Sadly, all the stuff I want now is out of stock. But I did manage to get the Bookshop and a few other gifts during the VIP weekend.

10276 Colosseum is Temporarily Out of Stock here in the States. Fortunately I was able to jump on as soon as it was available to secure my set, plus 40410 and 6346109!

By in Netherlands,

Seems to be the same sets on sale as yesterday in the Netherlands LEGO shop. No new discounts added, except that the Wooden Minifigure can now be purchased at a 20% discount.

Same. Been waiting for the Gingerbread House as well as a random Friends set.

20.000 VIP points?
Who has 20.000 points?!!
After the Black Friday welcome to the Scam Saturday.

Really, is here someone with 20.000 points?

By in United Kingdom,

Somebody had 20,000 points because the Mickey Mouse has sold out

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have 52,000 points and everything I want is sold out

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I got 82106 points simply because it seems a right faff spending them.
I wouldn't waste 20000 of them on freaky mickey though. Imagine them 2 things staring at you all night

By in Netherlands,

The VIP point offers may be somewhat interesting this weekend. The offers for sets is really nothing special. Better wait for some other random weekend.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

I also have plenty of VIP points but then”discount” on the Mickey set is not that good here in DK, only around 28%, and since there ain’t really anything in stock that I really want to get the free shipping, I’m going to take a pass this time, and hope it comes on sale later

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have over 23000 points, because the 3 items I’ve had my eye on haven’t been in stock for months. I’ll keep waiting, as none of these offers or deals have been anything I’m interested in.

By in Belgium,

I was expecting to spend a lot. I actually delayed some purchases for that Black Friday. But I bought nothing on lego.com : cheap discounts on average products, no thank you.

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

What, 43179 reward ends in two days, it reads sold out, yet the set is available!??

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I was hoping that the Christmas Wreath might have re-appeared this weekend, but it has gone from 'temporarily out of stock' to vanishing from the site completely. Oh well... Must have dreamt it!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I had 50k odd, but redeem £100 off, twice, last weekend for Ecto 1 and Nes. Glad I did and didnt wait for whats been an awful BF(IMO) on lego.com. I was kinda hoping for a BF 2020 black minifgiure too, that didnt materilaise. Oh well

When they released this new system, there was no way I was redeeming points as it seemed so hit and miss and they wouldnt stack. Glad the rewards seem to be integrated to the site now, not the car crash it was at relaunch

By in Puerto Rico,

I saw them but the offers are not cool and the things I want went out fast.

I have a little over 30k points: they accumulate since I have a strict decision tree for using them :)
- I only buy sets on Lego.com which are rarely discounted elsewhere (18+, ideas, exclusives)
- If I buy these sets from Lego, I try to wait until Double VIP, but spending VIP points during double VIP is unwise.

Therefore: I only use my VIP points for a small number of sets, and then only if there is a good reason to buy outside of Double VIP. So basically only when a very special GWP is available.

By in Canada,

Nothing interesting on sale so far on this BF event. If this is going to continue in the future I will have to add it to my list of "overrated events I used to look for but no longer care about" where it will join "May the 4th" whose GWP year after year over the past 3 or 4 years has been a disappointment.

Just like others did, I was able to get some sets I wanted and score double VIP points and the GWP last weekend. I'm glad I didn't wait as most of the interesting stuff to me is now out of stock.

I had nearly 30000. I simply never spend them on anything other than major sets.
For example, I've redeemed now 150€ worth of points to bring down the price of the Colosseum.
I will not use VIP points again until the next big set comes out. And I always take advantage of double VIP.

I've been banking my VIP points and have well over 100,000 points. I redeemed for the Mickey & Minnie set. No sales tax applied which saved me another 9%.

@MisterP:
Before they redesigned their VIP system, I used to burn off my points with every purchase that didn't occur on double or triple points days. Hanging onto them just meant I was spending real money now, and it's not like points earn interest. Now that they've completely redesigned the points system, I find it terribly inconvenient to cash in points, and often forget to do so when there's not a multiplier in effect (and doing it when there is just throws away bonus points). I did cash in points for one of the half-priced $5 coupons, but I have enough points left that I could have picked up the wooden minifig if I really wanted it. Give it enough time and I might hit 20k.

There's basically three ways you can manage your points. You can use them as fast as they accrue, you can let them build up until you need the money to grab something when you're short on cash, or you can assume that there will be the occasional cherry tossed into the VIP Rewards pool and try to pounce on them before they're gone. The fact that they kicked off the new system by dropping the rare Batpod in the mix really cemented that idea, because the only way you can buy those with cash is to make a _lot_ of other purchases that'll earn you more points.

@paulrothwell:
For me, that would be enough to land $630 off of purchases. At some point it's just a really restrictive bank account.

@chief7575:
Did you submit notification requests? You can do that from the product page on LEGO.com, and as soon as they add more to the system, you'll get a one-time e-mail notification. If you miss it, you'll need to submit another request.

@ineedabrick:
First, they set aside a specific quantity of certain items for these offers. Once that quantity is depleted, the offer is done. Alternately, they could sell out of regular stock without anyone touching the offer (if that happens, I'm sure they'd just roll any remaining product back into inventory and fill any standing backorders). Second, wrong Mickey. The 20,000k point offer is for the mosaic that hasn't been released yet, not the statues.

@colay:
Oh, things were all kinds of screwed up with the relaunch. You had to cash in points and then order something else before they'd send you a gift card that you could use in stores. Now they can cash points in at the register before they ring you up. Points didn't stack before, which made it difficult to maximize cash off, especially on big ticket items. Now they do, so you could give up the leftover penny and buy any large set entirely on points with no cash outlay.

By in United States,

The 20,000 points offer is for the 43179 buildable characters set. That's the image and description that's shown with the offer. And in the U.S. at least it's effectively a 15-20% discount off the set.

Decided to make a VIP point withdrawal and picked up the Coliseum at my local Lego store along with the three GWP (Chariot, Xmas tree and Charles Dickens book). No sales tax using my certificates.

By in United Kingdom,

I can’t believe how many things have sold out or are backordered. Biggest kick in the teeth for me was the Tree House, not available now until February. Since Ecto 1 isn’t even on back order does that mean it won’t be around for a few months?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ChocolateFrog:
On one of my last to visits to the local LEGO Store, they had a Tree House sitting on the rear barrier behind the cash registers. Usually that means they sold out (even temporarily) and someone returned a sealed copy. Rather than shuffle stuff around on the shelves again, they place it conspicuously in a spot that normally isn't used to display sets anyways. I figured that meant it was already retired, or close enough that they weren't sure if they'd get another shipment.

As for Ecto-1, my experience suggests that when they add a shipment to the online inventory, it's possible to keep buying them even for a bit after they've run out. The last orders get put on backorder status, and they may even continue accepting backorders if they expect a fresh shipment fairly soon. Once enough time has passed, or they've hit a maximum threshold on backorders, they cut them off until they have new stock that's ready to sell. It's not a good idea to oversell on backorders. If you're that concerned about getting it ASAP, submit a request for stock notification on LEGO.com. The next time they get fresh inventory they'll send you a one-time e-mail. They won't hold a copy for you, and there's no guarantee it'll come at a convenient time, so it might sell out again before you can buy one. If that happens, resubmit a stock notification request and wait for the next batch. Minimum, a set like this should be available for at least a year, so you've got plenty of time.

Ok nice strategy.
Usually I don't buy at lego.com. too expensive.

Mine is:
- REGULAR SETS on amazon waiting a 30-40% off sale.
- RARELY DISCOUNTED I wait for october/november discounts and get them at 20-25%
- LEGO EXCLUSIVES I get them with double VIP points or when there's a cool GWP on Lego.com

I just cashed in 41,000 and used 39,000 towards the Colosseum. I hardly ever use my points, so they’ve been racking up. Plus some of those are from last weekends Double Points.

The Tree House is now on backorder for 21 April 2021!

By in United States,

Why are people so critical of that Mickey/Minnie set? I've got it set up at my house, currently in the living room, and multiple non-Lego fans have said how amazing it looks.

It's easily one of the more popular sets I've had set up.

By in Netherlands,

Is anyone else having issues with entering the 1millionpoints sweepstake today? When i click the link to take me to that specific page, it either loads partially, with the sweepstake entry not loading at all, or it gives me some notice about lego employees working from home and results of the sweepstake maybe taking longer.
The lego website is pretty much being its usual unreliable self during peak hours again...
