Discontinued sets and polybags available at Market Toys
Posted by Huw,There's no doubt that the pandemic has had a devastating impact on the high street, from which it may never fully recover.
Independent toy shops are already thin on the ground in the UK and I suspect many will be forced to shut up shop if normal trading is not possible in the run-up to Christmas.
One such shop that is hoping to avoid this fate is Market Toys in Bideford, Devon. Its owner Peter contacted me this week to say that he's spent the current lockdown setting up a website at which you can buy the discontinued and rare sets and minifigs that he has in stock, as well as other toys.
So, take a look what's on offer. It's all reasonably priced and of course any purchases you make will help Peter stay afloat.

Shipping internationally not available, in case you were curious like me.
Yes definitely support your local independents!
Screw Amazon and their "shop before December" adverts - wait for Dec 2nd if you can't shop online, and don't buy your toys from supermarkets.
Support the shops who are closed now!!
As soon as I open that link it redirects me to a chat service and nothing more happens. Can't even enter a message, only close the tab. Weird.
If anyone in the Worcester area wants to support another local toy store, then I have a suggestion.
Toys & Games of Worcester in Worcester City Centre is a great place to hit up. They have set up a website which offer free local delivery up to the WR1 - WR5 postcodes on purchases over £25 and free nationwide delivery over £50 or if your passing free contact free Click & Collect.

I love their actual toy shop on Broad Street in Worcester, although small its amazing and has one of the best LEGO selection in the city even better than what The Entertainer offers. They are an official LEGO stocklist.

At this rate small stores will cease to exist while big stores are given a pass.
Wish they had the power miners polybags :(
I wonder how the Bricks & Minifigures franchise is doing here in the USA?

I have a friend who runs one in Montana and he had a rough time of it when closed down and then when he reopened he could no longer host parties. But he's doing okay now that he can stay open as long as he keeps number of customers down.

Yeah it’s a great little shop. Only been in once this year (due to Covid) but I bought the Baby Yoda 75318 to help support them.
Bit cheeky I know but as we are on the subject of independents can I plug mine:-

We are based in St Albans, Herts, UK and have over 800 sets in stock, both new and pre-loved, the majority of which are discontinued and rare.
The bricks'n'mortar shop is closed at the moment but is normally open 6 days a week.
Agree with this. My parents live in Worcester and my kids love going to that shop, because it has such a good range of Lego. It can also sometimes have some sets from previous seasons, which has been helpful. We all need to support local independent retailers as much as we can at the moment.
(By the way, for US readers, we are talking about Worcester, England, not Worcester MA)

"Although there is a range of polybags, many of them are Sun and Mail newspaper giveaway ones and so there are still quite a lot of stocks of these on BL and ebay for better prices than these. "
Unfortunately BL & Ebay sellers dont pay rent, VAT, tax, min wage etc.
Support your local independents!
