By in United States,

I'm honestly shocked the x-wing with that few pieces looks as great as it does. And General Jan Dodonna? What!? Amazing.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

figures look good... too bad the print quality will be bad in real life.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This might be my first TIE fighter but I am not a big fan of that X-wing at all

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Is it just me or do both the X-Wing and Tie fighter seem slightly smaller than before?

Gravatar
By in United States,

General Jan Dodonna! Finally!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The downsized x-wing and tie fighter look waaay better than I thought they were going to be. I’m pleasantly surprised.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh thank goodness they went back to 3-wide for the X-Wing engines. Those 4-wide Technic pieces looked ridiculous.

But hold the phone. That looks like a new part.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Mando set is great, Xwing and TIE, while not as bad as I was expecting given the reduced size/ part count, I am glad I picked up the 2017/2018 versions.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

That X-Wing actually looks pretty sweet, but did we really need another Millennium Falcon Microfighter.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Falcon would be a more worthy purchase with a different Han variant, or at least with the stripe on his legs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My Lord, ANOTHER Falcon microfighter? The second one only went off LEGO Shop last year!

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

These all look off-proportion and kinda crappy. No doubt kids will like them but personally I’ll go with the Brickvault MOC variants.

Gravatar
By in Jordan,

I like the X-wing, and can see myself buying one as a starting point for a more detailed MOC. The TIE is a little too chibi for my tastes though.

Points taken away from the tie fighter... Really lego a striker pilot that doesn't make sense. "

I think there are normal TIE pilots with those helmet markings. You can see them in A New Hope

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the scale-back here, newcomers should be able to get the iconic vehicles without paying $100 for each.

The color mismatch between brick white and sticker white is just awful, but that's nothing new.

Yep TIE pilots have several variant marks on their helmets, and the silver stripes are not exclusive to the TIE Striker pilots.

I don't know what to think of these sets since I have the last two (and larger) variants of both. I might Bricklink the figures I want and skip the sets since I thin I prefer the older versions. But, I am glad that by lowering the price point Lego has just brought these sets back into affordability for fans who weren't ready to spend $70-$80 on a single starfighter; so I think its a win overall even if they are not really for me as somebody who owns the older sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m very surprised by the X-Wing and Tie Fighter. I’ll probably end up getting a few Tie Fighters because I love how they look! Micro fighter is whatever

Gravatar
By in United States,

I absolutely love these. I was somewhat concerned about them scaling back to make them more affordable, but it seems to have paid off. These look really good.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like both those more moderately scaled ships- sure, the 2018/9 larger versions of each are better, and through iteration and increasing price they were steadily being refined, but those are iconic enough ships that they should be available at much more reasonable prices than they have been. And these are a very good compromise between the incredibly compromised 4+ versions, and the last system scaled versions. And nicely in the middle price wise too.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Hey, it's another X-wing figher! That's about the 20th one of those, right?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There are some parts of the X-Wing that are better than the 2018 version. The engines protrude past the front of the wings, and they are nice smooth curves going all the way back. The 2018 one had massive gaps behind the grey piece to accommodate the rubber bands. I would have liked to have seen 2x2 round tiles in the engine intakes with that T-shaped thing printed on it. That was something the 2012 one had going for it.
I don't like the new nose, but I don't mind that they switched it up as the previous one wasn't accurate either. I have a really nice custom nose cone module but I haven't been able to attach it to my x-wing MOC.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Mando set is a must-buy, not a Microfighter fan, haven't got a minifig-scale X-Wing for years and despite Dodonna I'm not convinced by this one, and seeing this TIE is making me really regret missing out on the Solo one.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Tip for anyone who likes the new price points, but not the loss of accuracy, and is not to bothered about the figures, part out the sets and buy them as individual parts on Bricklink, managed to put together the solo TIE for approx. £35 that way, and the R1 Y-wing for around £40-£45

Gravatar
By in United States,

Smaller TIE fighter means more affordable fleet building (well, hopefully)... awesome!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The TIE and the X-Wing look... really good. I’m not sure what that transparent cheese slope is supposed to be on the micro Falcon though.

Edit: Oh. A “windshield” for Han. I’d say throw the micro sets in the trash and bring back the midi-scale any day. Those were awesome, and it’s a shame they didn’t make a ton of Star Wars vehicles in that size.

Yes I think the new X-Wing's cannons and the upper area where the action level was on the 2018 model look much better in this new set, more greeblies and nice details. But something about the decrease in scale still looks off to me... X-Wings are surprisingly large vehicles and this new scale seems to downplay that. But again, I am not really the target audience am I? This is better for the new Lego fans than the old.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

The X-Wing is pretty good despite my doubts.
The Tie Fighter is my preferred model in this wave of sets.
I plan to buy a few to reinforce the might of my imperial army. :-)
And of course, I'm glad to see a full beskar Mando, at last.

The database says $40 and $50 USD.

I’m really happy that they scaled them back. Smaller and more affordable for the kids, and adults still have plenty of big stuff to get too.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

It doesn't matter that sets like this have been sold before. These are for new buyers, kids between 7ish and 12ish. And they are great: nice size, details and price. Plus you get Luke, Leia, Han and a Stormtrooper. All you need are similar sets with Chewie, Vader and the two droids and you have every single important Star Wars character. (I can't think of any others worth mentioning)

If you look at the prices on LEGO.com, you can see that the X-wing is only 50$, and the Tie Fighter is only 40$. I get it, the way LEGO Star Wars prices have been going, it would seem that you were accurate, but please check your facts before making a salty comment.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Looks like I'm adding another X-Wing to the collection, and maybe even the TIE.

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

The 75298: Tauntaun vs AT-AT Microfighters can be seen on the hi-res pic of the back of 75295's box ;)

So it is 5 sets officially disclosed :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

I agree with most - I'm just happy to see the iconic vehicles come back at more affordable prices, and I'm glad to see that they look fairly decent, too. I'm looking forward to all of the comparison reviews, and to see how these models will look beside the recent (more detailed and expensive) models.

...besides, they finally managed to get the astromech bodies to face the correct way! :)

Ever heard of Luke's Landspeeder? :D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The solar panels on the TIE are pretty nice. With a modified cockpit they could make a respectable Rebels TIE.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

75299 is the only actual new set, imo the others only have new minifigs and some design reworking I'm not interested in, but kids will like them.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Come on Lego, please give us a new TIE Interceptor!

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

The smaller X-Wing and TIE sets look amazing. Might be finally able to get the X-Wing (well, I could get the old one, but I can't find it anywhere to buy).

Only slightly disappointed with the Millennium Falcon microfighter. I know it would be hard, but I was expecting it to be the Kessel Run one. Or that it would at least have a Lando figure according to the Episode IX.

Good catch! That tauntaun is a fun design.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

I actually like some of the changes on this new X-wing, and am extremely happy that LEGO finally made a Dodonna figure. They need to start making more never-before-seen Original Trilogy characters to keep these remakes from getting stale.

Kinda funny that Han's torso print is obviously photoshopped on. Clearly they've yet to fix their skin-tone-on-black problem.

And in larger quantities than the Nebulon-B.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm not big into Star Wars but the X-Wing and Imperial TIE Fighter are big surprises to me!

The X-Wing especially as it's slightly smaller overall than past X-Wings (Lego's website has the dimensions listed, where this one measures 31cm length, 28cm width and 8cm height) and is of course a bit less detailed due to having far less pieces, but at half the price? It's a no brainer, as long as you like what you see! AND, I noticed that it does NOT use rubber bands this time!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My Favourites are the Trouble on tattoine and the Tie fighter but I might get that Micro fighter for the minifig...
I would like to see a new sith infiltrator, the Gungnam submarine & Imperial shuttle!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Doesn't look as bad as I expected. A real shame that LEGO isn't using the 6 x 6 dish hatch for the tie fighters now. The prices for those pieces are ridiculous thanks to all the amazing tie fighter MOCs. Either way, I can't wait to get my hands on the new Mando figure :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

@minishark1000 said:
"Is it just me or do both the X-Wing and Tie fighter seem slightly smaller than before? "

Yes, they are. I heard that TLG heard feedback that people wished for cheaper sets to get some of these classic ships. So, cheaper sets generally mean smaller sets and/or less detailed sets. So, these 2 are definitely along those lines. I also heard that other sets in the winter 2021 line will be similar.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Scaling of the X-Wing is different than we've seen before, but interesting... as is the completely new nose design. Might pick that one up. The wings look pretty great, and there's ACTUALLY REAR LANDING GEAR!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The X wing looks pretty good at that size. The price points seem more reasonable for the piece counts compared to the increasing prices on mid to larger sets that we have been seeing over the past few years. I’d like to see the x wing and tie side by side to the previous versions to compare how much smaller they are.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not bad. Will definitely pick up the X-wing Fighter, and the Mando set. Not sure my collection needs the the TIE, though I do love that the "evil" droid is named NI-L8.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I could see them making a Tie-Bomber in this scale.

Me: casually sits back and waits for fans to go nuts.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Finally!
A few Star Wars sets I can plausibly afford that aren’t battle packs or micro fighters!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thank you Lego! An affordable x-wing at last! May get this, we'll see :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

Perhaps a downsized millennium Falcon? That would be great.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I'm really happy they downsized these! Finally the X-Wing and TIE can be bought if you are on a modest budget for once. I think the scale looks great!
If you want a larger, more detailed one you can always hunt down the previous releases. But now many more people will be able to get them without spending about 100 euro for a single spaceship that is supposed to be a standard starfighter. And they look good too!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope they were trying to make this spoiler free and maybe eventually we'll get Cobb Vanth in another set

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Judging by the connection to the main fuselage, it looks like the wings/solar panels of the new TIE fighter are built around a recolored one piece wing mold from last year's 75237, a 4+ version of the craft, unexpected, yet obvious and ingenious part usage and a clever cost saving measure.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I would agree with most commenters, kudos to lego for realizing that the sets were getting a little out of hand in size and affordability for kids (afterall this is a kids toy). Time to scale back a bit and remember who the core builders are! We Afols have plenty of great sets to choose from. Let's get the next Generation building.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Another X-wing.... really!!?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I didnt even realise the x-wing had been downscaled back when I first saw the leaked pics. Really great job on that. Though, Im definitely not the target audience though, no official set will ever even approach most MOCs as a display piece so I cant see myself ever buying an X-wing set again.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@peterlmorris :
It's not one of the giant Minions goggles, so I have to agree with you there. They guffed it on the cannons, though. Invert the umbrella stands and slide the radar dishes on from the long end, and you'll improve the looks considerably.

@Zordboy :
Not. Even. Close. If you count the Disney chuff and the X-Mas Wing, this is the tenth minifig-scale version. There have also been two UCS releases, the 4+ thing, and two Microfighters. Where they really killed it was microscale versions. Besides the original clamshell 2-pack, there have been four regular polybags, three foil packs, a Planet Series version, four in-store builds, and three Advent Calendar models, for a total of 16 minis. It never got a keychain, though. Still, that makes this the 31st X-Wing variant of all time. Before anyone tries to second-guess me, I've been able to identify key differences between all of the minifig versions, both UCS versions, both Microfighters, and all of the microscale versions. For the latter, one of them (Kabaya polybag 6963 vs the first clamshell version 4484 ) came down to a switch from greys to bleys, and another of them ( SWCOMIC1 foil pack vs the Day 10 build from Advent Calendar 7958 ) came down to updates to two molds (1x1 tile w/ clip and 1x2 jumper plate).

@B_Space_Man :
I do miss the midi-scale stuff. I've got the Falcon sitting on a mandible of my 1st Edition UCS Falcon, and I just parked the Nebulon B next to my Star Destroyer. Those three are pretty much it, though.

@AddictedToStyrene :
Ben.

@Your_Future_President :
Don't expect the Falcon to go below $100 and stay minifig scale. That's the price point of the first and simplest version, and that has not aged well. I can't see them being able to make it any smaller than that without making it look like a joke, nor can I see them keeping the piece count that low while giving it a needed facelift.

@Kazashimo :
Every kid is a new customer, and every SW fan will want some form of X-Wing. So yes, a new X-Wing. They will continue to release them regularly for as long as the theme still has legs.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Hmmm, Trouble on Tatooine, Tauntaunt vs AT-AT, maybe the Tie Fighter and surely an unrevealed set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another MF micro fighter? Really?

Gravatar
By in Greenland,

" I don't know what to think of these sets since I have the last two (and larger) variants of both. "

This is exactly what I came here to say.

Gravatar
By in United States,

75300 NI-L8... hehehe nice!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am actually liking these I didn’t pick up the last OT x-wing so this is nice and I like the prices even better just can’t wait for a size comparison.

Gravatar
By in United States,

glad the new X-wing goes back to the 6212 size/piece count range. It's time for them to stop making regular non-UCS sets bigger and bigger with increasing price tags.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A Star Wars line where not every set is $10-20 extra expensive? Nice.

This the third time we're getting a Microfighter Falcon though, and the only differences I can spot right away are the loading dock between the prongs and the satellite dish. Would've rather they did a re-release than a full blown new set for something like that but oh well.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As anticipated, I think 75300-1 Imperial TIE Fighter and 75301-1 Luke Skywalker's X-wing Fighter both look excellent. Neither model matches its immediate predecessor in detail but certain compromises were definitely worthwhile given the prices. The cost of the X-wing has actually been cut in half when compared with 75218-1 X-wing Starfighter in the UK!

I agree with those hoping for more entirely new vehicles and subjects from Star Wars: The Clone Wars but perhaps they will be forthcoming in future. After all, if these sets perform suitably well then LEGO should be more willing to attempt some less prominent designs.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I've always wanted to get a Tie and this seems affordable, and I need that beskar Mando. I just hope to Australian prices are decent for these, they haven't shown up on our lego.com.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@nick3c said:

Compared to 75218, the fuselage is two studs shorter and the wingspan is four studs shorter. So, only slightly smaller!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The reduced size TIE and X-wing may be 'for kids', but as an adult who doesn't own a previous version, I like these! Especially as the new prices mean I can afford both (and other ships they will hopefully do at this scale) instead of just one set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The cannons on the $50 X-Wing look better than the ones on the $80 one.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

The Millennium Falcon microfighter should be the Kessel Run one

Gravatar
By in United States,

I kinda dig the smaller scale on the X-Wing and Tie. Might pick those up. They look pretty fun!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are all great...well, except the microfighter repeat. Now I want an Aunt Beru minifigure, another minifig-scale Slave I with good figures (the 20th anniversary one is ugly), an Original-Trilogy-only Millennium Falcon, and some Clone Wars sets. Glad I can finally get two TIEs for what was the price of one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Anything about Ninjago City Gardens or more about 6346109 Roman Chariot?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Igni208:
Nope. I looked up that part on Bricklink, and it has three pin connections in a vertical line. This appears to have five pin connections in a plus shape. There are also a ton of small plates that wouldn't be necessary if that were true. I think that's a new 6x6 modified plate of some sort.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not bad for the reduction in size. I think I'll actually get these this year. Good job, Lego.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Like Bespin.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sweet, I can get an X-Wing and a TIE Fighter for the cost of one of last year's X-Wings. :P

Seriously though, these two sets look great. While they're obviously scaled down a little consequently a bit less detailed, they seem like a great compromise between price and detail. It certainly makes fleet-building easier for those who are into that.

surprisingly affordable)

I was thinking the same thing!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

@PurpleDave Yeah, my bad, I realised my mistake after a while, when I took another look at that section of the build, unfortunately it was too late to edit my comment.
At first the connection felt kinda strange to me because of the textures and that large hexagonal plate was the only similar looking piece I could think of at the moment. Nevertheless, this new piece is pretty weird looking...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

This is actually better than I thought. I am still annoyed we get too many X-Wings and TIEs, but these aren’t too bad considering the price.

Sadly, that X-Wing makes me regret getting 75229! The build here is much better AND it has Leia as well (which was the main reason I brought it). *sigh* I might have to put it in the part bins once I get the X-Wing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LegoC8 said:
"I hope they were trying to make this spoiler free and maybe eventually we'll get Cobb Vanth in another set"

Fingers crossed, but he’d be far from the first interesting Star Wars supporting character not to get a minifig.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Did lego decide to not move forward with the new dual molded rebel pilot helmets? They appeared in the last tie fighter but then never again?

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

As someone whose only experiences of Star Wars have been the 2005 LEGO Star Wars game, 2017 Battlefront II, Jedi: Fallen Order, and songs by Weird Al:

I think the TIE Fighter looks really well-done on this scale and the X-Wing needs a little getting used to, but is nevertheless reminiscent in a good way of 7140.

I'm pretty satisfied. If I were enough of a casual Star Wars fan to sit down and watch all the films I would happily pick these two up for the right price. Being able to get both iconic spacecraft for the price of a single current X-Wing is a win in my books.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So I’m all for more affordable sets and I must say the TIE looks amazing. Yes it has smaller wings, but I bet it will look more appropriately sized chasing an older design of a rebel ship. But here is what I don’t get. The previous version of a normal TIE, the one from Solo, has less than 100 more pieces, yet cost $30 more than this new one. So indeed scaling this one down does make it cheaper, but the real issue was the previous ones were just way overpriced!!!

I think that this however is a good move for Lego, not in making scaled down sets that are cheaper, but in making sets that don’t have tremendous markups for the Star Wars line.

That said, these sets do look good although it would be difficult for me to buy them already having previous iterations. Although I think the minifigure selection is brilliant. Including Leia with the X-Wing makes it a wonderful addition as she is typically only found in more expensive sets, yet is crucial to have for any Star Wars fan. Kids are going to love it!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Microfighters usually come in pairs, makes me wonder who will be pitted against that Millennium Falcon

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I love those microfighters. The cheapest way to get a fig and a fun model and this will go well with my chewie microfighter.

Maybe this xwing will actually be decently priced. I still don’t have one because I just can’t justify the cost to myself.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

The fact that (in US prices) you can get the TIE and X-Wing for $90 is making me happy

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Scaled down but not dumbed down, these are a perfect compromise. Good work Lego ??

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I've really liked the hyper-detailed starfighters of the last 5 or so years, but can fully understand Lego's need to drop it back a notch this time around. These should be kid's toys first and foremost and this move really resets that idea.

It's not like there's a shortage of sets aimed at adult collectors, or a backlog of bigger/details Star Wars sets.

Gravatar

I’m not sure if it’s been said yet, but I think the new part used for the engines is the same one that was used for the large Minions goggles this year

Gravatar
By in Germany,

My favorite actually is the TIE. Only thing that bugs my OCD is the still not recoloured Mixel joint in dark bluish grey. I will swap these out for light bluish grey ones from alternative manufacturers, then the look is perfect for my liking.

Gravatar
By in Hong Kong,

Thank god no more rubber band on the X-wing. I never liked that mechanism for it puts so much stress on elements and just looks bad. Quite excited to find out how the new s-foils mechanism works. And the reduced size is perfect to my preference.

Mando in his new armor and the Child in a $30 set? Yes please.

New X-Wing looks nice but for me definitely 6212 and 4502 are the best minifig scale X-Wings ever.

By in United Kingdom,

The X-wing is similar to those that appeared before, whereas I was hoping for something slightly larger and more detailed around the engines to complement the beautiful Poe's X-Wing 75102.

The Millennium Falcon Microfighter has appeared in so many promotional magazine freebies that the only advantage of this set is to get Han Solo, which you probably have a few of already!

The Tie fighter is similar to 9492, which was a great model so good to see it back again at this size (rather than over-sized) but uses a strange dark grey ball joint for the 120 degree hinge on the wing rather than light grey which is very distracting.

By in United States,

It's kind of incredible how many fewer pieces this X-wing uses when it does not look a lot smaller than the previous version. The TIE Fighter you can definitely tell it's scaled down, but you really have to look hard and compare closely to tell the difference between the previous X-wing and this one.

By in United Kingdom,

A reasonably priced TIE Fighter? I never thought I'd see the day! 100% picking this up.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh, look at that, an affordable X-Wing! A nice-looking one, too... I might just see about picking that one up if I get the cash to spare sometime :o Will nicely compliment the 2011 Millennium Falcon that I got for my birthday this year ^^

And the appearance of Jan Dodonna is a pretty cool inclusion, too :D

By in Colombia,

I don't see a rubber band on the X-Wing, finally

By in Germany,

I always felt the TIE Fighter was a little too big and is now coming in System scale, like it should. That way it will look way better against the Tydirium, an AT-AT or the Millennium Falcon. Plus, you can get almost 2 for the price of an old one. And 2 TIEs will look great next to the shuttle..

There are a couple things bothering me about the X-wing, but we get nicer cannons, rear landing gear in the right spot, smoother wings, very nice look from the back - again for half the price! Amazing. And that's why I hold my breath about no new Astromech, no ground vehicle, no ladder.

75295 The Millennium Falcon Microfighter is the 3rd remake of this set, but somehow feels kinda different from the other 2. Even though the only noticeable change is how the radar dish is attached. 75299 Trouble on Tatooine has already been revealed, but on that article I posted a Mandalorian quote so i'll give my opinion here. The Mandalorian in Beskar Armor looks fantastic. The Child is the same as the Razorcrest and the buildable The Child. The Tusken Raider I believe is the same from Obi Wan's hut so it's nothing special. All the builds look great. 75300 Tie Fighter and 75301 X-Wing both look pretty good for the significant downsize in parts. The 2 exclusive minifigures in both the X-Wing and Tie Fighter look fantastic.

By in United States,

Glad I got 2018's Tie Fighter and X-Wing. Not that these look bad per se, just not as good. Kids (and parents!) will absolutely love the price reduction though.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Oh wow, clearly a step into the right direction! Love the X-Wing and the TIE Fighter. Finally Ill treat myself to a new X-Wing (only got the '99 original) and a TIE Fighter (maybe two, for the good looks and the nice price point).

Points taken away from the tie fighter... Really lego a striker pilot that doesn't make sense. "

those pilots were flying TIEs in the new mandalorian episode I think, with the helmet markings

By in Hungary,

The two ships are well designed especially if the rumor about the prices will be right. The TIE fighter is bit small for my taste, the X-wing is simpler looking than the previous one was but I have to say I would have been happy if these sets were produced when I was 6-7 years old.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The X-Wing and TIE fighter have taken their downsizing very gracefully!
If Lego can keep quality at this level, while keeping size and price down, they should do well.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is a step in the right direction--much as I hate to admit it, they really should be leaving the high detail to the UCS sets and making the playsets more affordable. These look fantastic.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is the Leia minfig not exclusive also? I don't think there's been one with the dress part and not legs?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nothing I am interested in. I will hold out for the 2nd wave in the Helmet series.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think these look lovely, except for the tent and .. ballista in the mando set. And having the TIE and x wing be a lil smaller actually brings them closer to an accurate scale, so am perfectly fine with it! Also 100% scooping up that Falcon micro fighter for that Han figure as I don't have him with the updated hair yet

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

On a negative tip tonight - These are so lame..... x-wing after x-wing - each one looks less appealing than the last and a tie fighter for the love of god!

Then we look at recent US only Star Wars sets from comic-con and see imagination and skill

God forbid we have an imaginative set like 9500 or 75188

@AddictedToStyrene:
It would still leave you three characters short of the first wave of Kenner Star Wars action figures (Jawa, Sandperson, and "Death Squad" Commander).

@Knoose:
Was the Rebel pilot hotwiring the TIE Fighter? Did the Imperial Navy report it stolen?

@alfred_the_buttler:
Looking at photos of TIE Fighters from the films, the wings should be slightly taller than the total width of the craft, and they should be at least four times the height of the pod. The Solo TIE looks like it nailed those ratios pretty solidly, where the wings on this are spaced correctly but only three times the height of the pod. It looks a bit on the runty side as a result, but not as ridiculous as the original Kenner TIE Fighter where the wings were spread way too far apart for their size on top of just being too small compared to the pod.

But as always, minifig proportions make scaling things to them problematic. It's easy to just go by the size of their heads, since that's the most visible part when you're displaying the craft with a pilot in the cockpit, but if you go by the height some of these recent sets are massively oversized. Thrown in the UCS MF, and scaling against that, and you can pretty much say whatever you want about the scale of a particular set and be absolutely correct every time. For adult collectors, it's nice to have stuff that's scaled nicely against the UCS MF, but kids don't really need that when an X-Wing is almost as long as any non-UCS version of the Falcon.

@tman684:
It's been said, and they're not. These would stand quite a bit taller, and the wall thickness is about half that of the Minion goggle elements. If I'm not mistaken, these should be able to fit inside the smaller Minion goggle element.

@AustinPowers:
They do look weird. I'm wondering if it was absolutely necessary to use Mixel joints in the first place, or if another pair of elements might have worked better. Especially with the new 7-tooth click hinges, that might have been one alternative, and another can be seen holding the top corners together.

@Jeddostotle7:
A lot of the size reduction appears to have come from making the forward fuselage needle-thin.

@OscarWRG:
They might have figured out a way to hide them inside that new engine cowl.

@yamaki:
The cannons look goofy. The tips are way too long compared to the rest of the barrel. Those dishes should be moved forward at least two studs.

By in United Kingdom,

I am really really impressed with that X-Wing. It looks very well proportioned even if it is a little small.

The last X-Wing I bought was from 2012, so this is a huge step up, and is even cheaper than the 2012 model was. Does anyone know how this one compares size-wise to the 2012 one?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like the Mandolorian lego set. I did not get the Razor Crest but I will get the new set.
I am also okay with the X-wing and Tie Fighter. the biggest draw is that the landing gear on the X-wing does not look like it can go up and the Tie Fighter is so much smaller than the other Ties but I will still get it because I missed out on the other one. The micro fighter though I will probably not get because I already have the Rise of Skywalker one and I usually get them for the Minifigures and the "A New Hope" Han Solo does not really appeal to me.
Can't wait for the other lego star wars pictures. (I mean another Poe x-wing and as a junior set is not really exciting to see.)

By in Japan,

Well as soon as these hit shelves I am getting that x-wing and also the Falcon microfighter. I need a pilot Luke a Han and a Leia still in my OG display. These will do nicely. Also the X-Wing being smaller will scale well with my Rogue 1 Y-Wing, though I feel it will be a bit undersized next to my A-wings from the Rebels set and the one that came with General Lando. But still stoked to finally the figures and at least a displayable X-Wing.

I'm happy to see good ol' Rebel Pilot helmet without ugly visor, however I'm disappointed with that huge "chibi" Stormtrooper helmet still present. It is so out of scale!

I will say that the new stormtrooper helmet looks better in person than in pictures.

9493 was only two centimeters longer than this new one at 33 cm long, and about the same width. This new one is 31 centimeters by 28 centimeters.

Do you know the hight of the Solo tie fighter in comparison to the new one.

Gravatar

@acotterell017 -
The 2018 Imperial TIE Fighter was around 9" high by 7" wide, while this newer one measures around 6.5" high by 6" wide.

@Japanbuilder:
Depending on the source you go by, I've seen depictions of A-Wings that range from the size of a VW Beetle (where it's hard to even imagine squeezing through the tiny cockpit opening without removing upper hull panels) to the Boeing X-32. Most seem to peg it at about the size of a large 4-door sedan. So, you've got some wiggle room where you can say a given A-Wing is in scale with a variety of different X-Wings.

I, for one, am saddened by the reveal of a new regular X-Wing, because that severely lessens the possibility of a new UCS X-Wing for next year.
