City Advent Calendar - Day 14

Posted by ,

Another day, another microbuild? Yesterday we found a bank behind the door. For some reason, I'm still thinking about Days 10 and 11, with Freya and the fire truck. I'm wondering why Freya didn't get a building like Duke and Harl did. Too bad there's never been a fire station set in City.....and that wraps up today's random thought of the day.

Moving on, let's take a look behind door number 14.

Well, it's a festive colour and a decidedly non-festive build. Today's build is a microbuild of a monster truck, I think this confirms that the bank yesterday is from 60245. There is certainly consistency between the microbuilds and the set - the monster truck dwarfs the bank structure in both instances.

This is a weighty build - coming in at 25 pieces, with only three spares. I love the details included in this small build, especially the lights mounted on the roll bar of the truck. What a great little build.

So Lego in 2020's weird obsession with monster trucks continues, all the way into the advent calendar.

I half expect Stephanie, Harry Potter and Yoda to be riding monster trucks by day 24.

Nice one! They even captured the suspension system in the undercarriage. The windshield though can be improved on. If TLG made this piece in trans clear - Panel 1 x 1 x 1 Corner (part 6231), two of them would have suited better I think.

How good is your traction going to be when you’re off-roading in bare rims?

And the wheels actually turn! Quite a score for my 3yo :)

it's kinda mindblowing to see that some people consider this set as "police good propaganda" and nothing more.

Today's bag was much thicker than other days. Made building in the bag more tricky.

@Paperdaisy :
You just need to invest in a good impulse sealer. That way you can cut the end off of the bag, dump the parts out, build it, stick it back in the bag, seal it shut again, and be all, “whoa, did you guys see how easily I built that in the bag?” For added head-scratching, use a different sized bag. A numbered bag would make it even better.

Looks like the getaway vehicle preceeding the robber.

Yep. Tomorrow will be predictable.
