of the build was that there were very few stickers, and most stickers included were straightforward to apply.

Overall, I think this would make the perfect gift out of all the sets in this price range, because it pleases everyone!

By in United Kingdom,

This is a nice set, and at £65 for nearly 800 pieces it's pretty good value - especially if you can find a discount like I did. The house looks quite respectable on display. I wasn't sure about the roof tile texture, but in person I find it quite effective. The interior is good, though the stairs seem a little bulky with their 2x4 brick construction. The letters down the chimney function works well, as does the window breaking function. I really like the stickered details e.g. the Potter and Dursley family photos, the boarded up door, and Harry's little shelf under the stairs with the toy horses from the film. Nice minifig selection, although I was only moderately satisfied with Vernon and Dudley. The car is a nice add-on too.

This is a wonderful set, especially at the 20% off Amazon currently has it at!

I like this set as well. As the LEGO sales person said to me in the store when I got it, it's not common to see houses in IP themes, and they've done a really nice job with this one.

Our family really like this set, picked it up for £42.99 in late September and as a playset we've had a heap of fun with it. our little HP Lego world is growing all the time but this was one of the more fun sets added to it recently.

By in Australia,

I would’ve rather an Order of the Phoenix version for consistency with the other sets, and I don’t need another Anguilla. Maybe include the playground instead with Ron and Dobby replaced by Mrs Figg and a Dementor or two.

Still, terrific set!

I'd felt like my LEGO collection had a shortage of realistic-looking houses and cars. This filled both of those niches, plus the parts with the Dursleys were the ones I remembered the most as a kid.

Roof detail is beautiful.

The mail through the fire place is a great feature, together with the bed under the stairs and the break-away barred window. The house and car are a large improvement over 4728, especially as the ground floor extends backwards to make a decent sized living room. The six mini-figs are quite generous for the size of the set, with Doby and the adults unique to this set. Currently on sale in the UK at John Lewis, Symthstoys and Amazon for £50.

Holiday gift guide articles for individual sets feels really excessive. Never mind the usual price category recommendation roundups, but going set by set all holiday season is going to get tedious.

You do know that no one forces you to read every article?

As for the set, I got this quite cheap and our eight-year-old built it recently after a Harry Potter DVD marathon we did, and she really loves it. We currently have it mixed into our Friends city layout and even there it fits perfectly. Really great set all around.

Groan...another HP set I'm going to have to add to my wishlist. Why does TLG have to keep designing so many super sets at so many price levels in so many different themes? :-)
